"They call us" Russian fools ". Beloruska about life in Vietnam and adaptation in the local community Tatiana Pisarchuk has been living in Vietnam for 6 years, where she has been doing business, or, as Tatiana herself specifies, social entrepreneurship, since all of her projects are designed to benefit society. The family of Tatiana has two children, a cat and a dog. Tatyana told to us about how she changed the country and life. - We moved to Vietnam by chance: there was a good job offer, and after a little study of the country, we accepted it. Since then, much has changed, that work is no longer there, several businesses have gone bankrupt, several, on the contrary, have shown great potential. Now almost all of my startups are connected with the online mode, I purposefully engaged in this last year so that you can live anywhere. Two years ago we wanted to move to Hong Kong, but there were difficult conditions for starting a small business, now we are considering other countries with better ecology, a friendly environment for the development of new start-ups and lower taxes. For now our house in Hanoi, and we love this city very much. I liked Vietnam immediately, and I really like it to this day. I remember this feeling: the doors of the airport are moving apart, and hot, humid air envelops you, as if you are immersed in warm water. Unusually noisy, it feels like everyone else is competing to shout louder. At first, I didn’t have a smile on my face in response to an offer to give a lift, arrange, sell something, deliver - from smiling people who are ready to help me. I gladly accepted help. Somewhere in a week I realized that I was being deceived at every turn. Subsequently, I learned that this phenomenon even has the name "tax on a foreigner." The tax on a foreigner does not have a size, it may be +5000 dongs to a bottle of water, or maybe +500,000 dongs to a pair of shoes. Vietnamese do not consider deception something shameful: on the contrary, they are very happy about a successful deal and are proud of their enterprise. I also learned that they call us Nga Ngố, which can be translated as “Russian fools”, naive and inflexible. The daily difficulties in communication and the feeling that I was deceived at every step, strongly motivated me to quickly understand the language and study it at least at the household level. Since I know Chinese, I thought it would be easy for me to do that. But (surprise!) It turned out that, despite 60% matches in both languages, Vietnamese is much more difficult in pronunciation. After three months of individual lessons with a teacher, I discovered that I speak Chinese instead of Vietnamese, and Vietnamese instead of Chinese. My head almost exploded, and I decided to leave it at that. Since then, my language level has not progressed very much, but the understanding that I do not need Vietnamese is very advanced. (Smiles.) The first time we lived in an apartment in the city center. Of the benefits - in the building itself there was a gym, swimming pool, tennis court, restaurant, supermarket, 24/7 reception, where you could take a taxi or ask for any other help. Of the minuses - very noisy, gassed. A month later we moved to a villa in the West Lake region, there are many foreigners living there, beautiful views, good infrastructure. The first thing that struck in the new house is that it was attached to a living woman - an assistant. The hostess presented it to us at the meeting: "Meet, this is Huong, she worked for the family that lived in this house before you, and now she will work for you." We are: "Uh, and you might think?". And they caught two surprised eyes. Huong was generally surprised to take it personally. And then it began: I wanted to buy a chair from a foreigner who was leaving, and he says - let your assistant contact my assistant. We say that we do not have an assistant...And we catch another surprised look...To be continued...
