Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast we have and we promise you, one of the most unique, fascinating, jaw dropping, emotional and sometimes shocking interviews we've ever had on the podcast. Today we are talking to Grammy-winning musician/composer/vocalist/violinist Lili Haydn, whose sophomore album from Opium Moon Night and Day is up for another Grammy next month. She's also a composer, has recorded six solo albums and performed with everyone from Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, Herbie Hancock, Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn, Roger Waters, The Jayhawks, Tom Petty and Parliament/Funkadelic to name just a few. Talking to Lili was frankly, unlike anything we have covered before on any episode. Lili and host Josh Mills talked for a long time which is why this is a two-part episode. There was just too much amazing stuff, we couldn't cut any of it. We talked about her comedian/author/writer mother Lotus Wienstock, a free spirit who not only was engaged to Lenny Bruce but became one of the beloved comedians of her era. She was a trail blazer and influential stand-up comedian and was loved and respected by contemporaries like Richard Pryor, Jay Leno, Bill Maher, Sandra Bernhard and Jerry Seinfeld, She excelled in her own personal and inclusive brand of comedy that was as much a shared audience experience as stand-up could be. She was the impetus behind The Comedy Store founding “The Belly Room,” where only women could perform, in an era when comedy was essentially a men's only club. Lotus also wrote a fantastic book called The Lotus Position, changed her name twice and had her music recorded by Ritchie Havens. And that's just the beginning. Lili's father David Jove is a mythical figure himself. He was known as “King Acid David” in the mid-sixties due to fact that he was one of the first ever to mass-produce L.S.D. A friend of The Rolling Stones, he may or may not have been directly responsible for infamous “Redlands” bust of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Marianne Faithfull and others in 1967. He was also a colleague of Stanley Owsley The Grateful Dead soundman and L.S.D. aficionado, created two early music video shows including New Wave Theater which mixed punk rock, SCTV and SNL alums and was hosted by enigmatic host Peter Ivers whose unsolved murder we discuss on the episode. There is so much to unpack in our conversation with Lili in part one of this episode that it frankly left us a little spent. And oh yeah, Lili did this interview while quarantining at home with her second bout of Covid, a real trooper. All I can say is, buckle up….this is the Rarified Heir Podcast.

Danish starts the festivities by talking about how a woman sitting behind the bench at an NHL game shared an observation she had with an equipment manager. Spoiler: it has nothing to do with hockey - she was giving him a warning about his health. After that, Danish talks about how a former Comedy Store manager needs to capitalize and go on 90 Day Fiance. Sticking witjh 90 Day Fiance, Danish talks about a current castmates baby daddy (you gotta hear this!). O'Neill discusses a UFC fighter, who is apparently intentionally knocking out his sparring partners. He also shares his thoughts on the current season of Cobra Kai. Then, Danish switches gears and gives a MUCH needed update to a recent story: it's about the woman who was on 90 Day Fiance who started selling her farts in jars. Well, it turns out the business turned out to be not so great for her health. After that, there's discussion of an Indiana legend, Roy Boy Cooper from the Badlands! This guy is an original Tiger King type of dude. Hear how some residents of Oakland and San Francisco are trying to deter car thiefs (it's an unorthodox technique). There's some miscellaneous discussion to close the show about how "beautiful" LA has become, the vigilante group - the Guardian Angels, and even a little more Cobra Kai. Helix is offering up to 200 dollars off all mattress orders AND two free pillows for our listeners at Helix Sleep dot com slash dando. