Send us a textThis week on the show, Chris Berardo stops by the show to discuss his latest release, Wilder All the Time, touring, and more.********Chris Berardo is another artist whose life hasn't been the easiest. He was on a MAJOR upswing career-wise a decade ago before the dreaded cancer reared its ugly head. He was forced to abandon his music career to take care of himself, but now, after a decade of fighting, he is releasing his first album since... and it's a great one. A consummate and charismatic performer, Berardo's smoky voice and lived-in tales have charmed audiences from intimate acoustic shows to full-blown theater concerts, often opening for some of his idols, including The Doobie Brothers, The Marshall Tucker Band, Dickey Betts & Great Southern, and America.Chris Berardo and The Desberardos have just released their long-awaited fourth album, “Wilder All The Time”. It's a deeply personal record that's easily among the best works of his career! Chris talks about the record, playing live, and his travels from New York to Los Angeles to his current home in Norwalk, Connecticut.Watch this video for his new song "Take Me Back" which features pics and vids from his childhood: https://youtu.be/MDjJXH0ThW8?si=wdw3aYijfmIobIxe. Canciones que cumplen medio siglo. Canciones que cumplen medio siglo. Cuarto capítulo de la serie de disco magistrales publicados en 1975: días de country rock y de rock del sur donde se alían con el blues y el jazz. 613 Part 1 of out chat with Ana Croegaert about the removal of Confederate monuments. We also talked to her about her participation in second line parades around the city. “In 2017, the City of New Orleans removed four segregation-era monuments celebrating the Southern Confederacy and valorizing white supremacist ideology. As in other cities, efforts to remove such monuments are not new, and historically have been connected to collective challenges to racialized inequality, and more recently to transnational postcolonial struggles. Given the longstanding activism in favor of removing such monuments I ask, Why now? In exploring this question, I examine the circulation of images, talk, and text about the monuments in relation to the city's post-2005 political economy and find that people's expressed sentiments regarding the statues illuminate the ongoing challenges faced by New Orleans' multiracial working-class and poor residents. I argue that the city administration's framing of the monuments as emblems of an unequal past decouples the monuments' removal from the urgent need to meaningfully address present inequalities.” “I am a Chicago-based anthropologist working with ethnography, performance, and artmaking to expand awareness of people's creative efforts to deal with the aftermath of harm and to craft hopeful futures. From coffee cultures to public memorials, my work spans kitchen cupboards, urban gardens, and city streets to record how people make meaning in their daily lives.” Now available: Liberty in Louisiana: A Comedy. The Georgia Thunderbolts' ascent to becoming heralded as the next torchbearers of Southern rock was far from glamorous. Not long ago, the band found themselves busking at gas stations, stumbling through covers, and traveling hours to Alabama to perform for a sparse audience of a bartender and a three-legged dog.Fast forward to today, and the Rome, Georgia-based quintet has emerged as a critically acclaimed and globally touring band, defying the sophomore slump with their latest release. Comprising Zach Everett on bass, classical guitar, and harmony vocals; Bristol Perry on drums; Logan Tolbert on guitar; and Riley Couzzourt on guitar, the band's music embodies an earthy and emotive aesthetic that draws from various influences, including late 1960s singer-songwriter intimacy, the blues' yearning, the storytelling of country music, and a hearty dose of arena-ready classic hard rock.Riley shares, "I grew up immersed in music, with my dad's love for 1980s rock and my grandma's affinity for classic country. As soon as TJ starts singing, you can hear the Southern roots in our sound."Despite releasing their debut album, 'Can We Get A Witness,' smack in the middle of a pandemic, the band garnered over 6 million streams across digital platforms and earned critical acclaim from esteemed publications like No Depression, Rolling Stone, Classic Rock, and American Songwriter.Emerging from lockdown, the band wasted no time, sharing stages with rock legends like Black Stone Cherry, Deep Purple, and The Marshall Tucker Band, among others. One of the most transformative experiences for the band was touring Europe with Black Stone Cherry in 2022, where they played historical theaters and witnessed their music resonate with audiences overseas.Reflecting on the journey, TJ remarks, "Playing in Europe was surreal. Hearing fans sing our songs back to us felt like a dream come true. It's a far cry from our early days."The band's growth and evolution over the past few years are evident in their latest album, 'Rise Above It All,' a 13-song collection that marks a new chapter in their career. For more information on The Georgia Thunderbolts, including tour dates and updates on their upcoming album, visit georgiathunderbolts.com.Support the Show. Thanks for listening for more information or to listen to other podcasts or watch YouTube videos click on this link >https://thetroutshow.com/

