There's something about being out in nature that gets my brain firing, and while hiking through Red Canyon, I started thinking about one of the biggest struggles women bring up in my coaching community: how to actually become a morning person. In this episode of Boss Bitch Radio, I'm breaking down the real-life habits that make early mornings easier - especially if you want to start working out consistently before work. We're talking about why your morning routine actually starts the night before, how to stop making excuses when the alarm goes off, and the biggest mistake people make when trying to build better habits. I also share my favorite "cheat code" for becoming a morning person (and honestly… some of you probably won't like it

There's a version of an acting career that looks like a highlight reel. Big auditions. Exciting callbacks. The moment everything clicks. Most working actors don't live there. They live in the Tuesday morning version. The one where nobody's calling, there's no audition on the calendar, and showing up anyway is the whole job. That's where I want to talk to you today. It doesn't start with a booking After 30 years as a working actor, I can tell you with real certainty: the career didn't come from the bookings. It came from who I decided to be on the days when absolutely nobody was watching. No callback waiting. No agent checking in. Just me, sitting down with my craft, saying okay. Let's go again. That's it. Not exactly a glamorous origin story. But consistency is like that. It's not cinematic. It's steady. And steady, it turns out, is exactly what a long career looks like. I've been a working actor for over three decades. Qualifying for health insurance. Making a living, some years better than others. That's freelance life. But it has been consistent, and I don't think I say that out loud enough. So I'm doing it publicly, right now. Why "waiting to feel motivated" is a trap Here's something worth sitting with: motivation is fickle. It comes and goes based on your mood, your last rejection, what you had for lunch. Systems, though? Systems show up whether you feel like it or not. Training goes in the calendar. Outreach goes in the calendar. Those tasks get a home so your brain doesn't have space to negotiate with you. Because if you let your brain negotiate, you might lose. Think about training the way you think about brushing your teeth. You don't wait to feel inspired for that. You do it because you're a person who brushes their teeth. Same energy. You do the work because you're an actor, not because every single session lights you on fire. And when those habits become automatic, you free up emotional bandwidth. More bandwidth means you show up to the work with more of yourself. Which is kind of the whole point. Quiet periods are not a verdict Three decades in, I can look back at the stretches that felt empty and see something different now. Most of them were setting up what came next. When the industry goes quiet, consistency still shows up. In the emails you send anyway. The relationships you tend. The self-tape you prep before anyone asks for it. The career is moving even when it doesn't feel like it. Quiet is not failure. Quiet is incubation. When you stop rushing to prove something, you can actually see where you're growing. Borrow from your future self Picture the version of you who works steadily. Who earns from this craft. What does that actor do today, when they don't feel like it? They train anyway. They follow up. They send the tape. They don't wait to feel ready because readiness isn't a feeling, it's a practice. That future self becomes your compass. Not the booking. Not the callback. The daily decision to keep going. That's the art of consistency. Grab my free PDF, Planning Out Your Day the Night Before
Facing fear, surrender, and trust in God’s plan takes center stage in the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus models honest prayer and unwavering obedience. The Night Before the Cross explores how Jesus’ surrender in Matthew 26:36–39 invites us to trust God—even when the path ahead feels overwhelming. On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus experienced deep sorrow and anguish, fully aware of the suffering He would endure. Yet in that moment, He didn’t hide His emotions—He brought them honestly before the Father. His prayer reveals a powerful tension: a desire for relief paired with complete trust in God’s will. This moment reminds us that faith isn’t the absence of struggle—it’s choosing trust in the middle of it. Because of Jesus’ surrender, we are invited to bring our hardest emotions to God while still believing in His greater plan. Highlights Jesus models honest prayer—bringing raw emotions to God without holding back Surrendering to God’s will doesn’t remove fear, but it anchors us in trust Even Jesus sought the presence of friends, showing our need for community Gethsemane reminds us that obedience often comes through deep struggle God’s plan can be trusted, even when it leads through suffering Jesus understands our pain, making Him a compassionate Savior True faith is saying “Your will be done” even when it’s difficult This episode is sponsored by Trinity Debt Management. Then he said to them, ‘My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.’ Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” – Matthew 26:36-39, NIV When I visited Israel and Palestine on a pilgrimage trip, I was moved to tears by the ancient olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane. Since olive trees regenerate, they can live for many generations. Some of those trees with the wide, twisted branches were descendants of the trees that were there when Jesus prayed in the garden the night before going to the cross. I imagined Jesus in agony there, knowing he would be crucified the next day and have to take the burden of all sin from his creation onto himself. No one had ever had such a heavy burden to carry in this fallen and broken world. Jesus asked Peter, James, and John to “stay here and keep watch with me.” He simply wanted the comfort of having his friends nearby. Jesus shows us that needing other people is an important part of being human. Even though his friends eventually let him down and fell asleep, the human part of Jesus reached out for their support. The divine part of Jesus knew that people are meant to encourage one another. Then, Jesus prayed: “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me.” He didn’t want to go through the excruciating physical pain of being crucified, but even more than that, he didn’t want the spiritual weight of carrying the world’s mistakes. He was completely honest with God when he asked if there was a way out. This is so encouraging for us today! It shows us we can tell God exactly how we feel, even when we’re dealing with difficult emotions. We don’t have to pretend to be happy when we’re actually sad, or to be peaceful when we’re actually terrified. God can handle our honest prayers about our most challenging feelings. But then, the story changes. After asking God the Father to change the plan if possible, Jesus added those famous words: “Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Jesus prayed with total trust. He knew that God’s will was best. Jesus trusted God’s plan more than he trusted his own human fear. His love for God and for humanity inspired him to let go of his will so he could do God’s will for us. We all have our own Garden of Gethsemane experiences – those times when we’re facing situations we don’t want to happen, and feel overwhelmed by them. But when we face those challenges, we can remember how Jesus prayed on the night before going to the cross. Jesus is a Savior who understands our sadness. He shows us that God isn’t afraid of our honesty. Most importantly, Jesus shows us how we can trust God’s plans for us, even while we’re challenged by those plans. The night before the cross was the darkest night in history, but it was also the night that proved just how much Jesus loves us! Intersecting Faith & Life: As you consider how you can be honest with God about your hard feelings and still trust God’s plans for you, reflect on these questions: When you’re going through a hard time, why is it important to you to reach out to friends or family? Jesus was “overwhelmed with sorrow” on the night before the cross. How does knowing that Jesus experienced so much emotional pain change the way you feel comfortable talking to him in prayer? Is there something in your life right now that you’re asking God to take away? If God keeps that in your life anyway, what will help you trust God in that situation? What makes it challenging to say: “Not as I will, but as you will” in your current circumstances? How does Jesus’ surrender in the garden give you hope for the difficult situations you’re facing? Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay head out on town to get messed up and cause havoc as they wrap up XXXmas by discussing one of the great modern Christmas comedies, 'The Night Before.' Andy starts it off by unwrapping a story about the time he did shrooms at a church with friends in his youth, and how the evening quickly unraveled. Then the fellas dive right into a movie they believe should be on the pantheon of Xmas movies. It wastes zero time getting to the debauchery, and much like Andy in real life, Seth Rogen's Isaac overshoots the mark with his narcotics use very early one. After encountering a talking nativity scene, and meeting a demonic baby, he ends up deciding to level out by taking even more drugs. Around that time, Anthony Mackie's Chris has one of the grimiest, and most memorable sex scenes. The hilarity and cameos continue as a sex-crazed James Franco, and his dong, make an appearance, but the MVP of the whole affair has to be Michael Shannon's celestial Mr. Green. Mirroring this episode, there's stories of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, with listeners who make it to the end earning their wings.

