Send us a textPat Davies enjoyed participating in a variety of sports in his youth, including Little League and swimming. As an adult, he found new outlets for his competitive spirit, spending a decade in karate, moving into marathons and ultrarunning, hiking, and even competing in the unique “ride and tie” races that combine running with endurance horseback riding. He has completed over 100 hikes to the top of Lone Peak, over 11,000 feet up in the Wasatch front in Northern Utah. Now 68, Pat embraced gravel biking a year ago, and this summer, he completed a 4,000-mile solo ride across the United States from Anacortes, Washington to Maine. While members of his family would sometimes meet him at stops along the way, he braved storms, equipment breakdowns, headwinds, and long lonely roads, averaging 76 miles a day and chronicling the journey through daily YouTube videos. Pat lives in Sandy, Utah with his wife and four children and continues to prove that adventure doesn't have an age limit.

There are hundreds of protests planned in cities across the country as counter-programming to this parade. They're organized under the umbrella of the "No Kings" theme. Today I am speaking with the staff of a resort in northern Washington State about Workamping opportunities near North Cascades National Park. Anthony Katsonis owns Silverline Lakeside Resort near Winthrop, Wash., and Mary Schardein is the manager this summer. The 83-site campground also features an apartment, several rental trailers and a glamping tent. The campground is looking for Workampers, especially a couple, to work immediately through October. Typically, Silverline Resort hires six Workampers a year, and they are cross-trained to do multiple jobs. Workampers hired to do maintenance water the grass every day, handle plumbing and electrical issues, bundle firewood and keep the mowers and golf carts operating. They also serve people who rent the campground's equipment, such as kayaks, jet skis, canoes and powerboats. Housekeepers ensure the rentals are cleaned after someone stays in them, then make sure the restrooms and showerhouse remain clean and tidy. Inside the office, Workampers help with reservations and staffing the camp store. On Saturdays and Sundays, Workampers help serve all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausages in the restaurant. The 40-year-old campground attracts a lot of families, as well as people who love outdoor activities, like boating, fishing and hunting. The jobs usually start in April and continue through October, but Silverline Resort has an immediate opening for a Workamper this summer. All the jobs are paid at a rate of $16.82 per hour, and Workampers are considered W-2 employees. At the end of the season, Workampers who complete their agreement receive a $1 per hour bonus for every hour worked. That can add up to a nice sum. Workampers typically put in 30 to 40 hours per week, per person. Depending upon experience, an RV site may be provided free of charge, otherwise, Workampers would work five to 10 hours per week in exchange for an RV site. The campground is in a remote part of Washington, however, Verizon cell phone service is often available. Workampers have access to internet service, but it may not always accommodate the ability to stream video content. The closest Walmart is one hour away in the city of Omak; however, there are more shopping and entertainment options available two hours away in Wenatchee, Wash. The historic Bavarian-themed city of Leavenworth is a short distance from Wenatchee. Seattle is about four hours away, as is Vancouver, British Columbia. Anacortes and the islands of Puget Sound are about three hours away. But, North Cascades National Park is only an hour away, and Anthony said it is not a really busy park, so there are lots of outdoor things to do there. If you love to fish, have fun on the water, and be outdoors, then this will be a wonderful opportunity for you. Anthony said he's especially looking for team players who like to come up with ideas to increase revenue, cut expenses and improve overall guest experience by making the resort more efficient. This is Mary's final season with Silverline Lakeside Resort, so Anthony will be looking for someone to step into the management position in 2025. He is also open to talking with Workampers who would like to work during the winter helping to keep the apartment available to rent. Bryan Murray was born and raised in Long Beach, California, and met his future wife, Kristine Clawson, while attending Brigham Young University when they went skiing together with their home evening group. Bryan attended medical school at the University of Kentucky then completed an internal medicine residency with the UCSF San Joaquin Valley Program. He worked with a small group practice in Payson, Utah, before moving the family to Anacortes, Washington, where he joined a small internal medicine group and helped start a hospitalist program at Island Hospital in Anacortes. Bryan has served in five bishoprics and as bishop of the Anacortes Ward. He retired from medicine in February 2022 and two short months later he and Kristine began a full-time mission as Area Medical Advisor to the North America Northeast Area. They also filled a mission assignment as support to a Young Single Adult branch in the Hingham, Massachusetts Stake. Bryan currently serves as the ward music chairman and Kristine serves as the Relief Society president in the newly-created Fidalgo Island Ward in Anacortes. Bread Pilot - "Crook," from the 2022 album New To You on Double Double Whammy Bread Pilot began in 2011, when high school students Taylor Hayden (guitar/vocals), Stephen Ibanez Jr. (guitar/vocals), and Evan House (drums) would practice in Hayden's mother's home. In fact, today's Song of the Day is named after Crook Horn Road, where a teenaged Hayden would host basement shows. After graduating, the trio relocated to Seattle, choosing to record their debut album at The Unknown in Anacortes. “We had a bunch of different musicians playing on tracks that made them so much better, adding in this new flair," Hayden told Under the Radar. "The best part of recording is that the process is so fun. That's another strength that all of us have.
