In this special double feature Christmas Drive-In episode, hosts Christian Ashley and Evan Garcia are joined by former host Nick Polk to dive into a festive discussion about "South Park: Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo" and "Phineas and Ferb's Christmas Vacation." They kick things off by pondering how the secular world celebrates Christmas, exploring the hilarious yet poignant social commentary in the South Park episode, which feels as relevant now as it did back in the day. Nick shares his fresh perspective on the Phineas and Ferb episode, revealing it as his first viewing, while the trio reflects on gift-giving and the true spirit of the holidays. With witty banter and clever insights, they navigate through nostalgia, culture, and the quirks of holiday traditions, all while keeping it light-hearted and fun. As they wrap up, the conversation underscores the importance of finding common ground amidst differing beliefs, all while celebrating the joy and silliness of Christmas cheer. Christian Ashley, Evan Garcia, and former host Nick Polk dive into a special double feature Christmas Drive-In episode that explores the delightful chaos of two beloved holiday specials: South Park's 'Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo' and Phineas and Ferb's 'Christmas Vacation'. The trio brings a mix of nostalgia and witty banter as they dissect how each show approaches the holiday spirit. They kick things off with South Park, a show known for its sharp satire and irreverent humor, where they discuss the timelessness of its messages amidst the absurdity of Mr. Hankey, a literal piece of feces who embodies Christmas cheer. The conversation highlights how the show's commentary on societal issues feels eerily relevant today, making it clear that while the humor is crude, the underlying messages about acceptance and the absurdity of holiday commercialization resonate deeply. Transitioning to Phineas and Ferb, they revel in the show's charm and creativity, praising its ability to blend humor with heartfelt moments. They discuss the brothers' whimsical approach to Christmas, which emphasizes giving and the joy of togetherness over materialism. The crew appreciates how the show remains accessible to younger audiences while cleverly incorporating jokes that resonate with adults, creating a rich tapestry of humor that appeals to all ages. They touch on the significance of family, friendship, and the importance of creating memories during the holiday season, making their analysis both insightful and entertaining. Throughout the episode, laughter is abundant as they share personal anecdotes and reflections on their experiences with both shows, creating an engaging atmosphere that captures the true spirit of Christmas: joy, reflection, and a touch of nostalgia. As they wrap up, the hosts leave listeners with a shared sense of warmth and camaraderie, reminding everyone of the magic of the holiday season through the lens of two iconic animated series.Takeaways:Christian Ashley, Evan Garcia, and Nick Polk dive into the holiday hilarity of South Park's Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo, revealing its timeless commentary on modern-day Christmas chaos and cultural clashes.Nick Polk shares his fresh take on Phineas and Ferb's Christmas Vacation, offering insights into the show's unique blend of humor and heart, making it a must-watch for fans of all ages. The trio discusses the delicate balance between holiday cheer and the complexities of faith, touching on how South Park tackles themes of inclusion and exclusion during the festive season.Listeners are treated to a witty banter about the absurdities of Christmas traditions, including a discussion on...

Elf? It's A Wonderful Life? Christmas Vacation?
On this episode of the National Crawford Roundtable podcast the guys discuss the true meaning of Christmas.
