The custom among Sepharadim is to recite immediately following the section of Akedat Yishak a verse from Parashat Vayikra (1:11): "Ve'shahat Oto Al Yerech Ha'mizbe'ah Safona Lifneh Hashem…" This verse describes the procedure for the offering of a sheep as an Ola sacrifice – such as the daily Tamid offering, which consisted of a sheep brought each morning and another sheep brought each afternoon. The connection between this verse and the story of Akedat Yishak is indicated by the Midrash which states that whenever this verse is read, Hashem remembers the great merit of the Akeda. A different passage in the Midrash, cited by the Bet Yosef, teaches that it was at the time of Akedat Yishak that G-d instituted the Misva of the daily Tamid that would later be observed in the Bet Ha'mikdash. The word "Safona" in this verse – which literally means "north," and requires slaughtering the sacrifice on the north side of the altar – alludes to the "ashes" of Yishak Abinu which are "hidden" and stored away as an eternal reminder of the merit of Akeidat Yishak. After this verse, we recite a special prayer – which is printed in standard editions of the Siddur – beseeching Hashem to remember the merit of Akedat Yishak and compassionately annul any harsh decrees that may have been issued against us. This custom is mentioned by the Hida (Rav Haim Yosef David Azulai, 1724-1806), in his work Kesher Godel. Interestingly, neither the verse "Ve'shahat Oto" nor this prayer appears in the Siddur of the Rashash (Rav Shalom Sharabi, Yemen-Jerusalem, 1720-1777). Nevertheless, the Ben Ish Hai (Rav Yosef Haim of Baghdad, 1833-1909) writes in his Od Yosef Hai that it was customary in the communities of Baghdad to recite these passages, and this is, indeed, our custom today. We recite the verse "Ve'shahat Oto" also a second time – just before the section of "Ezehu Mekoman," which is comprised of the Mishnayot from the fifth chapter of Masechet Zebahim, and goes through the procedure for the offering of the various kinds of sacrifices. The Shulhan Aruch rules somewhat ambiguously that this verse should be recited along with the Korbanot – the section which speaks of the sacrifices – without specifying at which point exactly it should be recited. Some Poskim understood that it should be recited before the Korbanot section, which is the custom we follow. Indeed, it would seem reasonable to recite first a verse from the Torah before reciting the Mishnayot discussing the sacrifices. (Incidentally, it should be noted that the practice of Maran, author of the Shulhan Aruch, was not to recite the Mishnayot of "Eizehu Mekoman," and to recite instead the verses from the Torah dealing with each kind of sacrifice.) By contrast, the Peri Megadim (Rav Yosef Teomim, 1727-1792), cited by the Mishna Berura, writes that after the Akeda, one should recite the verses of the Torah discussing the Tamid sacrifice, following by the verse "Ve'shahat Oto." The rationale for reciting it only after the Tamid is that the recitation of this verse is considered like the actual offering of a sacrifice, and no sacrifice may be offered in the morning before the Tamid was brought. Hence, according to the Peri Megadim, this verse cannot be recited until after the recitation of the Tamid. This is the practice of the Ashkenazim. Sepharadim, however, as mentioned, recite this verse immediately after Akedat Yishak, before reciting the section of the Tamid. The explanation might be that this verse is recited not in lieu of the offering of a sacrifice, but rather to supplement the recitation of Akedat Yishak, asking Hashem to remember the merit of that act of sacrifice. In any event, we recite this verse twice – immediately after Akedat Yishak, and just before the Mishnayot of "Eizehu Mekoman."

This episode started with a client question — "what's a tripwire?" — that turned into a full breakdown of every low-ticket funnel term the marketing world uses (and misuses). I walk through the difference between a tripwire, which is a low-ticket offer sitting on the thank-you page of your free opt-in, and an LTO, or low-ticket offer, which is that same product when you run traffic directly to it as the first page of a funnel. These aren't the same thing — and confusing them is why so many people declare their offer is broken when it's actually performing completely normally. A 1% conversion rate on a tripwire? Standard. The same offer converting at 3% as a direct-to-ad LTO? Also normal — because Facebook is training itself to find buyers instead of email-givers, and that's a different person. I also cover why you cannot run an LTO without an order bump and at least one OTO, what makes a one-time offer actually a one-time offer (hint: it doesn't have a credit card form), and what Kathy and I call a Paid Lead Maker — the structure