We are in a bit of a remote, wooded double feature today for Dan's tales. The first of two stories is composed out of what may have been a hermit's final diary entries, as a man living alone in a remote cabin writes of something terrorizing him. Then we hear the legend of the Dungarvon Whooper, a folklore coming from an old logging camp in New Brunswick, Canada. Then Lynze gives us a life long but seemingly harmless attachment. Or is it? What's happening to this person? Lastly, what Dan says is possibly the most horrifying tale he's ever heard from Lynze- what happens when you cannot tell reality from nightmare? This week on Welcome to the Poddy, we're diving into the unnerving depths of Longlegs (2024), the latest psychological horror starring Nicolas Cage like you've never seen him before. Equal parts detective thriller and occult nightmare, this film blends 90s serial killer vibes with a slow-burn satanic mystery—and it seriously delivers. We break down the film's disturbing imagery, the haunting performance by Maika Monroe, and how Cage's role might be his creepiest to date. Final verdict: 7/10 birthday murders.Plus, we unpack some personal horror stories inspired by Longlegs:That time we dealt with an actual neighborhood creepWeird dreams that felt too realSecret family history that got dark, fastChildhood moments that still haunt usIf you're into true crime energy with a horror twist, this episode is for you. Why Resistance Matters: Lessons from Postcards to HitlerHow does authoritarianism take hold? What warning signs do we often miss? In this episode, we speak with Bruce Neuburger, author of Postcards to Hitler: A German Jew's Defiance in a Time of Terror, about the rise of political extremism—then and now. Neuburger shares his grandfather's incredible story of resistance under Nazi rule and explores the modern parallels we can't afford to ignore.

There's still a chill in the crisp Spring air, as your lovely Creeps try new flavors of Sprite Chill: Strawberry Kiwi and Cherry Lime! One of them is zero, I don't remember which one, don't ask me. We also tried Chester's Cheddar Jalepeno popcorn after drinking soda, instead of washing it down because we're crazy people. Then, Matt reads a very recent NPR headline about a babysitter, at a family's home in Kansas, checking under the child's bed for "monsters" and finding a real person under there instead. Kelsey then tells a brief story about a weird dasher. The Creeps also talk about hardcore cough drops, rollin with the Coke Boiz, the perfection of all things cherry limeade, Kelsey hopping onto the forgetting allergies train Britt is already a conductor on, price rage, falling for weird classic advertising, and killing Matt with Kiwi unsuccessfully.

For the first of two tales, Dan takes us to the old mining city of Ballarat , Australia, to explore reports of hauntings from the 19th century, and some even stranger reports of some ghost hoaxers. Such an entertaining story! Then, a supposedly true modern encounter tale of someone who might give you something new to worry about. When you think of deceased relatives and other spirits always being near and watching over you, do you ever wonder how much of your life they actually see? Lynze offers us three tales this week. Her first is not that scary but a super fun mystery that has paranormal elements. Then, a big sister encourages her younger sister to make friends with the person in the mirror. What could go wrong? Lastly, a creepy tale of something in the basement of a rental house. This week, our Creeps are back in the studio to try Ritzy Lunch, located at 456 W Pike St. Clarksburg, WV. Open Mon-Sat 7 AM-2 PM. They are the place our Creeps have mentioned before, that is adjacent to the old theater that once played Night of the Hunter, and they have a photo of that marquee hanging in their restaurant. Here's what we tried:Classic hotdogs with sauce, mustard, onions, and Ritzy's signature pink/red slaw!We also tried Mister Bee's new Mothman themed crinkle cut potato chips on the sideThen, Matt covers the twelve victims of the Torso Murders of the 1930's by an unidentified serial killer in Cleveland, Ohio. They also dive into the connections between these morsels and the murder of Elizabeth Short, aka the Black Dahlia killing. The details of the case are extremely graphic in nature, listener discretion is advised. If you would prefer to only tune in to the food portion of the show, Matt's story starts around nine minutes in.They also talk about classic WV dogs again, weird flavors, a Main Corpse Pool Day and the perfect summer snacks that would go with that, and discovering eats that are very local to you. Shoutout to Liz Pavlovic who recommended Ritzy to us oh so long ago, and our apologies if we said your name wrong, our Editor shares the pain of the long name...

