The Detroit Public Safety Foundation is celebrating "Women In Blue" for the month of May. The Women in Blue program is a celebration of the women within the Detroit Police Department, Detroit Fire Department and EMS. This week I went to the breakfast where all of these amazing women were honored. I had a chance to speak with so many incredible people, including Ingham County Judge Rosemarie Aqualina who resided over the Larry Nassar sexual assault trial. She is an inspiration and after hearing her message about women power, I truly believe there is nothing that women cannot accomplish if they truly decide to. https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/judge-in-larry-nassar-case-to-be-keynote-speaker-at-women-in-blue-event While at the event I spoke with Carolyn Clifford from WXYZ Channel 7, Detroit Police Chief James E. Craig and a survivor of Larry Nassar Trinae Gonczar. I also ran into Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy who was featured on "Women Who Rock" a couple weeks ago and 1st Assistant Police Chief Lashinda Stair who was featured on last weeks' "Women Who Rock". In the 2nd half of the podcast Cyndy Schalter-Salsido from Turning Point Macomb and I discuss the "Royal Wedding" and America's obsession with the royals. We also discuss cults. Lately, it seems every network has some show about someone who was in a cult, or escaped from one. Cyndy and I talk about why people are drawn to these organizations, and really how common they are. https://www.wmagazine.com/story/best-cult-documentaries-films-tv-to-watch Cyndy and I also discuss the second season of the Netlfix hit "13 Reasons Why". The show is back and is crating controversy again over the way some claim it glamorizes teen suicide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INuybFt2ZIo There is always help available if you or someone you know is thinking about hurting themselves.  The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States.
