Today, I'm sharing a replay of my conversation on The Mental Golf Show with Josh Nichols. This conversation originally went live on July 25, 2024. Together, we unpack how subconscious beliefs, emotional baggage, and unhelpful mental patterns sabotage consistency—and how hypnotherapy provides a rapid path to lasting change. In this episode, you'll learn: The real difference between talk therapy and hypnotherapy Why “scarcity of time” is ruining your focus and enjoyment How visualization mistakes (not just success) can improve performance Why fear of success may be quietly sabotaging your game How old rules you agreed to long ago are still running your life Why emotional regulation is the key to unlocking fast change How to reframe golf as part of life—not something competing against it If you've ever struggled with fear of failure, the pressure to perform, time scarcity, or self-sabotage on the course, this conversation will hit home. You'll walk away with a deeper understanding of how the subconscious mind impacts your game—and what you can do about it. Get your pencils ready and start listening. Instagram: @thegolfhypnotherapist Twitter: @parsoverbogeys Key Takeaways: Hypnosis isn't mind control—it's deep relaxation with a goal. Fear of failure often masks a deeper fear of success. Scarcity of time leads to rushed, low-quality rounds. You can rewire emotional reactions like frustration and anger—they're learned. Visualization is most effective when it includes mistakes and recovery. Talk therapy can be helpful—but hypnotherapy often produces faster results. Your belief in what you're worthy of is the ceiling for your golf performance. Key Quotes: “Hypnosis is meditation with a goal.” “Fear of failure is often really fear of success in disguise.” “You don't need more swing tips—you need to address what's going on between the ears.” “Your subconscious doesn't care if you're successful. It cares if you're safe.” “If you want to make visualization work, you have to include mistakes.” “Anger might have served you as a young golfer—but now it holds you back.” “Golf is part of life—not something competing against it.” Time Stamps: 00:00: Introduction and Background 03:02: The Role of Nutrition in Golf Performance 05:58: Scarcity Mentality in Golf 08:46: Balancing Life and Golf 12:07: Understanding Hypnotherapy 14:57: Hypnotherapy vs. Traditional Therapy 27:15: The Value of Traditional Talk Therapy 30:05: The Speed of Change: Hypnotherapy vs. Traditional Methods 33:17: Breaking Free from Limiting Beliefs 37:23: Fear of Failure and Its Impact on Performance 41:44: The Fear of Success: A Hidden Barrier 45:56: Visualization Techniques for Golf Improvement 49:52: Continuous Growth and the Journey of Self-Discovery 52:56: Setting Ambitious Goals and Embracing the Process

Introduction: In this episode, Sarah Walton, a dynamic business coach and sales expert, unpacks the powerful connection between money mindset and personal growth. Raised in a low-income household, Sarah knows the unspoken rules and financial beliefs that shape our lives. She brings her signature no-nonsense coaching strategies to reveal how women in business can break free from scarcity, embrace abundance, and cultivate confidence in sales and life. This conversation dives into how mindset shifts around time, money, and self-worth can transform your business and personal development journey. Main Takeaways: Unspoken Rules Shape Financial Beliefs: Identifying inherited beliefs can help dismantle the scarcity mentality. Money is Infinite; Time is Finite: Recognizing this truth can revolutionize decision-making and time management. Confidence Drives Perceived Value: Abundance flows when you confidently own your worth and offerings. Main Topics with Timestamps: Unspoken Rules and Scarcity Mentality (05:15) Sarah explains how unspoken childhood rules—like "money is stressful" or "more is better"—can unconsciously control decisions. She emphasizes that these beliefs aren't truths but inherited mindsets. Quote: "Unspoken rules run deep, but identifying them allows us to rewrite our stories." Impact: Realizing how these unexamined beliefs operate can unlock a sense of freedom and control over your financial choices. Money vs. Time: Infinite and Finite (23:42) The misconception that time is abundant and money is limited is flipped. Sarah highlights that money flows endlessly in the economy, but time is a resource you can't replenish. Quote: "Billions of dollars circulate daily—it's about participating in the flow, not fighting it." Impact: This mindset shift encourages smarter investments in your time and energy, empowering you to focus on high-value activities. Perceived Value and Sales Confidence (41:08) Owning the value of your work is key to thriving in sales. Sarah reframes selling as a transfer of enthusiasm rather than a pushy transaction. Quote: "When you trust your value, you can confidently ask for the raise or increase your prices without guilt." Impact: Seeing sales as an opportunity to share value transforms fear into empowerment, fostering authenticity in every transaction. Notable Quotes: "We come into this world naturally abundant; scarcity is something we learn, but abundance is always available." "Confidence in your value isn't about arrogance; it's about showing up with integrity and love." "The unexamined psyche will rule your life—question your beliefs to unlock your true potential." John Vervaeke delves into the concept of the meaning crisis facing our planet and explores how we can cultivate lives filled with purpose and wisdom. He shares his personal journey through a meaning crisis and reflects on how Socratic wisdom has shaped his understanding. As he examines the broader implications of our current societal struggles, John highlights the main contributors to this, drawing parallels between modern