Hold your applause, maniacs, because this week we're talking another Michael Caine "paycheck" movie with 1981's The Hand, directed by Oliver Stone. While we get into how ridiculous this thing is, we also discuss topics such as buying milk with a ring, our pajama histories, and a lot of Black Sheep references. If you haven't subscribed to our Patreon yet, drop that Caramello and sign up! Tonight we'll be hosting our very first Discord livestream exclusive to patrons at 8 PM EST. Which yinzer trash-terpiece will we watch together: The Majorettes or Flesh Eater? The choice is yours! If you want to hear more episodes featuring the cast of The Hand, you can hear about more Michael Caine with Jaws: The Revenge (episode 251), Viveca Lindfors in Creepshow (episode 104) and Silent Madness (episode 175), and Charles Fleischer in Bad Dreams (episode 35), A Nightmare On Elm Street (episode 74), and Deadly Friend (episode 255).
DownloadWelcome to episode 313 of LOTC!! This week the crew is back with their journey through the 1980's, where they are ranking their top five horror movies of each year. 1982 was another year of some heavy hitting cult classics as well as some of the most entertaining horror movies of the 1980's. Bill The Butcher was on vacation during the recording but no worries as Pearl and GregaMortis recorded his top five films and inserted them into the episode, so with this we are joined by Brian Scott aka Horror Movie Fanboy on Twitter. Brian brings such a big energy for this episode that we know you the listeners will enjoy. Did our list's lineup with yours? Who's list matched yours? Hey Goons! Welcome to a special bonus episode this week on Slashers Podcast. We had two more Patreon picks leftover, so for the next two weeks you'll get not one but TWO episodes of your favorite goons talking your favorite horror media. This week's patreon pick is for Ade's mom, Laureen, who chose The Black Phone. Directed by Scott Derrickson, who you may know from films like Sinister, Doctor Strange, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, and adapted from the Joe Hill novel of the same name. For those of you who don't know, Joe Hill not only starred as the little boy from Creepshow, but is also the son of Stephen King. The Black Phone stars Ethan Hawke as "the grabber," as well as James Ransone, Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw. Mom, this was such a great pick and thanks so much for being a Patreon Member and all your support. Sorry the boys are inappropriate haha. If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes, please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com. It's our 300th episode!!!! We truly can't believe we actually have come this far. Huge thanks to all of our listeners, guests, sponsors, everyone!!! Today we are talking Creep Show 2 (1987) with our longtime guest/collaborator Joe Testa. We will announce the winner of the giveaway today on social media. Thanks again to everyone and enjoy todays episode!
This week on the show Adam and Sarah ran through their weekend festivities as each did a little traveling. Adam and some family rented out a large cabin near the Wisconsin Dells as Sarah and her sisters took the trek to St. Louis to stay at the Lemp Mansion. If you are unfamiliar, you should check out the Creepshow segment that Sarah did on the Lemp family back in October. They definitely had some strange experiences. After that, Mat hosted some trivia for the other two to close out the show. Enjoy!
Can your brain handle Stephen King AND George Romero working together in Pittsburgh on a homage film to EC horror comic of the 1950s? Can your heart handle Tom Savini doing special effects and production design? Oh, and it’s a horror anthology film starring Adrienne Barbeau, Ed Harris, Ted Danson, E.G. Marshall, Tom Atkins, Hal Holbrook, and Joe Hill. Oh, AND Gaylen Ross from DAWN OF THE DEAD as well. This might be the most Kingterion film in the in ‘The Kingterion Collection’ section of the video store. Grab a drink and join us in the basement to discuss 1982’s CREEPSHOW. Hey Goons! Another new episode of Slashers Podcast is upon us. This month is Patreon Pick February, so if you signed up in December or have been with us a long time, you got to pick your movie. Today's Patreon Pick is from one of our long-time, most loyal listeners, Kevin, whom we absolutely adore. Kevin chose 1982's Creepshow, written by Stephen King and directed by George A Romero. This film is an anthology with 5 separate stories plus a wraparound story that stars Tom Atkins and King's son and now famous author, Joe Hill! The film itself has a star-studded cast who include Adrienne Barbeau, Leslie Nielson, Ted Danson, Hal Holbrook, Fritz Weaver, EG Marshall, Ed Harris, Stephen King, and Tom Savini. In addition, Savini does all the gory, goopy and grisly practical effects. Find out why we think this classic should be considered gateway horror for any new horror fan, as well as which segments were our favorites. Let us know yours in the comments!! Thanks, Kevin, for the awesome suggestion. If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes, please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com. Arrrrrre you rrrrrready, outlanders!? This week we're finishing January with another trip to the King well with 1984's Children Of The Corn. While we try (and fail) to keep the Korn jokes to a minimum, we discuss topics such as collect-call numbers from the 90s, living off of free Sheetz coupons in college, and we tell the tale of meeting the film's director on a chance encounter at our old alma mater. If you haven't checked out our brand new Patreon yet, please do! January's bonus episode finds us counting down our top 5 films by the Master Of Horror, John Carpenter. It's been a bit since we've covered a Stephen King adaptation, but if you wanna hear more about the GOAT, check out our episodes on Creepshow 2 (episode 8), Silver Bullet (episode 32), Christine (episode 37), Maximum Overdrive (episode 73), Cujo (episode 80), Creepshow (episode 104), Cat's Eye (episode 226), The Running Man (episode 237), and Firestarter (episode 244).