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Yello there. And we're back from our Christmas/New Year's break. Happy new year to you and yours. We hope this is a horser of a year for us all and the world at large. O'Neill starts the show talking about why we are recording via Zoom and talks about his recent trip to the great state of Tennessee. Did Paula Deen's restaurant live up to the hype? Listen and find out what the random woman he met thought about Paula Deenie's weenie's (hot dogs!). Danish talks about some interesting fashion he saw on a recent trip. This leads us down a path talking about authentic cowboys vs. people who just dress like cowboys because they're trying to be cool or get the rub off the real 'boys and 'girls out there. O'Neill details the sweet offer John Little recently gave him, and Danish talks about why John used to be called "the candy cane assassin". A recent DISTURBING video featuring Ari Shaffir and two dogs is discussed. If you seek out this video, viewer discretion is advised and keep in mind, NSFW or really anywhere. After that, we talk about someone who used to spend a lot of time at the Comedy Store, "the Great One". We talk about his unique fashion and how he left to become a trucker. There's some brief Cobra Kai discussion, and Danish shares an article he found detailing Marty Cove, the actor who plays Sensei John Kreese's, real life problems from playing the Kreese. Danish talks about a recent encounter he had with Brian Holtzman. There's a brief Holtzman update and talk of how he could be the greatest Craigslist success story of all time. There's also talk about why Holtzman is a fashion plate. There's some talk about Jake Paul saying he may already feel the effects of CTE. Then, we're off to England, where a woman, who used to be a man, has gotten into some trouble for various offenses (none of them are good!). One of them involves an Alsatian, aka, a German Shepherd. Wonder what Nate Diaz has been up to? Well, look no further, because we get into it. Hear how he made a "splash" at the Jake Paul fight. This is some real 209 Whole Foods shiz. We nitpick an article about an incident involving Chael Sonnen fighting some guy in a hotel. After that, it's off to Australia to discuss how one man foiled a 15 year old car thief. O'Neill relates to the tale and tells a story of something he experienced with well known dog lover, Ari Shaffir. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

THE HOTTEST UP & COMING COMIC IN LOS ANGELES TODAYIS A 71 YEAR OLD JEWISH MAN!eL YID, NEW CHARACTER CREATED AND PERFORMED BY NOTEDTV WRITER/PRODUCER AND ACTOR MARC SHEFFLER,IS POISED TO TAKE THE LA COMEDY SCENE BY STORMBelieve it or not, the hottest and fastest rising new comic on the LA ComedyScene today is “el Yid,” a 69 year old Jewish man whose long white beard and blackand white garb would immediately lead anyone to assume that he was a Chasidic Rabbifrom Brooklyn. In actuality, el Yid is a new comedic character conceived and performedby noted TV writer/producer and actor Marc Sheffler.A former comedian and member of the Comedy Store's legendary “Class of1977,” Marc has also been involved with countless television series and specials duringthe course of his long entertainment industry career, including "Sister, Sister," "Harryand the Hendersons," "Who's the Boss," “Sanford & Son,” "Charles in Charge,” “TheHappy Days Reunion Show," "The Best of the Hollywood Palace" and the Warner Bros.cartoon “How Bugs Bunny Won The West,” among many others. The character of el Yid was born in late 2015, after a horrific automobile accidentalmost cost Marc his life. After having been hit by a car while walking down the streetnear his home by an 85-year old man texting on his phone while driving, Marc spentmany months recovering from his broken limbs and shattered spirit. Once finally healed, however, Marc looked in the mirror and realized that not only had he been transformedinto an entirely new person, but he had a brainstorm! He'd also just given birth to anentirely new character. The experience re-ignited his passion to once again performstand-up comedy live, after a 35 year absence from the stage.el Yid has been making LA audiences howl with laughter ever since. He appearsregularly at Robin Hood Pub on Burbank & Woodman in Sherman Oaks on Wed-nesdays, and at Upstairs @ Palermo on Vermont by Franklin on Thursdays. Check out:https://www.facebook.com/elyidthecomedian/About Marc Sheffler:A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Marc Sheffler was given a truly unique gift by hisfather for his 8th birthday: The Three Stooges! The famous slapstick trio performed athis birthday party during a local appearance there in 1957. The Stooges brought Marcon stage with a “Nyuck, Nyuck, Nyuck,” and the infamous phrase “I oughtta moider ya.”Moe Howard dubbed little Marc “The Fourth Stooge.” “It was on that stage, at the age of8, when I first realized it was my destiny to become a comedian,” Marc says today. In 1969, Marc dropped out of college to head off to New York State's CatskillMountains, the center of the stand-up comedy universe at the time. There, he began hisprofessional career, with his first job as the Stage Manager of the 1500-seat nightclub atthe Raleigh Hotel. During his fourteen months there, Marc watched every comedian