Welcome to my annual 'Best of' podcast. As the  Covid-19 pandemic eases here in Ontario, life is almost back to normal. For those of us who are double-vaxxed, everything is open to us, but many others stubbornly refuse to get the jab, which means the disease retains a foothold in many cities worldwide. And now that clubs and restaurants here are open to 100% capacity, DJs are returning back to work and producers are creating quality grooves.Toronto's Sarah Daye (who now lives in LA) begins this year's set with a sultry lounge groove that's sure to impress. Well, it's been more than a year and COVID-19 is still raging across many global cities, including here in Toronto, Canada, but more and more people are getting the COVID-19 vaccination so soon (fingers crossed!) things will be back to normal and we can resume our normal routines - dining out, hugging family/friends, going to concerts, theatre, sporting events, playing recreation sports etc. I expect this summer will be better than last summer as we slowly reach herd immunity. But until we do, yours truly will continue to provide you with choice new grooves to keep you motivated, upbeat and focused. This set leans heavily on the bossa tip, with productioons from Neal Conway, who does a masterful job with two classics from Dionne Warwick & Chaka Khan, respectively. DJ Jazzy Jeff appears twice, as does SOULe. All in all, these tunes will ease us into summer here in Canada, and keep us optimistic for a return to better days. I praise God for the inspiration. As always, download, stream, share & enjoy! 1. All U Otha DJs - DJ Jazzy Jeff 2. London in the Rain - Variety Lab 3. The List - Moonchild 4. Wake up (Roane Namuh remix) - Tony Ozier 5. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues its steely grip everywhere on the planet, we're left to ponder what was essentially a lost year for many of us. Those of us fortunate to still have a job and earn a paycheck, are left wondering what might have been. Lost dreams, shattered hopes, delayed opportunities combined with severe limitations on our personal freedoms will leave 2020 as the 'year that got away.' Musically, I was not inspired to do much as DJ gigs evaporated, along with house parties and most social gatherings. Our respective social bubbles limited most of us to seeing family members only, and even then from a distance of six feet and wearing a face mask. Still, I remain optimistic this pandemic will be behind us soon and we'll resume our pre-COVID activities like playing sports, vacationing, concerts, dining out, parties and being with friends in large group settings. So hug those dearest to you and give thanks to God that happier days are on the horizon. This 'Best of' set includes many of my favourite songs this year, ranging from creative remixes, soulful house with the usual dose of smooth Brazilian jazzy grooves and soul. As always, stream, share, download. Enjoy! 1. So much time - The Futures (Sunner Soul mix) 2. Water Baby - Tom Misch 3. Save room for us (Casual Connection mix) - Tinashe 4. COVID-19 Lofi/Jazzhop mix

This mix is dedicated to everyone as we battle the greatest threat our generation has ever faced - the coronavirus aka Covid-19. As the virus gains strength and afflicts millions of people worldwide, who would've thought that a few short weeks ago (from a North American perspective) we'd all be living through an actual Hollywood-type horror experience? You know the plot: bad guy/terrorist group/incompetent employee releases a virus that kills or mutates local residents and then deliberately or unintentionally, that same virus is transported abroad where it potentially can wipe out hundreds of millions of people. In the Hollywood version, a brave hero/heroine saves the day, and narrowly averts a global disaster. Collective sigh of relief - please pass the popcorn & chips. But Covid-19 is not a movie. It's real and it's killed thousands of people so far. Here in Toronto, and other Canadian provinces, we've been asked to 'self-isolate' for 14 days if we've recently traveled abroad, and if not, we're encouraged to practice 'social distancing' and avoid crowds to limit the spread of the virus. Some U.S. states and many countries are implementing stricter measures to slow the spread of the coronavirus, including national quarantines, school closures and travel and restaurant restrictions. Many public places including museums, beaches and nightclubs are closed until further notice. The World Health Organization has declared the outbreak a pandemic, and called on "all countries to continue efforts that have been effective in limiting the number of cases and slowing the spread of the virus." I've been doing my part, staying at home as much as possible and remaining positive. And creating music mixes for you to enjoy. Stay strong - we'll get through this and the world will be better afterward. This mix explores the beautiful sounds of lofi music aka jazzhop. Special bonus track included with a funny message for the socially conscious. Perfect grooves to take our minds off the onslaught of news we're getting about Covid-19. We all have a big part to play to ensure this virus is tamed so we can get back to normal. Happy New Year and I trust that 2019 ended favorably and that 2020 is off to a great start for everyone. As is my custom, here's my favourite songs of 2019. You'll find the usual suspects here - nu soul, Brazilian and old school remixes - but a couple new friends have joined them. For the first time, I've included a soca track and a song from a new genre that I'm loving more every day - Lo-Fi - which is a type of short, mainly instrumental groove with influences from jazz & hip-hop. Most Lo-fi songs are down-tempo, perfect for romancin', studying or chillin. Song #1 on this set is a Lo-fi tune so check it out and the rest of the set. As always, stream, download & share. 1.