In the penultimate episode for our Anthology month we are looking at Creepshow from 1982. Stephen King & George Romero teaming up for a Horror Anthology…this has to be awesome right?? We talk about our awareness of the Creepshow franchise prior to this and any expectations we had going into this. We go through the individual segments and talk about our thoughts on the stories, characters and what we did/didn't like Why on earth are we talking about the wwe lore behind Kane & Undertaker and what does that have to do with this film? Leigh discusses her feelings towards Stephen King and how that influenced her viewing of this film. We get into the entire franchise and it's lasting legacy including the very very good series on Shudder. All of this & lots more on this week's episode. What can I say about today's episode with Henry Barajas other than I was so excited to talk about all of Henry's current projects, we didn't really get a chance to get into Helm Greycastle, which I love, so I guess we'll just have to have Henry back on at some point. What we do get to talk about is Gil Thorp, the Etrigan story he wrote in Batman: Urban Legends, La Voz De M.A.Y.O. Tata Rambo, BEYONDTOPIA, and Creepshow #4. Henry's journey in comics is fascinating, I thoroughly enjoyed this chat, and look forward to having Henry back on the Cryptid Creator Corner. Learn more about your ad choices. linktr.ee/CatchingUpOnCinema This December is “Satanic Santa” month at Catching Up On Cinema! All month long, we'll be reviewing Christmas movies featuring murderous, rampaging Santa Claus! This week, Kyle and Trevor review Joe Begos', Christmas Bloody Christmas (2022)! Released as a Shudder Original on the streaming service of the same name, Christmas Bloody Christmas (2022) is a holiday themed slasher film from director Joe Begos. Originally conceived as (another) remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984), Christmas Bloody Christmas, as it exists in its completed form, more closely resembles a remake of The Terminator (1984), solely due to the structure of its 3rd act, and inclusion of a tenacious, mechanical killer, rather than anything having to do with plot or execution. Possessed of a thin concept that is oddly reminiscent of Joe Dante's, Small Soldiers (1998), Christmas Bloody Christmas is a dirt simple, though unfortunately somewhat tedious slasher. Perhaps best presented as a 45 minute episode of Creepshow, rather than a feature length film, Christmas Bloody Christmas is unexpectedly talkie in its first half, featuring numerous overlong, scenes of bawdy, overlapping dialogue that are remarkably naturalistic in delivery and pacing, but utterly unwelcome in a film with a concept and aesthetic presentation such as this. Often a delight to look at, Christmas Bloody Christmas boasts fantastic set dressings and production design, featuring audacious and hyper-stylized lighting schemes that bathe each scene with gorgeous, or alternatively, hideous, splashes of color. Noisy, and maximalist in nature, Christmas Bloody Christmas betrays the promise of its aesthetics and rock stupid concept by failing to deliver in the execution of its kill sequences. Unexpectedly restrained in the guts and gore department, Christmas Bloody Christmas features no less than 3 instances of kills that are not just cut away from before the fluids start flowing, but unfairly teased as kills that have clear potential to deliver visceral thrills. At least one of the aforementioned kill-botches bears some evidence of perhaps being the result of a failed or incomplete practical effect, however this is just a guess from this reviewer. A flawed slasher that shows craft and verve in writing, lighting and performance, perhaps too much given the overly indulgent nature of its many dialogue sequences, Christmas Bloody Christmas is not a horror film without strengths, however for this reviewer, it is a film that needed many of its darlings killed, in favor of processing them into a leaner and more digestible package. The Video Monsters share their thoughts on the 14th annual Knoxville Horror Film Festival, which ran from Oct. 20th - 23rd at the Parkway Drive-In and Central Cinema in Knoxville, TN. From canonical classics like CREEPSHOW, FRIGHT NIGHT (1985), ARMY OF DARKNESS, RE-ANIMATOR, and FROM BEYOND; to the FULCI LIVES triple feature; to some of biggest genre hits on this year's festival circuit like KIDS VS ALIENS, HUESERA, TIMEKEEPERS OF ETERNITY, and SOMETHING IN THE DIRT; the folks at Central Cinema once again crushed it with this year's fest. They were even considerate enough to program future Christmas horror classics like THE WOODSMAN, THE LEECH, and CHRISTMAS BLOODY CHRISTMAS so that we could release this episode in December and it still be seasonally appropriate (OK, so maybe that isn't why they picked these killer holiday flicks but isn't it nice how things worked out?) So grab your R.I.P pass, hit the concession stand, snag