With crunch time of the fantasy hockey season rapidly approaching, Flip and Steele continue to break down and analyze more of the trade offers they are making and receiving in their own leagues to offer some insight into what you could be doing in your own. Steele is considering making a deal for Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom and star forward Jonathan Huberdeau, both of whom are struggling to start the fantasy hockey season but Steele is in need of goalie help in a bad way. He would be trading them for New York Rangers sniper Artemi Panarin and beleaguered Vancouver Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko. What do you think he should do with this trade? The boys wrap the show with a classic "Who Would You Rather Own?" own between two intriguing fantasy hockey options in L.A. Kings up-and-comer Gabriel Vilardi and Anaheim Ducks winger Troy Terry, both of whom are on hot starts to the NHL season and both could bring value to any fantasy team Thanks for making Locked On Fantasy Hockey your 1st listen, every day. Even though we are barely even one month into the 2022-23 NHL season and new fantasy hockey campaign, there has been a pretty steady stream of intriguing news, injuries, and fantasy developments that would have any seasoned fantasy hockey GM looking for a deep breath and some assistance on what to do with their team. Same can be said for both Flip and Steele, who on Friday's episode take a look into both of their fantasy hockey squads to breakdown the week upcoming and where both of their teams could use improving; spoiler alert, they both need some help. Especially Steele trying to make up for bad goaltending from Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues and Thatcher Demko for the Vancouver Canucks. While on the other hand, Flip is looking to make up for his lackluster start from his young defenseman like Buffalo Sabres stud Owen Power and even up front with Columbus Blue Jackets star winger Patrik Laine. The boys finish the episode in style as usual with their best bets for the NHL betting board on Friday, which features only two games, one being in Finland between the Blue Jackets and Colorado Avalanche. BUY LOW: Filip Forsberg & Thatcher Demko Nashville Predators forward Filip Forsberg only has four points in seven games and the Predators are on a five-game losing streak. The man coming off a career high 84 points is likely to turn his game around and get back on track. Thatcher Demko is one player that for sure could use some luck right now... still winless on the season, the Canucks and Demko will eventually get their first win and get back into full gear for the next month. SELL HIGH: Valeri Nichushkin, Rasmus Dahlin & Jacob Trouba Nichushkin has recorded 12 points in his first five games this season while Dahlin has scored five goals and has eight points. Flip and Steele take a look into this draft which Steele had the 9th overall selection, which is a tough spot to draft from on the best of days, where with his first pick he selected Tampa Bay Lightning stud Nikita Kucherov. He followed that up with his strategy of pairing his top pick with a top fantasy defenseman from the same team and selected Victor Hedman, again of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Steele went on to select the likes of such players as Vancouver Canucks No. 1 goalie Thatcher Demko as well as later in the fantasy hockey draft he grabbed St. Louis Blues starter Jordan Binnington. I continued my Oilersnation Radio division preview series today with a stop in Vancouver to chat with Chris Faber of Canucks Army about what the team got up to this summer. After a brutal start to the 2021-22 campaign, the Canucks made a very strong late-season charge under Bruce Boudreau and ended up only missing the playoffs by five points. After an active summer of transactions, can they find a way to sneak into the postseason in 2022-23? Chris gave me his take on that. Their forward group looks better and with Thatcher Demko between the pipes, goaltending won't be an issue but there are some concerns with this team. We covered it all in today's preview. We also talked about the rollercoaster year that Elias Pettersson had last year and whether or not he can find a way to be a point-per-game producer for the Canucks this season. I also asked Faber how aggressive he thinks GM Patrik Allvin will be throughout the year when it comes to trying to fix the issues that exist on the teams blueline.I've already done 15-20 minute previews for the Flames, Ducks, Sharks, and Golden Knights. Justin and the boys discuss a number of intriguing fantasy angles with this Vancouver Canucks team, including what is the output for this season for young forward Elias Pettersson. Can he crack the top-15 in fantasy options this year with a big stepping-out style campaign? Do the Canucks have enough talent on the blue-line to support top fantasy hockey defenseman Quinn Hughes? There are a lot of question marks in Vancouver this season, but one of the constants is number one goalie Thatcher Demko, who is most definitely on the cusp of being one of the best fantasy hockey goalie options out there. As he prepares to turn pro this fall, Garand also shares insights from his training camp experience with the New York Rangers last season, including what it's like to step on the ice against Igor Shesterkin and learn from goalie coaching legend Benoit Allaire. He also takes us through the writing process he uses to make sure he's always learning from each of those new experiences, and how it provides a great reference point even when things aren't going as well. All that, plus our weekly plus a trip to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a closer look at the highly anticipated Flex 5 stick line, with two options now available, including one that earned praise from Thatcher Demko for its improved durability despite being even lighter weight.

With 53 days until camps begin, we continue to march forward with some stimulating hockey talk.  There are, at present 10 teams over the cap, some with multiple signings still to make.  The Canucks are an interesting subject and we break down what they may have to do in the near future.  The Bruins are still talking to Pavel Zacha, but have not made any moves on Bergeron, Krejci or Pasta.  J.T. Miller is still a Canuck, but should the Devils make an offer to pluck him away?  What would that move look like?  Should it include Damon Severson? Matthew Tkachuk has not been a Panther long, but his first press conference has shown us he already is a diehard Panther!  We talk about Philly signings and other teams and close out the show with a tweet that can only be described as foolish.  Give us a listen and tell us what you think!  Look for the Twitter poll on Thatcher Demko and Enjoy the Show!

You have Horvat and Boeser both looking for a raise. Says that not everybody can get a raise. Rick gave us an update on Kuzmenko and where the Canucks stack up against other contenders. Labeled by many as one of the last of the stand-up goalies by the end of his career in 2001, McLean shares stories on his early inspirations and coaching, talks about style, both in terms of eschewing the butterfly and perhaps not coincidentally never sustaining a groin or knee injury, and the iconic look he brought back for the Canucks 50th Anniversary celebrations, and having Thatcher Demko reach out last summer to make sure it was okay to do a tribute set this season. All that, plus a trip to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a look at the new Brian's G-Netik X5 line, a second price point option with plenty of pro level features.

Dregs wouldn’t be surprised if he keeps his job. Thinks that if he is out in Vegas he will only be unemployed for as long as he wants to be. He’s a very high experienced and quality coach. Talked about Boudreau. Says that Bruce has a lot of loyalty to the Canucks organization after bringing him back into the league. Thinks this is a good learning opportunity for Allvin to go through a coaching search but you have to look at the facts.Jeff Paterson in his regular spot. Talked about the Canucks being mathematically eliminated. We saw a different side of Boudreau last night. He was a real frustration about missing the playoffs. True to the character, as soon as he got out the door, there is Bruce turning on the charm. He hid it well when he got into the public. He really thought somehow, someway, that it would magically continue. Talked about if the Canucks will make the playoffs next year.Gregg Bell of the New Tribune in Tacoma joined Matt and Blake on the eve of the NFL draft. As per usual, started off talking about hockey and the his thoughts on the first Kraken season. Talked about Matt Beniers if he could be the face of the franchise in the city.
