How are you guys holding up in lock down? Are you enjoying some good quality time with your families? Or is your husband already buried in the backyard?  This week Amanda has provided us with some great advice (or rules as she calls them repeatedly).   You don’t have to think of them as rules if you don’t want to, she ain’t the boss of you. These will hopefully make you feel a little better about yourself in your current state and give you some hope for the future. Although, she does demand you shower regularly and also basically calls Jessica a psychopath (she’s not bitter about it or anything), so maybe her advice is straight garbage. You decide. Well, who here has gotten so bored during their quarantine that they’ve binge watched the entire season of the Tiger King? Show of hands. Just about everybody? The highlight of this show seems to be that Carole may or may not have fed her husband Don to one of her tigers. However, there are apparently many other theories behind his death. Amanda was more than happy to use her quarantine time to do all the research for you about the different possibilities. Did he end up a delicious tiger treat? Was he a drug lord? Did he run away with a mistress to a foreign country? The world may never know.  But we can guess and make a ton of probably inaccurate assumptions! Did you watch the show? Welcome one and all to our first, and definitely not annual, CoronaCrawl. This week we “bar hop” through our own homes. This is in no way relevant to you because you can’t see where we are anyway. But! We’ll describe in great detail our surroundings so you can close your eyes and picture it as though you’re sitting right next to us. This will be especially enjoyable for those of you who are social distancing appropriately and are lonely like the rest of us.  Jessica arranged for us to sample some beers to try at each “bar”, also not relevant to you, but you can gain little tidbits of beer knowledge that you didn’t know you needed! YOU GUYS!!  Did you read the book this month?! Because it was actually good! Maddie stumbles upon and picks up a coin outside a pub, because like most girls, “oooo shiny!”.  Then the arrogant bartender of said pub shows up on her doorstep claiming she took the coin, he is a leprechaun, and she now gets three wishes. It was a little slow to start but the ending really made up for it. We thought it was pretty dang cute, but like all things, could have used more banging. What did you think? Despite what one might think, it is actually Merrows that are a pretty big deal in Ireland folklore, rather than the more obvious Leprechauns. So this week Amanda weaves us a fantasy tale of smokin hot green haired beauties.  She then immediately ruins it with facts like ugly red hats and sub-par man-maids. These sexy sirens travel onto land by magic, fall in love with their dream human, and make weird looking babies. Eventually their inner crazy comes out and apparently divorce is not an option so bye-bye dream human. No happily ever after for these Mermaids, sad face. That was a let down, but considering they’re not real anyway, Jessica will have to get over it. How sad are you that this week’s episode didn’t lead to fantasies about Aquaman? Sometimes we stretch our reasoning a little bit to make the week’s topic fit into our genre as a podcast (because talking about whatever we want is a genre?).  This week we bring you the subject of a poor gal named Mary who got a bad rap. How is this relevant? She was a carrier for Typhoid which, realistically, is in no way related to the Coronavirus.  Also, our friend Mary was Irish. And it’s now March so we’re gonna call it relevant AF. Back in the day Mary liked to cook food for rich families but wasn’t super great at washing her hands. A Sanitation Engineer connected the dots and attempted to warn her of her wrongdoings, which she promptly elected to ignore. Ultimately, this beech lived the rest of her days in denial, and also in isolation. Have you heard about Ms. Mary of the Typhoid before? Well folks, we hope you weren’t too excited about Smutentine’s day because this one was yet another bomb.  We had high hopes for another “holiday” themed book but this one followed in the footsteps of our New Year’s pick; the storyline had a lot of potential but the follow through was a giant fail. Unfortunately the review section that held the most content for this book was WTF; because seriously, what the eff? There were too many inconsistencies throughout this book, too much irrelevant material, and not enough good quality smut.  Lets face it, we could overlook pretty much everything else if there was at least some good smut. Valentine’s Day is a day for romance, love, and high expectations. How did yours fare this year? It’s February! The month of love. Or the month of forced romance if you’re a cynic.  