some Central Cinema merch and meet us in Knoxville because it's time to celebrate BOTH of the most wonderful times of the year with our coverage of the 2022 Knoxville Horror Film Festival! If you enjoy this episode, come join the Video Monsters crew on Discord (https://discord.gg/sjyUQg8phB)!! Hangout episodes are live (and unedited!) every Tuesday night starting around 9:30pm EST. Listen and chat along with us in the Discord chat and we'll even give you a shoutout on the episode! Things get weird on the show this week with a vast array of new Blu-rays to talk about. Peter Sobczynski joins Erik Childress again to talk perfect films for the holiday by Bob Clark and Michael Haneke? Things get meta with both Kevin Smith and Nicolas Cage. New Tarantino in 4K and Walter Hill as well gives Peter an opportunity to talk about how he first encountered Roger Ebert. Erik gets to discuss his connection to Dawson's Creek and you also get a pair of cult comedy classics and a pair of box office bombs in 4K; one of which Peter goes to bat for. Nick Nolte pops up a couple of times, Jack Lemmon wins an Oscar, a family tries to survive a nuclear holocaust and we go from a 50 foot woman to a 12 year old Brooke Shields living in a brothel. 1:17 - Criterion (Haneke Trilogy) 5:05 - Shout Factory (Black Christmas 4K) 12:14 - Paramount (48 Hrs/Another 48 Hrs 4K, The Warriors Steelbook, Pulp Fiction 4K, Better Off Dead Steelbook, Tommy Boy Steelbook) 36:28 - Warner Archive (Attack of the 50 ft Woman, Night of the Iguana) 46:26 - RLJE (Mad God, Creepshow Season 3) 49:29 - Lions Gate (Clerks III) 55:15 - Sony (Adaptation 4K, Better Call Saul The Complete Series) 1:04:44 - Mill Creek (Dawson's Creek Complete Series) 1:13:06 - Disney/Fox (Amsterdam 4K) 1:20:44 - Universal (RIPD 4K) 1:24:16 - Cohen Media (The Ballad of the Sad Cafe) 1:26:35 - Imprint (Save the Tiger, Testament, North Dallas Forty, Pretty Baby) 1:51:48 – New Blu-ray Announcements 1:54:39 - Outro

To save time, the gang reviews THE ENTIRETY OF GUILLERMO DEL TORO'S CABINET OF CURIOSITIES IN ONE EPISODE. Could they have stretched it out into 8 episodes? You know they could have, but honestly they're not all winners. Also “not all winners” is a metric the Creepshow series WISHES it could reach.

This week on the show, we spend a good chunk of the first half talking about a 12 hour round trip that Mat and Adam took to experience two wrestling shows, a haunted Walmart and a quick visit to the creepy town of St. Nazianz that we highlighted on a recent Creepshow episode. From there, the Ramblin' Rabbi was on the line as Sarah had the boys square off against one another in a game of wits (it was just trivia, but still). Enjoy!
Today on Too Opinionated we are visited by actress Gena Shaw! A New Jersey native, Gena (pronounced Jenna) Shaw grew up with an artist mother and a veterinarian father. She equally loved going to museums as much as she loved watching her father perform surgery on an animal. In high school she did a work-study program allowing her to commute to NYC to study and audition. She landed her first pilot before graduation. After the show wasn't picked up, she relocated to Manhattan and eventually, Los Angeles where she worked in tv, film and dozens of national commercials. A self proclaimed horror and sci-fi fanatic, Gena's greatest career highlights were working with icons like Greg Nicotero, Tom Savini and Doug Jones. Gena's most recent credits include Creepshow, Dopesick, Cobra Kai and the upcoming horror film A Savannah Haunting which won her two Best Actress Awards as well as five other nominations. We discuss an influential collaboration between Stephen King and George Romero in this episode on the 1982 anthology, Creepshow.
It's the 40th anniversary of Creepshow! To celebrate, we're heading to the basement of Horlicks University with special guest Daniel Kraus. Kraus has a special connection to the Godfather of the Dead. The New York Times best-selling author published his posthumous collaboration with Romero, The Living Dead. Head to Kraus' official site for more information on his outstanding works, which include more novels, several comics, and two works he co-wrote with Guillermo del Toro. But for now, join us for the most fun you've ever had being scared. There's a whole lot to unpack on this week's episode of Kill By Kill as we unlock vol. 4 of CREEPSHOW and discuss The Crate with Scored To Death author and documentarian J. Blake Fichera! Along the way, we consider the coding of Henry and Dexter's relationship, expound upon the actual nature of boxed Yeti powers, pour ourselves some Booze Milk, then consider who qualifies as a “sack of wet,” and debate whether The Crate Creature is actually the second half of a Strangers On A Train-like murder swap! All this, plus a fantasy-infused edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure, and Billie introduces the world to the Pittsburg Laverne! Open up and say AAHHH!!! with us today!!
