This week, Drewby and Yergy head back over to Detroit to discuss a case that's been heavily requested here in 2025, and that's the case of 13-year-old Na'Ziyah Harris. Na'Ziyah was a beautiful little girl who was failed by quite literally all of the adults in her life. This led her directly into the path of Jarvis Butts, a 42-year-old known child predator. As of the date of release in May of 2025, Na'Ziyah has never been found, but is believed to be deceased. The only suspect? Jarvis Butts.  ⭐If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of Na'Ziyah Harris, please contact the Detroit Police Department's Major Crimes Division at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. In early August 2012, 33-year-old Tamala “Nikki” Wells vanished from her Detroit, Michigan, home under mysterious circumstances, leaving her friends in a state of confusion and despair. The last person to see Tamala, her boyfriend, claims she drove off from their home on the evening of August 6th in a white 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix, but after that, she disappeared without a trace. The following morning, Tamala's mother, Donna, received a chilling call from her young granddaughter. She revealed that Tamala had not come home, sparking immediate concern. Donna, who lived in Florida, rushed to Detroit to help search for her daughter. What followed was a series of unsettling discoveries. Tamala's car, reportedly driven by her on the night she disappeared, was found abandoned in a different part of town, but Tamala herself was nowhere to be found. As days turned into weeks, the case began to go cold. However, Tamala's family believes that the investigation was mishandled from the start and that there is still hope of finding her. They are convinced that with a fresh look and renewed effort, this case could be solved. If you have any information about the disappearance of Tamala "Nikki" Wells, please contact the Detroit Police Department at (313) 596-2200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.If you have a missing loved one that you would like to have featured on the show, please fill out our case submission form.Follow The Vanished on social media at:FacebookInstagramTwitterPatreonSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This thought-provoking episode explores the transformative potential of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for incarcerated individuals. Join us as we delve into the unique challenges faced by those in prison, including trauma, mental health struggles, and the stigma of incarceration. 1.8 million people are incarcerated in the U.S., and each year, 650,000 people reenter society and return to their communities. Many have high ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences Scores) and childhood neglect histories, contributing to the likelihood of reoffending. We speak with Dr. Sandra Paulsen and Ret. Lt. Ken Gardner, a 34-year veteran of the Detroit Police Department who became an EMDR therapist, discusses how this innovative therapy can help inmates process traumatic experiences and foster resilience. Tune in to understand the significance of mental health support for those behind bars and the hopeful possibilities that EMDR therapy can offer in breaking the cycle of trauma and recidivism. Whether you are a mental health advocate, a corrections professional, or simply curious about this approach, this episode will inspire you to reconsider the narrative around rehabilitation and healing in the justice system.ResourcesThe EMDR Therapy butterfly hug method for self-administered bilateral stimulation, Jarero, I., & Artigas, L. The morning after, it is revealed that the cop our protagonist killed was under investigation by Internal Affairs. When they find the staged suicide, it is discovered that the CI at the center of IA's investigation has been killed and was in the trunk of the car. Frank and Joe are put on the case to solve the murder that they perpetrated. Along with following the twisted goings on of their investigation, we also see some of the criminal elements surrounding the crooked cops of the Detroit Police Department. Finally, Frank is displaying obsessive behavior towards his sex worker partner Katia, who Joe had said was killed but is really hiding out from Frank. Today's Headlines: Two American hostages held in Gaza were released following an agreement between Hamas and the Qatari government. While Judith Raanan and her daughter Natalie were freed, around 200 hostages remained. Tensions persist in the region, with ongoing military activities, and there are concerns about verifying humanitarian aid deliveries. A group of U.S. Senators visited and met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, reinforcing their support for Israel's actions against Hamas. Back in the US, Samantha Woll, the president of a downtown Detroit synagogue, was tragically found stabbed to death outside her home. The Detroit Police Department, along with the FBI and Michigan State Police, is investigating the case, although a suspect and motive remain unknown. The U.S. House of Representatives still lacks a permanent speaker after three weeks. Nine Republican candidates are vying for the role, with a vote scheduled for Tuesday. This has been termed embarrassing by former Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Two high-profile co-defendants of Donald Trump in the 2020 Georgia election interference case, Sidney Powell and Kenneth Cheseboro, have pleaded guilty. Powell admitted to six counts of conspiracy and agreed to testify and issue an apology, while Cheseboro confessed to one count and will follow the same process. Facial-recognition software is leading to wrongful arrests, but the secrecy around the use of the technology makes it hard to know just how often it happens. So far, there are at least five known cases in which police use of facial-recognition algorithms have led to mistaken-identity arrests in the United States. All five were Black men. Nate Freed Wessler is part of the team representing one of those men in a case against the Detroit Police Department. He’s also a deputy director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Speech, Privacy, and Technology project. Marketplace’s Meghan McCarty Carino spoke with Wessler about facial-recognition technology and why it leads to these outcomes.

Carjackings have been on the rise nationwide, with major cities like Philadelphia, Chicago, DC, and New Orleans all citing a jump in this particular criminal activity over the past two years.  As troubling as the trend is for police departments and civilians across the country; there is increased concern over the fact that statistics show that teenagers are driving the increase in carjackings.  Detroit Police Chief James White joined host Lisa Brady on the Rundown recently to explain the reasons why he believes the number of youth carjackings has been climbing in America and why he feels there needs to be more focus on reducing juvenile crime in general. Chief White discusses police programs that he says work to deter young people from criminal activity, and how his Detroit Police Department has brought down violent crime despite the increase in auto thefts.  Due to time limitations, we could not include all of the conversations in our original segment.
