A fan-driven Canuck's podcast made for fans. Join Kyle Welsford as he follows the Vancouver Canucks through wins, losses, injuries, trades, and everything in between.
The Canucks have been on a tear since the last podcast (9-3-0). They have been so good in fact, that the playoff conversation is no longer delusional to discuss. The Nucks have an important 7 game home stand coming up with multiple games against subpar opponents. The boys own their fate as they look to make a miraculous playoff push.
The Covid struck Canucks took on a grueling string of games that saw AHL goalie Spencer Martin shine and unlikely players who stepped up big; all while keeping the Canucks slim playoff hopes alive. I go over some possible trades that we could see the new Canucks front office make as well as take a look at the upcoming schedule. Big game on Saturday... nothing like beating the Leafs at home... 4:00 PM start... rediculous.
The Canucks embarked on a 5 game road trip which saw them play some of the league's best teams. While the trip did not start the way they wanted it to the Canucks strung together a couple of wins to salvage the trip and come home a .500 team. Bo Horvat and Conor Garland have been added to the Covid list which is a massive blow for the team moving forward, who will step up in the absence of these two goal scorers?
The Nucks have not played a game in over a week! Today I look at the current roster with the main focus of analyzing current and upcoming contracts. The Canucks have their fair share of good and bad contracts, Jim Rutherford will have his hands full determining who to extend, trade, or let go.
A lot has changed since my last Podcast. The Canucks have clawed their way back to .500 as Bruce Boudreau has gone 7-0-1 as the Canucks head coach. I examine how Bruce has changed the Canucks so quickly whilst also looking at what Jim Rutherford will bring to the front office. A tough schedule looms over the boys...
Today I take a look at the last 10 games for the Vancouver Canucks which saw them go 3-6-1 and included a dreadful 5 game losing streak. I examine both sides of the special teams which have been a letdown and the single biggest reason for the early-season struggles. Is it time for Green to go? Listen and find out!
Today we go solo and look at the early season struggles for the Canucks, Travis Green's curious lineup decisions as well as discuss some of the new faces on the team. What does the future hold for these Nucks, listen and find out!
WE ARE BACK!! Join Kyle Welsford and a mysterious new guest as they discuss the various offseason moves, the looming Pettersson and Hughes contracts, and potential line combinations for both offence and defence. We are happy to be back! Go Canucks Go!
The Canucks have been eliminated from the playoffs which means that we get to see some prospects like Lind, Rathbone and others get their chance in the lineup. McDavid picked up his 100th point in the 4 games against the Oilers and we got shut out once against the Jets...if that isn't the story of our season we don't know what is.
The Canucks lose both games against the Leaf's while being outscored 9-2. They were simply the better team. Theses losses did not come with a lack of effort as we saw flashes from some players including Kole Lind who impressed in his NHL debut. We take a dive into some young players that could see more ice time and the Elias Pettersson injury and contract situation.
The Canucks drop 3 of 4 big ones against the Sens and find themselves in last place in the North. The story of this series was the diminishing energy that plagued the boys throughout. We preview some rookies that could find themselves in the lineup near the end of the season as playoffs are a longshot at this point. It is just an unfortunate situation in a weird Covid filled season.
The boys come back resilient after fighting off Covid to sweep the 2 game series against the Leaf's. Holtby's best games as a Canuck could not have come at a better time. There were a lot of faces coming in and out of the lineup but the effort stayed consistent putting us in a position to take a run at the playoffs with a 4 game set upcoming vs the Sens.
The boys are back after a long break as the Canucks are set to hit the ice Sunday against the Leaf's. We breakdown the recent moves including contract extensions and trades while giving our take on the current state of the team. This is the final stretch of the year and possibly the final stretch for Benning and Green.
The series against Winnipeg had a bit of everything from our season this far as we dropped both games. Bad penalties, lack of traffic, great goaltending and an inability to score. Injuries continue to pile up as we look ahead to the trade deadline and final stretch of the season. We think the Canucks should sell but we will see what Jim does.
The Canucks pick up 3 out of 4 points in the last series against the Habs. We are beaten up and injured but have still been able to keep ourselves in games and in the playoff race. A look ahead at the series against Winnipeg and the much needed week of rest that will follow that.
It wasn't pretty, in fact it was ugly but, man we got 4 much needed points! Motte returns but, Pearson goes down as we continue to battle injuries. We discuss the Jimmy Vesey acquisition and look ahead to Montreal.
Canucks continue to ride Demko's hot hand and do whatever it takes to pick up 4 out of 6 points. They may not have been the prettiest wins, but nobody can complain about a win. We preview the upcoming Ottawa series and look forward to another matchup against Montreal. The boys just need to hold on until we can get healthy.
The Canucks sweep the Maple Leaf's with back to back wins. Strong performances by Thatcher Demko and the powerplay were crucial in both victories. Travis Green settled down and rolled 4 lines which allowed us to play with a lot of energy in both 3rd periods. 4 points without Elias Pettersson! Hopefully we can build off this series as we move on to a tough one against Montreal.
Canucks wrap up a back to back in Winnipeg as they see a split on the road. Demmer gets his 1st career shutout and the lotto line seems to be reinvigorated. Bad goaltending and more blending than you see at a Booster Juice left us with a loss in game 2. #FIREGREEN
The boys are back after another 2 losses, what's new?! Anemic powerplay, lack of adjustments, and terrible line combinations contribute to the series loss against the Oilers. #FIREGREEN
It's been a while but we're back with a double header after the Calgary and Winnipeg series. We break down a 6 game stretch in which the Canucks go 2-2-2, a positive Calgary series was followed up by a disappointing Winnipeg series. Coaching is heavily questioned in this episode as we feel like the boys are playing better hockey going into a 2 game set with Edmonton.
It was a dark week for Canucks fans as the team lost all 3 games to the Leaf's. We break down the games and question some major lineup decisions that were made during the series. Expectations for this team are currently up in the air as the quarter point has past and we can only look ahead from here.
The boys are back and my oh my are they cranky. Unfortunately, the Canucks revisit old habits and the Montreal Canadiens get the sweep. Turnovers and a lack of effort played a prominent role. We outline what went wrong and preview the Toronto Series.
We're back at you after a quick trip to Winnipeg that saw the Canucks continue their momentum and pick up an important 2 points before heading to Montreal. This was a complete effort, top to bottom as the Canucks made their first statement win of the year. We preview the upcoming series against Montreal which could look different than the last given this recent turnaround.
Today we discuss the series sweep over the struggling Sens. It's a good week to be a Canucks fan, this was just what the doctor ordered! This series saw the Canucks simplify their game as the lotto line, bottom six, and goaltenders all stepped up. We preview our upcoming road trip against the top 3 teams in the North division.
The Canucks host the Habs in a three game set to open up our home stand. While the powerplay finds a way to score, and the Canucks pick up one win, turnovers and a lack of focus were the main culprit in the two losses. Kyle and Thomas give their opinions on the level of play, coaching decisions, and the overall outlook on the team heading into the series against Ottawa.
The Canucks moved onto their second opponent with a two game trip to Calgary. The team lost both games largely due to the lack of special teams production. We discuss what changes we want to see moving forward and our levels of panic after four games.
The season has begun and the Canucks have finished their first series against the Oilers. The two game set saw one win and one loss for the team with many positives and negatives that can be taken away. We discuss the tale of two games and look ahead at the series against Calgary.
