This week on Missing the Point, Dave Clarke and Bob Kelly deliver a full, detailed breakdown of the NFL landscape as Week 14 of the 2025 season begins. This is one of the most in-depth power-ranking episodes of the year, packed with analysis of team performance, quarterback play, coaching decisions, playoff odds, and the shifting tiers across the AFC and NFC. Dave and Bobby open with the NFL Coaching Hot Seat Rankings, a list shaped by performance, roster construction, and midseason collapses. Pete Carroll leads the list after another stagnant week from the Raiders. Jonathan Gannon remains under pressure in Arizona. Raheem Morris faces major questions in Atlanta after another disappointing loss. Kevin Stefanski’s offense continues to underperform in Cleveland. Zac Taylor rounds out the five as Cincinnati searches for stability with Burrow returning. They also break down honorable mentions including Mike McDaniel, Mike Tomlin, and Jim Harbaugh and what each needs to do to stay off the list. The show moves into the official MTP Cross-Off List, covering teams already eliminated from serious playoff discussion: Jets, Titans, Saints, Dolphins, Browns, Raiders, Cardinals, Giants, and Commanders. Dave and Bobby explain why each team reached this point, focusing on quarterback regression, defensive breakdowns, coaching issues, and roster health. They follow with possible Week 14 cross-offs such as the Falcons, Vikings, Bengals, Steelers, and Chiefs, with a segment on how late-season collapses start and what trends signal a team is finished. Dave and Bobby then break down the biggest stories of Week 13 and how they reshape the league entering Week 14. They evaluate every major contender: • Why the Patriots continue to look like the best team in football, powered by Drake Maye, Mike Vrabel’s discipline, and a top-five defense• How the Bears have become one of the NFC’s most complete teams with wins over the Eagles and a rising defense• A look at why the Broncos keep winning tight games and whether they’re built for playoff football• The Rams’ surprising loss to Carolina and what it means for the NFC West• Why the Bills’ dominant win over Pittsburgh shows they’re hitting their stride at the right time• The Seahawks’ rebound after blowing out Minnesota• The Lions sliding in and out of top-seven status after a loss to the Packers• The Jaguars returning to form behind strong run game and defense• The Colts missing a huge opportunity against Houston and how that affects playoff seeding• How the Panthers have quietly re-entered the playoff discussion in the NFC They close with the full BK Top Ten Power Rankings heading into Week 14: Patriots (10-2) Bears (9-3) Broncos (10-2) Rams (9-3) 49ers (9-4) Bills (8-4) Lions (7-5) Seahawks (9-3) Jaguars (8-4) Cowboys (6-5-1) / Packers (8-3-1) / Eagles (8-4) / Colts (8-4) Dave and Bobby finish with predictions for Week 14, discussion on playoff tiebreakers, and which teams control their path. They also revisit the Patriots, Eagles, Cowboys, Broncos, Steelers, Chiefs, Lions, and Bears and lay out what each must fix before December ends. THE FARR SIDE. Could we see Giannis Antetokounmpo in a different uniform? There are reports that Giannis wants the option to seek a trade. If you were a GM of the Lakers would you trade majority of your assets to acquire him? D'Marco does not like the story of Panthers game being a trap game. He elaborates on why that was not a trap game. The Rams will look to bounce against the AZ Cardinals this weekend and get back into the winning column. TIP OR NO TIP. Host Ryan Schlipp nerds out on team variability, opponent adjustments, and why wins aren't everything in evaluating true quality. Tease the controversy: Are the Bears a legit threat or just riding luck? Exploring game-to-game variability and why no team is consistent, using the Panthers' wild DVOA swings as a prime example. Breaking down key metrics: Packers rank top-5 in DVOA and EPA, while Bears hover around 19th-21st, closer to a 6-win team. Debunking record-based hype with Vegas spreads, success rates, and predictive models that favor Green Bay by 6.5 points. Discussing the flaws and strengths of stats, plus why "any given Sunday" doesn't invalidate data-driven analysis. This episode is brought to you by PrizePicks! The New RealityThe events of the last 48 hours have rewritten the script for the 2025 Carolina Panthers. They are Contenders: A 31-28 win over the Rams proves they can beat playoff-caliber teams. They have a Quarterback: Bryce Young's historic efficiency and clutch play have silenced critics for the moment. They have a Defense: The unit creates turnovers even without its stars. They have a Path: The NFC South title is winnable if they handle business against Tampa Bay.As the team disperses for the bye week, the message from Dave Canales is clear: the preseason narrative is dead. The new story is about a team peaking at the right time, with a legitimate shot to host a playoff game in January. For a franchise that was left for dead in November, that is the ultimate news headline.
The Carolina Panthers just shocked the NFL, and Gerrell Wheeler is here to break it all down after a massive 31–28 win over the 9–2 Los Angeles Rams. In one of the most complete performances of the season, the Panthers delivered on both sides of the ball—Bryce Young tossed three touchdowns, the run game found balance with Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle combining for strong production, Jalen Coker had his best game of the year, and the defense came up huge with a Mike Jackson pick-six and key turnovers from Derrick Brown and Nick Scott. Gerrell talks energy, execution, and why this felt like the team Carolina believed they could be back in Week 1.Now sitting at 7–6 heading into the bye, Gerrell asks the big question: Who are the Panthers really? One week they're unstoppable, the next week inconsistent—but with the NFC South wide open and four games left (Saints, Bucs, Seahawks, Bucs), a playoff push is absolutely on the table. Gerrell lays out the path, the mindset, and why maintaining offensive balance is the key to finishing strong. If Carolina keeps this momentum, we may just be talking about a 10-win season and a postseason return no one expected. It's up for the city—believe that.
Did you lose faith in the Rams after loss to the Panthers? Are the Broncos a legit playoff contender? Did Lane Kiffin make himself look weak after confronting Ole Miss reporter? Should Texas make the playoffs? Do they make a case to have 24 playoff teams? PLUS, Junkie of the Day with Jeremy and Joe!