It's a year end, clocked out episode with Burke joining the show for holiday traditions, Christmas movie rotations, and why Christmas Vacation hits different the older you get. Then it's straight into the biggest geek headlines: the Avengers: Doomsday chatter around Steve Rogers, Christopher Nolan taking on The Odyssey (and why it feels built for IMAX), and the latest Superman casting talk with Lars Ettinger reportedly stepping in as Brainiac. The back half is a full, spoiler heavy review of Avatar: Fire and Ashes, covering the new faction dynamics, how the family story lands this time, Varang's presence as a villain, Quaritch's shifting loyalties, and what the ending sets up for what's next. Timestamps and Topics 00:00:00 Intro and holiday vibe check with Burke 00:00:51 Christmas decorating habits, movie rotation, and Vacation franchise talk 00:03:49 Avengers: Doomsday discussion and the Steve Rogers reaction 00:08:59 Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey trailer breakdown and IMAX hype 00:14:04 Superman talk, Lars Ettinger as Brainiac, and story hopes 00:17:34 Avatar: Fire and Ashes review begins (full spoilers) 00:27:35 Varang breakdown, motivations, and the darker mirror of "I see you" 00:33:27 Kiri's bigger role, the spiritual threads, and what it could mean next 00:41:44 Nitpicks, repetition talk, and the voice casting complaint 00:46:09 Scores, theater recommendation, and looking ahead Key Takeaways The episode starts relaxed and holiday coded, then shifts into big franchise conversation fast. The Avengers: Doomsday segment focuses on bringing Steve Rogers back without flattening Sam Wilson's space in the story. The Odyssey trailer has the crew excited for Nolan going mythic on a massive, grounded scale made for premium screens. Brainiac feels like a smart follow up villain for Superman, especially if the story ties power to personal stakes and Krypton lore. Avatar: Fire and Ashes hits harder emotionally this time, with Spider's place in the family and Neytiri's growth standing out. The main knocks are a few familiar Avatar beats repeating, even if the spectacle still wins. Memorable Quotes "This is very much Christmas Vacation. We are clocked out." "At the end of the day, I'm just happy to have Steve Rogers back." "How do they keep making perfect movies?" "You're basically following a dead man's memories." "I see you in that mirror." "I felt like the Colonel when I was just sitting there staring at her." Send us a textWhat makes a Christmas tradition stick—the flavor, the place, or the story you tell about it? We gathered five friends from across the map to trade brutally honest eggnog takes, map out Christmas Eve and Day rituals, and argue for the movies that still make us feel like kids. From beach fires in North Carolina to church services and the Feast of the Seven Fishes, the thread running through it all is simple: small moments, strong memories. We dive into the comfort classics—Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation, the original cartoon Grinch, both Home Alones, Polar Express, and the underappreciated Charlie Brown specials—and shout out favorite characters like Buddy the Elf, Ralphie, Yukon Cornelius, and the Heat Miser vs. Snow Miser duo. Then we hop towns to find real places that look like movie sets: Chagrin Falls and Hudson in Ohio, Carmel's rink and German market in Indiana, Sugarcreek's Amish charm, and West Virginia's Berkeley Springs with its storybook main street. If you're building a holiday road trip, we've got a ready-made list: Oglebay Festival of Lights, Pittsburgh's PPG Place rink and the Point, Cleveland's Zoo Lights, downtown Willoughby's Light Up Night, and the A Christmas Story House.Food gets personal fast. Ham and scalloped potatoes, beef tenderloin, and an avalanche of Christmas cookies take center stage, with regional favorites like Sarris chocolate adding bite. We also take on the live-sports-on-Christmas question (most of us say stay home unless it's a great NBA matchup) and rank gifts—dinner out tops the list, edging gift cards, with candy a distant third. The why is clear: shared experiences beat stuff when the goal is connection. If you're craving ideas for holiday fun, movie nostalgia, or new traditions that actually fit your life, this coSubscribe for exclusive content: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1530455/support Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREETactical BrotherhoodThe Tactical Brotherhood is a movement to support America.Dubby EnergyFROM GAMERS TO GYM JUNKIES TO ENTREPRENEURS, OUR PRODUCT IS FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BE BETTER.ShankitgolfOur goal here at Shankitgolf is for everyone to have a great time on and off the golf courseSweet Hands SportsElevate your game with Sweet Hands Sports! In this festive, laugh-out-loud episode, Tara is joined by Jackie Santillan and Priscilla Kavanaugh, hosts of the new We Say What podcast, for a cozy (and slightly chaotic) holiday roundtable that feels like catching up with friends