Bryce Young is entering Year 4 with his ceiling still officially "unknown" — and both Dave Canales and Brandt Tillis made that clear in back-to-back pressers at training camp. Canales broke down exactly why Bryce is playing faster this camp: eliminating reads before the snap, throwing with real anticipation, and building the kind of chemistry with Tommy Tremble that's produced explosive plays on vertical concepts multiple practices in a row. Then Tillis stepped up and doubled down — "he ascended last year, and there's still room for him to ascend" — while shutting down any real details on where extension talks stand, saying those conversations stay internal between the organization and Bryce's camp. That wasn't the only storyline from camp. Canales gave the clearest injury update yet, confirming Mitchell Evans, Tommy Tremble, Bobby Brown, and Robert Hunt are all back on the field, and laid out the plan for Thursday's preseason opener — no starters, including Monroe Freeling, with Kenny Pickett getting the start. Tillis also opened up about how analytics shape roster construction, why Carolina's roster skews so young, and where things stand with Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson heading into contract-relevant seasons.Rounding it out, Princely Umanmielen delivered one of the most personal interviews of camp — crediting a renewed faith and full lifestyle overhaul for his growth, explaining why he's logged off social media until he makes a Pro Bowl, and sharing how he comforted Nic Scourton in the moment his teammate went down with a season-ending injury. We're covering every angle of Panthers training camp all summer — practice reports, injury tracking, roster battles, and the road to Thursday's opener. Panthers News Roundup: Mayfield Reunion Buzz, Clowney to Houston, Ertz Rumors

Two Growls One Roar: A Carolina Panthers Podcast

Two Growls One Roar is back with a full Carolina Panthers news roundup as training camp rolls on! We're breaking down the biggest storylines swirling around the team right now — from a wild "what if" scenario involving a former Panthers quarterback, to roster moves both in and out of Charlotte.First up: Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox dropped a take that has Panthers fans buzzing — could Baker Mayfield actually make his way back to Carolina? Mayfield is in the final year of his deal in Tampa Bay and has reportedly been open about feeling disrespected after extension talks stalled out. Knox floats the idea that if Bryce Young regresses in 2026, the Panthers could revisit a reunion with Mayfield, especially given his prior relationship with head coach Dave Canales, who was Mayfield's offensive coordinator back in 2023. Of course, Mayfield's first stint in Carolina back in 2022 didn't exactly go according to plan — he started just six games and was released before the season ended. We break down whether this reunion actually makes sense or if it's just outside noise.Next, we cover Jadeveon Clowney's move back to Houston. The Rock Hill, South Carolina native and former No. 1 overall pick has agreed to terms with the Texans, the franchise that drafted him back in 2014. Clowney spent the 2024 season with the Panthers, tying for the team lead in sacks, before landing in Dallas last year. We look back at his time in Carolina and what this move means for his career. We also dig into a potential free agency fit that has Panthers fans excited — tight end Zach Ertz. NFL.com named Carolina as the top landing spot for the veteran pass catcher, and it's easy to see why. The Panthers haven't had a 50-catch tight end since Greg Olsen back in 2019, and Ertz posted exactly that many catches for Washington last season. Could he be the trusted veteran target Bryce Young needs heading into a pivotal year?On the roster front, we cover linebacker Jared Bartlett signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars just a week after being waived by Carolina. We go over his college career and what led to the move. And we close things out with a look at Xavier Legette's personal Sports Illustrated feature, where he returned to his hometown of Mullins, South Carolina, for a horseback and ATV ride with quarterback Bryce Young — opening up about losing his parents and his goal of remodeling his family's home.As always, we bring you Panthers news with real analysis and real perspective — no fluff, just growls. Welcome back to Talk My Credo Podcast EP217!This week, the crew tackles a difficult but necessary question:What is the difference between Black culture and “ghetto” culture—and have we made the mistake of treating them as the same thing? The conversation begins with each member defining what the word “ghetto” means to them before examining the traditions, values, creativity, history, and shared experiences that make up Black culture. Are destructive behaviors sometimes defended simply because they exist within parts of the Black community? Does criticizing those behaviors unfairly attack Black people—or can honest criticism help protect and strengthen the culture? The crew debates whether struggle has become confused with identity, whether stereotypes are being reinforced from within and outside the community, and how we can separate authentic Black culture from behaviors that should not define an entire people. After the main discussion, the crew returns with The Shenanigan Report, covering the LeBron James-to-Philadelphia conversation, a heated Panthers versus Cowboys debate, Donald Trump's latest antics, a review of Kevin Hart's 72 Hours, Dee's new tattoo, and plenty of classic Talk My Credo foolishness. In this episode:✊ Black culture versus “ghetto” culture

The Chiefs got on the field 11 on 11 and all systems are go for the team, and more importantly, Patrick Mahomes.  The NFL's most decorated quarterback was a full go and that has everyone optimistic.      Andy Reid loves his new runningback and off the field he reports that Mia Bienemy is out of ICU.  Team President Mark Donovan discussed the process of securing a Super Bowl at the new Arrowhead and we are one week away from the first NFL preseason game... ugh... the Cardinals and Panthers.    The Royals won a clean game 4-0 that had a bunch of really unusual things in it including Salvy hitting a triple.    Anthony Fauci had one really horrible day Wednesday getting grilled by Senators and used his fifth amendment rights 111 times to not answer any questions.    A new poll shows just how much men hate the democrat party.    Kansas candidate for governor Philip Sarnecki is getting me and Jessica's votes in the primary Tuesday.... we'll talk with him about his plan to audit the state and sell the governor's $9 million airplane.  I really like what I hear and he clearly has run the best campaign.  That matters to me.

