SWEARY ONE THIS WEEK.We read through a blog entry by Dominic Cummings, director of the Leave Campaign, where he explains how "a startup created in a few months could win a referendum that should have been unwinnable." Dominic put a bomb under the British government in 2016 by using hi-tech manipulative tactics to win the EU Referendum apparently to prove how broken the system is. As two people who have spent a lot of time designing and improving systems we start to unpick the problems with his attitude and approach to the situation.Read along here: “‘Expertise’, prediction and noise, from the NHS killing people to Brexit” - https://dominiccummings.com/2018/06/05/effective-action-4b-expertise-prediction-and-noise-from-the-nhs-killing-people-to-brexit---- This week's links ----[1] BRAVOs - https://brightonrestaurantawards.co.uk/ [2] Fish Love - Sustainability - http://fishlove.co.uk [3] Laylow - https://www.standard.co.uk/go/london/attractions/laylow-london-restaurant-w10-bar-a4011286.html[4] Ivanka’s Project on govt blog - https://mhclgdigital.blog.gov.uk/2019/03/28/defining-policy-outcomes-for-event-fees/[5] “Corbyn’s views are popular” - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7lsRbDKOXg [6] Carrilion - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carillion[7] David Heinemeier Hansson - “Living with Legacy Code” - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJkiCpPeYuI [8] How Sqlite is tested - https://www.sqlite.org/testing.html[9] Andrew Simms https://www.theguardian.com/profile/andrewsimms [10] The Checklist Manifesto - Atul Gawande - https://amzn.to/2Uozncb ---- Credits ----Music and editing by http://michaelforrestmusic.comTalking is by Ivanka Majic and Michael Forrest---- Follow us on Twitter ----https://twitter.com/ivankahttps://twitter.com/michaelforresthttps://twitter.com/PodcastGrand---- Grand Podcast Library ----Find links to everything we've mentioned on the podcast at http://grandpodcast.com/library---- Find us on Facebook ----https://www.facebook.com/grandpodcast See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Disclaimer: The views expressed in this presentation are solely those of the interviewer/interviewee and do not in any way represent the views of the Holywell Trust, its partners or their funders. Since this podcast's first episode we have been desperately seeking a Unionist voice within the devolved Northern Ireland Government or the UK Parliament to discuss why they/their party backed the Leave Campaign during the EU Referendum of 2016. Finally we are able to provide that voice in the form of the DUP MP for East Londonderry; Gregory Campbell. During the course of this interview with Paul Gosling, Gregory explains why the DUP supports the Brexit process, why he and the party voted against Theresa May's Withdrawal Agreement in January, the issue of the border in Ireland and what he expects the impact of Brexit to be for Northern Ireland and the UK.
