Send us a text! (add your email to get a response)We all know those moments—when everything feels either perfect or disastrous, when someone is either completely trustworthy or utterly toxic. "All-or-nothing," "black-and-white," or dichotomous thinking, shapes our relationships, political views, and self-perception in profound ways. But where does this all-or-nothing approach come from, and why is it so hard to escape? In this episode, we dive deep into the surprising evolutionary purpose behind rigid thinking patterns. Far from simply being a cognitive flaw, black and white thinking often emerges as a survival mechanism for those who've experienced trauma or instability. The problem arises when we carry these protective patterns into everyday life, relationships, and social media interactions where complexity is essential. We explore how dichotomous thinking manifests differently across various conditions—from personality disorders where it permeates every interaction to PTSD where it might remain confined to specific triggers. We share personal examples, research findings, and practical strategies for recognizing when you've fallen into extreme thinking. Then, we outline the evidence-based strategies for breaking free of the extremes of dichotomous thinking.Whether you're dealing with a loved one who sees the world in absolutes or noticing this pattern in yourself, we understand why our brains crave certainty and how embracing the gray areas might be the key to deeper connections and better mental health. We offer both compassion for why we develop these patterns and concrete tools for finding your way back to nuance.Resources:Bonfá‐Araujo, B., Oshio, A., & Hauck‐Filho, N. (2022). Shame does not regulate—it entangles. At the quantum level, gendered shame functions as Thomas Campbell's “holographic glue,” binding humanity to collapsing wavefunctions of patriarchal domination and Lilith's exiled rage. This essay posits that modern gender wars stem not from biology but from epigenetic karmic loops where shame mutates into Hawkins' Level 20 (Guilt/Shame), enslaving men and women in Carl Rogers' “conditions of worth” while their shadows metastasize as Dark Triad pathologies.

(Recorded February 12th, 2025)   Deception and self-interest seem to be increasingly prevalent in our modern cultural reality. From the highest levels of power to the cultural metrics of what is considered ‘success' for individual humans: the Dark Triad traits of Narcissism, Sociopathy, and Machiavellianism have become disturbingly normalized. But is there an antidote? Could an opposing “Light Triad” of traits - if nurtured and protected - offer a path toward a society in service of life rather than power? In this Frankly, Nate explores the concept of Light Triad personalities and their struggle against the Dark Triad forces shaping our social, economic, and ecological landscape. He examines how social media amplifies manipulation, why individual goodness is often outmatched by structural incentives, and whether strong, cooperative groups might hold the key to shifting the balance. Importantly, he questions whether the Light Triad can ever truly compete - or if it must evolve new strategies to stand a chance in service of life. How many people does it take to shield a Light Triad individual from Dark Triad manipulation? Will these competing traits become more or less dominant as we move into the downslope of the Carbon Pulse? And can someone with a Dark Triad personality ever truly change, or are they hardwired for self-interest?   Show Notes and More Watch this video episode on YouTube   ---   Want to learn the broad overview of The Great Simplification in 30 minutes? Vulnerable Minds: The Harm of Childhood Trauma and the Hope of Resilience

Each year at least a billion children around the world are victims of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) that range from physical abuse and racial discrimination to neglect and food deprivation. The brain plasticity of our most vulnerable makes the adverse effects of trauma only that much more damaging to mental and physical development. Those dealt a hand of ACEs are more likely to drop out of school, have a shorter life, abuse substances, and suffer from myriad mental health and behavioral issues. The crucial question is: How do we intervene to offer these children a more hopeful future? Neurobiologist and educator Dr. Marc Hauser provides a novel, research-based framework to understand a child's unique response to ACEs that goes beyond our current understanding and is centered around the five Ts—the timing during development when the trauma began, its type, tenure, toxicity, and how much turbulence it has caused in a child's life. Using this lens, adults can start to help children build resilience and recover—and even benefit—from their adversity through targeted community and school interventions, emotional regulation tools, as well as a new frontier of therapies focused on direct brain stimulation, including neurofeedback and psychedelics. While human suffering experienced by children is the most devastating, it also presents the most promise for recovery; the plasticity of young people's brains makes them vulnerable, but it also makes them apt to take back the joy, wonder, innocence, and curiosity of childhood when given the right support. Vulnerable Minds is a call to action for parents, policymakers, educators, and doctors to reclaim what's been lost and commit ourselves to our collective responsibility to all children. Marc Hauser is an educator, neuroscientist, and the founder of Risk Eraser, a program that helps at-risk kids lead healthier lives. He is a former professor of evolutionary biology and psychology at Harvard University and the author of over three hundred papers. His books include Wild Minds: What Animals Really Think, Moral Minds: The Nature of Right and Wrong, Evilicious: Cruelty = Desire + Denial, and his new book Vulnerable Minds: The Harm of Childhood Trauma and the Hope of Resilience. Shermer and Hauser discuss: • Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) • Hauser's personal adversities • types of adversity • LeBron James story from childhood trauma to NBA triumph • The Dark Triad: psychopathy, machiavellianism, narcissism • Attachment Theory • Disorganized Attachment • Borderline Personality Disorder • sexual abuse and eating disorders • substance abuse, suicide, obesity, depression, liver disease, school dropout, lower life expectancy • timing, duration, severity, and predictability of ACEs.

