It's the week of the NHL Draft and we are just eight days away from the beginning of free agency. While there wasn't a lot of news this weekend around the league, there is a lot going on behind the scenes and Frank kicked off today's edition of The DFO Rundown by giving a quick update on the trade market. Are the Sabres getting closer to moving JJ Peterka? Will the Islanders move Noah Dobson by the draft? From there, they dug into their offseason previews for the eight teams in the Western Conference that made the playoffs. They started with the St. Louis Blues, who are facing some big questions this summer. The Minnesota Wild are in a position where they can be hyper-aggressive. The Colorado Avalanche are low on funds, but need to make some moves to fix a roster that was bounced in the first round. The Los Angeles Kings are in an interesting spot with a new GM and boatload of cap space. They kept rolling and hit on the Winnipeg Jets, who are bringing in 3x Stanley Cup Champion Jonathan Toews. What else will Kevin Cheveldayoff do? The guys gave their takes. Vegas never sits still in the offseason and the expectacion is that they will push hard for Mitch Marner. The Dallas Stars already made some spicy decisions after getting bounced by the Oilers in the Western Confernce Final. They still need a coach, but will that be the last big move they make? They wrapped by talking about the Oilers, the McDavid extension, and what they need to do in order to get back to the Stanley Cup Final.Tyler joined for Buy or Sell where he asked about Marner's contract, Jake Allen's place on the goalie market, and the Rasmus Andersson situation in Calgary.1:45 - Peterka, Dobson and more8:20 - St. Louis Blues15:00 - Minnesota Wild21:00 - Contract Extensions (Kaprizov and McDavid)25:45 - Colorado Avalanche32:45 - Los Angeles Kings40:20 - Fill in the Blank52:00 - Winnipeg Jets1:00:00 - Vegas Golden Knights1:05:25 - Dallas Stars1:07:55 - Edmonton OilersWant to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? The Oilers fell to the Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final for the second straight year, with Florida delivering near-perfect performances in Games 5 and 6 and showing superior depth, structure, and goaltending throughout the series. Injuries mounted on both sides, but Florida’s culture and cohesion carried them through, while Edmonton struggled without Zach Hyman and leaned too heavily on McDavid and Draisaitl, who couldn’t singlehandedly turn the tide. Sam Bennett earned the Conn Smythe with a historic playoff performance, and GM Bill Zito now faces the challenge of re-signing Bennett, Marchand, and Ekblad. Meanwhile, the Oilers enter a pivotal offseason with key extension talks looming for McDavid and Bouchard, major cap questions, and ongoing uncertainty in goal.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's 2025 NHL Entry Draft Rankings time! Tune in as we begin by going over 1st round draft rankings (who will Steve Yzerman have available for the Detroit Red Wings at 13th overall?) from both Brad Krysko and newest WWP contributor, "LGRWProspects" (Zak Egan - check out his full rankings here: https://www.wingedwheelpodcast.com/post/2025-nhl-draft-rankings) - rankings listed below. (3:35) We then discuss whether it's better for Yzerman to trade the 13th overall pick to move up or get help on forward for Larkin, Raymond, DeBrincat, Kasper, and Kane, or on defense to aid Seider, Edvinsson, Sandin Pellikka, and Johansson (18:15). After that, Vladimir Tarasenko's name being on the trade block, an update on Dmitri Buchelnikov, and more goaltending depth behind Sebastian Cossa and Trey Augustine added to the system (25:50). Next, an update on the Stanley Cup Final as Bennett, Tkachuk, and Paul Maurice's Panthers sent McDavid, Draisaitl, Bouchard, and the Oiler off the deep end in game 3 (35:55). Then, NHL awards updates as Lane Hutson wins the Calder and Cale Makar wins the Norris (45:45) and a look at the NHL trade and free agency landscape, as names like Jason Robertson, Alexis Lafreniere, Bowen Byram, K'Andre Miller, William Karlsson, and many more are floating around (51:45). Today's word of the day is ‘rattled' as in Oilers as in Stanley Cup as in fighting as in the Florida Panthers. That's right. A Game 3 thrashing by the Panthers and it's now a 2-1 series lead. The Oilers looked like the Panthers just got to their heads and they couldn't do anything but fight and commit penalty after penalty. The Panthers are deep, scoring from most shifts. The Oilers rely so much on McDavid and Draisaitl that when they dont produce, they lose. (14:30) The Red Sox called up top prospect Roman Anthony yesterday and he debuted vs the Rays. Not a great game, but that's not the story. (33:00) Review: Better Sister. (36:30) What is happening with Giannis? Is he staying? Will he request a trade? What will happen!? (44:40) The Pacers are already focused on the offseason. Well, the front office is. What will happen with Myles Turner? (50:00) NPPOD. Learn more about your ad choices. Today's word of the day is ‘McOverrated' as in Connor McDavid as in the Edmonton Oilers as in NOT overrated. The Panthers jumped out to a 3-1 lead and blew it! Leon Draisaitl had the game-winner, McDavid had two assists. And Edmonton has the 1-0 series lead. Who doesn't love playoff overtime? We will also break down taxes! Who doesn't love taxes!?
