LET'S TALK ABOUT MONEY, Y'ALL. Now if talking about money openly and honestly ever felt taboo, this episode. is. for. YOU! To get into the nitty gritty of money relationships, habits and strategies, Minji brings back a wonderful returning guest - photographer and blogger Melly Lee - to unpack this broad and emotionally charged topic. The two dive into their histories with money as a spender vs saver, someone who struggled with mountains of debt vs someone who was deathly afraid of debt, and as individuals who never received a substantial financial education. They share beliefs about money that they inherited and how those beliefs manifested in some TOUGH (and expensive) lessons - in work, in friendships, in family dynamics, and more. Most importantly, they share how they've both started reprogramming themselves to feel empowered with money despite gender inequalities, self-sabotaging tendencies, and lack of guidance. This is for the many generations of kids/adults who've had to figure this all out on our own and are learning financial literacy and the creation of true wealth. Self-validation, where have you been our entire lives? How wonderful it is to actually LIKE yourself without having it followed up by guilt, shame, anxiety, or doubt. Seriously, those "feeling myself" moments are EVERYTHING. They can come in waves, they can come momentarily, but hopefully we're all on a path of increasing, genuine, lasting appreciation of who we are just as we are. BUT HOW DOES ONE GET THERE??? Far be it from us to tell you what your best way is. But we will share many personal thoughts, experiences, hijinks, self-critical judgments, epiphanies, truth bombs, and miracles that got us to where we are. In this episode, Minji sits down with her dear friend slash amazing photographer, blogger, and visual storyteller Melly Lee. Together they sift through their past rubble of feeling lost, disillusioned, disconnected, and hopeless, and how they came to have moments of feeling content and proud of who they are. They discuss everything from cognitive behavioral therapy to breath work (oh hai, Wim Hof) and Meyers Briggs assessments, accepting help from lifeline friends to helping ourselves through building daily habits and affirmations. Practical, spiritual, heart, soul, & mind unite! Melly Lee is a conceptual photographer with a BA from the University of California, Irvine whose clients include Google, Warner Bros., LEGO, and Harper Collins. Once you go down the rabbit hole with Melly you'll also realize that she is an imaginative adventurer who doesn't believe in “can’t” “no” and “don’t.” Melly used to be very cautious and was taught to go the safer route in life but she knew deep in her heart she wanted more. Find out how a trip to New Zealand was able to open her eyes to new opportunities and experiences to be the person that she is today.
