Prep Sports Weekly for Monday, November 3, 2025. We meet five of the six state-bound Shorewood Stormrays Boys Tennis team members. Coach Arnie Moreno along with players Eli Sheffield, Riley Boyd, Drew Johnson, Zack Binz and Xander Gordon (who was also named our Russell & Hill Athlete of the Month for September 2025). Then talk to three of the playoff-bound Wesco football coaches Ivan McLeannan (who is joined by the winning-touchdown-scoring RB Noah Linde). Also Archie Malloy of the Mountlake Terrace Hawks and Shane Keck of the Glacier Peak Grizzlies.

KRKO Marysville Toyota Player of the Game is Dawson Cobb; the junior wide receiver had 5 catches for 93 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers' 55-21 defeat of the Chargers. Cobb was previously the starting quarterback for Snohomish, but when the decision was made to start freshman quarterback Nate Kendall, Cobb switched to wide receiver and the Panthers have won two straight and are headed to the Wesco Seeding Games.

We begin with our KRKO Russell & Hill Female Student Athlete of the Month for September 2025, Volleyball player Laura Eichert of the Lake Stevens Vikings. She's joined by Lake Stevens head coach Kyle Hoglund and her mom, assistant coach Lynne Eichert. Then it's a trio of head football coaches that all notched wins this past week: Ivan McLeannan of the Kamiak Knights; Scott Darrow of the Monroe Bearcats and Eric Solbakken of the Snohomish Panthers.

Then we review and preview spring sports championships involving our local Wesco teams; first, with Shorewood Stormrays head boys soccer coach Shaun Warner; then with Jackson head baseball coach Joe Fleury along with two-sport athlete Ashton Bergman with his dad, Mark Bergman.

It's a Spring Sports State Championship Weekend Preview Show for Monday, May 19, 2025. We start with the head tennis coach at Snohomish High School, Joel Boyer previews the upcoming boys and girls state tennis tournaments. Then we hear from the head baseball coach at Cedar Park Christian, Matt Stevens previews his team's opening round 1A regional game, to be played at Funko Field at Everett Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Then, it's softball with the head coach at Stanwood, Patrick Ryan previews his squad's opening round 3A tournament match-up in Lacey. Finally, it's the head baseball coach at Lake Stevens, David Benson with a preview of his club's trip to the 4A regionals in Puyallup.

The Snohomish Panther Boys Swim Team leads off with Head Coach Ron Belleza and state champion swimmers Torsten Hokanson, Owen Collins, Connor Colloton and Rysen Tuomisto. It's an all-state championship wrestling on this week's edition of Prep Sports Weekly for Monday, May 5, 2025. We start with two girl state champions, seniors Hannah Baldock (120-Edmonds-Woodway) and Libby Norton (105-Shorewood); along with coaches Tre House (EW) and Derek Norton (SW). Next up, it's sophomore Kylee Wicklund (140-Lake Stevens) and junior Mia Cienega (190-Everett); along with coach Jordain Harrop (E). Segment three was the Ottow family of Snohomish, with wrestler sophomore Malia Ottow and her coaches dad Jordan and mom Stephanie. Stephanie is also the Director of the Washington State Women's Wrestling Association. Finally, it's a pair of three-time state champion boys wrestlers, with senior Connor Aney of Glacier Peak and junior Tre Haines of Arlington; along with coaches Adam Aney, himself a state champion (1993, Monroe) and Jonny Gilbertson of Arlington.

First, we hear from the Mountlake Terrace Girls Track & Field team with Cymmantha Erickson, Sonita Chen, Mifa Tran, Haruna DiPippo, Allison Mervin, Taylor Williams, Brynlee Dubiel and Sierra Swan. We start with the Lake Stevens Vikings boys swim and dive team with head coach Brady Dykgraaf and swimmers Coren Coe, Hunter Latham, Sam Lamb, Sebastian Erickson and Camden Blevins-Mohr. Then we hear from the Lynnwood Royals track & field team with head coach Stephanie Tastad and athletes Monet Winfield-Sullers, Jaikin Choy, Kale Solomon, Amanda LaFrance, Miah Morales and Alice Tyler. We conclude with a father/son set of boys soccer coaches with dad Teddy Mitalas from the Shorecrest Scots and son Chris Mitalas from the Mountlake Terrace Hawks; followed by David Jeans, the head baseball coach from De LaSalle High School in Concord, California. His team came to Snohomish County for three baseball games last weekend at Funko Field against Jackson, Archbishop Murphy and Eastside Catholic.

Then it's the 1B boys 4th place team, the Tulalip Heritage Hawks, with head coach Shawn Sanchey and players Davien Parks, Davis Bachand and Amare Hatch. And finally the 3A boys 2nd place team the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors with head coach Tyler Geving and players Cameron Hiatt, DJ Karl and William Alseth.

Gonzaga Prep defeated Glacier Peak 62-50 and advanced to the state championship game. Glacier Peak finished in third place for the second straight year.

KRKO Marysville Toyota Player of the Game was Cameron Hiatt, he scored 37 points to lead the Warriors to a 66-56 overtime victory. Edmonds-Woodway advances to the quarterfinal round of the state tournament at the Tacoma Dome next week.

Live from Glacier Peak High School with Tom Lafferty and former Arlington boys head coach Nick Brown on the call. KRKO Marysville Toyota Player of the Game was senior guard Jo Lee of the Grizzlies. He had 22 points to lead the Grizzlies to the 60-30 win over the Falcons. Glacier Peak will now play Mount Si for the District Championship Game on Saturday at Snohomish High School.

KRKO Marysville Toyota Player of the Game was junior forward Caleb Greenland of Lakewood. He scored 30 points to lead the Cougars to an 80-42 district tournament win.

KRKO Marysville Toyota Player of the Game is Arlington senior guard Kaid Hunter. He scored 14 points as the Eagles defeated the Seahawks 69-61. Kaid was also Player of the Game during football season. Retired Arlington Coach Nick Brown was also honored prior to the game.
