The first two weeks after birth have a lot going on… So I'm doing 2 episodes on it. Here you will learn what recovery can look like for both mother and baby. I discuss the wide range of postpartum experiences, the care gap that can exist after birth, and how support from midwives, nurses, GPs, partners, family, friends, and the wider community can help with feeding, recovery, and emotional wellbeing. I'm also going to explain matrescence, the transition into motherhood, and the physical, emotional, and identity changes that can happen after birth. This episode covers practical early postpartum advice, including skin-to-skin contact, feeding, rest, wound healing, bleeding, swelling, afterbirth pains, and what to watch for if there are signs of infection or heavier-than-expected blood loss. I give guidance on the first wee and first poo postpartum, as well as the importance of food, fluids, and support in the early days. The first days can feel intense, but we adjust and things usually become more manageable. Still not feeling like yourself even though your baby is months or years old? You're not imagining it. And you're not failing. In this episode, Nicky Lowe shares her own experience of burnout and exhaustion after her first child - the years it took to get answers, and the moment she finally found the language for what had happened to her. Drawing on the work of Dr. Oscar Serrallach (The Postnatal Depletion Cure), Nicky explores why postnatal depletion can last up to ten years after having a baby, why high-achieving women are so often dismissed when they say something is wrong, and what you can do, starting today, to begin rebuilding. This episode is for new mums navigating the blur of early motherhood, women further into the journey who are still waiting to feel like themselves, and anyone who manages someone returning from parental leave. You'll come away with: A clear understanding of what postnatal depletion actually is and why it's so much more than tiredness Why willpower and mindset alone won't fix this Five practical steps to start supporting your system right now Whether your baby is six weeks old or six years old - this one is for you. In honor of Black Maternal Health Week, host Rachel Keener sits down with chef and storyteller Sophia Roe for a raw, necessary conversation on the systemic neglect of Black mothers. Sophia pulls back the curtain on the "fourth trimester," contrasting the medical system's singular focus on "saving the baby" with the pervasive lack of support for a mother's physical and mental recovery. From the hurdles of finding trusted Black providers and navigating insurance barriers to the realities of postpartum anxiety, she reframes the journey of motherhood as a site for radical self-love and informed advocacy. By rejecting the pressure of perfectionism and embracing the "village", including doulas, midwives, and partners, Sophia encourages Black women to prioritize their own safety and rest, proving that being honest and "a hot mess in public" is its own powerful form of resistance.Take a moment to listen for an unfiltered look at the journey of Black motherhood.More about Sophia Roe:Sophia Roe is a James Beard Award winning chef, writer, founder of Apartment Miso and Emmy-Award nominated TV host known for her distinct focus on honesty, diversity and inclusivity. Her passion for food has always been connected to an understanding that some people have access to nutritious foods, while others simply and problematically do not. This duality is the foundation for Sophia's work: celebrating the beauty and art within her cooking, while creating resources to advance food justice, building more sustainable and equitable systems, while combatting the systemic structures that leave so many without the resources they so desperately require.–The Unfolding: Presented by The Loveland Foundation podcast is an additional resource not only to the public but also to our therapy fund cohort members. The fourth trimester is real, and it's intense. In this episode of MamaDoc BabyDoc we dive into what life actually looks like in those first twelve weeks after delivery, whether you've had a vaginal birth or a cesarean section. We talk honestly about what your body is going through; bleeding, cramping, healing, and what recovery should (and shouldn't) feel like. We also cover the emotional side; mood swings, identity shifts, and postpartum mental health; because taking care of mom is just as important as caring for baby. On the baby side, we break down what's normal in those early weeks; feeding (including breastfeeding challenges), sleep patterns (or lack thereof), weight changes and key developmental milestones. Most importantly, we walk you through warning signs you should never ignore, like heavy bleeding, high blood pressure symptoms, headaches, or signs of blood clots, so you know when something may be more serious and require urgent care. Whether you're preparing for postpartum life or currently in the thick of it, this episode is your guide to navigating the fourth trimester with confidence and support.