over spiked cocoa. The trio swaps stories about how holiday traditions evolve as families grow, like coordinated outfits, holiday videos, and the never-ending question of whether sending Christmas cards is worth the time, money, or sanity. They also tackle holiday fashion (yes, buffalo plaid has officially taken over) and reflect on how modern motherhood adds a whole new layer to the “most wonderful time of the year.” Things really heat up when the conversation turns to holiday movies. Through a spirited bracket-style showdown, they debate classics like It's a Wonderful Life, Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, and modern favorites like Elf. Along the way, they unpack why childhood staples like Home Alone, Rudolph, The Grinch, and even The Muppets hold such powerful emotional weight, and why nostalgia often decides the winner long before the final argument is made. The hosts also touch on how portrayals of family dynamics in older films can be both hilarious and… a little questionable. By the end, the episode becomes less about crowning the “best” Christmas movie and more about what these films represent: memories, traditions, and the comfort of revisiting stories that shaped us. With plenty of humor, friendly debate, and knowing nods to the holiday hustle, Tara, Jackie and Priscilla remind listeners that the magic of the season isn't about doing it perfectly. It's about taking time to enjoy special moments with our families. Send us a textI love the scene in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation where Chevy Chase is in the attic and he steps on board after board that hits him in the face. I used to almost pee my pants over that part. This music video for Blame It On the Mistletoe reminds me of the sentimental scene that follows the slap-happy board face-smacking scene. Clark found old family movies and he's reminiscing. Colleen was purposeful in having the video have that feel as well as a nostalgic timeless feel to the song. Colleen used her contacts during the pandemic to get this video created. She remembered asking a bandmate and his wife to do a kissing scene since you know, no actors during the pandemic were going to do a kissing scene, LOL!! Colleen shared about the venue, The Standard, in which the video was recorded. Colleen has performed there many times and met a lot of stars throughout her singing career. She had her friend, Nikki Williams, sing back up on this song. Nikki has some pretty impressive chops and is the go-to in Nashville for songwriting. Colleen gave the inside scoop as to how she and Nikki became friends. Nikki was all too happy to back up Colleen. I hope you all check it out but I don't hope for you to get it stuck in your head for a week, like I did! I "blame it on the mistletoe...." This is on my personal Christmas playlist and will stay there for all future Christmases. Full Show Notes

Episode 350 is a Christmas-season milestone for The Kibbe & Friends Show, and the guys deliver exactly what the week before Christmas calls for: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation with all the extra flavor only K&F can add. Rob, Corndog, and Bernie celebrate the “small block Chevy” episode number, clink moose mugs, share the good news that Holley is back for 2026, and recap a successful Toys for Tots push—setting the table for a holiday episode that feels equal parts tradition, gratitude, and pure fun. From there, the crew dives into why Christmas Vacation still works no matter how many times you've seen it. They talk about aging from Rusty into Clark Griswold, revisit the scenes that still make them laugh every single time, and swap favorite moments that prove it's not about the plot—it's about delivery, timing, and how real the chaos feels. Along the way, they sprinkle in car-guy details, Vacation lore, and a killer behind-the-scenes nugget about a scripted ending that never made the final cut. If this movie is part of your yearly ritual, this episode will make you want to queue it up again as soon as the show ends. Join mega nerds Dre Alvarez and Jeff May as they geek out on a different nerdy cultural touchstone every month. Part reminiscence, part historical deep dive. This month, Dre and Jeff WRAP up their season on Movies Dre Should've Seen by Now with the 1989 Christmas Comedy classic National Lampoon's Christmas Vacvation. And because we theme these episodes to the corresponding holiday, we've added special guest (and Christmas aficionado) Emy LaCroix Halle (Hobby Hopping with Emy)There's a lot to unpack about this hilarous (yet rooted in controversy) Holiday staple, so let's get 25,000 lights up on the house, jolin the Jelly of the Month Club, and say Grace (even though she died 30 years ago) as we tackle one of the (debatably) greatest Christmas movies of all-time, that for some reason Dre Hadn't Seen Until Now.And, of course, don't forget to follow Emy (@theemylacroix, @hobbyhoppingwithemy) Dre (@nerdnumbers) Jeff (@heytherejeffro2 or @heytherejeffro) on the socials, and have a nerdy day!
