Influence and Persuasion are powerful tools that we can and should use while managing our teams. While these topics may make some uncomfortable, the tools of persuasion are natural within human psychology and are taking place even if we are unaware of them. As a Psychological Warfare profession, I was well-trained in using these tools and employed them throughout PSYOP campaigns. Now as a leader of teams, I see them through a different framework and have taken the lessons to be the best leader possible. In this series, we'll be exploring the work of Robert Cialdini in his seminal work “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion”. This week we kick off "Women's History Month" and our "Women of Influence Series" with Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby. She is Baltimore's 25th State's Attorney and she is dedicated and committed to the people of this great city. In our interview Atty Mosby talks very candidly about her decision to charge the 6 officers who killed unarmed Freddy Gray back in 2015, and the backlash that ensued. And, while those officers were not convicted of those charges back in 2015, we can still see some of the residual effects of Atty Mosby's decision to charge this officers, in future cases that have impacted the Black Community such as George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and many others. We appreciate Atty Mosby's candor, as well as her vision for the city of Baltimore. She went into this profession as an attorney to effectuate change not just in her community but in this country, and we believe she is doing just that. We are excited that she is kicking off Women's History Month and our Women of Influence Series in this week's episode. PLUS, in our Thought of the Week, we have a message for the Ukrainian people entitled, "Am I My Brother's Keeper?" It is an encouraging and inspirational message to the people of Ukraine that are currently fighting for their lives and their freedom in the midst of this senseless and unjust war with Russia and Vladmir Putin. Our thoughts and prayers are continually with the families of those impacted by this senseless violence, and we believe most importantly that God is definitely in control. We hope you will take some time to check out this week's edition of the Thinking Out Loud Radio Show.

Jemele talks in her recent article in "The Atlantic" about the boycott and why she not only agrees with Mark Cuban, but he should stuck to his guns and stayed the course and other sports teams should have done so as well. Plus, we in honor of Women's History Month and International Women's Day, we pay tribute one of the greatest women to ever live. You might have some ideas of who that is,but I guarantee you, you'll be surprised to know who it is and migjht be shocked to discover the true essence of her greatness is not found in the world's perception or misperception of her, but it is found in something very simple and quite often overlooked. INFLUENCE Series final episode: Robert and I continue in this third segment with more nuances about how he effectively manages his team and has evolved in his career as a leader. Particularly with a focus on being a heart-led leader, with an emphasis on gratitude and support for your team. Honestly, it was hard for me as the interviewer in this segment not to keep the conversation going and going. We had a time commitment and of course you have to manage the length of the podcast, so there are a couple things in particular that I was extremely tempted to dive further into. The point I am trying to make is that Robert's diverse background, his authentic heart for leading with others in mind first, and his positive energy are a wealth of experience and perspective that I thoroughly enjoyed hearing and learning from. Vicki Saunders is an entrepreneur, an award-winning mentor and an advisor to the next generation of change makers. A sought-after speaker, Vicki has graced the stages of TEDx Conferences, the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Women of Influence Series in Canada and was selected... The post Radically Generous Women with Vicki Saunders – April 5, 2018 appeared first on Startup Canada.
During Week Eight of our series, Influence, Julia Muir talks about the obstruction that Guilt can have in our influence as followers of Christ.
During Week 7 of our series, Influence, Rachel Ashe teaches how we can hear God's calling on our lives.
The tricky thing about influence is that we may never see its impact. Moses, one of the most influential people in the Bible, never saw the promised land. But does that mean we should stop trying to influence others for Jesus? No. Instead, we are called to chase faithfulness that lasts, not influence that fades.
During week six of our series, Influence, John Ashe talks about the importance using the gifts and and anointing God gives us to bring heaven to earth in our community.
The power of influence is so much greater than we think. It doesn't just happen by mistake. To have true influence we need to be intentional with our actions.
During Week Five of our series Influence, our dear friend, Father Columba comes to speak with us about the power of operating in the supernatural giftings of healing and words of knowledge.