Send a textSince last week's episode was released, I've received so many messages from listeners asking for more information about the fourth trimester and postpartum planning that I decided to record this extra episode to explore these topics in more depth. The weeks after birth are often overlooked in birth preparation, yet they represent one of the most significant transitions for both mother and baby. In this episode, I talk about the biological realities of the fourth trimester, why newborn behaviour often makes perfect sense when we understand human development, and why planning for postpartum can make such a difference to recovery and wellbeing.I also explore how cultural expectations in modern Western society can sometimes clash with biology, particularly when it comes to rest, recovery, and the close contact that newborn babies instinctively seek.During the episode, I walk through a practical framework for a postpartum planning conversation. If you are preparing for birth, this is something I encourage you to discuss with your partner or support network before the baby arrives. Taking time to think about support, rest, feeding, emotional wellbeing, and household responsibilities can help protect the early weeks and reduce unnecessary stress.I also explain why postpartum rest is not simply a luxury, but an important part of physical recovery. Giving the body time to heal after pregnancy and birth supports long-term health, including pelvic floor recovery and overall wellbeing. The fourth trimester matters. When we understand the biology behind newborn behaviour and maternal recovery, we can approach this period with more realistic expectations and greater compassion for ourselves and our babies.Episode 172 - Relationship Circles - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-ultimate-guide-to-being-a-birth-partner/id1541228817?i=1000752253453Episode 149 - Postpartum Prolapse - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-ultimate-guide-to-being-a-birth-partner/id1541228817?i=1000706091689 If you love the podcast and would like to support it, then please use the link to 'buy me a coffee' - https://bmc.link/sallyannberesfordIf you would like to buy a copy of either of the books that accompany this podcast please go to your online bookseller or visit Amazon:-Labour of Love - The Ultimate Guide to Being a Birth Partner - click here:-https://bit.ly/LabourofloveThe Art of Giving Birth - Five Key Physiological Principles - https://amzn.to/3EGh9dfPregnancy Journal for 'The Art of Giving Birth' - Black and White version https://amzn.to/3CvJXmOPregnancy Journal for 'The Art of Giving Birth'- Colour version https://amzn.to/3GknbPFYou can find all my classes and courses on my website - www.sallyannberesford.co.uk Follow me on Instagram @theultimatebirthpartner Book a 1-2-1 session with Sallyann - https://linktr.ee/SallyannBeresford Please remember that the information shared with you in this episode is solely based on my own personal experiences as a doula and the private opinions of my guests, based on their own experiences. "Don't live your life based in fear. Be courageous." (Erica Komisar) What if the deepest struggles we face as adults: anxiety, addiction, emotional emptiness, the constant need to prove ourselves, don't begin in adulthood at all? What if they begin in the earliest, most fragile years of life… when presence matters more than anything else? In this powerful episode of SoulTalk, I sit down with renowned psychoanalyst and parenting expert Erica Komisar for a conversation that challenges many of the assumptions we've been taught about success, independence, and what it truly means to raise emotionally healthy children. At the heart of this conversation is one radical and deeply confronting idea: human beings are born neurologically unfinished and the first three years of life are not optional when it comes to emotional development. Erica explains why a mother's physical presence acts as a child's external nervous system, how early emotional absence creates a quiet but lasting void, and why so many adults spend their lives unconsciously trying to fill it. We explore the differences between maternal and paternal roles, and the biological intelligence behind nurturing and play. Erica also speaks candidly about the cost of modern pressures, professional ego, and cultural narratives that undervalue caregiving, and how these forces have reshaped families in ways we are only now beginning to understand. Whether you are a parent, planning to become one, healing your own childhood, or simply curious about the roots of emotional well-being, this conversation will impact you. Timestamps (00:01:50) – Erica explains why mothers and fathers should not compete to perform the same tasks. (00:03:53) – An exploration of the concept that human infants are born nine months "too early" in terms of neurological fragility and require total vulnerability. .