Which we are. Technically February is termed National Creative Romance Month. “What does that mean?” you ask. This week we have for you another delightful review of a dirty book. While this book won’t be winning any awards from us we still enjoyed the opportunity to read about banging and then talk your ear off about it. The plot for this book held a lot of promise but we felt the author fell a little short on the follow through. Unfortunately this book scored one of the lowest of our past splash ratings. Another week of glorious, glorious smut has come and gone. Because September was Jessica’s birthday month she selected one of her favorite books for Smut Club- Dragon Actually by G.A. Aiken.  While it makes you a stable human being to be skeptical about reading dragon porn you will be pleasantly surprised by how much you enjoy this book. It is a real book, with a well written storyline, and characters you learn to love. Jessica is very pleased with herself and is happy to welcome you to her version of the dark side. While her original super top secret episode idea was stupendous in theory, Amanda’s plan was not executed. We’re. So. Sorry. And by we, we actually mean Jessica since she picked this garbage. The book for Smut Club this month was an epic failure. If you haven’t read the book yet, DON’T.  It was awful. We hated it (if you haven’t gathered that by now). The online book reviews gave it mostly 4 or 5 stars and used words like “dirty” & “dark to describe this book. Which makes it sound like it would be a worthy read. When in fact, each new “sex scene” (if you could even call them that), made the book harder and harder to pick back up again. The scenes were too aggressive and gave off too much of a rapey vibe for us. Maybe you’re into that, no shame, but it wasn’t up our alley and we apologize if we’ve scarred you for life. Jessica promises it will (probably) never happen again. The writing was also pretty subpar, the characters were poorly developed, and the plot was annoying to follow.  Don’t be too discouraged though, because we are back with Season 2 starting next week! We have a lot of promising material for your listening pleasure so stay tuned! We would like to take this moment to preface with, neither of us will ever commit suicide. That being said, Amanda has chosen drag us all into the scandal that is the Clinton Body Count. Maybe you’ve heard, maybe you haven’t; apparently a lot of people die of mysterious causes when the Clinton’s are involved. Amanda has thoroughly researched (googled for 3ish days), the many friends, business associates, or acquaintances of this power couple. Many of whom go on to suddenly develop the urge to commit suicide by unlikely means or place themselves in precarious situations that end poorly. By poorly we mean- they die. You tell us what you think. Is it all mere coincidence? Somehow, even though this episode is supposed to be geared towards going over our own 23andMe results, Amanda works in a little murder. We start the episode going over how a genetic testing kit led to the solving of an open murder case- The Golden State Killer. Then we read through some of the stories that you sent in for us to share! And finally, we go over our results without any sort of rhyme or reason. This week during WTF is up we get a Jessica’s Bird Update. Not familiar with what that is? It’s a long, drawn out, and not terribly necessary discussion about her new chickens. Then, Amanda plays us the theme song, which she has readily accessible at all times, and we jump right into the meat of this week’s episode-Star Wars! Amanda is obsessed, which is not news. This week Jessica was tasked with watching the first ever movie, A New Hope, and bringing her thoughts and questions to the discussion. She’ll admit, It wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be, and no, she didn’t fall asleep midway through. While she’s not a converted fan, she may be less mean about it to the rest of you nerds.  We finish of the episode with a small tangent about smokin hot old dudes. Another month has flown by and we’ve reached Jessica’s favorite and basically only reason to be here. It’s Smut Club time! This month, the sacred month of May, brought us Amanda’s birthday and thus her special request for a book containing Elves.  So here we are, reviewing Claimed by the Elven King, by Christina Rayne. By “claimed” the author actually means “kidnapped and held captive”. Another case of Stockholm Syndrome presents itself here folks. But since it’s a fictional book and elves are awesome we’re pretty convinced we would be okay with it too, as long as it comes with pointy ears. There is a decent quantity of the sex we all read these books for, but the quality of said sexytime is lacking. The author provides a really good amount of detail and imagination; we applaud her for this. However, there are some anti-climactic moments and some holes in the story. But in all reality, we’re just here for the dirty parts so whatevvs to everything else. Did you read the book?? Let us know what you thought! Ok, so this will be the last episode (hopefully) that Amanda gets to talk about her birthday. This week she gives us all a recap of her precious birthday weekend. Which will not come as a surprise to Jessica as she was there for the majority of it. These losers went to dinner together then escaped an Escape Room.  