Welcome back to another episode of Film Haven Movie Club!!! This week I sit down with Macy and Emily to discuss our recent vewing of the Josh Safdie film Marty Supreme (2025)We really enjoyed this movie, especially its authenticity and Timothee Chalomet's performance! In the ep, we talk about Marty Supreme's character and whether he learned his lesson or not, and we also discuss the making of the film and the craft behind bringing 1950s NYC to life and how hard it was to film Table Tennis in action!
062 - Marty Supreme, Dir. Josh Safdie Along comes a movie like Marty Supreme. It has all the makings of an Oscar Winner, down to a very unlikeable character played by someone who produced the movie. Timothy Chalamet puts out another unforgettable role as Marty Mauser- a man who will do and say anything to be the best at his game: Table Tennis. He's a man who manipulates any and all situations and is very unlikeable, but is that part of the charm? You tell us. 0:00:00 - Introductions and Banter 0:06:30 - Box Office 0:09:15 - Trailer - Odyssee (2026) 0:28:00 - Movie Recommendation- Dune Part Two, Dir Denis Villeneuve 0:34:30 - Timothy Chalamet- How good is he really? 0:47:30 - Marty Supreme, Dir. Send us a textSteve Claflin's life in racket sports is one of resilience, reinvention, and passion. A former nationally-ranked table tennis champion and Port Huron Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Steve's competitive career was nearly ended by a devastating knee injury and infection in 2002. After years of rehabilitation, he found his way back to the game in 2010 through hardbat ping pong, a slower, strategy-driven version of table tennis that relies less on explosive movement and more on stamina and tactics. What began as a chance substitution at the U.S. Open turned into a second career. In 2022, Steve founded and became Chair of the International Classic Table Tennis Federation (ICTTF), which now organizes world events across Mexico, China, and Brazil. At the 2024 World Cup in Mexico City, he earned a silver medal in the Over 55 Championship. Today, Steve continues to champion ping pong globally, proving that active aging means adapting, competing, and thriving.

From Brooklyn gangs to competing in North Korea, table tennis saved Wally Geen's life and turned him into a messenger of peace.Nobody in the West really cares about table tennis, which is why Wally Green isn't a household name.I mention the West because, as we all know, Asians not only love the sport but are masters of it. The Chinese, for example, are on another level entirely. Have you seen them play? It's incredible.Anyway, back to Wally. His story is not about winning competitions, but about winning at life.To be clear, Wally represented the United States in over 35 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) pro tours around the world, but he has never won a major competition. However, what makes his journey inspirational is how he overcame an abusive father, gangs, and hiding guns, to direct his anger towards competitive sports and create hilarious memories around the world. After all, how often do Black people play table tennis in North Korea?

The podcast kicks off with Lino in Paris for the Olympics - and watching Gold Medal Table Tennis. After that, Tyler has a moral dilemma with a broken bed. Then, Lino goes to Lyon for more Olympics fun and 1 Star Reviews. And the podcast wraps up with Bible or Fortune Cookie!
First, Adam is joined by comedian and Emmy-winning writer Greg Fitzsimmons, as they talk about Greg's broken sewage line that happened right before the show, and Adam's recalling a story of his grandmother falling into a sewage pit. Then they discuss some of the Olympics, such as how Women's Gymnastics in the Olympics should be called Girl's Gymnastics, the unnecessary celebrations in Ping Pong, and some possible categories for the Gay Olympics. Finally, they get into their opinions on beets, porn nicknames, house maids, and more. Next, Adam and Greg are joined by former sports reporter Sherry Landry as they discuss the news, including the list of potential casting options to play Britney Spears in a recently announced biopic, a new anti-aging supplement celebrities are taking, and the shocking price increase of Denny's breakfast platter. Finally, Adam is joined by political scientist Dr. Warren Farrell to discuss his new book “Role Mate to Soul Mate: The Seven Secrets to Lifelong Love,” as they get into the prominence of audiobooks over physical books, how the lessons in team sports can be applied in the diplomacy of relationships, better ways to communicate in a coupling, and how there can be less defensiveness in a relationship.