The Art of War on Amazon (Part 3) Welcome back to Seller Sessions! In this third installment of "The Art of War on Amazon," Danny dives deep into the psychological strategies and leadership principles that can elevate an Amazon business. If you haven't listened to the first two parts, I highly recommend you do so for better context. Let's explore these insightful principles: Blaming Your Competitors Locus of Control: This psychological concept differentiates between internal and external perceptions of control. Amazon sellers often fall into the trap of attributing their failures to external factors, such as competitors' pricing. This external locus of control can hinder growth by focusing on barriers rather than improving strategies. Success on Amazon hinges on innovation and customer data—control your actions, not the competition. Lead by Example, Not Fear True leadership is about modeling the behavior you expect. Inspire your team with hard work, integrity, and dedication, rather than intimidation. Leading with fear breeds resentment and disengagement, while leading by example cultivates respect and loyalty. As the saying goes, "a fish rots from the head down," highlighting the importance of positive leadership. Never Outsource Well-Being to Social Media Social networks are engineered for attention, often at the cost of mental well-being. While they can be useful for business, they can also lead to doomscrolling and unhealthy consumption of content. Remember, social media is not the real world. It's crucial to maintain a balance and not let it dictate your happiness or productivity. For Revenge, Dig Two Graves Pursuing revenge harms both the seeker and the target. It feeds anger and bitterness, leading to a cycle of retaliation and conflict. Instead of seeking revenge, focus on your success and personal growth. As Danny puts it, “holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” The World Doesn't Revolve Around You Accountability and hard work are key. When you take responsibility and replace entitlement with effort, you'll notice positive changes in your results. It's not the world that's changing but your perception and actions. Change begins within, and as you adapt and grow, the world aligns with your progress. You're Exactly Where You're Meant to Be You are the sum of countless micro-decisions. If you're not happy with your current situation, identify and understand your patterns. Use critical thinking to break negative cycles. Remember, you are often the common denominator in your experiences, so focus on self-improvement. Never Communicate Sincerely with the Insincere Engaging with people who have no intention of resolving issues is a waste of time and energy. Recognize crazy-making behavior and avoid getting entangled in it. Sometimes, the best response is silence, preserving your energy for more constructive interactions. Needs vs. Wants Reflect on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs to understand what truly motivates you. This hierarchy emphasizes the importance of meeting basic physiological and safety needs before pursuing social, esteem, and self-actualization needs. Understanding this can help keep your entrepreneurial drive in perspective. Optimise for Peace, Not Happiness Happiness is fleeting, but peace can be sustained long-term through self-accountability, self-awareness, and strong boundaries. Cultivate relationships that add value to your life and remove those that don't. Metaphorically, without war, you cannot have peace. It's the struggles that teach you the value of tranquility. Presence Over Presents Your time and attention are the most valuable gifts you can give. Whether it's to your loved ones or team members, being present and attentive creates lasting positive impacts. People will always remember how you made them feel. Hold Down Your Own Power Strong individuals maintain their power and protect others, whereas weak individuals seek to take power from others. By establishing strong boundaries and practicing self-accountability, you become resistant to manipulation and empower yourself. Conclusion Danny wraps up this session with a teaser for the next and final part of "The Art of War on Amazon." He promises to delve into the psychology of black-hat sellers using the Dark Triad framework, emphasizing the importance of deception in warfare as quoted by Sun Tzu. Tune in next time as Danny continues to equip Amazon sellers with the strategies needed to navigate and succeed in the highly competitive marketplace. Until then, take these principles to heart and implement them to gain a competitive edge. Looking for a Free PPC Audit? DataBrill

X2M.177 Quaternion Sermon Outline Psalm 87 Holy Spirit called out twisted ankles and mobility issues including joint pain Jeremiah 20:7 Sermon Philippians 3:8 Rolling back the razor if we have the wisdom to say my assets are my liability. All things are rubbish. Verse 1–repetition is good for you Verse 2–Beware of dogs, evil workers, and the mutilation. Compared to the Dark Triad in behavioral psychology Taught this last year––like Paul repeating himself Psychopathy, narcissism, machiavellianism Psychopathy–mutilation of self or others, cut them off or cut them down Nacissists–dogs/sexaully impure, use others, everyone is a victim or an opportunity Machiavellism–those who work for themselves, claim they made their own success for themselves, endless cycle of toil produces anxiety Dark Triad as part of man's fallen nature Verse 3–We are of the circumcision by faith who worship by the Spirit of God This is the sequence in our events: One. We don't know what to do. Have Your way. I don't have anything to bring to the table but my life. We will worship by the leading of the Spirit. Two. The Holy Spirit comes to Carroll and magnifies the Word to him. Go here, He says. Three. Carroll goes to that scripture and comes into agreement as a son with the Father. Four. The Father makes Himself known to Carroll