I had the pleasure of interviewing my new freind Pete Sears, super nice guy, this weekend thanks to an introduction by Michael Falzarono. For those that don’t know Pete he’s is currently in a band touring with Melvin Seals and JGB, Moonalice, taking from the Honeymooners "from the moon and back Alice”. The band features Roger McNamee, Pete Sears, Barry Slesss, John Polo and Jason Crosby. Pete, Barry and John are also in one of my favorite bands, The David Nelson Band. For those that don’t know David Nelson, I am not sure you will be reading this, but check out The New Riders of The Purple Sage, one of the finest bands in the land, David being a founding member of the NRPS, who I hope to meet some day and listen to daily with many freinds in common. Pete has a legendary history in music which you can see on Wikipedia, playing keyboards on Maggie May with Rod Stewart, bass with Jefferson Starship to the current day with The David Nelson Band and Moonalice. I’ve gotten to see him and feel his bass a few times at Dark Star Jubilee and this past weekend at The Stone Pony, what a pleasure. Robert Hunter Tribute show. There really are no words and totally not about me and more about all of us. Robert Hunter passed to the other side last week, there are no words other then Thank you! I will do my best to tribute him here with a few words and songs to fill the air. Text Jerry Garcia spoke about So Many Roads in an interview with Dave DiMartino in 1992; It's Hunter writing me from my point of view, you know what I mean? We've been working together for so long that he knows what I know. The song is full of references to things that have to do with me.... ....Hunter is the only guy that could do that. He can write my point of view better than I can think it, you know what I mean? So that's the kind of relationship we have. And he frequently writes tunes from my point of view that are autobiographical. There actually biographical I guess. He's the one writing them, but even so they express my point of view - and more than that they express the emotional content of my soul in a certain way that only a long-term and intimate relationship with a guy as brilliant as Hunter coughs up ... Tommy is one of the best rhythm guitar players I get to see and has the Bobby parts down pretty great. He also one of the most humble people I know. Check it out, killer Love Light at the end.

Raised on Rock and Roll, trained in Opera, and singing it all - internationally acclaimed vocalist, Clare Maloney, has spent the last decade of her young career making a name for herself as an in-demand concert artist at venues all over the world, including tours on the East and West Coasts, and performances throughout Europe and Asia. In her native New York City, she has appeared multiple times at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Town Hall, Symphony Space, 92ndY, Merkin Concert Hall and National Sawdust. She is equally at home on the rock stage, and has performed with members of The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Starship, Blood Sweat & Tears, Hot Tuna and the New Riders of the Purple Sage. She currently tours with The Englishtown Project – a tribute to the Grateful Dead, New Riders of the Purple Sage and The Marshall Tucker Band – with notable performances at Brooklyn Bowl, The Stone Pony, Highline Ballroom, and Toad’s Place among others. A uniquely versatile artist, she has also lent her voice to many studio projects including jingles, TV theme songs, national ad campaigns, and new music by composers writing for Broadway, Jazz, Opera and the concert stage. Most recently, Clare debuted her solo show to two sold-out crowds at the Tarrytown Music Hall, and is currently developing her first album of original music.

Hello everyone, I am Chris Lipper from On The Bus Events Podcast. In this episode, I had the opportunity to interview Rob Barraco & Jeff Mattson. Rob Barraco is an American keyboardist. Born and raised i& n Long Island, NY, he has played with Phil Lesh and Friends, The Dead, Dark Star Orchestra, Chris Robinson & New Earth Mud, the Zen Tricksters, Red Flannel Hash, and The Dragonflys. He was the permanent keyboardist for Phil Lesh and Friends from 2000 to 2003 and has been in the band's line-up at other times. He also played keyboards (alongside Jeff Chimenti) when ex-members of The Grateful Dead reformed as The Other Ones (in 2002), and then as The Dead. Jeff Mattson (born July 3, 1958) is an American musician. He was raised on Long Island, NY. Mattson is founding member of the jam band, the Zen Tricksters, and guitarist in the Donna Jean Godchaux Band with Jeff Mattson, which features the Grateful Dead’s Donna Jean Godchaux. Mattson was named the permanent lead guitarist for Dark Star Orchestra in November of 2009. A veteran of 30 years on the road, Mattson is a guitar player whose style ranges from rock & roll to blues, bluegrass, country, jazz, folk and psychedelia.

