CORRECTION: Maggie refers to Edward and Carlisle as “East coast elites.” In fact Carlisle is British, and Edward is from Chicago.  

Breaking Dawn part 2 is perhaps not the greatest 400 pages of literature ever written, but there's still tons to discuss! Nico explains how the visible light spectrum could differ between humans and vampires. We delve further into the Cullens' relationship dynamics, and Maggie explores how Twilight is ~actually~ an allegory for queerness. Plus, Nico finally, totally, completely loses his shit in a way no one (or everyone?) could have predicted.

Teen marriage, vampire abortion, the nitty-gritty of Imprinting– Breaking Dawn goes there, and we have no choice but to follow. Maggie continues comparing Nico to Edward, to Nico's extreme chagrin. Maggie also details her real-life experience as the only girl in an all-male "wolf pack," and how that experience compares to Leah's.   

HUGE day, Creeps!!! At 8:30 this morn, it was announced that Midnight Sun will be published this August. Nico and Mag discuss the news, expectations, the "curse" of Midnight Sun, sex tapes (???) and the possible reemergence of toxic Twilight culture. 

"I've never been more emotionally effected by a book in my life." Eclipse is both the best and the worst book in the Twilight Saga. It's the emotional climax of the series, and also the most problematic. We talk about all the reasons why, and do a deep-dive into the real life Quileute legends and how Stephenie Meyer's version stacks up. PLUS Maggie makes her final ruling in the Team Edward vs. Jacob debate (Nico continues to despise Edward).

This is a fascinating conversation with author Lindsay Eagar about the Mormon influences in The Twilight Saga.