onthat circuit – one of whom was London Lee, the scion of a wealthy Long Island family.Marc worked for Lee for about a year and a half, at first running errands for him, andeventually writing some of his jokes. Marc even became an onstage part of his actduring more than 200 club dates. One lucky night, Lee told his audience that Marc wasan aspiring stand-up comedian, and without any advance notice, thrust him into thespotlight. Marc performed ten minutes, managing to generate enough laughs to earnhimself a spot onstage with Lee for an upcoming, two week engagement at thelegendary Copacabana nightclub in Manhattan. After striking out on his own in late 1971, Marc walked into his manager's office in NewYork City (Lloyd Greenfield Management, whose clients at the time also includedEngelbert Humperdinck), where he was told a movie audition awaited him. As a result ofthat audition, Sean Cunningham and Wes Craven cast Marc as one of their film's fourleads, “a teenage heroin junkie named Junior Stillo” in the movie “The Last House onthe Left” (1972). The film became Wes Craven's first, and is considered today to be thegranddaddy of the modern day slasher/crime genre. In early1972, Marc's life and careerchanged forever when Roger Ebert published a 4 1⁄2 star review of the film with this leadsentence: "'Last House on the Left' is a tough, bitter little sleeper of a movie that's aboutfour times as good as you'd expect.” Marc made dozens of personal appearancesacross the country to help promote the film, meeting thousands of fans, and basking inthe newfound glow of his first taste of fame. After his initial blast of exposure with “Last House,” Marc shifted gears back to hisoriginal passion: a career in stand-up comedy. He also began to pursue writing andproducing projects for television. In late 1975, he developed a movie-of-the-week ideaalong with award winning commercial director N. Lee Lacy (the man who'd directed theinfamous “Mean Joe Green/Coke” commercial.) In early 1976, Lacy's agents at WilliamMorris sold the pitch to NBC – as a result, Marc moved to LA, arriving in town with awriting credit and William Morris as his talent agency.During his earliest days in LA, Marc spent countless nights at the legendary ComedyStore, watching such legends as Richard Pryor, Paul Mooney, Jimmy Walker, GeorgeMiller, Tim Thomerson, and Steve Bluestein. The William Morris Agency had set him upwith his first Monday night gig at the club just a few weeks after he'd relocated to la-la-land. After his fourth Monday night, he walked up to legendary founder Mitzi Shore'stable, and asked her if he had what it took. She looked up and said, “Okay Marc, call infor spots.” Marc quickly thanked her and got out of her sight, before she had time toconclude she'd just made a huge mistake. Over the course of the next several Mondaynights, Marc honed his material, quickly perfecting his set, generating big laughs, andquickly made a place for himself as an Original Comedy Store Regular. Based on hissuccess, Marc became a lifetime member of the Comedy Store's infamous “Class of'77.” He even got his name inscribed on the Comedy Store's exterior “Wall of Fame,”alongside his peers at the time - Jay Leno, Robin Williams, David Letterman, MarcSummers, and other now well-recognized performers.Segueing into writing and producing for television, Marc's career path next ledhim to participate on such hit TV series as "Sister, Sister," "Harry and the Hendersons,""Who's the Boss," “Sanford and Son,” and "Charles in Charge." He also becameinvolved with numerous TV pilots, made for TV movies, and television specials, including "The Little Shop of Horrors" pilot, "The Happy Days Reunion Show" and "TheBest of the Hollywood Palace" specials. His first real studio gig was at Warner Bros.with Mel Blanc, the voice of the classic Warner Bros. cartoons, as the writer of the TVshort “How Bugs Bunny Won The West” in 1978. During this era, Marc worked closelywith a number of notable Executive Producers, including Norman Lear, (“Sanford andSon,”) George Schlatter (“If She Dies, She Dies,”) Don Mischer (“The People's ChoiceAwards,”) Steven Spielberg (“Harry And The Hendersons,) and Garry Marshall (“TheHappy Days Reunion Special”), among them.In 2002, Marc returned to the horror film genre, and produced David DeFalco'scontroversial movie “Chaos.” In 2006, he co-wrote and produced another horror film,“Girls Gone Dead.” And in 2010, Marc supervised the writing of the first two episodes ofa new TV series called “Oh Telon” - a half-hour situation comedy - at EICTV, in SanAntonio de los Baños, Cuba. The show was greenlit for production, and in fall of thatyear, Marc made television history by becoming the first person ever to