Something arrives at a Cherokee deathbed wearing the face of a very old man or woman, and the witches and demons want nothing to do with it. They call it the Raven Mocker. ==========HOUR ONE: They're powerful in the supernatural. Witches, demons and poltergeists fear them because they are not from our world. The Cherokee call them the Raven Mockers. (The Raven Mocker) *** Betsy's Mysterious Flowers *** A girl's younger sister keeps seeing things that don't exist – until the truth is revealed when older sis is moving out. (Secrets Between Sisters) *** It's called the Chronovisor – and it is said the device can look into events in the future as well as the past. Is it true? We may never know – the Vatican, the supposed owners of the device, are refusing to cooperate when questioned. (Does The Vatican Have a Time Machine?) *** An Alaskan hunter claims to have found a boy that had been kidnapped… not by humans or aliens, but by a mysterious creature knows as the ircenrraat. (Abducted By The Ircenrraat) *** It is considered to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the United States. But there are also tales of ghosts, a giant lake monster, unexplained disappearances, and murders. That's only a sample of what you might find at Oregon's Crater Lake. (The Creeps of Crater Lake) *** Weirdo family member Candice Cardenas tells of a haunting in her mobile home. (This Ghost Loves Brass) *** Dreaming About Owls==========HOUR TWO: It all started one night in June 2018. The screams coming from underneath the house. It was so intense, the homeowners simply abandoned the property. I'll even share audio of the screams so you can decide for yourself if it's real. (Screams From The Basement) *** Weirdo family member Elis Helmersson shares a story passed down the generations about a true ghost sighting in her family. (My Great Grandfather Saw a Headless Ghost) *** Have investigators finally solved the strange disappearance of Pan Am's Flight 914? (The Mystery of Flight 914) *** Plus, “Werewolves On The Prowl!”==========SOURCES AND REFERENCES FROM TONIGHT'S SHOW: “Betsy's Mysterious Flowers” by Brandon Grimes for Paranormality Magazine: (link no longer available)“The Raven Mocker” by Jeramy Neurign: (link no longer available)“Secrets Between Sister” posted at BackpackerVerse: (link no longer available)“Does The Vatican Have a Time Machine” posted at Disclose.TV: (link no longer available)“Abducted By The Ircenrraat” originally published in the Anchorage Daily News: (link no longer available)““The Creeps of Crater Lake” by Christopher Schulz: http://bit.ly/2LxmZ4N“This Ghost Loves Brass” submitted by Weirdo family member Candice Cardenas“Dreaming About Owls” by Nicole Whitney for Paranormality Magazine: (link no longer available)“The Mystery of Flight 914”: JJ Foster (link no longer valid), Hoax or Fact (link no longer valid) and Snopes: http://bit.ly/2RS2voI“Screams From The Basement” written by Robert Harries (link no longer available); captured audio by Alan Tait:http://bit.ly/2RUdyxv“My Great Grandfather Saw a Headless Ghost” by Weirdo family member Elis Helmersson“Werewolves On The Prowl” by John Beale for Paranormality Magazine: (link no longer available) ==========(Over time links seen above may become invalid, disappear, or have different content. Welcome back to SUMMER OF THE HORROR MUSICAL! The boys are joined by special guests Ron Martin from Jay of the Deads New Horror Movies podcast and Gregamortis from that podcast as well along with his own podcast Land of the Creeps. We venture back into the side of HORROR musicals with Rory Culkin in the semi-true metal story, Lords of Chaos.
Today it's a special pleasure to welcome Adrian Daub back to Speaking Out of Place to discuss his new book, “What Tech Calls Governing.” This is a devastatingly brilliant and immensely witty critique of Silicon Valley “disruptors” and the fragile, clueless egos of (currently) vastly wealthy people (mostly all men) and both their insinuation into our government and their detachment from reality. Among other things we talk about their aversion to caring about anything but themselves. We end with a conversation about utopias that are already here for us, once we leave off any fascination with a world where, as Daub says, “the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, but for some inexplicable reason, your dishwasher can communicate with your car.” Adrian Daub is an academic and writer living in San Francisco. He is the author of What Tech Calls Thinking, The Cancel Culture Panic, What Tech Calls Governing, and many other books. Together with Moira Donegan he hosts the podcast In Bed with the Right, which focuses on rightwing conceptions of gender and sexuality. His next book will be Project 1933: Fascism Then and Now.

The Dads From The Crypt are back, and this time we're heading to college for one of the most gloriously fun horror movies of the 1980s: Night of the Creeps! In this episode, we break down Fred Dekker's 1986 cult classic, where alien slugs, reanimated corpses, fraternity hijinks, and two absolutely legendary cops collide in one wildly entertaining horror-comedy.We talk about the movie's incredible blend of sci-fi, zombies, slasher horror, and comedy, the unforgettable characters, the practical effects, the references to classic horror films, and why Night of the Creeps has become such a beloved cult favorite. Is this one of the greatest horror comedies of the '80s? Are the CREEPS still as much fun nearly 40 years later? And most importantly... why don't they make movies like this anymore?!Grab your flamethrower and join the Dads From The Crypt for a deep dive into Night of the Creeps!