times and historic civilizations and examining four essential aspects that define meaning in our lives. He addresses the impacts of scarcity mentality, technology, and loneliness, while offering insights into the contemplation of death and the fear of the unknown. The conversation also touches on the four types of knowing, the existential significance of love, and the process of relevance realization, which frames our perception of reality. Ultimately, he presents a vision for humanity's future in the aftermath of the meaning crisis, contemplating the inevitability of suffering and drawing wisdom from great philosophers throughout history. Fr Daniel Serratore says that today's readings show us how to overcome our scarcity mentality. God's abundance is not only inexhaustible, but we access God's abundance when we give generously from what we have, our time, our energy, our resources.
In this episode of the Volunteer Nation podcast, host Tobi Johnson discusses the widespread issue of scarcity mentality within the nonprofit sector and how it limits organizations' ability to grow and engage volunteers effectively. Tobi emphasizes that this mentality leads organizations to focus on constraints rather than opportunities, hindering investment in volunteers and the infrastructure supporting them. She highlights the importance of viewing spending on volunteer programs as an investment, rather than a cost and shares practical tips on shifting mindset, calling out scarcity when it appears, and ensuring organizations provide sufficient support and resources for volunteers in your non-profit. If you do, it's maybe for a couple of weeks, sometimes as scarce as a couple of hours. 2 You believe there's only so much money to go around and often get into conflict over commissions…both with clients and other agents. You're a fan of the ‘procuring cause' argument. 3 You don't use a buyer's agency agreement because you're afraid of losing the commission to an agent who doesn't use agency agreements. Fortunately, this particular issue is no longer up to you as of July this year! 4 You lose listings over ‘sticking to your guns' on commission. You'd rather be ‘right' or ‘righteous' than give a little to make a deal happen. 5 You are immune to goal setting and feel you're above it. Goal setting ‘isn't for you'.
We got a fantastic listener question this week. "Hi Meg & Susan, I really enjoyed your perspective on Ultra Processed Foods. It did make me reflect how our family is eating and I was surprised at how high the proportion of these foods is. I'm not worried about them but would like to reduce them but unsure how to do it without feeling restricted or making the kids feel restricted. Do you have any advice?" So we jump into this topic, and hope you find it helpful. Meg's favourite thing this week was the Recipetin Eats cookbook Vietnamese shaking beef and it was blade steak, not chuck! The REsource and THE Source. Today, Pastor Michael is kicking off on “Scarcity Mentality”, a mindset that forces one to focus on only the lack of resources. The heart of the message is, “Use the resource, trust the source.” The source, Jesus, will never run out! Jesus is on His last trip to Jerusalem, coming from Galilee, knowing He will be crucified, rise from the grave, and defeat death and the devil. He is coming down from Samaria with ten men, lepers, who are calling out for mercy. These men had a true scarcity mentality, as lepers of those days had almost no resources available and were shunned by society. Jesus told the men to go and show themselves to the priests, and they were healed. One, a Samaritan, came back to Jesus and gave thanks. Jesus asked, “Were not ten cleansed?” as ten were who cried out and Jesus told the ten to go to the priests. Yet, only one, a Samaritan, a foreigner, came to give thanks for the healing. Jesus told the man that his faith had made him well. The other nine used the resource but did not trust the source…the Samaritan trusted THE source: Jesus. (CSB Bible Notes) It is striking that the only one of the ten men who had healed and returned and thanked Jesus was a Samaritan . . . a foreigner. This is in keeping with Luke's theme of the universal outreach of the gospel. Jesus's statement your faith has saved you implies that the Samaritan was healed physically and spiritually. Verses can be found in Luke 17: 11-17. Scripture quotations marked CSB have been taken from the Christian Standard Bible®, Copyright © 2017 by Holman Bible Publishers. Used by permission. Does your scarcity mindset create a life you secretly despise? I used to have a horrendous scarcity mentality. There was never enough time. There was never enough money. There was never enough X, Y or Z for me to really live the life I want. This royally fucked me for years. It's not like I wasted those years. But I certainly didn't make the most of them. I dragged myself out of that hole over the course of years and now understand how to obliterate that mentality. Now, I see the same pattern in potential clients day in, day out. They have excuses that sound like logic but are really just traps. On one hand they call themselves an adventurer or an ultra runner or an alpinist. And they may have been that person one day. But their current reality tells a different story. If you took a snapshot of their past 12 months, all you'd see is someone yearning for adventure, but establishing their own road blocks. They don't show up as their best self consistently. They fail to book the trips. They fail to live the life of an adventurepreneur. They settle for mediocrity and the status quo. Scarcity creates a mediocre life for extraordinary people. Today, I'm going to describe the 3 golden rules I teach my adventurepreneur clients to take. Then I'm going to explain the single most effective tool to overcome a scarcity mentality.

