Hosted by Annabelle and Alice, Wright Here, Right Now (formerly known as The Wright Talk) is a podcast produced with the intent to entertain and inform. Please give us a 5-star review and send any suggestions for guests and topics to thewrighttalkpodcast@gmail.com.
This episode was recorded on the 18th of January 2021. In it, we are interviewing our Dad's Dad (our Oupa). Sadie has joined us for the interview. You can also hear other family members at times. In August 2021, Oupa died after a long illness with bowel cancer. As a result, we have decided not to edit the contents, and instead remember Oupa as the sometimes polarising figure that he was. In his usual style he recounts his early childhood through to the current times. With Father's Day 2023 three days away we figured it was time to publish it. Please send any comments or suggestions to thewrighttalkpodcast@gmail.com. Thanks! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wright-here-right-now/message

Welcome to the first episode of the podcast formerly known as The Wright Talk. We decided to give the name of the previous podcast to Dr Whitney Wright, a dentist from the USA who has been making episodes about mental health. So now we have Wright Here, Right Now, a light-hearted, child-friendly podcast. We don't know where it's headed, but Episode 1 discusses weird animal names and Alice makes up a story on the spot! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wright-here-right-now/message
Another episode we recorded when we were travelling in Arizona. We spoke to our mum's dad (our Grandpa). Grandpa talks to us about his childhood in Saskatchewan and about studying to be a veterinarian. This is another enjoyable episode. What is the fastest growing sport in the world? (Hint: it is named after a dog). Enjoy! Like us? Then rate us! (Please!) Comments? Suggestions? email thewrightalkpodcast@gmail.com. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wright-here-right-now/message
After a long delay, we recorded an episode when we were travelling in Arizona. We spoke to our mum's mum (our Grandma). From her rural upbringing to her work as a doctor in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, she has lived a very interesting life. We learnt a lot during our recording, and our mum did too. Enjoy! Like us? Then rate us! (Please!) Comments? Suggestions? email thewrightalkpodcast@gmail.com. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wright-here-right-now/message
After a week off, the kids chat today about their passions. Oliver loves history so he explains the significance of Remembrance Day. Annabelle waxes lyrical about Christmas and both kids then get a first aid lesson from their little sister. Enjoy. The kids are keen (desperate?) for guests or topics for the show. Please send any ideas to thewrighttalkpodcast@gmail.com. They can do interviews over the phone if you want to make an appearance. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wright-here-right-now/message
After a few weeks off, Annabelle is interviewed by Cristy in this episode. She talks about her recent Camp Quality experience as well as today's Kiddyhawk mud run. Alice offers her usual insights as well. Disclaimer: at around the 20:30 mark Alice lets out a blood-curdling scream. We can reassure you that she is fine. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wright-here-right-now/message
In this, the second part of our interview with Alex, we discover more about what motivates him and how he has influenced childhood cancer education. (Hint: he has his own Medikids comic!) What is his favourite movie, food and dessert? How would he change the world if he could time travel? After 6 weeks (Dad was a bit slack one week) and 5 guests, we say goodbye to our Childhood Cancer Awareness Month series. Until next year! Email us: thewrighttalkpodcast@gmail.com. We asked him about his favourite sports, movies, foods and his plans for the future. In this episode, we interviewed Luke, Charlotte and Nicholas Forwood. Below is the information provided by their Mum, who was also part of the interview. In 2013, when Nicholas was 2 years old he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Stage IV, High Risk and underwent treatment for the next 18 months at Westmead Children's Hospital. At the start he was given a 50% chance of survival and as treatment progressed his chances of survival decreased, although his cancer was responding to treatment it was not as well as the doctors hoped. Luke and Charlotte really wanted to do something for their little brother and so decided to do a head shave to raise money in his honour, knowing that the money that they raised would not benefit Nicholas but would go towards helping future families and kids. This head shave turned into a passion for raising both funds and awareness about childhood cancer, for all of us! There have been newspaper, TV and website interviews; speeches at charity events, school and a parliamentarian breakfast in Canberra; they have organised and run various smaller fund-raising events; and are honoured to do any promotional videos, photos and letters etc asked by TKCP. They came to their own conclusion that 'awareness leads to funding, which leads to research which leads to a cure'. They started off hoping to raise $500-$1,000, and have since raised well over $130,000 for The Kids Cancer Project and the flow on effect of their raising awareness is immeasurable. Luke and Charlotte were recently presented with Youth Ambassador Awards from TKCP for all the efforts. You will love this episode as much as we loved recording it. As always, send comments and suggestions to thewrighttalkpodcast@gmail.com and please continue to support kids cancer charities, especially The Kids' Cancer Project (www.thekidscancerproject.org.au).