Whadap, CREEPS! It's August, it's Episode 103, which can only mean one thing: Netflix's THE LAST HOUSE (2026)! We talk about the Bad Dad Hall of Fame, keeping your word, sparking conversations, Milton Bradley's Operation, Summer boredom, school prep, and dealing with siblings. We've got an Interview with a Vamparent, a maze of wicked traps, and SO much more!
This week, Britte grabbed too much candy again. We have a lot of squishy things going on.We're trying: Gummy Burst Cotton Candy Grapes, Freeze-dried Sweet Tarts, and Fizzy strawberry discs and flamingos. Note: they did not eat the flamingos...Then, Matt has BREAKING NEWS! We have a naked guy roaming our town. The Grafton Streaker. Folks reported to Matt that a guy ran down (more up really) East Main Street of downtown Grafton, WV without a lick of cloth on his body. Just running around in the full breeze. What happens after that I challenge you to believe - he makes it to Ace Hardware way up the hill, where he is -I swear to all the gods we are not kidding- hit by the car of his own mother. The Creeps also talk about squish, that the editor is a child?, cotton candy grape breeds, cherry candy is top tier, housing a two liter of cherry 7-up, starburst preferences, what does Flamingo taste like, and introducing this episode - the Peep-o-meter!

This week, Kelsey brings us more Oreo's to try and we're never upset about that. We're trying the new limited run Cinnamon Bun flavored variety, and really they should keep this one around too. Then, Kelsey talks about a very recent tragic event occurring in the last month or so. This involves the murder of Sara Gilson(Duff) by Jeremiah Shawn Duffey (a terrible person who also ended himself after), after he was investigated for abusing a minor during basketball that he coached at an elementary school on tribal land, and after she got a Protective order and posted about her horrid ex on her highly followed TikTok. Note: If you know anyone who needs assistance with mental health crisis, have them call or text 988. StrongHearts Native Helpline: By calling 1–844–7NATIVE (1–844–762–8483), American Indian and Alaska Native victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and dating violence can speak to an advocate.Matt tried BTS Oreo's finally, enough that he considered saving K-Pop... The Creeps also talk about sugar bits, entry horror stories for kids, lost Oreo's, and the Netflix doc meme.