In this episode of No BS Sales School, host Walker McKay emphasizes the significance of mastering the art of sales in a world saturated with outdated and ineffective advice. He introduces the core concept of "some will, some won't, so what, who's next?" as a critical mindset for success. Walker explains that emotional detachment is key to overcoming the heartbreak of rejection and highlights the fact that not every prospect is the right fit. He addresses the two main reasons people struggle with this concept: scarcity mentality and the need for approval. Walker encourages listeners to focus on their sales pipeline, providing a fresh perspective on measuring success. He emphasizes the distinction between seeking approval and building mutual respect with prospects. By redefining success, detaching from the need for approval, and maintaining a professional approach, salespeople can navigate the modern sales landscape effectively.HIGHLIGHTS QUOTESEmbracing Resilience in Sales - "Sales is the most lucrative skill in the world. Period. The problem is, most sales advice out there today is outdated, cheesy, and can even keep you from getting the deals that can make all the difference in your career. This is the no BS sales school, a podcast for entrepreneurs and salespeople who want to master the skill of selling without all the BS."Shift in Perspective: Some Will, Some Won't - "Some will buy from you. Some won't. So what? Who's the next person you need to be talking to? And the reason you need to understand this, right, is that you're not the right fit for everybody. And if you walk into every single sale thinking, this is going to be the one, this is going to be the one, this is going to be the one, you're going to have your heart broken time after time after time. You have to separate yourself emotionally from this deal right in front of you."Where to find Walker:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/walkermckay/Twitter: https://twitter.com/walkermckayInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/nobssalesschool/Free Training Course: http://www.7salesmistakes.com/Website: https://www.walkermckay.com/

Today is a solocast and I'm sharing how I was caught off guard by the abundance of blessings that I encountered as I continued to work on manifesting abundance in my own life. I share that there were still things about myself and areas that I was still due to grow in.In this episode I touch on how we perpetuate scarcity mentality in our personal lives and within the collective. I get into what that looks like and compare it to an abundance mindset and what that means as well as how you can start to move towards more abundance in your life. What is real abundance? Abundance is so much more than what we see in our material world. When you are in a state of abundance from the inside, only then can you start to see abundance all around you. This will create a sense of inner peace, presence and confidence within yourself that is unshakable.Sign up for my Finally Thriving Group Program Waitlist & get notified for when the next class starts:https://www.finallythrivingprogram.com/waitlistPurchase Hang Time here!Solfeggio Frequency Music & Meditationhttps://allisonpelot.bandcamp.com/album/high-vibe-thriving-2Purchase Finally Thriving Here! We take time to really sit in the valuable gems that she brought forward and what it means in living the #FirstGenVida. There are two real gems: First, learning how to speak so you are heard. And second, if people are hearing you then why not tell them your big dream? Or, is dreaming big too big a risk for you or others? It's all about getting beyond scarcity mindset, that limiting thinking that keeps you from dreaming big for fear of losing what you have. After all, it's better that what your parents had so isn't that good enough? No! If we love ourselves, then we are worth the risk to live the dreams that we want, not the ones others had for us. Today's episode is extra long but extra good! I had the opportunity to sit down once more with the talented Adrian Ramsay! A few months ago I had the privilege of being a guest on his podcast, TALKDesign, and I enjoyed our conversation so much that I told him he had to be on mine! We had an in-depth and great conversation about the biggest elephant in the room, the state of the economy! Adrian, having been in this business over for 22 years, gave us his insights about what's been happening, what we should pay attention to, and what we can do to ensure that our businesses can survive during the economic downturn. I recently shared a reel about the reality of my money situation, how i've been having to fund my travels this year and how my money mindset fell into this scarcity spiral..AKA.. felt like money was always leaving me and never getting enough back, and it was this neverending cycle. On this episode I go a little more in depth with that story and I share... -Three universal truths that will help you understand how my scarcity thoughts were actually perpetuating an undesired reality for me. -The moment I decided I was done feeling scarcity. -The three part process of getting myself out of that scarcity mentality and into an abundant mindset which consisted of: 1. Setting an intention during a meditation to shift into abundance and visualizing it happening. 