Alex talks about the hottest issue leading up to next week's election….the 2026 election. California's Proposition 50 is a power play by Governor Newsom and Democrats to fight back against Republican gerrymandering in Texas, in the hopes of saving Democratic seats in Congress in the midterm elections. Now a firestorm has ignited with states across the country launching redistricting efforts, and both parties have come to play. First, Alex hears about grassroots efforts to tackle the issue from Richard von Glahn, the Executive Director of People Not Politicians in Missouri. Then she speaks to democratic strategist David Plouffe about the moral quandary Democrats find themselves in, and why our hyper partisan political environment necessitates a gloves-off approach. We're just about a week out from Election Day, and I have to say, this is what I live for. These are the kind of stories that really scratch the itch for anybody who loves the game of politics as much as I do. We've got real contests, real dollars behind them, and actual electoral stakes. Yes, I know it's not a presidential year, but this is the sandbox where some serious groundwork gets laid. And for as much as I hate the off-off-year calendar, I love election season more than anything. Here's my breakdown of where I think the chips are going to fall in November.Politics Politics Politics is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Starting in California, we've got Prop 50. Gavin Newsom has staked a big chunk of political capital on this one. It's pitched as a pushback on Republican redistricting, with the messaging ultimately landing on “protecting America from Trump.” What started off messy got refined quickly, and with Newsom's team sticking the landing, I see a 10 to 15 point win. McCarthy was supposed to pour in $100 million to fight it, but as of now, the actual spending is suspiciously light. All that adds up to a clear Democratic win.Now onto Virginia: Winsome Earl Sears vs. Abigail Spanberger. I'm heading up to D.C. this weekend, and originally thought I'd be bouncing around Virginia to catch campaign stops. But Sears? She's nowhere to be found. Spanberger, while not the most electrifying candidate, has managed to avoid major blunders post-Jay Jones scandal. The polling tells a consistent story; Spanberger holding a lead that's grown since the scandal broke. I'm calling it Spanberger by eight. Could be tighter, but it's hard to see Sears overcoming the fundamentals working against her.As for Jay Jones, man, what a collapse. DUI, community service for his own super PAC, and leaked texts about shooting a rival politician? That's how you lose an election. Miyares hasn't trailed since that story broke. Nate Silver might be holding out hope, pointing to early voting and ticket-splitting, but my money's on Miyares by one. A close one, but still a loss for Jones. This scandal made a difference, period.New Yorkers better get ready for Mayor Zohran Mamdani. He hasn't been behind at all in public polling, all while Cuomo is clawing for relevance. Meanwhile, Curtis Sliwa isn't pulling enough Republican support to matter to anyone but Cuomo. The energy just isn't there for a last-minute surprise. Mamdani by 13.And then there's New Jersey. The Mikie Sherrill vs. Jack Ciattarelli race is the sleeper of the night. Sherrill has led for most of the race, but recent polling has things tightening. Trafalgar and Coefficient both show her up by one. Republicans are feeling bullish, and if this ends within three points, they'll have reason to. That would mean New Jersey, at minimum, becomes a fringe battleground in 2028. Not quite Arizona-level swing, but enough to force Democrats to spend real money defending it. I'm predicting Sherrill wins — but just barely.Chapters00:00:00 - Intro00:03:32 - Election Predictions00:23:08 - Update00:24:53 - Trade Deals00:30:58 - Shutdown00:38:10 - Israel00:44:36 - Interview with Austin Padgett01:38:03 - Wrap-up This is a public episode. Tomi Lahren, host of Tomi Lahren is Fearless on OutKick, co-host of The Big Weekend Show, and Fox News Contributor, joined The Guy Benson Show today to discuss the disturbing clip of Jennifer Welch laughing as a woman celebrated the death of Charlie Kirk, and why Lahren says it reveals the moral decay of the modern left. Lahren also weighed in on how Democrats have become beholden to "activists... podcasters... and TikTokers," increasingly alienating normal centrists and voters. Lahren and Benson also blasted Gavin Newsom's bizarre lie about his upbringing and his backpedaling on his son's support for Charlie Kirk. Finally, Lahren reacted to Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson's refusal to say "illegal alien" as he called the term racist, while ironically associating it with skin color. Gavin Newsom is officially running for President — and he WILL pose a threat to Republicans. Make no mistake Gavin Newsom is no push over. Still, Grant Stinchfield is calling it what it is: a desperate power grab by a failed governor trying to polish his record for a national audience. In this episode, Grant goes through every supposed “policy success” of Newsom’s — from homelessness to crime to education to taxes — and can’t find a single real win for the people of California. The Golden State is crumbling under his watch, and now he wants to do to America what he did to California, ruin it. Plus, Grant issues a clear call for Andrew Cuomo to step out of the race for New York City Mayor — not Curtis Sliwa — making the case that Cuomo’s scandals and authoritarian record have no place in American leadership. He will only prolong the misery of New York while creating more Zohran Mamdani's. Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Get Ready to VOTE Election Day 2025. The hour kicks off with a discussion on the upcoming elections in New York City, Virginia, and New Jersey, emphasizing the stakes and voter turnout trends. Clay shares a personal anecdote about voting locally and previews an interview with Riley Gaines, who recently faced backlash from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over her stance on protecting women’s sports. The conversation quickly pivots to the New York City mayoral race, spotlighting controversial candidate Zohran Mamdani. Clay and Buck dissect Mamdani’s shifting narratives, including his disputed claims about Islamophobia post-9/11 and radical past statements such as “Defund the NYPD” and linking police to the IDF. They analyze why voters seem unfazed by these revelations and criticize Andrew Cuomo’s lackluster campaign strategy. The hosts warn that Mamdani’s progressive platform—featuring ideas like government-run grocery stores and fare-free buses—reflects a dangerous trend toward socialist policies that could devastate city infrastructure and small businesses. The "White Men Are Evil" Argument Clay and Buck discuss Zohran Mamdani, the leading candidate for New York City mayor, and dissect his radical platform and controversial family background. They highlight statements made by Mamdani’s father, a Columbia University professor, who accused the United States of inspiring Nazi genocide through its treatment of Native Americans. Clay and Buck push back hard, offering a detailed historical rebuttal that includes references to colonial history, tribal warfare, and global conquest, arguing that the left’s narrative is rooted in anti-American sentiment and historical ignorance. The conversation expands to critique the broader Democratic leadership, including figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and Gavin Newsom, warning that the “New York City liberal” and “California liberal” brands are becoming toxic in middle America. They praise more moderate Democratic mayors like Daniel Lurie in San Francisco and Muriel Bowser in Washington, D.C., for showing signs of pragmatism, especially in working with President Trump on crime reduction and urban policy. Trump '28 Unity Ticket? record-breaking highs in the S&P 500, Dow Jones, and NASDAQ, crediting President Trump’s economic policies for the surge. He contrasts this with media narratives from earlier in the year that predicted economic collapse, emphasizing the disconnect between Wall Street performance and lingering ground-level effects from the Biden-era economy. The hosts then pivot to Trump’s Asia tour, highlighting his meetings with leaders in Japan, South Korea, and potentially North Korea’s Kim Jong-un. Trump’s comments aboard Air Force One spark speculation about a JD Vance–Marco Rubio unity ticket for 2028, with Clay and Buck debating the plausibility of Trump stepping aside while endorsing his successors. A major segment features Trump’s challenge to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and Rep. Jasmine Crockett, mocking their intelligence and inviting them to take cognitive tests. Crockett fires back, accusing Trump of elitism and racial obsession, prompting Clay and Buck to critique the intellectual caliber of current congressional representatives across party lines. Riley Gaines vs. AOC Riley Gaines discusses her recent clash with AOC over women’s sports. Gaines shares her experience as a new mom, pushing back against cultural narratives that discourage young women from motherhood. She also responds to AOC’s dismissive comments about her athletic achievements, defending her fifth-place NCAA ranking and criticizing the left’s hypocrisy on women’s sports and fairness. Join Jim and Greg for the Tuesday 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss left-leaning unions now demanding Democrats support the GOP bill to fund the government, Republicans essentially surrendering the fight against Gavin Newsom's California gerrymandering referendum, and Graham Platner's campaign manager jumping ship after just three days on the job.First, they highlight the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) union publicly demanding an end to the government shutdown and urging Democrats to back the clean extension of government funding pushed by Republicans. Four different pilots' unions are making the same demand. Will this convince four more Senate Dems to switch sides?Next, they wince as the groups spending the most money to defeat California Gov. Gavin Newsom's ballot initiative to gerrymander the state's congressional map are now spending very little and essentially surrendering the fight. Finally, they get a kick out of Maine Democrat U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner's campaign manager stepping down after three days on the job. Kevin Brown says it's