Diane also changed to a plant based lifestyle so they discuss the health benefits and lifestyle changes they had to make and how much better food tastes when it's not over processed. Sharon has a lot of advice for people who are tempted to make the change but don't know where to start. All the myths surrounding plant based eating can scare people off and make it more difficult to make the change so Sharon addresses these stories. Diane and Sharon examine the best foods to fulfill your protein requirements and the quickest way to create a "go-to" meal from scratch. Sharon is a Registered Dietician with other 25 years experience, she has also written two books about plant based living and writes a daily blog on her website. Sharon is a plant based expert and even went to a meat-free campus college. What you will learn: Moving to a plant based lifestyle can be done in small easy steps Blue zones are places on Earth where people live the longest. Cutting out meat doesn't need to be difficult. Keep a small larder of canned pulses, herbs, nuts and seeds which can be used as a meal base. You don't have to have a recipe for every meal Food prep won't take longer and you can create a meal in less time than getting a takeaway. You will need to plan ahead. Beans, lentils and soy foods are all high in protein. Start by planning a meal around a plant protein, eg lentils Aim for two servings of vegetables per meal. Breakfast can be porridge, peanut butter on toast or wholegrain cereal. Make a week's worth of porridge and reheat small portions. Make sure you get your whole grains in your diet to keep you full.
