Play Episode Listen Later Nov 2, 2020 58:29

Ever met someone who rambles on about their great day to a person whos clearly bumming? Like a homegirl that gushes about her great relationship while you're sulking over a recent break-up. Either that broad is a self-centered jerk or she lacks some feels smarts. The ability to clock an emotion, control it, and express it authentically. It's also that ability to be like "oh damn this person is clearly hurting my beeeee" Experts call this emotional intelligence. Emotional Intelligence: the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically. This episode of OGWIT, I discuss being feels smart with dear homie of the show, John! What is emotional intelligence? How is it measured? And what are the benefits of developing this kind of intelligence. I've cried holding my stomach wanting my waist to shrink. I've compared myself to people on social media being fully aware I'm yearning to be like them. I've bullied myself about my daily routines, pinpointing my "weak points". Negative body image built on negative self talk and rumination on my body flaws. Can you relate? This episode I rant about my body image journey and what I do to combat the effects of negative self talk in a world that is hyper critical of the female form. trigger warning explicit language used throughout colorization body alternations cosmetic surgery

Walter White, Don Draper, Tony Soprano. These are not "good guys". The antihero is a character who's a fucking asshole. Deficient in every social aspect level society finds essential to warding off anarchy but some part of them reaches us. However there are baddies who are just plain bad and we can’t look away. There’s no catchy songs to defuse the level of violence we witness with a truly terrible malefactor. So what's the draw? In this episode Amanda and John discuss the psychological theories behind what makes outlaws so tantalizing for us. *Trigger Warning* In this episode we discuss... Like a lot of other kindhearted empaths I find myself drawn to the "bad guy" except unlike my counterparts I don't want to fix them, I just want to watch 'em work. Of course I know what they're doing is wrong..but for some reason I am captivated. What's that all about? What makes the villain so damn appealing when they should be revolting? And at what point does our villain become an anti-hero, a lovable maniac we can't help but root for? Join myself and friend of the show John as we discuss some of the baddies we love to despise (but kinda hope don't get caught) Explicit language and the phrase "quote unquote" used frequently throughout *Trigger Warning* In this episode we discuss... This is part two of Amanda and special guest Tiffani aka @MoonQueenTiff gabbing, ranting, and cackling their way through explaining why this line of work needs regulation and decriminalization. As of right now, the world on online sex work is a modern day wild, wild west. Without a presence around to uphold the law, sex workers are being harassed, beaten, robbed and killed. And why is there no presence to keep workers safe from violent monsters disguised as men? Because the workers are criminals in the eyes of the law. Help normalize and decriminalize Sex Work!