Making his live debut at Jacksonville's Sgt Pepper's Club in October 1974, Pyle assumed the role of Skynyrd's drummer following the release of Second Helping, contributing to the band's subsequent four albums, including the legendary Street Survivors. Pyle survived the band's tragic 1977 plane crash that took six lives, including Steve and Cassie Gaines, along with the band's leader, Ronnie Van Zant. "This project has been a year in the making, but when the fans hear it they will understand why it took so long," says Len Snow, Get Joe Records president. "Artimus is legendary within the Southern Rock space. The music that Lynyrd Skynyrd made will always live as a part of rock history. He would replace their original drummer (Bob Burns) following the release of the group's second album, Second Helping, and performed with the band and on Skynyrd's subsequent four albums,Nuthin' Fancy, Gimme Back My Bullets, Street Survivors, and their live album, One More for the Road. Pyle was injured but survived the band's 1977 horrific plane crash that abruptly ended the lives of six people, including band members Steve and Cassie Gaines, and most notably, frontman and musical visionary Ronnie Van Zant.In 1979, the band began to reunite, first for the 5th Annual Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam, and eventually, as the Rossington Collins Band (which included all the remaining band members and Pyle, plus Dale Krantz on lead vocals and Barry Lee Harwood on guitar). However, shortly after that, Pyle was in a car accident that broke his leg in 21 places and shattered his hopes of remaining with the group. Pyle spent the next three years healing, both physically and emotionally, before returning to the States and establishing the Artimus Pyle Band (A.P.B.) to honor the music and legacy of Ronnie Van Zant.In 1987, Pyle rejoined his former bandmates to tour and eventually record as Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991, but the experience left him flat. While he deeply loved them, he no longer felt the magic he once did with Van Zant at the helm, nor was he interested in returning to the party lifestyle for which the band was known and stepped away from the group permanently, only to return in 2006 during Lynyrd Skynyrd's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (where he played alongside Bob Burns). Now in his 70s, Pyle still continues to honor Van Zant's musical legacy, recording and touring with the Artimus Pyle Band, now comprised of Pyle (drums), Scott Raines (guitar/vocals), Jerry Lyda (guitar) Brad Durden (keyboards/vocals), and Dave Fowler (bass).https://artimuspyleband.com/https://www.amazon.com/Anthems-Honoring-Music-Lynyrd-Skynyrd/dp/B0CKH9X2WHBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/i-am-refocused-radio--2671113/support.

¡FELIZ ROJIBLANCA NAVIDAD! BROTHERS AND SISTERS: The Allman Brothers Band and the Inside Story of the Album That Defined the 70s (St. Martin's Press) by Alan Paul is a deep dive into the time before and after 1973's Brothers and Sisters. It was not only the band's best-selling album, at over seven million copies sold, but it was also a powerfully influential release, both musically and culturally, one whose influence continues to be profoundly felt. Celebrating the album's 50th anniversary, Brothers and Sisters the book delves into the making of the album, while also presenting a broader cultural history of the era, based on first-person interviews, historical documents and deep research and a trove of never-before-heard interviews conducted by the band's “Tour Mystic,” Kirk West. The five-year period between Duane Allman's 1971 death and the Allman Brothers Band's 1976 breakup was a remarkable run for the group that helped define the era, rock history and American culture and politics. They played a major role in electing President Jimmy Carter; were intimately linked with the Grateful Dead; and inspired the Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the entire Southern Rock genre. Gregg Allman's marriage to the iconic star Cher also put the couple at the vanguard of a newly emerging celebrity media culture. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: ALAN PAUL is the author of the New York Times bestseller One Way Out: The Inside History of the Allman Brothers Band, the definitive book on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band and Texas Flood: the Inside Story of Stevie Ray Vaughan. The latter has been optioned and is being developed for both documentary and feature films. Hisfirst book, Big in China, is about his experiences raising an American family, forming a band and becoming an unlikely rock star in Beijing. He also founded Friends of the Brothers, the premier celebration of the music of the Allman Brothers Band, featuring members of the Dickey Betts, Jaimoe and Gregg Allman bands. He is a regular guest on radio shows and a frequent contributor to The Wall Street Journal, Guitar World, and other publications. He lives in New Jersey. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/steve-richards/support

There's no mistaking Austin band the Ransom Brothers' major musical influence; those slide and twinned guitar riffs, fierce fiddle solos and bluesy, soul-infused melodies pay proud homage to the Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker Band and other '70s Southern rockers, though the band also pledges allegiance to red dirt, outlaw and outlier country, jam bands. But it's definitely their own musical chops and songwriting skills on display in each track of their debut album, Resurgence.“Our goal has always been to be ourselves and write and play what inspires us,” says lead singer and guitarist Sean McHargue, who formed the band with fellow Texas State University graduate Daniel “Sal” Solis (guitars, mandolin). They were a duo when they came up with the name, inspired by Jimmy Stewart's character in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, but have since added bassist Phil Eckhardt, drummer Aaron English, fiddler John Thomas and keyboardist James Rodman.“We all have our own styles and nobody tells anyone what to do; we just throw shit in the wok and see if it comes out crispy. It usually does,” says Solis. But the blend of past and present on Resurgence is intended to serve as more than the band's calling card: They also hope to reinvigorate some musical corners that have gone little stale.www.TheRansomBrothers.comwww.thetroutshow.comThanks for listening for more information or to listen to other podcasts or watch YouTube videos click on this link >https://thetroutshow.com/