Listeners of The Wolf know that despite the fact that The Wolf lived mere yards (or meters) from Abbey Road, he and Action Jackson aren't huge Beatles fans. While he did go through a Beatles stage in high school, it was really an education on how the band evolved and created some amazing music which is still enjoyed and studied today. However, thanks to a run of 60s rock related movies that ran on Cinemax one night in the 80s, The Wolf became very familiar with Help! as he recorded the movie on VHS and watched it over and over. It was in technicolor, unlike A Hard Day's Night, and showed the boys having fun in exotic locales like Switzerland, The Bahamas, Stonehenge and Buckingham Palace. The seven tunes on the album that were included in the movie all hold up well and are fun to sing along with while you're watching. But the album is the first step moving from being bubble gum pop stars into more respected recording artists. We review the UK version of the album as the US version is shorter with orchestrated score tunes from the movie. The whole first side of the UK album features beloved songs from the movie like the title track, Ticket To Ride, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away and The Night Before. But the second side also features some Beatles classics like Ringo singing Act Naturally, I've Just Seen A Face and the all-time classic Yesterday. It's amazing that the boys were all so young (21-24) and were maturing before our eyes as they were now able to write more robust tunes with more mature themes. Bob Dylan had introduced them to marijuana by now and they'd done their first LSD trips which would show up more on an album from later in 1965, Rubber Soul (and after). But this one has one foot in the old, teenage dream Beatles phase and one in the more mature and experimental Beatles. We can't believe it's turning 60 but we went track x track to celebrate. An album pin is a lapel pin with artwork inspired by a specific album or song from an album. It could be the actual album artwork or it could be inspired by a specific track on the album. The best album pins stand out on their own. They appeal to more than just your fans. It is simple, bold, and visually engaging. However, what truly makes it an “album pin” is that the purchaser also gets a digital album with their pin. I have an entire blog on my website with details including templates for you to make your own album pin jacket. THANK YOU PATRONS OF THE PODCAST!
Starting this episode with our Partridge park ranger, Clark Freeman! Thank you so much for talking about your original audition (not a park ranger!), getting the call the NIGHT BEFORE and how sweet Adam Scott is! Plus, keep an eye out for his project! IMDBInstagramBut we MUST talk about how amazing Adam Scott is and how nice he was to respond to my fan theory on Severance, omg! Peep 9:14 minute mark!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vztTLzRXCSwThen I start the Animal Control episode paying homage to our hero Harris Wittels for being such a huge backbone of Parks and we are so lucky he left his mark with us. Truly an icon. Thank you Harris for being who are. :) His mom's article is listed here:https://www.huffpost.com/entry/the-loss-of-my-son-harris-wittels-to-heroin_b_5819fc80e4b01f610e394766We then dive into Animal Control, which is such a phenom episode of laughs and growth! Tom donates to charity?! April comes up with an efficient government solution?! RON EATS A BANANA?! AMAZING! Each of these one liners or bits are truly something to behold
+++ PLAYLIST +++ 22:57 - DISAPPOINTING THE DESIRE TO LAST von NOEMI BÜCHI 22:52 - CANOPY OF EDEN von CIRCUIT DES YEUX 22:47 - BETTER WAY TO LIVE von KNEECAP FEAT. «Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory» ist unser brandneues Sounds! Album der Woche. The first episode of 2025 is here! Even though we recorded it last year...yeah, bad joke, I know. We did our reflecting on what we want to try to do with the podcast last episode, so this week was all about recapping what Gnome, Blake, and Joe and Caroline had to say about things. Some of those things were: not being present for Beervent days, the real reason Taft's AleHouse closed, breweries to trainspot at, reserving pack and plays, what makes 19.2s so great, and Blake giving up on editing entirely. **The music used in the NFL Deathmatch Challenge is by DonRock the Imposter on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqKSIaE_QE8 @donrocktheimposter912 Week 18: Gnome's Pick : Bengals Marco's Pick : Commanders Julia's Pick : Chargers Current points going into Week 18: Gnome : 9 Marco : 13 Julia : 12 ----- This episode covers the following shows : The Weekly Pint - Ep 241 - Twas the Night Before the Night Before...