by Patrick BromleyChicago's biggest and best horror convention returns! One of my favorite weekends of the year is Chicago's annual Flashback Weekend, the horror convention created and run by Mike and Mia Kerz that takes place in Rosemont, Illinois. It's three days of panels, parties, contests, vendors, celebrity guests, live music -- everything you could want as a horror fan. This will be my sixth year hosting panels at the convention, but I've been going to Flashback much longer than just these six years. I love it.This year's Flashback features a salute to 30 years of the Scream franchise, celebrates Halloween II, a Night of the Creeps reunion, features first-time Flashback appearances from Henry Thomas, Steven Weber, and the Silent Night, Deadly Night Santas, and even has Obsession co-star Megan Lawless making her convention debut (I get to host her panel on Sunday! Come on out!). Plus, this year sees the world premiere of a brand new Full Moon movie (relevant to my interests!), in-costume photo opps, Alan Howarth playing the score to Halloween II LIVE along with the film, a tribute to Svengoolie (the greatest horror host of all time), and so much more. One of my favorite things about Flashback -- besides all the cool guests and the chance to spend the weekend surrounded by horror stuff and horror fans -- is that it's a family-run convention and really feels that way. All of the proceeds from the con go into supporting the Midway Drive-In located in Dixon, IL -- the nicest and best drive-in in Illinois -- which they bought in 2007. I love that Flashback is dedicated to preserving the big-screen theatrical experience. From this year's press release:Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror ConventionJuly 31 - Aug. 2, 2026Hyatt Regency O'Hare Chicago, Rosemont, IL 60018 Tickets now on sale at www.flashbackweekend.comFlashback Weekend Chicago Horror Convention celebrates its 25th year with a MASSIVE Celebrity guest line-up, amazing evening events, luxurious after-parties, an enormous vendor room, and special Celebrity costume Celeb Photo-Ops.All of this and more, taking place in one of the largest and most beautiful Convention hotels in the World!FLASHBACK WEEKEND 2026 SALUTES;-30 years of SCREAM! Criterion Creeps Episode 453: Revanche by Criterion Creeps
This week, we've got good news and bad news with 1986's "Night of the Creeps." We talk about writer/director Fred Dekker's cult classic featuring college nerds in love, corpse-handling frat pranks, a hard-drinking Tom Atkins, 50's sci-fi, axe-wielding maniacs, zombies, brain-sucking slugs and a cavalcade of catchphrases. Listen now.
This week, the Creeps are getting spooky! We're also trying pepperoni rolls from Mt Top Convenience located as you're heading out of Thomas, WV towards Davis, WV. (Or 16105 Appalachian Hwy if you don't like my sort of directions) Open Daily 5 am-10 pm, Sun 7 am-9 pm. Here's what we tried:Pepperoni roll with pepper jack, with jalapeños, with banana peppersThen, Matt brings hauntings back to the show with the whole weird history of the West Virginia State Penitentiary, located in Moundsville, WV. He mentions the founding of the jail, the horrible things that went on there, it's castle like architecture, it's basement. He also mentions the haunted wv road trip you can do.They also talk about Shovels & Rope playing a sold out show at Purple Fiddle, getting touristy up in the splendor of Canaan Valley, pep roll crust, Mississippi oddities, and civil war stuff, and protecting Jimothy at all costs.
music talk and news.
This week on The Creep Dive, we head from the eerie walls of an Irish holiday rental to Nazi-occupied Paris, where one of history's most chilling killers preyed on desperate families fleeing the Holocaust. We unravel the horrifying story of Dr. Marcel Petiot the charming physician who promised safe passage out of France, only to lead his victims into a house of unimaginable horror. Plus, an unbelievable modern murder case in which a jealous fiancée invented an entire Mexican cartel online... and the fantasy ended in real bloodshed.Murder, manipulation, wartime deception, hidden rooms and one of the most bizarre catfishing cases we've ever covered. This one is a ride.Want to listen ad-free and get hundreds of exclusive bonus episodes, extended chats and Patreon-only Creeps?Join us here: https://www.patreon.com/thecreepdiveYour support keeps the show independent, lets us make even more weird and wonderful episodes, and you'll get this episode completely ad-free. This week, Kelsey tries BTS themed hotteok brown sugar pancake flavored Oreo's that are purple and have fun imprints and phrases on each cookie. She also tried Purple Cotton Candy Alani. Matt tries a few of the new Pumpkin Pie M&M's and questions why we keep buying M&M's...Then, Matt talks about a case involving the body of a man found in Clendenin, WV in 2014. Using CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) and medical analysis they've determined the man is identified as Jeffery Allen Blake from Moundsville. Kanawha Sheriff's are asking for any information or tips to be sent to their office at 304-357-0169. Article credited to WSAZ 3. The Creeps also talk about disappointment, the nostalgia of cold medicine flavors like it's a wine tasting, pumpkin vs pumpkin spice, snack squirrelling, and the pure joy that is Jimothy.

This week, Matt talks about the Jim Thorpe adventure he and Britte took to vend at Mahoning Drive-In's VHS Fest X, and their concessions perfections are what they ate all weekend. They also travelled north to the historic district of Jim Thorpe, PA where they tried a hip donut cafe called Donerds. Here's what they tried:Best popcorn in a theater ever, corn dogs, chicken and fries and dippets, pretzel nuggets and nachos with rico's cheese because you have to Donerds: Coffee, Chocolate Chip Cannoli donut, Strawberry Pistachio donutThen, Matt hits close to his home of Logan County. He talks about corporate true crime. Some just call it a flood. The 1972 Buffalo Creek disaster, in which slurry dams gave out under the pressure of millions of gallons of rain and coal waste, combined with years of neglect and incompetent build design. This wiped villages off the map, killed 125 people, injured 1,121, left over 4,000 homeless. Gov. Arch Moore's "investigations" were not even close to enough, and still not enough has been done for a region and a state who has given their entire lives over to coal. The Creeps also talk about too much filling, their high count episodes, popcorn kernel technology, videotapes, Matt's usual PA Haterade, Taco Bell lettuce, and family ties to coal industries. Note: there's some echo on this one but that just means you get to hear our lovely Creep voices twice!

Dead kids and horses can only mean that the movies are back.
This week, Kelsey has us try Domino's new Slice Sauce, a parmesan sort of ranch-ish Canes-ish sauce that is maybe for wings but they have it for pizza. Millie also gives it a try and review. Then, Kelsey gives Matt zoological lessons about the honey badger, and how they are fearless scrappy fighters in the wild, even when they come up against lions. She talks about a pet honey badger named Stoffel from South Africa. She ties this in to true crime by illustrating Stoffel's career as a pro escape artist. The Creeps also talk about dip-its, the worst chain sauces, school pizza, spoilers, JK being a DB, and nature docs.

The democrats paint themselves into a corner, championing angry activist women and backing creeps who will stop at nothing to derail anything President Trump cares about. Proof of that comes with a quick flashback to 2020 when news hack Brian Stelter tried to teach us about the "far right's" fake news about the Hunter Biden laptop. Listen to how purposefully wrong the media was then and consider what they're telling you now about the sabotage of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Why are the media drowning in their own hysteria?