Which, if you haven’t done it, you should, super fun. Then, some genius (Amanda) had the idea for each of us to write our own smut books. So we’re gonna. We made up some rules for these “books” and plan to have them ready for your listening pleasure in one month. Jessica seems to think hers will be the greatest smut ever read to man, however, it could just make you bleed out your ears, we’ll see.  And finally, we discuss porn. Because why not? Amanda watched an episode of Red Table Talk and she has opinions. So we weigh in on the topic of whether or not we think porn can ruin a marriage. It’s finally here. Amanda’s long awaited birthday. Don’t worry, eventually she’ll get bored talking about herself. She has hyped up her birthday episode for weeks now and today she comes in below par with a bucket list. A list of shit she feels necessary to do prior to the 30 year milestone that she will hit next year. Her list is mediocre at best, so feel free to send in suggestions about what she should add. Friendly Reminder: It is still Amanda’s Birthday month. As promised, she has ignored all outside suggestions and picked her own damn topic for her WTF Wednesday segment this week. She has elected to go over in extensive, obsessive, grueling detail every aspect of the OJ Simpson Trial. Yipee for us all. Speaking of grueling, take note of the extra length of this episode. Buffy followed the trial closely while it was taking place and regales us all with her memories of the events that took place. Welcome to the Month of May!  A very important day happens in May- Amanda’s Birthday! If you had forgotten, rest assured you will be reminded multiple times. As usual during the first episode of the month we announce the Smut Club book of the month. Amanda’s first birthday wish has come true- Jessica was able to locate an Elven themed book for Smut Club. “Claimed by the Elven King” by Cristina Rayne. Then, because Amanda has a weird obsession with death, she has chosen a super cheerful theme for your listening pleasure this week. Basically, we take the better part of an hour to plan our own funerals. While we won’t be attending these events per se, we feel it is necessary to ensure they are celebrations to be remembered. We go through everything from venues, to what food will be served, to what music will be played. Likely all things more akin to a wedding; but we do what we want. And yes, Jessica is still sick. Someday she will grow up and figure her shit out. But until then, pretend you don’t hear the coughing. Next week is WTF Wednesday!! Jessica is back from vacation and there were no pina coladas to be had. The vast knowledge she gained from her trip: never, under any circumstances, take a toddler on vacation. But most importantly: It’s Smut Club Beeetches! The last week of the month we dedicate the episode to the Smut Club book of the month. For the month of April we read the book Claiming his Mountain Bride by Madison Faye. You guys. This one was a winner. Jessica did good. Finally. The plot is that of a typical smutty book, meaning we can poke a whole lotta holes into it. But it’s okay, because the sexytime parts will get you enough hot and bothered to make up for it. The word c*m comes up (pun intended) frequently in the book, and therefore it is not entirely our fault that it also makes an appearance frequently during our episode. If you have sensitive ears listen with caution. We rated this puppy a 4-4.5 on the Splash Factor scale. Welcome back to another WTF Wednesday! Amanda wows us all this week with the fantastical wonders of the sophisticated television show The Simpsons. Apparently the dude that wrote the show travels through time for the sole purpose of entertaining us all with quality animation and intelligent characters. You may recognize some of the instances that she mentions, especially if you are relatively up to date on random world events. However, if you live under a rock like Jessica, you won’t have any idea what she is referring to the entire time. Then, we get a creepy little preview of a future episode that may or may not pertain solely to the fact that Amanda and her house are haunted. Smut Club returns this week with our overall review of the March book of the month: Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost. We had some requests for a vampire book and after reading through what she thought were a sufficient amount of reviews, Jessica chose this book.  We gave it an okay-ish rating as an overall book but it was low on what we all want: dirty dirty smut. The main character had some good internal dialogue and the storyline was interesting enough. In the end we deemed her too whiny and overly dramatic to care about reading the next book in the series.
