Peter Aguero isn't just a performer—he's a presence. Known for his emotionally charged, wildly entertaining, and deeply human stories, Peter has become one of the most beloved voices in the storytelling world. A longtime host and GrandSLAM champion with The Moth, Peter's work explores grief, rage, love, redemption, and the quiet moments that define who we are. In this episode, we sit down with Peter to trace the creative arc of his life—from growing up in South Jersey and leaving football behind, to traveling the country with Chicago City Limits, and eventually becoming a core figure in The Moth's rise to cultural prominence. Along the way, we explore why storytelling isn't just communication—it's how we make sense of being human. Peter's story intersects with some of the greats, including his longtime friendship with creative musician and experimental educator Dave Gould, who introduced him at a transformative moment in Iowa City. Together, their work reminds us that story is not just scientific—it's deeply experiential. It's memory. It's identity. It's the way we heal, connect, and lead. We also revisit some of Peter's most memorable performances, including: “You're Not Alone” (The Moth Mainstage, Metropolitan Museum of Art) — a heartbreaking and healing story about Christmas with his mother “The Italian Ice Fight” — a wild, true tale about a summer job that ended with a hammer, a fight, and a lesson in fear Daddy Issues (his one-man show) — a raw, theatrical journey through masculinity, shame, and survival Appearances on Conan and in venues like the Bitter End, Highline Ballroom, and under-the-radar NYC gems like Under St. Mark's In this episode, you'll learn: + How vulnerability builds creative credibility + Why your real voice is more powerful than your polished one + How to structure stories that resonate emotionally—without overproducing + What brands and leaders can learn from live storytelling and audience honesty + How to tell stories that invite recognition, not just applause Whether you're leading a brand, creating a presentation, or trying to inspire others—this episode is a reminder that the most unforgettable stories are the ones that don't try too hard. They just tell the truth.

It’s significant, it’s really big & I’m always adding to that list and people love that. They want to hear the music that they know and they want it to be played to their family and friends but they don’t want to have the recording and the words played along. They want it to be the instrumental version of their favorite song.” “Every couple is different so every single wedding is different. They are never the same at all.” “Romance is that string quartet sound.” “I want to show that love and have that magic happen even for people that I don’t know. We can all be touched by music & have that connection together.” “You are planning a wedding based on your priorities.” “If you want to make sure that when you walk down the aisle that the right piece is playing, that people are going to be paying attention, that you know have played at weddings before, and you want that magic to happen on your wedding day then you hire a professional.” At Kenneth Cooper Films our passion is weaving together compelling stories with timeless and elegant visuals. Moguls, here it is: The last episode of Season 1. And it’s a classic! Back in August, we recorded a live show at the Highline Ballroom in Manhattan. That night, Reggie chopped it up on stage with Dante Ross, Dave Lighty, Mike Lighty, Déja Lighty, and Tiffany Lighty. They talked about Chris' legacy as someone who made sure everyone got fed, and dropped more than a few big names along the way. There was also a lively Q&A where the audience got a chance to ask all of the burning questions about the first season of the show. You can hear all those conversations right here.

Andy Wang started playing guitar just after graduating high school and later joined a punk rock/ska band when he was in college. He started after his father told him, "Why talk about it? Go take a lesson!" Since then, he's learned to play the Hawaiian slack key guitar and has entertained Christie Brinkley, performed at Staten Island Stadium, the Highline Ballroom, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival, where he was able to perform with his musical heroes. In this episode, Andy and I talk about how his guitar playing benefited his career in so many ways. He developed a niche by realizing there weren't many Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar players in New York City. He also learned to take a leap of faith and trust the process -- you'll get better over time. Early in his career, he didn't share his guitar playing because he didn't feel that it benefited his career. Now he's inviting clients to his shows, includes it in his twitter bio and on his page of the firm's website. Andy said, "When you're in the business world, there's always the risk of trying to take yourself too seriously. The fun goes out the window."

Welcome and thank you for downloading episode three. I'm really excited about this one and I worked really hard on it. Recorded on December 30th 2013 at the Highline Ballroom in New York City. This is Andy Borger on drums, Dave Dreiwitz on bass and of course Marco Benevento on piano.
Peter Rauhofer is a Legend. His music has inspired and touched so many people, myself included! I consider myself blessed to have experienced the master at "Work" on many occasions. Limelight, Roxy, Stereo, Highline Ballroom, Roseland Ballroom, Cielo, Water taxi Beach, Santos Party House, District 36, XL and Pacha are some of the many New York nightclubs/venues i've sweated it out on the the dance floor to Peter's beats. I listened, I learned and I am truly greatful to have been inspired by such a great talent over the past 11 years. As for this podcasts, It's a little something i put together back in 2006-2007 as a tribute to Peter, but i chose not to release it out of respect. Now with his passing i am releasing it to honor him and carry on his legacy. This mix leans towards the Stereo/Highline Ballroom WORK party era. It features some of Peter's remixes as well as many of the tracks he was spinning during this time. Though it truely saddens me that he is gone, his spirit will live on for years and years through his amazing music. Those Adidas shoes will never be filled! REST IN PEACE Peter! Now let me see you WORK!
Tom Morrissey is a founding member and lead singer of the New York hard rock band Killcode that was formed in late 2008. They recently appeared alongside former Queensryche singer Geoff Tate at the College Music Journal convention showcase for Skateboard Marketing and appeared in clubs such as Webster Hall, The Bowery Ballroom, Highline Ballroom, Irving Plaza and more. Tom talks about Guns n Roses’s drummer Frank Ferrar filling in for their drummer at a club called the Trash Bar in 2009 and reveals how Killcode made Frank’s acquaintance. The story of Killcode’s first music video- an acoustic version of their song "Breaking Away" which will be included on the DVD release of David Swajeski’s documentary Dressed. In the conversation below we discussed song writing in ways such as seeing a tell tale sign when you have composed a notable lyric or riff and how you are able to distinguish when something has mass appeal for an audience. A few words of appreciation were mentioned for the New York Rock Scene and what some of the difficulties in being a member of it are.

Will You Be Saved From The "Shopocalypse" This Christmas Season? Pacifica Radio offered its listners a bit of "salvation" in the form of a recorded live performance by Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping. The performance took place in New York City on November 4th, 2007 at the Highline Ballroom. Reverend Billy and his choir proselytized against consumerism, which they claim stifles the uniqueness of our lives, and told their audience that they believe that, "if we 'back away from the product' - even a little bit, then we Put The Odd Back In God!" A sermon by Reverend Billy anchors the performance with a critique of "born again" fundamentalist religion, which he claims inevitably leads to violence. He gives homage to our "first births" and encourages his audience to re-connect with their innate questioning nature. This program was produced for Pacifica Radio (www.pacifica.org) by Jon Almeleh and Ursula Ruedenberg. Mixing and editing was done by Jon Almeleh and Bill Wells. Doug George provided technical assistance. For information about Rev. Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping, go to www.revbilly.com.