Moses' story is one of influence: standing up to Pharaoh, freeing the Israelites from Egypt, leading his people into battle. But though Moses lived a life of remarkable influence, that influence wouldn't have been possible without people by his side holding him up. We too have influence. But when we're tired, when we're restless, when we're needing to step out spiritually, who is holding us up?
During Week Four of our series, Influence, Jill Somerville teaches on the distinction between calling, gifts, & anointing.
During Week Three of our series, Influence, Amy Blair shares a powerful message on anointing.
During week two of our series, Influence, John Asks talks explains the five-fold ministry and why it is so important for the church to operate the way God has intended in bringing heaven to earth.
John Ashe introduces our new series, Influence, by explaining the importance of desiring a greater anointing and grace for spiritual gifts and how we can receive it.
Did you know that only 4% of venture capital funding goes to women entrepreneurs? Did you also know that in 2016, there were over 11.3 million women-owned businesses in the U.S. that employed nearly 9 million people and generated over $1.6 trillion in revenues? So why the disconnect? But more importantly, what would you do if faced with experiencing this social injustice? In steps Vicki Saunders. With her globally recognized company called SheEO, serial entrepreneur Vicki Saunders is on a mission to disrupt and reimagine the venture funding model for women-led companies around the world using a philosophy she calls radical generosity. How does it work? Up to 1,000 women in each region contribute $1,000 which creates a one million dollar fund. The money is then loaned out to up to 10 women-led ventures at 0% interest, paid back over 5 years and reinvested perpetually. Vicki’s big-picture calculation: a billion dollars going to 10,000 female entrepreneurs every year, in perpetuity. Take that Sand Hill Road. On this episode, Vicki shares her purpose filled journey leading up to this point, why venture capital and traditional funding models have mostly failed women, an inside look at the sheEO strategy, several success stories from her portfolio, and even key principles from her popular book, Think Like a SheEO. All this and more on today’s episode. Now, That’s Unusual. About Vicki Saunders Vicki Saunders is the founder of SheEO, Inc., a global initiative designed to radically transform how we support, finance and celebrate female entrepreneurs who are creating a better world. SheEO provides a platform in which generous women Activators act as advisors, early customers, suppliers, connectors and follow-on investors to set up emerging female entrepreneurs for immediate and accelerated growth. Saunders is a serial entrepreneur, award-winning mentor, and leading advocate for entrepreneurship as a way to create positive transformation in the world. She has co-founded and run four ventures in Europe, Toronto and Silicon Valley, including Zazengo, The NRG Group, and Impactanation. Saunders was selected as a Global Leader for Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum, and she speaks regularly at events such as the Women of Influence Series in Canada, the Tallberg Forum, and the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs. Saunders is passionate about designing new forms of financing to support businesses building a better world, and she has been a committed mentor to over 1000 businesses over of the course of her career. Key Interview Takeaways What will you do now that you are free? Saunders was in Europe when the Berlin Wall fell, and being surrounded by dreamers asking that question inspired her to become an entrepreneur – and support others in starting businesses of their own. Small actions – aggregated together – make a big impact. Saunders’ software as a service company, Zazengo, tracked sustainability actions and sought to change individual behavior by demonstrating collective impact. Diversity of interest heightens creativity. Saunders is deeply curious about many different things, and her ability to synthesize what she learns from different areas allows her to cultivate a unique world view. Timing is everything. Women were not at the table to design the current models, so now that ‘everything is broken,’ it is the perfect opportunity for female innovators to step forward. Adopt radical generosity. Saunders’ SheEO model asks 1,000 women to contribute $1,100. The million dollar fund is then loaned out to up to ten women-led ventures (at 0% interest), paid back over five years – and reinvested perpetually. Radical generosity goes against the current ‘winner takes all’ mindset which has led to 8 people having the same wealth as 3.5 billion people. Talk about capital inefficient! Validation engenders confidence. The women selected to be a part of the SheEO initiative benefit from the support,
