(Laramie, WY) - Monday was Media Day at the University of Wyoming as various members of the region's radio, tv, print and digital outlets chatted with athletes and coaches. It's not often that the wide receiver coach gets a lot of attention at the event, but 2025 was different with the return of an all-time Cowboy great, Jovon Bouknight. Jovon played for the Cowboys from 2002-2005 and racked up over 3,600 receiving yards, placing him as the third best UW receiver in the category (behind only Marcus Harris and Ryan Yarborough.) After graduating, the Denver native began the shift from receiver to mentor. He's spent time coaching at Marshall, Kentucky, Oregon, Texas Tech and Utah State before returning to Laramie. “It is a full circle moment as it all started here at the University of Wyoming,” Bouknight told reporters when he first returned. “It is great to be back in the saddle with familiar faces with our student-athletes and coaches that have so much love and passion for this program. I'm ready to hit the ground running and go back to the foundation and fundamentals.” Coach Bouknight told County 10 at Media Day about some of his favorite memories as a UW athlete, "obviously the Vegas Bowl (2004) sticks out. I was only fortunate to win one Border War, so I think about that one from my sophomore year." Jovon said it's helpful to remember his playing days to instruct this 2025 group of Cowboy receivers, especially when it comes to the eventual cold weather. "It makes us unique, the mental aspect and being mentally tough about it. Understanding that it can play into your favor in late November if you're prepared for it." And the Pokes newest coach says while there's still some improvement he'd like to see before the August 28th opener at Akron, he's thrilled with the wide receiver room so far. "It's been going good. I think the energy is really high, guys are flying around. A couple guys that are new are working some kinks out. For the most part we're doing really well. The focus the next couple weeks is who's going to step up and make plays." To listen to the full chat we had to with Coach Bouknight, hit the player below! BT and Sal kick off their second hour in a heated debate over the Knicks' controversial hiring of Mike Brown. Sal, firmly against the decision, argues that Brown's resume – marked by short stints, past playoff failures, and even with LeBron James – makes him a questionable choice to lead the Knicks to a championship, especially compared to the recently fired Tom Thibodeau, who built a "sustained winner." BT, while acknowledging the risks, defends Brown, highlighting his success in Sacramento, his perceived ability to connect with modern players, and the need for a fresh, more offensively-minded approach to unlock the full potential of stars like Brunson and Towns, a dynamic that he believes Tibbs failed to address.

Sal Licata expresses strong disapproval of the New York Knicks' decision to hire Mike Brown as their new head coach, viewing it as a significant downgrade from the recently fired Tom Thibodeau. Licata argues that Brown, despite his Coach of the Year accolades, has a history as a "failed head coach" who hasn't won a championship and largely succeeded due to coaching LeBron James. He vehemently believes this "retread" hire doesn't align with the Knicks' stated goal of winning an NBA title, raising concerns about Brown's ability to instill discipline and truly elevate the team, especially compared to Thibodeau who guided them to their first Eastern Conference Finals in 25 years.

BT's initial reaction to the breaking news of the Knicks hiring Mike Brown is largely positive, rating it a "solid eight" out of ten, highlighting Brown's personality and offensive acumen as crucial for a team now expected to win a championship. He contrasts Brown's likely approach with Tom Thibodeau's "grunt work" personality, suggesting Brown brings a needed offensive flow. Sal, however, is vehemently against the hire, calling Brown a "retread" and expressing disappointment that this is the Knicks' answer to firing Thibodeau with the singular goal of winning a championship, further expressing his distaste for the idea of the Knicks even "kicking the tires" on Ben Simmons.
