In the canon of Final Destination imitators, Whistle is a gift. Corin Hardy's ode to teen slashers is a nifty blend of "artifact horror" and young-adult perspectives. There are many films based on the inability to cheat Death, but writer Owen Egerton finds a unique twist to keep us hooked. It's a cozy late-night programmer that fits alongside other Shudder titles like Clown in a Cornfield, one that's respectful of its audience yet focused on easy-breezy genre entertainment. Hardy keeps it simple and aims to put a smile on horror fans' faces, which is just fine in our book.

Buzz buzz buzz, and welcome back to the Yellowjackets Hive! For Emily's first livestream of 2026 that is dedicated to Yellowjackets and the upcoming final season. It only felt right to add to the recent buzz and news that's been released regarding the cast FINALLY heading back to Vancouver to start filming the final season, and some casting announcements as well. For this episode, I hope you've got your tin foil hats ready and waiting! We all still have A LOT of unanswered questions about what may end up playing out when the show returns later this year. So join me in the fun of analyzing, dissecting, and endlessly speculating about theories pertaining to the final season that are floating around the fandom. Some topics discussed: Akilah's potential fate moving forward (especially after they released news stating she has been promoted to a series regular), a possible return to the wilderness in the present day, a potential Final Destination tie-in, how things could end up playing out for both Jeff and Callie, and a whole lot more. Theorizing is one of my favorite aspects of podcasting, so this episode was a ton of fun to prepare for and discuss. There is a possibility of a follow-up/part 2 episode regarding theories about the final season. That will happen closer to when the show is back on the air, so keep your eyes peeled for an announcement about that when the time comes! It's such a treat to be chatting about the show that got me into podcasting and content creation once again. It's a little bittersweet knowing that this is the last time we'll get the chance to craft theories and figure out plot points week to week. But I'm going to make sure that we have an absolute blast the entire ride. As always, thanks so much for listening/watching :) I truly appreciate the support.ALSO- I will be covering HBO's Euphoria and MGM+'s From, which both premiere next month. Euphoria premieres April 12th, and From premieres April 19th. If you are a fan of either show I hope you'll join me for some fun discussions! AND, if you are a YJ super fan like me, watch From ASAP. It's also a mystery box type show that leaves you asking a ton of questions, just like YJ. Keep your eyes peeled regarding an announcement about when coverage for both will premiere! :)

In honor of Scream 7's opening weekend, here's a past episode we did with Scream expert Padraic Maroney! We hope you enjoy it.  I'm joined with horror film expert Padraic Maroney who has written about both the Final Destination and Scream franchises! If you don't know, not only am I a horror fanatic, but so is my husband who couldn't miss out on this exciting conversation. Padraic has interviewed so many from both the Final Destination and Scream franchises, and he reveals so many unanswered questions that viewers have, like what the new Scream film will look like! Padraic starts off the conversation explaining why Final Destination is a bridge between 90s slashers (like Scream) and supernatural horror! A Word With You