because he and his wife just found out they are expecting a baby and Platner deserves a campaign manager with undivided attention. But that timing seems awfully convenient given Platner's Nazi tattoo scandal. Please visit our great sponsors:Cancel unwanted subscriptions and reach your financial goals faster with Rocket Money at https://RocketMoney.com/MARTINI Build your fall sanctuary of comfort with Boll and Branch. The ripple effects of President Trump's national gerrymandering battle are being felt in California's rich agricultural belt. Next week, voters in the state will decide whether to support Proposition 50. That's Governor Newsom's plan to counter surprise redistricting in Texas and other red states. If Prop 50 passes, Congressman David Valadao of the Central Valley would be one of five Republicans on the chopping block. And that worries farmers in his district. Carl Jackson fills in for Mike, tackling the big fights shaping America’s future. He breaks down Trump’s foreign policy wins, the socialist creep overtaking U.S. cities, and the growing threat of Islamism and authoritarianism in politics. Carl calls out Democrat hypocrisy—from Gavin Newsom’s fake “rags-to-riches” act to politicians posing as champions of the working class—while warning how weakness at home fuels chaos abroad.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
California is under pressure to build more homes — fast. In response to the state's housing mandates, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie is pushing a major plan to upzone parts of the city's north and west sides, allowing for tens of thousands of new homes. But some residents are concerned that housing changes will do more harm than good. Scott and Marisa talk to Jason Elliott, former housing advisor to Gov. Gavin Newsom and now president of Versus Solutions, about what's driving the state's housing mandates and how upzoning could reshape San Francisco. Plus, they discuss California's legislation on artificial intelligence and how the government should regulate AI. Check out Political Breakdown's weekly newsletter, delivered straight to your inbox. See what Portland media won't show you. Victoria Taft breaks down the so-called “cleanup” of Antifa's encampment—a carefully timed stunt ahead of a key Ninth Circuit decision. You'll watch how police literally negotiate with Antifa while harassing ordinary citizens just trying to drive home. You'll also hear about the government shutdown and how Democrats are using working families, air traffic safety, and food stamps as political leverage. Then, Victoria speaks with Yukong "Mike" Zhao from Chinese Americans for the Constitution. He shares his firsthand story of escaping communist China, facing harassment in California, and fighting back against Gavin Newsom's radical Prop 50 power grab.#antifa, #portland, #governmentshutdown, #victoria_taft, #mikezhou, #communism,#free_speech, #lawandorder, #pjmedia, #anarchists
Professor Eric Kaufmann joins me to talk about the drop in trans identification among young people, Gavin Newsom cosplays poor, and who I like in three school board races.
1. Radicalization of the Democratic Party The hosts argue that the Democratic Party has moved from moderate liberalism (e.g., Bill Clinton) to embracing far-left ideologies. They claim that figures like Mamdani, AOC, and Bernie Sanders represent a dangerous shift toward communism and anti-American sentiment. 2. Criticism of Zohran Mamdani Cruz and Ferguson scrutinize Mamdani’s background, including his father’s academic statements and Mamdani’s own comments post-9/11. They interpret Mamdani’s remarks as lacking patriotism and empathy for 9/11 victims. They highlight Mamdani’s association with controversial figures, including Imam Siraj Wahaj, whom they label as a jihadist. 3. Media and Political Hypocrisy The podcast mocks media outrage over President Trump building a ballroom at the White House while allegedly ignoring more serious issues like Mamdani’s political rise. They accuse Democrats of failing to police their own party and enabling extremism. 4. Gavin Newsom and Elite Hypocrisy Newsom is portrayed as a privileged elitist pretending to be a man of the people. His political persona is compared to Mamdani’s, with both accused of promoting Marxist policies under a polished public image. 5. Bill Maher’s Critique Bill Maher is cited as a liberal voice warning Democrats about the dangers of embracing far-left candidates like Mamdani. His comments are used to support the podcast’s argument that even mainstream liberals are alarmed by the party’s direction. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) alludes to his plans of running for president in 2028, but that would be a nightmare for America because he's a pathological liar and has a track record of running his state into the ground. New York City Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani gets caught in a 9/11 lie while trying to play the victim over Islamophobia. AOC has an unhinged speech and then argues that liberals aren't the crazy ones. Trump continues to troll liberals about running for a third term; however, Steve Bannon claims that there is actually a plan in place to re-elect Donald Trump in 2028. Trump joins in on the dancing as he's welcomed to Malaysia.
