It's the chilling conclusion of All Horror October, and we're going out with a bilingual scream! This week, we plunge into Spanish-language horror, where ghosts cry, kids see too much, and grief has subtitles. Joining us at the haunted roundtable is Josh Deleon, who helps us navigate two haunting modern classics: Tigers Are Not Afraid (2017) — the grim fairy tale that'll punch you right in the feels — and La Llorona (2019), not to be confused with The Curse of La Llorona (also 2019)… because this one's actually good. We toast the end of spooky season with one last Oktoberfest — the malty, magical brew from Ayinger — before cracking open not one, but two Pumpkinators from Saint Arnold Brewing: the 2024 original and the 2025 Bourbon Barrel-Aged beast. It's a pumpkin showdown so rich and boozy, you might start crying “¡Ay, mi hígado!” So light a candle, say a prayer, and pour yourself something dark and haunted. This week's Beer and a Movie has everything — political ghosts, streetwise orphans, and the kind of beer lineup that'll make the undead jealous.

In the full moonlight, two young coyotes are about to discover the legend of La Llorona is more than myth as the deadly spirit closes in.Tonight's story is the second and final part of “La Leyenda de Marisa Gritaluna” by Juan C. Moreno, who knows the mountains of Colorado like the back of his paw and will be your guide across a wilderness of action, adventure, and mystery. This reimagined folktale first appeared in Selections of Anthropomorphic Regalements: Volume 1, edited by the late K.C. Alpinus and published by Goal Publications but now available from Fenris Publishing. You can find more of his stories in “Reclamation Project: Year One,” “ROAR Volume 11,” the Furry Writers' Guild's latest anthology, “Tales from the Guild: Blood and Water,” or Juan's DeviantArt gallery.Last time, Marisa the teenaged coyote followed her younger brother to the riverbank after he ignored his grandmother's warnings as superstitious folktales. However, as moonlight covers the land and the air fills with mournful howling, the coyotes will discover some legends are terrifyingly real.Read by Cider, the Library Marten.thevoice.dog | Apple podcasts | Spotify | Google PodcastsIf you have a story you think would be a good fit, you can check out the requirements, fill out the submission template and get in touch with us.https://thevoice.dog/episode/la-leyenda-de-marisa-gritaluna-by-juan-c-moreno-part-2-of-2

«¿Dónde están mis niños?»My new Youtube channel: Spanish with Dennishttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQVuRUMQGwtzBIp1YAImQFQMy new Discord server and chat and you can already join and write to me there:https://discord.gg/HWGrnmTmyCMy new Telegram channel and you can already join and write to me or comment there:https://t.me/SpanishwithDennisJoin my Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/spanishwithdennisSupport me by joining my podcasts supporter club on Spreaker:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/slow-spanish-language--5613080/supportDonate with Boosty:https://boosty.to/spanishwithdennis/donateDonate with Donation Alerts:https://www.donationalerts.com/r/dennisespinosaDonate with Crypto currency:Bitcoin (BTC)1DioiGPAQ6yYbEgcxEFRxWm5hZJcfLG9V6USDT (ERC20)0xeb8f678c0b8d37b639579662bf653be762e60855USDT (TRC20)TXoQwsaiTGBpWVkyeigApLT8xC82rQwRCNEthereum (ETH)0xeb8f678c0b8d37b639579662bf653be762e60855If you have any other suggestions or recommendations on what other platform you can support me and my podcasts, please let me know.

In the popular telling, La Llorona is a ghost. She's the spirit of a woman who haunts watery places, wailing for her lost children. But as with all stories, the meaning of the myth has changed over time and many people now see La Llorona as a protector. For spooky October, we explore the ghostly myth that frightens children and the more empowering version of the legend. Send us a textOn this week's episode of The Book Fix podcast, Yajaira and Cheli dive into r/Paranormal for a candle-lit scare session that starts with bravado and ends with both of us begging for cartoons before bed. We read a chilling La Llorona experience from a U.S. service member stationed in Honduras: nightly sobbing at 3:00 a.m., a voice whispering from the dark, chickens exploding into squawks—and a near-miss on the flight line days later. We trade legends and family lore (streams, red-painted doors and windows, and a woman sweeping on the roof at 2 a.m.—absolutely not), then unpack these stories together. The history of the old west is littered with tales of bloodthirsty outlaws, renegade cattle barons, gunfights, lost treasure and ghost towns, but in his latest book, author and researcher John Lemay takes us on a tour of its most notorious and some would say frightening ghostly legends. From the spirit of Billy the Kid and the legends surrounding his supposed survival, to the ever wandering spirit of La Llorona, a ghostly steer who's very presence seems to foretell bad luck and misfortune to a gruesome hanging and a forgotten murder spree, Lincoln County is full of the supernatural. Dan's first supposedly true supernatural tales comes to us from Tennessee where we explore the legend of the White Bluff Screamer. After that, we'll travel to the end of the 16th century, where in what is now Germany, a man named Peter Stumpp, living in the small farming town of Bedburg , was once tortured and killed after confessing to being a murderous werewolf. Finally, we'll stay in the not-so-forgotten past, and explore England's 1612 Pendle Witch Trials—the deadliest witch trials in English history and a precursor to the Salem Witch Trials here in America. Then, Lulu Marie shares a little head scratcher. A new mom is wondering if she has a ghost or if it's her mom or if its her postpartum depression messing with her. Lastly, we head to Bulgaria for a local legend and modern day encounter. STDP Fan Stories Book #6: Don't forget! Today is the day! Annabelle's your books went on sale at 12 noon today! This week's Encounters dives into the dark, strange, and often terrifying world of urban legends that turn out to be a little too real. La Llorona, BEK, Goat Man, The Devil's Tree and Slender Man?! Are these just haunting tales passed around the campfire? What happens if they turn out to be real?! These listener stories might just prove that they are. We're getting into: A nighttime visit to Red Ash Cemetery turns terrifying when a ghostly woman on all fours transforms into something... not quite human. A grandmother in Nepal encounters a black eyed kid — and nearly loses her life. A cursed tree with ties to a real serial killer might be responsible for a listener's heartbreaking paranormal loss. A game of midnight hide-and-seek with Slender Man that reveals a ghost girl phasing through a fence. A listener sees their mother at their bedroom door… except she never got out of bed that night. Whether you're chasing cryptid legends, playing paranormal games at 3 a.m., urban legends sometimes have roots in something very real — and very haunted.