Hello everyone, I am Chris Lipper from On The Bus Events Podcast. In this episode, I had the opportunity to interview Cotter Michaels. So I don’t know about you, but when I go see music it’s mainly about the sound. Can be the scene, can be the friends, can be what’s happening on stage, but at the end of the day it’s the sound. The mix is a HUGE part of all that and Cotter Michaels is the master. From out door mega venues like Red Rocks to small indoor and out door venues, Cotter can make any room work and far from effortlessly and he takes very seriously. He’s a pro! You may recognize Cotter as the sound board guy from Dark Star Orchestra and many other larger types of music events. Cotter has mixed sound for bands since the early 80’s when I first met him. He has a wealth of information that he’s happy to share it with you from Hockey, Frisbee, Table Tennis and of course music. Fun fact about Cotter is he’s world class Table Tennis player who plays with a very unusual non aggressive style, knowing Cotter makes total sense. Cotter Michaels and I have been freinds for years and part of the DSO formula for me. A show would not be complete without the pre and post show hellos and conversations guessing the show based on the stage set up that night, he’s never even once given it away to me. Rob Wolfson is a Lead Guitar/Vocals: Having already developed into a formidable blues rock player at the age of 12 by studying Eric Clapton and Jorma Kaukonen, Rob entered the world of Grateful Dead music in ’69 and has continued exploring ever since. Notable projects include Dead Sage, Joe Gallant’s Illuminati Orchestra and DeadCenter All Stars, which he established in the late 90’s with the Wetlands Preserve Club and is still going strong today. Hello everyone, I am Chris Lipper from On The Bus Events Podcast. In this episode, I had the opportunity to interview Jay Blakesberg. He is an American, San Francisco-based, photographer and film maker. Since the summer of 2007, Blakesberg has produced and directed the live concert video at numerous music festivals including Rothbury, Lollapallooza, Summer Camp Festival, moe.down, Nateva Festival, Langerado and Mountain Jam. In the spring of 2009 Blakesberg went on the road with the re-united – Grateful Dead original members calling themselves "The Dead" as their tour photographer and video documentarian. The photographs from this tour were used in a print on demand tour book series, while over 15 short films created were used to document and market the tour. Currently Blakesberg continues to document Rock and Roll culture photographically while exploring numerous video projects. In 2015, Blakesberg published "Guitars That Jam—Portraits of the world's most storied rock guitars" which explores the history of many of the guitars in the Jamband scene. Featuring images from live concerts and outdoor festivals, this volume captures the personal connection between artist and instrument. Along with the guitar's make and model, each image is accompanied by a story from the musician detailing the instrument's special characteristics, as well as its significance to them and rock history. Including photographs of Neil Young, Carlos Santana, Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh,Trey Anastasio, Derek Trucks, and Warren Haynes to name just a few. Guitars That Jam features a foreword written by Warren Haynes and is an excellent photographic guide to the world of improvisational rock guitars

In this episode, I had the opportunity to interview Sunshine and Zach from the JGB Band JGB is an American rock band led by Melvin Seals, who plays electric organ. Its mission is to continue the musical legacy of the Jerry Garcia Band, of which Seals was a longtime member. Sunshine Flower Garcia is an American singer who performed backing vocals for the band Furthur. Despite her maiden name, Garcia, she is not related to Jerry Garcia, an incorrect assumption made by some because of her involvement with Furthur, a post-Garcia incarnation of the Grateful Dead. Zach Nugent’s playing is soulful, rootsy and organic, the kind of sound that grows out of the music naturally and effortlessly. He gigs almost nightly, singing and improvising in different projects around town and around the country. A lifelong Grateful Dead fan, Zach has a musical resume with that one vital, matchless feature: As far back as he can remember, music has been an integral part of his life.

Hello everyone, I am Chris Lipper from On The Bus Events Podcast. In our first episode, I had the opportunity to interview Michael Falzarano. Michael is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He has been a professional musician since the 1970s, most notably in Hot Tuna, the New Riders of the Purple Sage, and the Memphis Pilgrims, a Memphis-style rock and roll/blues band that he founded in 1986. Falzarano released an album entitled We Are All One in 2008 on Woodstock Records and The King James Sessions in 2005 on Blues Planet Records. A re-released version of the song "Last Train Out," which he wrote in memory of the Allman Brothers Band and Gov't Mule bass player Allen Woody, appears on the record. Blues Planet re-released Mecca, an album that Falzarano and the Memphis Pilgrims originally released in 1996 on Relix Records with guests Jorma Kaukonen, Pete Sears, and Harvey Sorgen of Hot Tuna and Danny Louis of Gov't Mule. When not performing with his own band, Falzarano can be seen with Hot Tuna, the Jorma Kaukonen Trio, and the New Riders of the Purple Sage. Falzarano also produces other artists, and teaches guitar workshops at Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch. In 2013, Falzarano's original composition "When There's Two There's Trouble" was featured in Alexandre Moors' critically acclaimed film Blue Caprice with Isaiah Washington, Tim Blake Nelson, and Joey Lauren Adams. Falzarano also appears in the movie. Michael is currently touring with his band, The Englishtown Project, covering Grateful Dead, New Riders of the Purple Sage, and Marshall Tucker Band songs.
