Los Angeles comedian Alex Caine has been doing stand-up for more than four years and has lived all over the country. He's working on putting his debut comedy album together and learning all about hippos while doing so. Because of course. Sure, they might be putting you to death for murder, but that's FINE because we're going to make you into a SPECIFIC kind of murderer. An assassin! This is a good plan. Now let's cut off a finger and then inexplicably be better at climbing things! Welcome back, True Believers! Did you miss our full episodes? We missed you! And to start this year off right, we decided to go out the gate with a series that was adapted into objectively the best movie: Suicide Squad. Join Max, Alex, and comedian Alex Caine as they jump into an episode full of this amazing stuff: - Alex Caine has a bone to pick with Marvel Movies. But also DC. (But Mostly Marvel). - Max reminisces over the X-Men's Reality TV obsession in the early 2000s. - Alex also has a bone to pick with DC. This one is Flash related. - Wait, isn't this a Suicide Squad episode? What is the actual appeal of the series, anyway? - Wait, Suicide Squad is about wacky villains doing wacky heists? How did the movie get it so, so wrong? - Did we forget the Iron Man sequels are of mixed quality? The boys sure haven't. That's it for this week, folks, but come back next week for another dose of ink and paper insanity! We'll be releasing on tuesdays from now on, so pour your morning (or evening) coffee and get ready! Bleak in Review is once again interrupted by a suspiciously calming podcast entitled White Noise, but that won't stop Kevin from sitting down with comedian Alex Caine (@acaine47) to talk about Boy Scout problems, nanny drama, and why neither Kevin nor Alex should be parents. Plus, Her Majesty herself, The Queen (@Suri_Sameer) returns to the show to dish on the Prince Andrew scandal and contemplate her desired global conquests! In this first installment of Bleak in Review: The Matt-less Episodes, Kevin is joined by guest cohost / Unpops daddy Adam Tod Brown, who tells Kevin all about his strangely harrowing 9/11. Then, comedian Thomas Young returns to the show to chat with the boys about his various car accidents and terrible rideshare experiences that inspired his web series, Midnight Matinee. Plus, sports podcast "giant" Ryan Ryanpak stops by the flex on Adam, predict some horrible sports atrocities, and share some of his weird, barely sports-related segments with the Bleak Boys!

It's the 100th episode of the year! We're on the last leg of this trip and while I would normally throw up a pre-recorded Q+A session I figured it be best to end this stretch with my cross country companion for the week: Alex Caine. In this conversation we talk about test taking, defending Animal Farm, and what it means to be intelligent.
Alex and I catch up on Comedy, Sports, and drinking. Enjoy! Hey, welcome to another podcast where I sit down from time to time with some of my family, friends, and other people I look up to or some people I don’t know. My name’s Rob Banks and welcome to Banks Heist.

MORTAL KOMBAAAAAAATTTT!!!!! *cues music* We're talking about peak-90s here people! This is a movie based on a video game based on an actual realm-defending martial arts tournament that happened in the late-80s. This episode ended up being way more enlightening than I anticipated for being recorded so early after I'd had just woken up. I met Alex shortly after I started stand-up comedy at an open mic he was hosting in what my friend liked to call "the bedroom mic". I don't think I thought much of him but I was not surprised to find out he didn't like me when we initially met. But I like him all the more that he was able to admit that. In this interview we talk about my pretentious first impression, why even I don't like that I talk about gender and race, and why I think it's fine to pick on fellow comics in the room.
Cindy Aravena interviews comedian Alex Caine about competitive Pokémon.