(00:05:32) - How a mother's physical presence regulates a baby's heartbeat, breathing, and emotional regulation. (00:07:43) - Why a child first sees and understands themselves by looking into the mother's eyes. (00:09:37) - Understanding the biological drivers behind maternal nurturing. (00:11:14) - How fathers use physical play to teach children how to regulate high levels of excitement and aggression. (00:17:04) - Erica challenges the modern notion that a parent can be "emotionally present" during the first three years without being physically present. (00:19:32) - A discussion on how early emotional absence creates a vacuum that adults often try to fill with technology, drugs, or eating disorders. (00:21:26) - A courageous look at whether the "need" to work is driven by survival or by ego gratification and the desire for materialism. (00:26:00) - Encouraging mothers to let go of professional ego and consider a "mommy track" to prioritize the critical early years of their children. (00:30:03) - How the feminist movement's dismissal of caretaking as "unproductive" disrupted family structures and impacted the development of young men. (00:34:01) - Insights from Erica's new book on how to avoid treating children as "possessions" or "weapons" during a separation. (00:39:15) – Three Wisdoms for Life: Erica shares her ultimate lessons: prioritize relationships, value interdependence over independence, and live a life driven by courage rather than fear. In this episode, you'll discover: Why the first three years of life are foundational to emotional regulation and mental health. How a parent's physical presence shapes a child's sense of safety, identity, and self-worth. Why emotional absence often shows up later as addiction, workaholism, or disconnection. The biological differences between maternal nurturing and paternal play and why both matter. A courageous reexamination of work, ego, and the fear of "falling behind". How to protect a child's emotional health during separation or divorce. Why interdependence, not hyper-independence, is the key to resilient human beings. Questions I Ask What is the "Fourth Trimester" and why are we born nine months too early? Is parenting a competition or a team exercise? Can you really be "emotionally present" if you are physically absent? What is the true origin of our "voids" and addictions? When we say we "have to work," is it for survival or for the ego? How do we stop weaponizing our children during a divorce? Should we be raising our children for independence or interdependence? How do we heal the "Mother Hunger"? Welcome back everyone, I'm your host Aisling Keenan and you're listening to Everymum the podcast. We're deep into season 18 now which is wild. This episode was a treat for me to record because the guest is a good friend of mine, the lovely Pamela Laird came on to chat to me about how she's finding motherhood so far with her three month old daughter. One of the things we chat about is how Pam has managed to stay feeling like 'herself' through pregnancy and motherhood, and while obviously things are really different from pre-baby, she says she still feels like who she always was. That really struck me as unique, because I know I didn't feel that way and so many mothers I know don't, so it was really refreshing to hear. I loved hearing a really positive parenting story too, because so often we find issues and I know I can focus on the negatives too sometimes. Enjoy this episode, enjoy hearing Pam's daughter's super gorgeous and very unique name, and I'll be back soon with more. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Postpartum is not just a recovery phase, it is one of the biggest full body transitions a woman will ever go through. In this episode, Dr. Taz breaks down what actually happens in the fourth trimester, from the steep drop in estrogen and progesterone to fluid shifts, tissue dryness, gut slowdown, metabolic changes, and the mental and emotional load that can follow. You will learn why so many women feel unprepared after birth, why the six week bounce back expectation is unrealistic, and how older systems like Chinese medicine and Ayurveda approached postpartum as a sacred 40 to 100 day window of restoration.Dr. Taz shares: • Why postpartum can feel so destabilizing: the hormone crash, nervous system strain, and energy depletion most women are never taught about • The hidden physical shifts after delivery, including swelling and fluid volume changes that can take months to fully regulate • Why skin, hair, and vaginal dryness are common postpartum, and how this can affect libido, confidence, and self perception • How breastfeeding changes hormones, including oxytocin's calming effect and its relationship with cortisol and mood • Why weight loss varies dramatically postpartum, and how insulin sensitivity, blood sugar history, PCOS, and metabolic factors change the timeline • The gut changes no one talks about: slower motility, constipation, reflux, and why progesterone shifts play a role • The fourth trimester frameworks from Chinese medicine and Ayurveda: rest, warming foods, nourishment, massage, acupuncture, herbs, and community care • A modern 100 day postpartum plan that starts in the third trimester with nutrient optimization, thyroid and blood sugar support, gut health, and a real support circleWhether you are newly postpartum, preparing for birth, or supporting someone in those early months, this episode gives you a clear, practical roadmap to protect energy, reduce depletion, and recover in a way that helps you feel like yourself again.Stay Connected:Connect further to Hol+ at https://holplus.co/- Don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit the notification bell to stay updated on future episodes of hol+.Follow Dr. Taz on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drtazmd/https://www.instagram.com/liveholplus/Subscribe to the audio podcast: https://holplus.transistor.fm/subscribeSubscribe to the video podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@DrTazMD/podcastsGet your copy of The Hormone Shift: Balance Your Body and Thrive Through Midlife and MenopauseHost & Production TeamHost: Dr. Taz; Produced by ClipGrowth.com (Producer: Pat Gostek)