ExecutiveProduce a sitcom in Cuba! The Birth of el Yid:From 2011 to 2015, Marc was on the faculty of Loyola Marymount University'sSchool of Film and Television, where he taught classes in Situation Comedy,Screenwriting, and Re-Writing. During his time there, he noticed an interestinginteraction between himself and his students (18 to mid-20's). Realizing he could makehis students laugh at will, he went back to the Comedy Store (after a nearly four decadehiatus) to watch the latest comedians, and to listen to the audiences so he could learnwhat they thought was funny. He'd begun to plot a course back to the stand-up comedystage. After a long Thanksgiving (2015) holiday trip to New York and Boston, Marc and his wife(a social worker), returned to LA exhausted and jet-lagged from the trip. A few morningslater, Marc's wife headed out the door to work. Prior to her leaving, Marc told her hewas going to walk up to Trader Joe's, to pick up a few things. A little after 1:00 PM, ashe started the stroll back home carrying his Trader Joe's grocery bag, Marc was struckfrom behind by a Porsche doing about 40 mph, driven by an 85 year old man who wastalking on a handheld cell phone. The driver, who'd gotten distracted by that call, driftedinto the parking/walking lane, forcefully hitting Marc and hurling him through the air.Marc's injuries were extensive: fractured cervical spine bones, fractured ribs, afractured wrist, a shredded meniscus in his knee, multiple scalp lacerations, headtrauma, a concussion, multiple contusions and abrasions, and oral trauma among them. His doctors told him he was quite lucky to be alive, and had escaped life as a paraplegicby just a few millimeters. Describing his pain as “literally indescribable,” Marc's onlyrelief wasn't from the drugs administered, but from where their effects sent him – hementally “time-tripped” back to 1977, to the Comedy Store, and to his beloved stand-upcomedy days. What replaced his full body agony was the full body pleasure he got from“reliving” those moments when he was on stage at the legendary nightclub, getting biglaughs, all those years ago.Marc spent the next three months in bed, nearly immobile – he didn't drive againfor six months. During his recovery, he received a call from a friend about appearing ona radio talk show dedicated to comedy and comedians, along with two other guests –comic Johnny Beehner, and Budd Friedman's former partner at the Improv, MarkLonow. The show went well. One of its hosts asked Marc if he was thinking aboutmaking a return to the stand-up comedy stage. And on air, Marc said yes.One afternoon shortly thereafter, Marc got out of the shower, and took a longlook in the mirror at his body, hair, and long white beard, all dripping wet. He looked athimself, pointed a finger, and ordered himself “not to go away.” Dashing into hisbedroom, Marc put on a white, buttoned-down dress shirt, a black tie, and a black suit, then placed a wide-brimmed, black Fedora on his head. After brushing out his beardand putting on some wire rimmed glasses, Marc then saw in the mirror an amalgam ofhis maternal grandfather, and the Orthodox Rabbi of his Temple's congregation. What is the name of this new character?” he asked himself. This isn't MarcSheffler. Who is this guy? He shall be el Yid, The Jew!Since then, el Yid has been performing before a wide spectrum of LA audiences, generating big laughs wherever he goes. Two, post-performance experiences – onewith an admitted anti-Semite, and another with an attractive single woman - have beenparticularly encouraging. As Marc explains, “By my metrics, if el Yid can get a lifelonganti-Semite to approach him and say he was going to reevaluate his prejudice, and acute, single woman to admit she felt regret because el Yid was married, clearly this newcharacter seems to be resonating with his audiences! Total strangers are starting tobelieve that el Yid is a real person. Now that I've given birth to this comedic new voice,it's time for el Yid to start making a really big noise!”# # #Media Contact:Dan HararyThe Asbury PR Agency310email@example.com