that, when built right, can break even or turn a small profit on your ad spend. Gdybyśmy tydzień temu dowiedzieli się, że prezydent Karol Nawrocki przyjmie ślubowanie od świeżo wybranych sędziów Trybunału Konstytucyjnego, to bylibyśmy wstrząśnięci i zmieszani jednocześnie. No bo przecież nie jest tajemnicą, że Pałac Prezydencki do spółki z Prawem i Sprawiedliwością od tygodni szukali pretekstu, żeby zablokować wejście do sądu konstytucyjnego nominatów obecnej większości sejmowej. Ba, pisowcy zdecydowali się na ruch tak kuriozalny, że aż moglibyśmy powiedzieć o nim "zabawny", gdyby sprawa nie dotyczyła rzeczy śmiertelnie poważnej. Złożyli oni mianowicie skargę do TK na… własną ustawę sprzed dekady, która m.in. wskazywała, że to Regulamin Sejmu zawiera instrukcję wyboru sędziów Trybunału Konstytucyjnego. Przez dziesięć lat można było więc — według PiS — wybierać ich zgodnie z ustawą, ale jak się zmieniła władza, to politycy Prawa i Sprawiedliwości stwierdzili, że to jednak niefajnie. Skarżący argumentowali również, że do czasu rozpoznania skargi, prezydent powinien się wstrzymać z przyjęciem ślubowania od nowych sędziów. Przypomnijmy: niedawno Sejm wybrał łącznie sześcioro sędziów. Oto oni: sędzia i przewodniczący komisji kodyfikacyjnej ustroju sądownictwa i prokuratury przy Ministerstwie Sprawiedliwości Krystian Markiewicz, dr hab. nauk prawnych, prof. w Instytucie Nauk Prawnych PAN Maciej Taborowski, dr hab. nauk prawnych, prof. w Katedrze Postępowania Cywilnego na Wydziale Prawa i Administracji Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego Marcin Dziurda oraz sędzia, dotąd prezes Sądu Okręgowego w Opolu Anna Korwin-Piotrowska, mec. Magdalena Bentkowska i prof. Dariusz Szostek z Uniwersytetu Śląskiego. Prezydent zwlekał ponad dwa tygodnie. Przez media w tym czasie toczyła się dyskusja na temat tego, co się stanie, jeśli Karol Nawrocki nie zaprosi do Pałacu nikogo. Festiwal propozycji trwał w najlepsze. Pojawiały się sugestie, że może sędziowie powinni udać się do notariusza i tak złożone ślubowanie przesłać prezydentowi. A może to marszałek Sejmu powinien wysłuchać ślubowania i odpowiednie dokumenty dostarczyć do siedziby głowy państwa? Tymczasem prezydent Nawrocki postanowił ślubowanie przyjąć, ale tylko od dwójki: mec. Magdaleny Bentkowskiej i prof. Dariusza Szostka. Głowa państwa ewidentnie gra na podział sześcioosobowej grupy, bo o zaprzysiężeniu pozostałej czwórki nic nie słychać. Szef prezydenckiej kancelarii Zbigniew Bogucki twierdzi, że sprawa jest analizowana. Ale my w Stanie Wyjątkowym domyślamy się, że ta analiza może potrwać do końca kadencji Sejmu. Sędziowie Dariusz Szostek i Magdalena Bentkowska nie stawili się na razie w Trybunale Konstytucyjnym po ślubowaniu w Pałacu Prezydenckim. Prof. Szostek po wyjściu z siedziby głowy państwa mówił, że stanie się to po świętach. Nie jest to jednak takie pewne. Jak się dowiadujemy, w Warszawie — w dniu ślubowania — przebywała cała szóstka wybranych niedawno przez Sejm sędziów sądu konstytucyjnego. Jak wynika z naszych rozmów z przedstawicielami obozu władzy, rządzący uznawali przyjęcie ślubowania jedynie od części sędziów za najbardziej prawdopodobne rozwiązanie. Chodziło o to, by próbować odsunąć od prezydenta zarzuty o to, że brutalnie łamie konstytucję i całkowicie ignoruje wybór Sejmu, co jest wyłącznym uprawnieniem izby niższej parlamentu. W Kancelarii Prezydenta wymyślono więc, że ślubowanie zostanie przyjęte od dwójki sędziów, co pozwoli na to, by w TK było 11 osób. Minister Zbigniew Bogucki przekonywał, że w ten sposób — zgodnie z ustawą o Trybunale — sąd konstytucyjny będzie miał tzw. pełny skład. Co ciekawe, TK pod kierownictwem Bogdana Święczkowskiego w zeszłym roku uznał, że ten przepis jest niekonstytucyjny, a pełen skład to po prostu liczba sędziów zdolna w danym momencie do orzekania. Jak słyszymy, nie ma jeszcze decyzji dotyczącej dalszych kroków rządzących. Nie jest jasne, czy dwoje sędziów, którzy zjawili się w Pałacu Prezydenckim, rzeczywiście w ciągu najbliższych dni uda się do siedziby TK, by podjąć obowiązki. Możliwe, że będą chcieli poczekać na pozostałą czwórkę, ale tej grupki Karol Nawrocki do siebie raczej nie zaprosi. W rządzie słychać o różnych opcjach, w tym "twardych". Zwolennikiem tego typu rozwiązań ma być minister sprawiedliwości Waldemar Żurek, choć nie jest jasne, o co może chodzić. W tym wydaniu Stanu Wyjątkowego Kamil Dziubka i Dominika Długosz zastanawiają się również, czy Mateusz Morawiecki odejdzie z PiS, bo w mijającym tygodniu spotkał się na debacie z Władysławem Kosiniakiem-Kamyszem. Chemii między panami nie było, ale było jedno - sygnał dla Jarosława Kaczyńskiego, że były premier nie jest skazany na trwanie w PiS.  Twórcy programu odpowiedzą też m.in. na pytanie, czy Jarosław Kaczyński zacznie wyrzucać ludzi z partii, żeby siłą wymusić jedność.