Send us a textIn this final episode of the year, I'm talking about something I see all the time in my work — but something women rarely feel able to admit out loud: that the desperate longing for a baby doesn't always match how they feel once they are actually here. After more than two decades supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and those early vulnerable weeks, I've heard this story in so many different forms. Today, I'm sharing the experience of a mum I met at a recent coffee morning — Emma — who gave me permission to talk about her journey.Emma had two miscarriages before this pregnancy. She spent months just trying to get to the birth, believing that once her baby was safely here, everything would fall into place. But her birth ended up being long, heavily managed, and exhausting, leaving her feeling out of control. She also struggled with the after-effects of the pain relief she received. And when she finally held her baby, she didn't feel the rush of emotion she'd imagined. Her question to me — quiet, honest, and full of guilt — forms the heart of this episode.Together, we unpack why so many women feel this way, why these feelings don't mean anything is wrong, and how the emotional transition into motherhood is far more complex than most people prepare you for.If you love the podcast and would like to support it, then please use the link to 'buy me a coffee' - https://bmc.link/sallyannberesfordIf you would like to buy a copy of either of the books that accompany this podcast please go to your online bookseller or visit Amazon:-Labour of Love - The Ultimate Guide to Being a Birth Partner - click here:-https://bit.ly/LabourofloveThe Art of Giving Birth - Five Key Physiological Principles - https://amzn.to/3EGh9dfPregnancy Journal for 'The Art of Giving Birth' - Black and White version https://amzn.to/3CvJXmOPregnancy Journal for 'The Art of Giving Birth'- Colour version https://amzn.to/3GknbPFYou can find all my classes and courses on my website - www.sallyannberesford.co.uk Follow me on Instagram @theultimatebirthpartner Book a 1-2-1 session with Sallyann - https://linktr.ee/SallyannBeresford Please remember that the information shared with you in this episode is solely based on my own personal experiences as a doula and the private opinions of my guests, based on their own experiences. In this episode of The Hypnobirthing Podcast, I'm joined by Hanna, co-founder of Life Postpartum, a holistic recovery platform created to support women through the often-overlooked postpartum period. After experiencing her own challenges and feelings of uncertainty after birth, Hanna was inspired to build an accessible and affordable space where new mums can find the care and guidance they need. We chat about why postpartum recovery deserves just as much focus as birth preparation, and explore the physical, emotional, and nutritional sides of healing after birth. Hanna shares how Life Postpartum connects women with trusted experts and resources, and we talk about the importance of self-care, support, and community during the fourth trimester. If you're pregnant or recently postpartum, this episode is full of practical insight and gentle encouragement to help you approach recovery with confidence and compassion; and a reminder that you don't have to do it all on your own. Send us a textWhat if the very foundation of modern care—science alone—is the problem? You see the stats: mothers are drowning in postpartum depression, crippling anxiety, and mysterious autoimmune flare-ups. You're doing the screenings, you're following the standard protocols, but the lasting solutions are elusive. What if the very foundation of modern care—science alone—is the problem? Maranda dives into the six critical limitations of medical science that are actively harming mothers in the fourth trimester. This isn't anti-science; it's a call for a more honest, holistic postpartum health model. This episode exposes the six critical limitations of medical care actively harming the fourth trimester. We break down why relying on RCTs ignores millennia of successful traditional postpartum practices. Discover the Three Pillars of Knowledge for root-cause resolution in perinatal mental health and move beyond symptom managementCheck out the episode on the blog HERE: https://postpartumu.com/podcast/the-6-critical-blind-spots-of-science-that-are-harming-postpartum-moms-ep-242/Key time stamps: 04:15: Miranda's personal story: Dismissed with Zoloft, actually had thyroid dysfunction, gut infection, and severe nutrient deficiencies.09:05: The Three Pillars of Postpartum Knowledge: Science, Women's Stories, and Traditional Practices.11:47: Limitation #1: Science is money-driven and prioritizes patentable solutions over holistic postpartum practices.16:30: Limitation #3: Dismissing millennia of traditional care (like warm, cooked foods) as mere anecdotal evidence.21:20: Limitation #4: Doctors are taught pathology, not how the body actually heals, leading to a focus on pieces instead of the whole.26:38: Limitation #5: The male bias in research and leadership and why women were historically excluded from clinical trials.31:45: Limitation #6: Time