The show starts out talking a little about the Bushman and a little about an open mic legend named Mickey. Both elusive enigmas who left their mark at the Comedy Store. Danish talks a little about the current season of 90 Day Fiance with some news and notes from that beautiful show. After that, it's a competition we had no idea existed...a camel competition in Dubai. It's for BIG prize money (seriously). Get a camel. It's the hot, new investment. Hear all about the seedy underbelly of the camel pageant world. Then, it's back to 90 Day Fiance. Apparently, a former cast member is selling her farts in jars online for big money. What a go-getter! We also talk about how John Little NEEDS to get on 90 Day Fiance. It's a no-brainer for John and TLC. Win-win for all. Let's make this happen in 2022! After that, it's a hot new Tik Tok trend: time travelers making videos to reveal things what will defintely happen. Speaking of things that will happen, a poor couple getting married had NO idea what they were in for when they were standing at the altar. It's a trifecta of bad omens! Then, we end the show strong with some miscellaneous convo. It's a solid way to end 2021. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Standup comedian, director, actor, and bestselling author Bob Saget chats with Trey Elling for episode #4 of our NO BOOKS REQUIRED series, ahead of his show at Austin's Paramount Theatre on Friday night. Questions include: How did it feel when Mitzi Shore passed him at the Comedy Store in the late 1970s? What are his memories of the late Bill Hicks? Why did he end up in one of the most memorable scenes in HALF BAKED? Did the studio as that they tone down the film DIRTY WORK to avoid an 'R' rating? Was Dave Coulier the mystery man in Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know"? Is there a story from his friendship with the late, great Norm Macdonald that accurately reflects the sort of person Norm was?

Today on episode 622 we have a fantastic comedian on the show Macey Isaacs. I first saw Macey doing stand up at The Comedy Store in the Belly Room around 3 years ago and thought she had some great jokes and great delivery. Macey has some very dry human that reminded me of Bob Newhart and Steven Wright who we both love. Today we sit down today and talk about how she got into Stand Up from moving to LA from Austin, To being an Intern for comedy manager Barry Katz to taking courses at Groundlings. Macey has a great story and I think you guys are gonna dig it. Make sure you guys follow her on instagram @maceyisaacs and go see her on stage in the Los Angeles area. This week's show starts off by giving an update on a topic covered on last week's show: bears and their hibernating schedule. Our listener, "the bear man" weighs in on the topic. After that, there's some brief Bigtime Tommy and Daddy Man discussion. We then get into some Demi Lovato news (you're all waiting for it!). Does someone in the comedy world have beef with D+O??? Oooooooh. Listen and find out if there's something going on or much ado about nothing. After that, we talk about an Austrian brothel that is approaching Covid vaccination in a different way than more traditional places. O'Neill talks about some interesting crowd members he encountered at the Comedy Store. That leads into a story about a California teacher using some non-traditional and out-of-the-box and possibly insane teaching methods. Danish asks for some advice about a dude who keeps inserting himself in his family walks. We end the show by wondering where the Bushman is these days. Bob has known Marlon Wayans since he was a kid. Not Bob, Marlon. Speaking' of which…THIS EPISODE IS NOT FOR KIDS— MAYBE 15 OR 16 AND UP IS COOL IF YOU'RE COOL WITH THAT….Bob catches up with Marlon, who is in the middle of shooting a new film for NETFLIX in Atlanta, tentatively titled, “BOO," a sweet funny Halloween type movie--- But Marlon and Bob talk about everything from Marlon's roots-- hanging out at the Comedy Store as a little kid, when he first met Bob with his brothers Keenen and Damon— to how his comedy career took off, through his crazy funny films like, WHITE CHICKS and LITTLE MAN, all the way through his incredible performance in “RESPECT,” Starring Jennifer Hudson, out now on APPLE TV and DEMAND. They dive into his new Stand-up Special, “YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS,“ On HBO Max, and discuss how that affected him personally, as well as his first special on NETFLIX, “WOKE-ISH.” It's a special conversation, dealing with Marlon's views on Cancel Culture, Comedy, and his deep love and need of it. And we go even deeper into his acceptance of being pigeon-toed. Bob tried to “be there for him,” admitting, he has duck feet, that point outward. Bob loved this conversation with this funny, interesting comedian, actor, writer, producer, and honest man he's known since way before he was man, legally. Listen Anywhere! Peter Abrams, is a 22 year old award-winning comedian and musician, author, speaker and entrepreneur who found his lucky break by working and becoming the mentee of Russell Brand. In just two years; he has been fortunate enough to perform at a wide range of events including notable stages such as TED, Mind Body Spirit London, The National Science Museum, Glastonbury and Madison Square Garden to name