Talleres de Otoño con Rafa Irusta QUÉ ES UN FILTRO POLARIZADOR Y CÓMO USARLO EN FOTOGRAFÍA DE PAISAJE Un filtro polarizador es una de las herramientas esenciales para Fotografía de Paisaje. Es el primer filtro que recomiendo para paisajes porque nos permite mejorar las imágenes al añadir intensidad y contraste. Este filtro fotográfico se coloca frente al objetivo para reducir reflejos, reducir la neblina atmosférica y aumentar la saturación de los colores. Filtro polarizador circular CPL Normalmente son de rosca aunque también pueden ser de forma cuadrada, con el inconveniente de que no se recomienda girarlos al colocarlos en el portafiltros (en el caso de que tengamos puesto un filtro degradado). Cómo funcionan los filtros polarizadores Dependiendo del clima, la atmósfera puede variar en cuanto a sus características y composición, aunque mayoritariamente está formada por vapor de agua. Este vapor de agua provoca la formación de neblina que disminuye la visibilidad, sobre todo a largas distancias y este efecto se produce de forma mucho más evidente cuando estamos cerca del agua, por ejemplo en la costa, cerca de un embalse, etc. Para eliminar esta neblina es recomendable utilizar un filtro polarizador. El uso de un filtro polarizador añade más saturación de los colores, reduce los reflejos del agua, cristal, hojas y otras superficies no metálicas. También nos ayuda a potenciar el cielo azul de tus imágenes. El efecto de polarización puede variar dependiendo de la posición del sol, por lo que es importante tener en cuenta el momento del día y la época del año en la que estemos fotografiando. POLARIZADOR EN FOTOGRAFÍA DE PAISAJE La luz del sol rebota en los objetos que vamos a fotografiar y puede producir brillos o reflejos. Para evitarlos, colocamos el filtro polarizador en el frontal del objetivo y debemos girarlo para conseguir el efecto deseado. El filtro es capaz de eliminar la luz reflejada en una escena, mejorando el resultado final de las imágenes al aumentar el contraste y la saturación de los colores. También puede ayudarnos a eliminar la neblina a la hora de fotografiar escenas con objetos lejanos. El efecto de saturación de un filtro polarizador y la eliminación de la neblina se puede simular en el postprocesado de los archivos, pero no podemos replicar la reducción de los brillos y reflejos. MÁXIMA POLARIZACIÓN Conseguiremos el máximo nivel de polarización situándonos a 90 grados del sol. Un truco simple es formar una pistola con los dedos índice y pulgar, luego apuntar con el dedo índice directamente hacia el sol. Gira el pulgar en el sentido de las agujas del reloj o en el sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj (mientras mantienes el dedo índice dirigido al sol). Las partes del cielo hacia las que apunta el pulgar tendrán el grado máximo de polarización, ya que están en ángulo recto con el sol. Esto significa que cuando el sol está directamente sobre nuestras cabezas cerca del cénit, el cielo se polarizará horizontalmente, haciendo que el cielo parezca más o menos uniforme en todas las direcciones. Por otro lado, cuando el sol está más cerca del horizonte, al amanecer y al atardecer, el cielo se polarizará principalmente en franjas verticales, sin llegar a conseguir el efecto en todo el cielo de manera uniforme. He is an Emmy-nominated Director, 3 time Telly-Award Winner, National Geographic Photographer & marine conservationist whose imagery is helping tell the story of our rapidly changing planet. In 2013 his work alongside Pristine Seas was awarded the Crystal Compass Award from the Royal Geographic Society for the storytelling that led to the designation of the world largest Arctic National Park in Franz Josef Land, Russia. In 2015 Andy directed the first Oceano Azul Foundation expedition to Azores leading to the declaration of 150,000 square kilometers of new Marine Protected Areas in the Azorean Sea. In 2017 he co-directed the award-winning National Geographic / Sea Legacy expedition to Antarctica, presenting the final work at the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting in Buenos Aires, Chile. Often best known for his shark work, Andy has worked tirelessly with the critically endangered oceanic whitetip shark, creating Google Expedition's first shark-tagging 360 VR classroom lesson plan and is working closely with NOAA on the recovery plan for the species. In 2019 he began his most ambitious project yet, the protection of Timor Leste's pristine coral reefs. Andy became a founding member of the Sea Legacy Collective in 2016 and Senior Fellow in 2019. Episode 9 Keith Ladzinski Keith Ladzinski is a ROAM Founding Member and long-time friend and collaborator of co-host Cory Richards. His work as a contributing photographer at National Geographic is well-known and acknowledged by his peers as being technically masterful with a unique ability to convey emotion. He broke into photography with skateboarding in the city while simultaneously exploring the quiet mountains of Colorado. Both passions informed his work. Little did he know his passion for taking pictures would lead to a position as part of National Geographic's legendary stable of creatives and make him one of the faces of Nikon cameras.
