Pastor Marc Sharp continues today with Part 7 of our series on the books of Thessalonians, written by the apostle Paul to the believers at Thessalonica. There is nothing more discouraging to a believer than to watch someone they love as their faith fails. Paul had much joy when he heard that the Thessalonians were pressing forward in Christ, despite tribulation and persecution. He assures them that even he is not exempt from anything they are suffering, but that they are in this thing together. There is much to be said about laboring and suffering together, in some form of community. Jesus planned a faithful community, confessing the same central truths, but with different strengths and weaknesses so that we would help each other in 1,000 different ways. This is one of the great benefits of church life!

Live United - Disconnected body parts are gross. Paul tells us that the Church is one body, made of many parts. There is a beautiful symmetry when we work together and partner. The body needs all of its parts to be at maximum efficiency – and those parts have purpose and accomplish more when connected to one another. Here at Celebration Center we recognize that we do the most good, and fulfill the mission of the Church when we “Live United”.
“Fear and love are enemies. They come from two opposing kingdoms. Fear comes from the devil, who would like nothing more than to keep you permanently disconnected and isolated. But love comes from God who is always working to heal and restore your connection with Him and other people, and bring you into healthy, live-giving relationships” (Danny Silk).

(Within the first few moments of the message, Pastor Andrew will refer to a video. To hear it go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgRoiTWkBHU.) You become like the people you are closest to so choose your friends wisely. “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs 13:20 “The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.” Proverbs 12:26 Life is hard; you need the strength that only good friends can provide. “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