a few. He has published one book titled Our Story Called Life, which looked at the meaning of life by comparing numerous cultures' belief systems, quite a unique concept for a book written by a then eighteen year old. The book sold fantastically for a first-time author and allowed to speak at prestigious events including a TED-talk this November and The National Science Museum. This journey led him to comedy and subsequently music, which for the last two years he has performed extensively in the United Kingdom and recently internationally on my 'Life is a Joke' tour which spanned 12 countries including the United States, China and Australia. He has been fortunate and successful and has performed at venues including The Comedy Store, The Boiler-room, Glastonbury and Latitude Festival. https://www.amazon.com/Anti-Self-Help-Peter-Abrams/dp/024442408X/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=anti+self+help+by+peter+abrams&qid=1636154142&qsid=141-4497020-0598313&sr=8-2&sres=024442408X&srpt=ABIS_BOOKThe Douglas Coleman Show now offers audio and video promotional packages for music artists as well as video promotional packages for authors. What Can We Do?? Talking Hot Topics with Vegas Legend Finis Henderson Finis Hendrson isn't just a Vegas Legend he is an entertainment legend! I was honored to sit down with him and chat about the biz Check out his webpage here. https://finis.com/about-finis-henderson/ Finis Henderson was born in Chicago to a family of entertainers. His father was a song and dance man and Vice-President of Sammy Davis Jr. Enterprises and Sammy Davis was Finis' Godfather. Finis' uncle Bill Henderson is a Grammy nominated jazz singer and character actor in dozens of movies and television shows. In the 1980's Finis moved to Los Angeles to embark on a solo career and was guided by his cousin Al McKay the rhythm guitarist from one of the hottest bands at the time, Earth, Wind and Fire. Finis was signed to Motown by Suzanne de Passé who signed The Jackson 5 and The Commodores. Al McKay produced Finis' self-titled album and Stevie Wonder wrote one of the songs on that album. “Skip to My Lou” one of the songs on that album became a R&B/funk hit, is still played on radio stations today worldwide particularly in Japan where it has a cult following. In 2013 Universal Music which bought Motown released a digitally remastered CD version of “Finis”. While working to develop a music career, Finis earned a living performing his impressions in comedy clubs across the country including The Laugh Factory, Improvs and Stardome. The legendary Mitzi Shore who founded the famous Comedy Store gave Finis a platform to perform on and where he made lasting relationships in the comedy world. Richard Pryor and Robin Williams performed improvisations with Finis there. Pryor was so enamored with Finis that Richard invited him to be the opening act for his movie “Live on the Sunset Strip”. Subsequently Finis opened for many of the top names in comedy including Rodney Dangerfield, Alan King and Robert Klein. Finis currently opens for Jay Leno at the Mirage in Las Vegas when their schedules permit. In 2013, after performing a musical concert at the $1 billion Red Rock casino in Las Vegas' toniest community of Summerlin, Finis headlined for a week at the Laugh Factory in the Tropicana on the Las Vegas Strip. Today Finis concentrates his work in three markets (1) cruise lines, (2) casinos and (3) corporate. Finis is one of the most prolific headliners on Royal Caribbean and has also worked for other cruise lines including Holland America and Princess. After making many appearances in Atlantic City, Finis was the recurring headliner at Gold Strike in Tunica before it was sold. Finis also performs at private high roller parties at casinos in Las Vegas and throughout the country, which are really more akin to corporate events. “There is a real overlap now between casinos and corporate particularly as Las Vegas has become more dependent on conventions and trade shows and less on gambling. In the past few years, aside from my public work with Jay Leno at the Mirage, all of my performances in Las Vegas have been either private high roller or corporate events; actually that has been true of Reno too where my last two Reno shows were for a health care company and a building supplies trade group”, Finis concluded. Finis Henderson has been the leading choice of the world's largest companies including many in the Fortune 500 to entertain their clients and employees. “I told Finis he has tremendous Wall Street appeal as his corporate client list includes every industry sector in the S&P 500”, said Ken Frankel a former hedge fund manager whose firm is Finis' current manager.