Once again, the aviation industry is in the spotlight, but this time for all the wrong reasons. With the recent accidents and mishaps, safety management systems have become a major topic in mainstream discussions. The problem is, those conversations often turn into a rush to judgment, throwing around blame, prematurely pointing fingers, and ignoring the most important thing - the data. This doesn't help anyone at all. What the industry does in the aftermath of an accident is critical. Instead of rushing to conclusions, we have to let the investigations play out and let the data come in so we know what actually happened. When we wait for data, we often discover that the system does work or we'll uncover learnings we can use to get better. What's the right way to react to a mishap? Do we need more state sponsored safety mechanisms? In this episode, Bob Waltz returns for an insightful conversation. Bob is now the VP of Flight Operations at Surf Air Mobility, and he shares what the aviation industry should be doing in the aftermath of recent unfortunate events. You'll also learn: How to avoid letting a sense of complacency can creep in The value of a system safety approach The rule every aviation safety officer must follow If AI can help the human be a better operator Guest Bio Bob Waltz is the VP of Flight Operations at Surf Air Mobility. As an award-winning and industry-recognized executive operational leader in the aviation industry, Bob has the experience in Fortune 500 global businesses and proven performance managing operational budgets of up to $3.5B and capital expense budgets of up to $500M. He is honored to serve as the Part 119 Director of Operations and Senior Director of Flight Operations at Sun Country Airlines, responsible for the stewardship of the Pilot group and the entire Flight Operations team. Additionally, Bob consults worldwide on Safety Management Systems and serves as an industry research lead as part of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University's Boeing Center for Aviation and Aerospace Safety. Dan starts this week with a very bizarre story. It's hard to even explain but we are off to Finland to review a tale about a sculpture garden. Then we head to Saudi Arabia to explore the lore around Bride of the Red Sea. Lynze really goes for it this week with five stories! They are short and quite varied. Her first two deal with family members sticking around after their deaths in very small, kind but still eery ways. Then, because it's March, she offers us a little Leprechaun tale. Then, we hear a tale of poltergeist activity not surrounding an angsty teen, which feels new. Lastly, a shadow figure that seems to leave behind some lasting effects. A big fake round of applause for our episode this week. The Creeps try an absurd assortment of Krispy Kreme donuts, all Pop Tart themed, in the following delightful flavors: Frosted Strawberry with shortbread, Chocolatey Fudge with brownie batter buttercreme, and Brown Sugar Cinnamon with a brown sugar cinnamon cream cheese buttercreme. We can die happy now. Then, Matt has updates to a local story about a tractor trailer and car collision on the Cheat Lake Bridge in Morgantown, WV during this year's blustery January snowstorms, and the death that occurred when the car plunged into the Lake below. His update includes details about the Phoenix Police's arrest of the wrong person. The Creeps also talk about perks if you pay up, search teams, Morgantown driving on a good day, Kelsey slanders buttercream again, and Matt quits. Note: Matt means Randy's Donuts, a historic LA donut institution that has locations in Vegas. They're the best donuts ever. (We also went to Junior's the same day, hence the mention) (Matt did get the right Joe Arpaio at the end.)
Shortened show today with Jen Siess filling in for Matt Pauley, as tonight she's joined by Lou Korac to talk Blues hockey, Lynn Worthy to talk Cardinals baseball with Opening Day creeping around the corner, and Brian Stull of the St. Louis Battlehawks as their season starts next Friday.

Dan offers three stories this week. The first is of Scotland's Redcap, a monstrous and murderous little goblin of a creature with lore going back to the 14th century. Next, we'll head to Serbia and talk about the horror lore behind the strange rock formations of Devil's Town. And finally, we'll explore the lore surrounding what might be early America's most famous haunting, the Wizard Clip. Lynze also has three stories this week, so fun! She starts with a story from Louisiana, exploring the space between us and the veil. Then, we go to Colorado for a mimic tale. Then Lynze wraps it up with a creepy someone hanging out on a Denmark bus. Dan's first of two stories takes us to India. He relays the story of a man who shares the story of his grandmother's paranormal affliction. Then, Dan shares almost 250 years of history and the haunted lore that surrounds Lompoc California's La Purísima Spanish Mission. Lynze brings us two tales, both of which have elements we have yet to hear about before! We go to Florida, to The Devil's Armchair in her first story. A new creature, an ashy-white-burnt-skin-golden-eyed thing... is the subject of her second story. Cummins Family Scholarship Open now! Please go to badmagicproductions.com for all the information. Dan's first of two stories is centered around a school nurse who claims her encounter literally ended her career. It's very intense, and not fun to think that what she claims to have witnessed could be real. For his second story, Dan will share the haunted lore of South Carolina's Oakwood Cemetery, and an encounter that took place there. Lynze gives us two spoopy tales and one heart-warming story of confirmation. Her first story takes out to the woods where a bunch of kids party with the unknown. Then, someone is joined in bed by a not-so-comforting visitor. And finally, a beautiful story of a mom speaking to her son from the great beyond. The first tale this week is the disturbing story of an exorcism that took place in a small town in Australia in 1993. It is upsetting on so many levels. Then Dan shares the lore and modern encounters surrounding the abandoned Manteno State Hospital south of Chicago. Real life horror, and paranormal horror. Lynze shares one of the best and strangest ouija board fan tales ever! Then she wraps up the episode with what she calls her favorite UFO story to date!