lag in policy change—it takes 10-15 years for new evidence to become standard practice.34:23: Clinical Example: Client with "medication-resistant PPD" actually had Hashimoto's and severe B12/Ferritin deficiency.36:50: Call to Action: Believe your client, investigate beyond basic labs, and hold providers accountable for outdated care.40:17: Final thought: Science alone is not enough; we need all three pillars for comprehensive, root-cause postpartum support. “No one tells you how much of yourself you'll lose and find again in the months after birth — in the hair on the floor, the ache in your neck, the silence between feedings, and the friends who make you feel human again.”From hair loss and neck pain to postpartum migraines, mom friendships, and even the truth about baby formula — this episode dives into the unfiltered realities of the fourth trimester that most moms never hear about. We'll talk about the why behind what's happening in your body: the hormone shifts that cause hair to shed, the neck and shoulder pain that comes from feeding posture, and why migraines often return with your first period. You'll learn how nutrition, supplements, chiropractic care, acupuncture, and movement can help you feel grounded again in your changing body. We'll also go deeper — into the emotional side of postpartum healing. Finding mom friends who truly get it, giving yourself permission to rest, and remembering that your health matters as much as your baby's. And for those navigating feeding decisions, we'll explore the differences between European and U.S. formulas (like Kendamil) so you can make confident, informed choices. This episode is for every mother standing in that in-between space — healing, adjusting, rediscovering herself. It's honest, nurturing, and full of real solutions for the season no one really prepares you for.
Revolutionizing the Fourth Trimester - IYKYKA quiet revolution can start with tea, a newborn on a chest, and a doctor who sits on the edge of your bed and actually listens. That scene—simple, human, and overdue—is how Dr. Michelle Haggerty rebuilt postpartum care from the ground up after her own losses and years inside a system that treats the fourth trimester like an afterthought. We go deep on matrescence, the often-ignored transformation into motherhood that begins long before birth and reshapes identity, hormones, work, money, and relationships. Michelle shares how fetal cells can remain in a mother's body, why that matters for grief and belonging, and how narrative medicine—structured birth-story debriefs with both partners—can dissolve trauma before it hardens. Then we zoom out to the hard numbers: the U.S. leads developed nations in maternal mortality, 65 percent of deaths happen postpartum, and 85 percent are preventable. Mental health tops the list, while cardiovascular risks hit communities of color hardest. Ten-minute visits miss what home-based care can catch. You'll hear how Michelle left corporate medicine to build Fourth Trimester Doc, where physicians do home visits, answer texts, reduce ER trips, and coordinate lactation, mental health, and pediatric support. We explore direct primary care pediatrics, tiny patient panels, and a bold plan to make postpartum support an employer-paid benefit with onsite groups and well-child checks. Scaling without losing soul means facing the insurance maze, gathering outcomes data, and learning the art of marketing so families can actually find help.Threaded through it all is trust—faith in intuition, in the “baby” of a new business, and in the power of Ikigai, that sweet overlap of passion, skill, need, and income that turns work into energy. Across the globe, families welcome newborns with sacred traditions—such as baptism, christening, naming ceremonies, or rituals of blessing—that honor both the child and the family's spiritual journey. At the same time, more than 2 million babies are stillborn each year worldwide, a heartbreaking reality that leaves lasting emotional and spiritual impacts on families. These moments of joy and grief underscore the deep role spirituality plays in the postpartum experience. Rana Jawish, MD, assistant professor of psychiatry and faculty lead for the Stillbirth Center of Excellence, joins Kirtly Jones, MD, in the spiritual domain of the fourth trimester. They discuss the role of faith and culture in welcoming newborns, and how compassionate care can provide meaning and healing for families navigating profound loss in the fourth trimester.
Only one in four infants in the U.S. is exclusively breastfed for the first six months, despite strong evidence linking breastfeeding to better health outcomes for both mother and baby. Success often depends less on individual determination and more on the environments that shape a mother's daily life—home, workplace, and community. Lactation specialist Anna Burch, RN, joins Kirtly Jones, MD, and Katie Ward, DNP, in the environmental domain of the fourth trimester to explore how surroundings influence postpartum experiences. The conversation examines what makes an ideal feeding environment at home, the impact of workplace and public space accommodations, and how stressors such as noise, lighting, and privacy can affect milk production. They also discuss the social and cultural pressures that shape breastfeeding journeys, the role of family and community support, and the policies that could create more equitable environments for new parents.