The guys discuss whether today's players are too cautious with injuries compared to Joe's era, when players would do whatever it took to get on the field, and debate which approach is better for teams and careers. They also examine the possibility of the NFL adding another regular season game and what that would mean for player health. The conversation takes a lighter turn as Joe defends the Savannah Bananas after criticism from Michael Wilbon, while Omar sparks a debate by claiming golf isn't a sport. Plus, the guys discuss Brandon Aiyuk's situation, the mental health challenges facing the NFL, South Florida's incredible football talent, the explosion of money in college football, players navigating contract disputes without holding out, Christian Wilkins' sudden decline, and Sergei Bobrovsky's split with the Panthers

Brick Lombardi pulls a late-night chair up to the board and lets four songs do the talking. No filler, no rush — just the kind of set where the music reaches back and right now at the same time, and everything lands different depending on where you've been. - **Sun Still Shines** — A soul-soaked meditation on the 16-13 Monday night loss to the Panthers. The song isn't about the field goal; it's about the Packer fan who sat with that loss long enough to find some perspective, and came back around. That's the harder thing. - **Is This Love** — Built as a love song, aimed at a quarterback. Jordan Love, Year 4 starter, seven years in the league, and Green Bay has spent every one of them asking the same question. The song asks it too — except every time it says the word, it's saying both things at once. - **C.C.** — An unapologetic hype track for rookie corner Brandon C.C., 52nd overall, second round, South Carolina by way of NC State. Kid out of Sumter. 41-inch vertical. 20 years old. The board said 33 — Gutekunst got him at 52. That's not a reach, that's robbery. - **Before the Pads Go On** — A quiet one. A fan in the parking lot at six in the morning, reading the injury list out loud like a box score: Banks, Hargrave, Haddon, Brooks. Then his kid holds out a bike, a player nobody drove up to see takes it, says thanks — and the man quits counting. Catch Brick Lombardi on Tundra FM every night on the Packernet Podcast Network. The dead season is officially over — training camp has arrived, and Ryan's back with plenty to unpack. He breaks down the Packers' reported $1.1 million operating loss and explains why the real story ($132.5 million in net income, up 54.8%) tells a very different picture than the sky-is-falling narrative being pushed by Florio and others. Ryan contextualizes the expense spike with the Micah Parsons signing and the Kenny Clark write-off, pushes back on Ed Policy's repeated alarm-ringing, and comes away cautiously optimistic about the franchise's financial path forward. - Packers' operating loss vs. net income: $753M revenue, $754.1M in people expenses, but $132.5M net income once investment gains and the NFL/ESPN media deal are factored in - Why the Micah Parsons signing ($44M bonus, $136M guaranteed) and Kenny Clark's accelerated cap charge drove the 18.7% expense spike — a one-time hit, not a trend - Ed Policy's repeated financial warnings: strategic pressure on the NFL or genuine alarm? Ryan argues it's the former, and Policy's refusal to sell Lambeau naming rights backs that up - NFL Owners Meeting recap: Bob Harlan's name goes on the northeast facade at halftime of the Oct. 29 Panthers game; LaFleur, Gutekunst, and Russ Ball extensions confirmed - PUP list breakdown: Tucker Kraft, Aaron Banks, Kamal Haddon, Javan Hargrave, Luke Musgrave placed on PUP; RB Chris Brooks on NFI; plus a full rundown of PUP rules and the new 2026 reserve PUP practice window - Breaking non-Packers news: Eric Bieniemy's wife Mia shot at their Virginia home by the couple's son; Ryan covers the story with appropriate gravity We're back, baby. Daily DLP: EDGE Preview, Plus Lions Add Another LB - Detroit Lions Podcast

    The Detroit Lions Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 28, 2026 23:26

The Daily DLP offers up the final pre-camp position preview for the Detroit Lions. Today hits the EDGE group, which has a superstar at the top, followed by some newcomers with higher-end potential than what Detroit has seen in recent years. Before the EDGEs, the Lions did add another player to the den. The Lions signed veteran linebacker Troy Reeder on Monday. Reeder has spent his entire 7-year NFL career with the Los Angeles Rams. He's thrived on the Rams' special teams units, playing on all types of special teams. Defensively, Reeder does have some starting experience. He offers the same kind of straight-line athleticism and attacking style that the Lions have in players like Trevor Nowaske and Damone Clark. Rams fans were openly hostile towards Reeder in coverage and in getting fooled on play action, so expectations for the new Lions LB are probably best kept in check. The EDGEs Aidan Hutchinson headlines a group that made quite a few changes this offseason. Hutch is a threat to lead the NFL in sacks after topping all players in QB pressures a year ago. He's an alpha dog capable of first-team All-Pro status. Beyond Hutchinson, DJ Wonnum and Derrick Moore each bring some power, length and durability to the EDGE room. Wonnum is known for his run defense and ability to crush the can from his days with the Panthers. Moore, Detroit's second-round pick, plays better in space than Wonnum and bends the corner well. This year's wild card is Payton Turner. The former Saints first-rounder is the new Marcus Davenport. If he's healthy, Turner's length, strength and athleticism demand respect. He's fully capable of being a starter opposite Hutchinson, and ahead of Wonnum and Moore. Alas, Turner has--like Davenport--been far more known for his injuries than his production in the NFL. Players like Ahmed Hassanein, Anthony Lucas and Eric O'Neill are all competing to raise their profiles and rosters statuses, too. Hassanein's energy and desire to grow his game are fun to watch develop in Detroit. #detroitlions #lions #detroitlionspodcast #aidanhutchinson #peytonturner #djwonnum #derrickmoore #troyreeder #lionstrainingcamp #edge #ahmedhassanein #paytonturner Learn more about your ad choices.
