The 2A training community is one of diverse backgrouns, both from the trainers, as well as the students that attend their courses. As we've intermixed social media and influencers to that equation, the whole ecosystem that orbits firearms training, has only gotten more confusing. As we see more and more training companies in the community pop up, with AI created ads, and exciting social media content, I'm finding that there's less and less accountability amongs both students, and the trainers. For years we point the finger at students not spending enough, not taking enough courses, as if that was the biggest issue faced in the industry. Today though, we see borderline deceptive resumes from instructors, and deliberately vague backgrouns, making it difficult for consumers to understand who they're learning from, and why they should listen. Here's my observations on these developments over the last several years, and why I think we as consumers need to take greater accountability.Visit our sponsors! Our Patreon - www.patreon.com/prepared_mindset_podCustom Night Vision - www.customnightvision.comUS Duty Gear - https://usdutygear.com/ code 'PreparedMindset'RMA Armor - www.rmadefense.com code 'preparedmindset5'

Riding Shotgun With Charlie #257 John & JJ Occhipinti North Jersey Friends of the NRA   It takes all kinds of people with all kinds of skills to make things happen. Running the second largest Friends of the NRA dinner in the country isn't easy, but John & JJ Occhipinti make it look like it is.    This year the North Jersey Friends of the NRA dinner is on October 7, 2026 at The Grove in Cedar Grove, N.J. There's a link below for tickets. I'm sure it's going to sell out.    John has run a successful landscaping business and is currently retired. His son, JJ, is in the financial services business. In 2023, they joined with the North Jersey Friends of the NRA planning committee. After the man who was running the event had to leave, it was up to them. The first year, they had 520, the second was 535. The goal for this year is 600! This father and son dynamic duo ran the second largest FNRA dinner at only their second time of running this event. This year, on the 250th anniversary of the United States, they want to raise $250,000 for the foundation.    The FNRA has had confusing issues. John Petrolino has covered it very well at Bearing Arms. But rest assured even with the Foundation changing its name, the money raised by the Occhipintis is going to the National Rifle Association and half of it is going to programs in the Garden State, which will focus on youth shooting.    I recently got to catch up with John & JJ at the Gun For Hire range in Woodland Park N.J. Both of these men are regulars there, setting up tables to get people to learn about the dinner. They shoot and train there regularly, too. Of course, Anthony Colando, the owner has been in the stagecoach with episodes #003 & #025.    John learned to shoot with his father with a shotgun his grandfather brought over from Italy to Ellis Island. JJ has the gun now. It's over 110 years old. Guns really are family heirlooms. Try that now! He went pheasant and rabbit hunting with his dad. John took JJ shooting and hunting by the time he was 10 years old. Of course, they didn't find a single pheasant.    As time went on, John got into pistols and reloading. JJ got into it in his late teens. What I absolutely love is that they have lives and careers outside of firearms. But their love of the Second Amendment and shooting keeps them involved in the community. Not everyone has to be an instructor, competitor, or have a YouTube channel. They're using the talents they have to help promote and raise money for the cause.    The first year, there were lots of 2A dignitaries from New Jersey. The second year, they had NRA EVP Doug Hamlin. This year the big person is going to be NRA President Bill Bachenberg. With the help from Colandro and the Gun For Hire radio show, they've done well to "bust cookies" of other gun stores, ranges, and local businesses to get them to donate. This is what it is all about, donating so that people can support the NRA and help the state and where they'd like the funds to go.    Both John & JJ will say that they didn't know what they were doing when they started. But they're smart and successful businessmen. They know how to market. They know how to talk shop to businesses. And they love shooting. Their friends and family will say that after the dinner, they go into hibernation for a couple months to recuperate. But when January rolls around, they're back at it. Looking for sponsors and donations. Of course, they get support from family for this while they're packing gift bags.    This is going to be a huge event! There will be items for women, kids, and possibly, a hunting dog valued at $10,000! There will be something for everyone. For sure, you won't leave hungry.  If you're in or near north New Jersey, New York City area, eastern Pennsylvania, even lower Connecticut, maybe Massachusetts, you need to attend and help them hit their goal. Yes, I'll be there, too!   Favorite quotes: "We want to show the country that New Jersey is to be reckoned with." "I said 'we've got that covered already'." "We didn't know how to run a fundraiser. We just shot from the hip." "Our goal, while lofty, is achievable. I want to bring in $250,000." Ben and Eric shared their experiences co-teaching pistol performance classes, how they balance speed and accuracy, the value of dry firing, and why ongoing education from other instructors is crucial for personal and professional growth. We dove into everything from handling failure, identifying the most overrated gadgets in the gun world, to the role of ego in the firearms industry. Hosts Jason Bassler and Matt Agorist welcomed back grassroots activist, author, and cultural builder Maj Toure for his sixth appearance on the Free Thought Project podcast. Maj is the founder of Black Guns Matter, the Solutionary Center in Philadelphia, and the online education platform Solutionary University. For over a decade, he has been an uncompromising defender of self-ownership, urban firearm rights education, and civic accountability. Maj's work focuses heavily on teaching practical conflict resolution, de-escalation, and helping peaceful individuals break free from the mental and economic traps designed by the state. The conversation dives deep into the shifting political landscape, analyzing the hyper-partisan gridlock of modern politics and the deep-seated cognitive dissonance that keeps voters trapped in establishment cults. The discussion unpacks the landmark unanimous Supreme Court ruling in United States v. Hemani—which declared that the federal government cannot strip individuals of their Second Amendment rights solely over cannabis use—and exposes the hypocrisy of an administration that aggressively pursued the case while masquerading behind a pro-2A facade. Crucially, the dialogue details a powerful wave of organic, multi-regional resistance against the encroaching surveillance state, highlighting decentralized campaigns like "Operation Flock Out" and "Knock the Flock" as citizens actively push back against FLOCK license plate cameras, Palantir data grids, and centralized tracking infrastructure.    The dialogue then pivots to the cultural dynamics of the digital age, examining how toxic online rage-baiting from political provocateurs is engineered to trigger emotional physical retaliation, ultimately weaponizing narrative control to drive disenfranchised youth straight toward authoritarian socialism. The conversation also highlights the severe state overreach surrounding the case of Dexter Taylor, a nonviolent man sentenced to a decade in a maximum-security prison for manufacturing 3D-printed firearms in his own home.   Ending on a powerful "White Pill" note, the episode highlights the necessity of shifting human energy away from systemic distractions and focusing entirely on personal development and local resilience. The final portion of the show underscores the vital role of holistic, decentralizing tools like Solutionary University—including foundational courses on family gun safety, civics, understanding imminent threats, and rights education—to build stronger, self-reliant individuals. The episode concludes with an empowering call to action: to reject state-sponsored demoralization, embrace analog presence, improve physical health, and use local body politics to actively secure liberty as an unalienable birthright. OA1275 - As June ends and another Supreme Court Season wraps, it is time to look back and survey the damage: significant blows to voting and trans rights, harder times for immigrants throughout the system, and a vast expansion of executive powers. But we also go beyond the headlines to see what has been going on with some of the Court's more routine business. What can we learn from their more mundane 9-0 decisions--and can we actually find some good news here among the wreckage? Matt does his best. Finally, in today's seasonal footnote: why the world believed for exactly five minutes that Samuel Alito had closed Supreme Court Season by announcing his retirement on Tuesday, and what we can learn from this weird mistake about how mainstream media covers the Supreme Court.