No one told me that postpartum recovery isn't just about “getting back to normal.” It's about rebuilding from the inside out, pelvic floor, core, energy, mindset, and that what you do (and don't do) in those early days matters more than you think. That's why I brought Dr. Jessica London, pelvic floor therapist and mama's best friend in recovery, on the podcast to walk you through exactly what's happening in your body and how to move forward, without overdoing it. (And she was kind enough to share her Core Recovery Guide with our community!) Postpartum healing is deeply connected to how you move, rest, and nourish yourself right now. Pushing too hard can set you back, but intentional movement, pelvic floor awareness, and smart recovery practices can actually make you stronger than before. Whether you're 2 days, 2 months, or 2 years postpartum, this episode gives you a roadmap for recovery that lasts.Show Notes Here!Where to Find Jessica: Instagram Website PodcastLinks Mentioned:Episode #275 - Pelvic Floor 101: What Every New Mom Needs to Know with Dr. Jessica LondonThe Core Recovery Guide My Essential Birth CourseMy Essential Birth Postpartum CourseMy Essential Birth InstagramGET IN TOUCH!

Childcare for an infant in the U.S. averages over $11,000 a year—more than triple the federal benchmark for affordability. For many new parents, the financial strain of the fourth trimester starts before the baby arrives and can extend for years. In the financial domain of the fourth trimester, Kirtly Jones, MD, and Katie Ward, DNP, unpack the expenses of welcoming a newborn—from unpaid leave and rising childcare costs to hidden medical bills and the long-term impact on career and retirement savings. The conversation examines disparities in access to resources, the role of social safety nets, and practical ways families can prepare and adapt.
More than 80% of new mothers report changes in memory and attention during the postpartum period—often referred to as “mom brain.” On top of that, the average new parent manages over 100 daily tasks related to their baby's care, contributing to what researchers call the “maternal mental load.” In the intellectual domain of the fourth trimester, Kirtly Jones, MD, and Katie Ward, DNP, explore how new parents cognitively adapt after childbirth. Perinatal mental health specialist Jamie Hales joins the conversation to unpack the neurological and intellectual shifts that shape early parenthood. From navigating the cognitive overload of caregiving to reshaping personal identity, the discussion offers insight into how people make meaning of their birth experiences and mentally transition into their new roles.

She found her way to birth work after becoming a mother herself. Natasha works in both private practice and through the AAIMM Doula program, supporting birthing people across Los Angeles County. Her work focuses on reproductive justice, informed care, and the need for strong support before, during, and after birth—especially in response to the disparities that impact BIPOC and Black maternal health. She believes our perinatal care system must evolve to fully honor the mind, body, and spirit of those bringing new life into the world.Moon Studio workshop reminder:June 29th: The Constellation of the 9's: The Hermit, The Moon, & the 9's: https://moon-studio.co/products/the-constellation-of-the-9s-the-hermit-the-moon-the-9sJoin the Moon Studio community:Join the Moon Studio Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/themoonstudioBuy the 2025 Many Moons Lunar Planner: https://moon-studio.co/collections/all-products-excluding-route/products/many-moons-2025Subscribe to our newsletter: https://moon-studio.co/pages/newsletterFind Sarah on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gottesss/ Learn more about Natasha June:https://www.rarebreedhealer.com/IG: @rarebreedhealermama@rarebreedhealer.com Book mentioned in this episode:The Fourth Trimester by Kimberly Ann Johnson — kimberlyannjohnson.com/the-fourth-trimester
Your baby's birth marks the beginning of a significant transition, not just for your newborn, but for you. The early postpartum weeks are often referred to as the fourth trimester, and while it is common to focus on preparing for birth, it is equally important to prepare for what comes after. Recovery can take longer than expected, and adjusting to life with a newborn brings emotional and physical challenges. In this episode, I will walk you through how to prepare for a smoother postpartum experience. We will cover how to set yourself up for rest, healing, and support so that your recovery is more comfortable and manageable. Your body needs time to recover from nine months of pregnancy, labor, and the early demands of breastfeeding and caring for a newborn. Many postpartum changes are entirely normal, yet they are rarely discussed. In this episode, let's change that. I will walk you through what to expect physically and emotionally in the weeks after birth, so you are not caught off guard.
