The Japanese Defense Ministry is transported a missile launcher to their eastern most island in the Pacific, 2000 km SE from the main island. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute released their annual report on Monday, pointing out the nuclear armed countries have 12,000 nuclear weapons and a number of countries are expanding their stockpiles. Russian officials have criticized Britain, France, and Germany for their military support of Ukraine. 3 Indian crew members on a tanker in Hormuz were killed when the US military- the Indian Foreign Ministry condemned the attack. Pete Hegseth gave a speech at Guantanamo Prison, continuing the threats to Cuba. From CUBA- A ship arrived in Cuba with 1700 tons of food and other supplies from Mexico and Belize. Cuba mentioned the US propaganda radio station, Radio Marti, aimed at the Cuban island for 41 years. A Congressional research report said that the US military has lost 42 aircraft, worth $2.6 billion, during the first 40 days of the war on Iran. He says that Trump is under serious pressure from the right-wing of the Republican party, and that the Israeli war on Lebanon has complicated any serious ceasefire. He says that Israel wants to reshape the region into a greater Israel, and completely destroy Hezbollah. They discuss the hidden missiles in Iran and how inaccurate Trump and the Pentagon were when describing the strength of the Iranian military. Colombians voted in the first round of a crucial presidential election. This interview with Renata Segura of the International Crisis Group covers the three candidates who ran in the primary election- on June 21st there will be a runoff between left-wing Senator Ivan Cepeda and right-wing lawyer Alberdo de la Espriella. The wars on Iran and the Middle East are damaging the environment at a time when climate change is negatively impacting weather. UNEP is the United Nations Environment Programme, which attempts to help member states with climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. These are excerpts from an interview with Inger Andersen, the Executive Director of UNEP. From FRANCE- Europe is experiencing extreme heat, setting new high records for May in France, Ireland, the UK and Portugal. Israel is expanding operations with continued bombing in southern Lebanon. From GERMANY- The video that the Israeli National Security Minister, Ben Gvir, posted showing the abuse of those arrested from the aid flotilla headed to Gaza continues to be in the news. Italy called for Gvir to be sanctioned, and several European countries barred him from entry. Sven Kuhn von Burgsdorff is the former EU envoy to Palestine. In this excerpted interview he says the actions shown in the video are typical of how Israeli troops have been treating Palestinians for years. Netanyahu criticized Gvir but Sven says that is all a charade, the two are on the same page. He also points out that Netanyahu is worried that Trump might want to stop the military attacks in Iran which could cause a problem for Bibi in the upcoming election. Sven suggests father reaching sanctions, prosecuting war criminals, and the EU banning arms exports to Israel. Japanese satellite imagery indicates a large oil spill off the coast of Kharg Island, creating a significant ecological disaster. A CNN analysis shows a serious uptick in US military surveillance along the coast of Cuba. From JAPAN- Australia and the EU have concluded talks on a free trade agreement, which will remove almost all tariffs between them. Ukraine announced attacks on key Russian oil facilities, including one 1400 KM from the border- Russia retaliated by attacking the Ukrainian defense industry. The Foreign Ministers of China and Iran spoke by phone on Tuesday, with China recommending negotiations. From FRANCE- It appears that some investors used insider trading information to buy a half a billion dollars of oil stock short on Monday just 15 minutes before Trump posted that the war was winding down, causing the price to drop 14%. The cost of oil has led many countries to further invest in renewables- but the US returned nearly a billion dollars to French company TotalEnergies to drop its plans to build windfarms off the US Eastern Coast. Mexican President Sheinbaum gave her support to the flotillas bringing aid to Cuba, including using a ship to protect them at sea, and says she is working to find a way to get fuel to the country. Israel has been attacking Lebanon, partly in retaliation for Hezbollah attacks since the war on Iran. One thousand Lebanese civilians have been killed and one million are displaced from their homes. Now Israel has escalated the bombing to include Beirut. Fawaz describers the Israeli action as collective punishment, and explains that Hezbollah is not simply a paramilitary group but a political and social movement as well. Also he says that people fleeing war zones in the recent past have ended up immigrating to European countries, where they are not welcome. From FRANCE- 3 press reviews. The first is about the Belgian PM who suggests that Europe should normalize relations from Russia to help secure cheaper energy. Then press reactions to Trump suggesting that allies join the US military in the war on Iran. The Guardian had an article about the UK representative at the US Iran talks in Geneva before the US and Israel attacked Iran- he says Iran had made concessions on UN nuclear inspections at the talks. Cuba lost all electrical power on Monday and Tuesday this week just as Trump bragged that he will take the country over. Christopher Sabatini, a senior fellow for Latin America at Chatham House, explains why the power grid failed and some of the effects which he calls a humanitarian crisis. Christopher talks about Trumps motivations for imposing a regime change, including possible tourism/casino development, not unlike his Gaza Strip plans.