My plane had just landed in a Midwestern city during a record breaking cold spell and the pilot welcomed us to the city with a temperature reading that made you want to divert the fight to Florida. Well, at least I had checked the weather channel and I was able to anticipate the ice age, so I had the appropriate coat, scarf, gloves and layers. As I was waiting for my suitcase in the baggage claim area, I heard someone yell, "Grab those pineapples." Excuse me? Well sure enough there were two couples just returning from Hawaii with beautiful live flowers around their necks, and they were wearing short sleeve shirts and, of course, carrying their box of pineapples. Well, when I hit the wind outside, I was cold, but I was prepared. I can't imagine what happened to the Luau bunch! When they woke up that morning they probably just said, "Well, it's warm here. I'll just dress for where I am." They were totally unprepared for where they were going! I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Dressing for Your Final Destination." Now Jesus actually told about a man who was very prepared for where he was, but totally unprepared for where he was going. Maybe like you. Luke 12:16-20, our word for today from the Word of God, Jesus told them this parable, "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself, 'What shall I do, I have no place to store my crops.' Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones and there I will store all my grain and my goods and I will say to myself you have many good things laid up for many years, take life easy, eat, drink and be merry.' But God said to him, 'You fool, this very night your life will be demanded from you, then who will get what you have prepared for yourself!'" Here's a man who was really dressed for where he was, he had it all, he had his earth security well planned out. But he forgot about where he would be spending most of his future - in eternity. He was totally unprepared to meet God. Someday your heart's going to beat for the last time, and in that unpredictable moment eternity will begin for you. And at that point it won't matter what your title was, or your income, or your religion, or your achievements. All that's going to matter is whether or not you have a personal love relationship with God. A relationship that can, according to the Bible, only be accessed through God's Son, Jesus Christ. Why? Because no one can make it to heaven with sin. See, God was supposed to run your life and mine, but over and over we've said, "No, I'll do it, God." The Bible says, "All of us have sinned and we've fallen short of the glory of God." In this parable, "I will" three times. That man God called a fool, he just said, "I will, I will, I will." Because of that, God is out of our reach, but we're not out of His. God says this is love, and this is the Bible speaking. "Not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins" in the most incredible act of love you'll ever hear about. The God we defied sacrificed His one and only Son to carry our death penalty for the sinning we did. And now your eternal destination, heaven or hell, depends totally on what you do with the man who died for your sin, Jesus Christ. You can reject Him, you can ignore Him, or you can reach out to Him and say, "Lord I'm not ready for eternity but I want to be. I'm facing the fact I've gone my way instead of yours over and over again. Right now I'm putting all my trust in You and Your death on that cross for me to remove the sin between God and me, and to open the door to eternal life for me. I want to invite you to go to our website because it's there to help you be sure you have begun a relationship with Him. It's ANewStory.com. Maybe you've been so focused on where you are now, that you've neglected your forever. Yeah you're one heartbeat away from eternity. Isn't it time you got ready for where you're going to be for a very long time?

For not all Orcas share the same sense of fun and need for human companionship like Willy, some…can hold a grudge. For Killer Whales the need for vengeance can be just as strong in Orcas as it can with homosapiens, as one fisherman in the 1970's found out. With rows of razor sharp teeth, designed to tear apart their prey, along with an extensive knowledge of explosives and natural accelerants; one does not wish to be on the bad side of this deadly mammal. The Final Destination is the point where a once-clever horror concept finally admits it has nothing left to say. By the fourth entry, the franchise's core gimmick—cheating Death via a premonition—has gone from macabre novelty to rote obligation. The film feels less like a continuation and more like a contractual requirement, dutifully shuffling through the motions with no real interest in escalating ideas or tension. The most obvious sign of creative exhaustion is the desperate embrace of 3D. Objects fly at the camera with all the subtlety of a carnival ride, and none of it integrates meaningfully into the storytelling. Instead, scenes pause so a tire iron, lawn mower blade, or random shard of debris can be hurled directly at the audience, reminding you that the movie exists primarily to justify its ticket surcharge. It's not immersive; it's intrusive, and it dates the film almost immediately. Worse, the kills themselves lack the elaborate Rube Goldberg flair that once defined the series. The chain reactions are shorter, sloppier, and often telegraphed so clearly that suspense evaporates well before the payoff. Characters are thin sketches whose sole narrative function is to stand near something dangerous until the script decides it's time for gravity or combustion to intervene. There is, however, one scene that almost feels like effort was expended: a cartoonishly vile Nazi who can't read addresses and somehow gets blackout drunk on three beers. His demise is abrupt, mean-spirited, and oddly satisfying—less because it's clever than because the film briefly aligns audience morality with Death's bookkeeping. He dies, and that's good. Unfortunately, that single moment of grim amusement isn't enough to rescue a sequel that mistakes louder, closer, and more gimmicky for fresh.

