Join us as we journey to Latin America and dive into some myths, legends and lore from these mystical lands.Britt starts off the show with the tale of La Lechuza from Mexico, a villainous witch that has taken the form of a large, gnarly looking owl.We hear a story from about a baby who was left with a scar that never healed properly due to a near attempt at being stolen by La Lechuza herself.Alissa takes us to the luring cliffs of Tequendama Falls in Colombia where the Hotel Del Salto sits perched. This hotel is supposedly haunted and lures guests to their death by cliff jumping.Britt stays in Colombia and tells of the legend of El Silbón, a flesh feeding, possibly eating, man who is now known to wander towards unsuspecting individuals while whistling and carrying a bag of bones. The night wouldn't be complete if we didn't mention the queen of all Latin lore, La Llorona herself. The tragic story of Maria, the loss of her children, and her wailing has been told throughout many countries. There are several versions but what we do know is if you hear "mis hijos" wailing from a distance, be very afraid.Support the showRemember to share the podcast with friends and we want to hear your stories! Kat is invoking the origins of Bloody Mary, Robyn has us looking along the river for La Larona and Kylie tells the legend of Baba Yaga. They're powerful, they're frightening and they're on the loose!
This week we take the time to review our Flops, Honorable mentions and and top movies of 2019. We got some weird and controversial picks so listen and yell at us!
Welcome to 2020! Hope your New Years is awesome and Dave, Mikey, and #TwitterlessDrEarl wishes you and yours the best for the upcoming year! And to kick off the year, the Deucecast Crew wants to start looking back at some 2019 movies by getting the bad out of the way -- the Lumps of Coal of the year. The handful of movies that aren't good bad, or bad good, but are just bad... or even bad bad. Turkeys like Men in Black International... crap like Hellboy... junk like Surfer, Dude... and the dumpster fire that is the cursed La Larona... it doesn't get much worse. Enjoy the worst of the worst!
Returning us to the scare-filled universe of THE CONJURING, THE CURSE OF LA LARONA is set in 1970s Los Angeles where the legendary ghost is stalking the night -- and the children. Ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother, a social worker and her own kids are drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. Their only hope of surviving La Llorona's deadly wrath is a disillusioned priest (Raymond Cruz) who practices mysticism to keep evil at bay. In this 1on1, Steve speaks to Cruz about what it is about this story that continues to endure, how he prepared for the role and why this story is so embedded within his culture.

This week the gang put Final Destination. Is it a well executed film? Or is it a film that should be executed? It’s a continuation of our Halloween Horror Month, where each of the gang picks one of their favourite (and underrated) horror films to defend throughout October. This week, Alex is the who is acting as the defense, and arguing that it’s a genre-defining film worthy of the Hit List. Joel is acting as the prosecution and trying to give it the touch of death. Gav and Ausy are the character witnesses, whilst Dave acts as the judge, giving the final verdict. In the news, the gang talk about Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio, and the trailers for The Curse of La Larona and Escape Room. Plus Alex asks which is our favourite Teen Slasher film in this week’s Film Feels. This week’s quiz is all cinematic deaths! All of that plus a Caption Contest, spooky musical instruments, impressions and banter. www.filmsontrial.co.uk
