These elegiac pieces in honour of lost loved ones is pensive and thoughtful. If delicate, melancholic guitars with sparse and subtle accompaniment is your thing, as it is mine, you will love this Kolo by Kitka Women’s Vocal Ensemble favorite track Gelino (Georgia) Kitka is based out of Oakland, CA, but you'd never guess it from their spine-tingling vocalizations. This release offers 15 exquisite renderings of the women's vocal traditions from Eastern Europe. Lushly layered and unforgettably eerie. Jim Ghedi “The Death of Robin Hood Soundtrack” 2026 Almost serendipitously, Jim Ghedi was tapped to provide the soundtrack to Michael Samoski's new film, starring Hugh Jackman. Typical of Ghedi, it is very dense, dark, and drone-y, the perfect combination for this film. I am torn between the original, What Will Become of England, and the traditional rendering of Twa Corbies, two ravens rendering the body of a slain knight. I'm going with the birds. Favourite Track: Twa Corbies Meadowlands by Moon Mother favorite track World in a Glass Jar Swedish dark/doom/psych/folk duo bring us this lushly melancholic offering. There are elements of post rock here and there, and plenty of reverb. The hushed guitar and softened percussion suit the delicate, wistful vocals. The Glorious Abysmal by WILD GODS favorite track Carlene’s Pin Here is some more delicious, dense, drone-y music, this time out of Scotland. As the title suggests, it is wonderfully dark and gloomy. A trio of long tracks are interspersed with short palate-cleansing entr'actes. Best heard straight through, but chew on Carlene's Pin to get a good taste. A Blooming Body by Cinder Well favorite track Beyond the Pale Bleak introspective dark folk, with delicately subdued production. The stories are what matter to multi-instrumentalist Amelia Baker on this release. Confessional and haunting. The Abyss by Flight76 favorite track abyss Multi-instrumentalist/composer Ian Wright's fourth release of music finds him still in fine classic progressive form. As in the prior release, the performances are stellar, the production impeccable. The Flight 76 project as released is an amalgamation of surviving original recordings, and newly recorded and reimagined tracks, keeping one foot firmly in the past, and another in the present. Fountain by The Thorn Formerly known as Large Plants, The Thorn have recently released two singles, and this is the older of the two. They have a lovely sense of psychedelia, melding it with folk rock, in pastoral settings. I hope they plan another full release soon. Shaniko b/w The Valley The Shadow by Michael Trew favorite track Shaniko I'm always eager to hear what Michael Trew has come up with, and never disappointed. This is a true single format, with two pieces, both with his wonderfully evocative vocals at the fore, a bit of a retro alt/rock feel. Both are exceptionally moving, but I'm going with the one about the Oregon ghost town, “Shaniko.”

We're back for episode 104! Mitch is away camping, and Michael Trew is in the hot seat. Matt kicks off this week's episode with a bit of Mk5 Toyota Supra news; with the first 100 Australian allocations presale selling out in 50 minutes. Then the boys wax on about how great V8 Supercar Driver Scott McLaughlin is as a driver, having being the first to ever score a ''Triple Crown' at Darwin. Joseph bring up Porsche announcing 2 new cars, both with naturally aspirated 6-cylinder engines, and Matt and Michael talk nonsense about how Porsche shouldn't be turbocharged [Mitch's Note; Clearly Matthew and Michael forgot about the 911 Turbo/Turbo S and the GT2 RS!] Matt and Joseph then go back to talking about Scott McLaughlin killing it in the Supercar Championship, being 400 points ahead of #2 - His Team Mate, Fabian Coulthard. Before they go on to talk about Formula E. The boys then go back to talking about the new Porsche GT4, then Matt loses his mind about how naturally aspirated engines keep making more power year-on-year. Thankfully, Michael is on hand, or resident engineer while the short-one is away, who can somewhat explain how this is possible, and the lads just then talk about engine engineering. Michael then talks about his and his old man's project; an original Fiat 124 Spyder, and then Michael talks about his issues with Coronation Drive in Brisbane (a hated road by almost everyone in Brisbane) Then Matt and Joseph talk about what they've each done to their cars this week, starting with Joseph talking about his new Rays Wheels finally showing up and getting fitted on his 86, as well as his new brakes getting fitted (and engineered!). Matt then talks about what he's done, or rather, what issues he's been having with his 105 Cruiser and learns a lesson about buying cheap 4x4 barwork (ie; don't). Matt then introduces a new game; "Scrub For Cars". This week, we're joined by the now regular guest Michael Trew, as well as Ben Sewell of the 'Pencil's Ballercast' podcast. This week we talk about the i30N Fastback Sedan, Lamborghini breaking Porsche's Nurburgring record by more than 2 seconds, the Ranger Raptor's anaemic engine, and comfortable daily hatchbacks, among our trademark banter and bollocks.

Thanks to Mr. Michael Trew who returns again this week, we actually have some beer to talk about as he kindly supplied some beers. One of which was bad, the other was decent. The first topic this week is Trewsy talking about his MX5, which once again, is broken. Matt then gives a brief update on the Project Prado, which is coming along nicely. Mitch then talks about the Ariel Atom 4 to be certified for sale in Australia from 2019, and then we agree that driving a car and driving a car are completely different things. Mitch then talks about Suzuki Australia confirming the confirmation of the new Suzuki Jimny coming to Australia, also from 2019. We then talk about old cars that smell of fuel, and old Toyota Camry's. Matt the asks a question. What JDM classic would you pick; FD RX7, R32 GTR, Mk4 Supra, or a (stock) S13 Silvia. Joseph then talks about Kia's recall of yellow Stinger's, whose paint is prone to cracking. We then take a question from Grant, one of our listeners, about tyres.

Michael Trew is a singer-songwriter native to the Pacific Northwest. In his formative years, Michael spent time with teacher Chandana Dixit, exploring raaga and classical Indian music. He later formed Autumn Electric, releasing five albums and touring nationally (2008-2015). In 2016, Michael signed with Natural Cut Records to record his debut solo effort Waiting in the Wings, which comes out Nov. 12.