Finally we are revisiting Final Destination 2, the sequel that turned everyday road trips into pure terror. From the infamous highway pile-up to the franchise's signature chain-reaction deaths, we break down how the film escalates its formula, deepens its mythology of Death's design, and cements its place as one of the most memorable entries in the series. A group of friends start receiving voicemails from their future selves just moments prior to their deaths and then they start to die one after another. One Missed Call is the remake of a 2003 Japanese horror movie from director Takashi Miike and after watching this movie again, we come to the same conclusion. This movie has an interesting concept, but poor execution with a convoluted storyline, plots that lead nowhere, characters that are either developed badly or don't serve a purpose, and cringeworthy CGI. Multiple viewings of this movie haven't changed our opinion over the years and while it has a similar feel to movies like Final Destination, The Ring, and Feardotcom where there's a countdown to death, this film fails to deliver on an interesting premise. Tune in as the Christmas fun stays strong on 2CC! For this fourth episode of December, Karyn Raynor (Chick-Lit) is jumping back into their guest chair to unpack Black Christmas, the 2006 remake of the 1974 Christmas slasher horror movie in which a house full of sorority sisters face off against a stalker who terrorizes them with unnerving prank phone calls and a thirst for murder. The differences and similarities between this remake and its OG predecessor, the oddness of the sex tape subplot, grief for Michelle Trachtenberg, and appreciation for the campy horror of the Final Destination series emerge as a few of the talking points for this episode.Written and directed by Glen Morgan, Black Christmas (2006) stars Katie Cassidy, Kristen Cloke, Michelle Trachtenberg, Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lacey Chabert, Andrea Martin, Robert Mann, Oliver Hudson, Karin Konoval, Cainan Wiebe, Jessica Harmon, Leela Savasta, Kathleen Kole, Howard Siegel, Peter Wilds, and Juan Riedinger.Spoilers start at 29:00Create your podcast today! #madeonzencastrHere's how you can learn more about Palestine and IsraelHere's how you can keep up-to-date on this genocideHere's how you can send eSIM cards to Palestinians in order to help them stay connected onlineGood Word:• Karen: The Devil You Know with Sarah Marshall• Arthur: A Christmas StoryReach out at email2centscritic@yahoo.com if you want to recommend things to watch and read, share anecdotes, or just say hello!Be sure to subscribe, rate, and review on iTunes or any of your preferred podcasting platforms!Follow Arthur on Twitter, Goodpods, StoryGraph, Letterboxd, and TikTok: @arthur_ant18Follow Arthur on Bluesky: @arthur-ant18Follow the podcast on Twitter: @two_centscriticFollow the podcast on Instagram: @twocentscriticpodFollow Arthur on GoodreadsCheck out 2 Cents Critic Linktree

Hollywood isn't finished with four different series that we've previously covered and our professionalism dictates it's time to take catch up and take care of some business. You'll hear a lengthy conversation about this sequel's opening scene that we simply can't find a way to shut up about, how much respect we heap on the directors and Tony Todd for finding a way to give the veteran actor the perfect sendoff for the series and his life and how much glee we find in the movies refusal to let a single character off the hook from death's steely glare. In this special Terrified Together collaboration with our friends Dave and Sarge from Cryptid Cocktail Party, we share two intense listener-submitted encounters that blur the line between tragedy and the paranormal. Our first story involves Levi's harrowing story from Wales, where a routine Costco trip turned into a real-life Final Destination moment when scaffolding from an unsecured truck pierced through their windshield on Junction 28. The pole sliced between Levi and their sister, leaving Levi with a gashed arm but somehow sparing both their lives in what felt like an impossible near-miss. Then, we jump into Jeanette's unsettling experience from Connecticut in 2016, when she stayed late after soccer practice and made the mistake of walking back to the practice field alone in the dark to retrieve her forgotten phone and purse. What started as an eerie feeling of being watched escalated when a young boy came running toward her in the empty parking lot, eventually asking "can I come with you?" in a way that left Jeanette deeply uncomfortable. Though she mumbled agreement while considering the "good karma" for an upcoming game, the unremarkable boy vanished the instant she turned toward her car—and that's when things got worse at home. They get nostalgic for the days when Disney had famous artists record their own versions of movie songs, sharing why they want that trend to make a major comeback. On a more sad note, they chat about their unexpected sadness over the news involving Diane Keaton and Maxwell, and express their mutual frustration with the rising tide of "clip farming" online. They discuss if meases mentioned in the Bible, another update on Meghan's latest injury (surprise!), and a discussion about the beauty of trees changing color.