by way of the Spirit. This is the double connotation. Through this revealing by the Spirit and Carroll's agreement, Carroll can locate the Father. Five. Carroll and the Father agree. Six. There is a movement by the Holy Spirit. “The Holy Spirit becomes like a maternal feature that comes to the son or daughter and explains the Father. The Father connects back to the son and the Holy Spirit is there to help the Father/son relationship to be connected. But then when the son experiences the relation of the Father, then the son sends forth the Spirit. It is called spiration.” Or in other words, “The Spirit comes to magnify Jesus, the Word. The Word connects back to the Father. The Father signs off on it. The relationship with the son comes, and there is a transmission of the Spirit. Every time we gather, I see this pattern employed in these events.” Here is an example of a double connotation from this week. “I received a book called The Mystical Theology of the Eastern Church. I opened it up and right off the bat he gets into the darkness, the high priest crossing over, and the canopy, all language from last week, and I thought ‘this is phenomenal.' Then the next chapter is “God in Trinity,” a clue to this week. And I said, ‘Man, if You are not leading this congregation.'” After penetrating the divine darkness and moving in, we get to contemplate the Godhead, the greatest human endeavor ever. Because of the fall, we need the Father to come to us maternally by the Spirit to restructure our soul back to what was intended so that we could have a relationship with Him. He wants to relate to us, but it hurts our feelings because His presence exposes us. He is so loving, but He runs everybody off or everybody dies, because of His holiness. So this is what He says: “I'm going to go die. I'm going to give My blood. I'm going to make a way back for humanity. I'm going to restore them back to me. And they are going to be able to relate to Me, because I love them so much.” The name of this event is Quaternion, which is actually Qua and On flanking the essence of eternity. This is the oneness with the Godhead, the Qua-on living in eternity with the Trinity. Verses 4–6 Blameless is not enough God is infinitely better than us Verses 7–8 “I have suffered the loss of all things.” Because He is worth it. Let us find true stability in worshiping Him. That is why this event is characterized as a Hover System. Glorification | The Final Frontier Going Boldly Where The Last Man has Gone Before! Which leadership traits are ideal and who decides? How important are confidence and assertiveness versus interpersonal sensitivity and empathy? Are we better off with the relaxed, caring, leader who strives to “do it harmoniously,” or the motivated, inspirational leader who strives to “do it together”? The logical, cautious leader who strives to “do it right,” or the determined, competitive leader who strives to “do it now”? Which traits are associated with positive outcomes, and which are associated with negative outcomes? Emerging research is showing that it is time to reexamine a broken system that constantly praises traits that can lead to dark leadership,  exploitativeness, and abuse of power. We don't have a democracy, we have a kleptocracy that elevates to positions of power those amongst us who are most comfortable with leaning into their inner Dark Triad of Psychopathy, Narcissism and basic low cunning.  Then, when they get there, we're surprised that they go on to wreak havoc with all that we believe to be good and right and beautiful. Doing the same thing time after time is the very definition of insanity - clearly we need a new way of connecting, of communicating, of articulating our needs and wants that give us a sense of connection, agency and sufficiency, that bring out the best of us, not our own inner dark triads. We need a new means of governance that works from the ground up and works for a thriving future for the human and more-than human world. This week's guest is absolutely immersed in the questions of how we transform our governance. More than this, he is immersed in actually making it happen. Alex Lockwood was a Senior Lecturer in Professional and Creative Writing at Sunderland University and he practiced what he taught - because he's also the author of a novel, The Chernobyl Privileges and a non-fiction memoir, The Pig in Thin Air. More recently, he was actively involved in Animal Rebellion, a kindred organisation to Extinction Rebellion and then that evolved into becoming a founder member of The Humanity Project, an astonishing, life-affirming, inspiring collective movement for change. At the times when the news about climactic tipping points and the loss of sulphur particles and the impact of el Nino combines with the horrors of political destruction around the world, it's really good to remember there are highly motivated, highly intelligent people getting together to create visions for change that will work and to which we will all look forward. This podcast rekindled my belief in a future that can work. A high profile case of people behaving appallingly on behalf of an organisation is big news in the UK, known as the Post Office scandal. The question of why people do unethical things to support the business, religion or cult to which they belong, has been researched and is multi-faceted. Today Stephen and Celine explore the psychological research into "Unethical Pro-organizational Behavior" as it relates to businesses but also cultic religious groups. They explore possible social reasons but also the Dark Triad of personality traits that may, in some cases, be at play.  To reach out to us: https://www.culthackers.com/ To become a patron: https://www.patreon.com/culthackers/posts Next week's guest, Carmel Mikol's docuemtery film: https://www.carmelmikol.com/film References and links explainer https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56718036.amp Fehr, R., Welsh, D., Yam, K.