2. Practicing intentional Gratitude & tracking all incoming money 3. Reframing debt (this was the hardest but final piece that helped me shift!) If you enjoyed this episode, I would SO love it if you would leave a 5 star review below as the more love this podcast receives, the more people it will reach and help! Thank you so so much in advance!!! Follow my travels and behind-the-scenes over at www.instagram.com/passporttomanifest
Do you have a scarcity mentality or an abundance mentality? This can be a very key differentiator between those that are very successful in business and those that struggle constantly. A lot of us, when we enter into a business opportunity, we look around at competitors and we think, “This pie is only so big, there's only a certain amount of market share, a certain amount of opportunity that exists.”We get into this business owner mindset that there's only so much that can go around. There are more competitors so there must be less opportunity. But the irony is that the business owners that are really successful actually flip that script and think a completely different way! We need to open ourselves up, we need to lean in and see the bigger potential for opportunities. Instead of looking at our market from a competitive standpoint, how can we be cooperative? How can we look at our competitors, flip the script and say,“Oh, there's a bigger and better opportunity for all of us if we actually work together versus against each other?” Are you working competitively or cooperatively? Have you leaned into the abundance mentality or are you focused on the scarcity? Do you think about getting enough food, all the time? Are you always thinking about your next meal? We started off season 2 with a bang! This episode is a great one on learning how to get past scarcity mentality, I.E not eat the entire bag of your kids chips, while you're making lunches.
In a scarcity mentality, we lose what we cling to in fear because we believe it to be preferable to the nothingness we assume would take its place. Developing an abundance mentality necessitates that we cultivate greater trust in the universe to provide opportunities to fulfill our needs and desires. In this episode, I discuss an example of scarcity mentality in my own history and how I learned to have faith in abundance.
Hey Girl, welcome back for another cup of virtual Cafecito! You know what I love the most about Cafecito? It's the deep conversations that happen over Cafecito. It's such special time when friends can share their heart over a hot cup of coffee. On this bonus episode, I am going to talking about limiting beliefs. I have researched this and continue to research it because I want to understand why people have these beliefs. But in addition to limiting beliefs, there is also generational beliefs / mindsets that have shaped your view of life. A limiting belief it's a false belief, about yourself and about your life. These beliefs hold you back from living a full life, because what limiting beliefs do is they affect your decision making and your ability to take risks in life. They stop you from pursuing your goals and your dreams. Limiting beliefs is a broad topic, but for this episode I am going to be focusing on the belief of not having enough. This limiting belief comes from having scarcity mentality or a poverty mentality and it causes you to operate from a place of fear. The fear that you will run out of money or not have enough money. This fear is especially real when you have grown up not having "enough." The fear of not having "enough" influences your behavior, your view of life, your decisions. it manifests in your life a few different ways. You might say things like, "I'm selfish, for wanting to invest in that." The fear and belief cause you to not invest in yourself and will hold you back. When it comes to that, you have to give yourself the permission to invest in "you" because you are worth it. What happens when you invest in yourself? What happens when you choose to go against the fear that tries to hold you back from investing in yourself? You are no longer the same person. You slowly begin to change and transform, because now you show yourself that you can do something different. The woman that invests in herself and not just her money, but her time will grow and self-develop in such beautiful way but doing this will require you to be okay with being uncomfortable. But if you dare allow yourself to be uncomfortable you will get to see the beautiful transformation within yourself.
