I'm so pumped to have you back for another episode of Do Life Big! Today's episode is going to be short, sweet, and packed with some serious value. I decided to record this one after I announced that my husband and I are starting the 75 Hard Program. If you haven't caught that bonus episode, go listen to #103 first! So, here's the deal. Lately, I've been hearing from so many of you who are feeling overwhelmed, trying to juggle all the things—kids, work, health, you name it. It's easy to get caught up in that all-or-nothing mentality, where if we can't do it all, we end up doing nothing. But let me tell you, it doesn't have to be that way! That's why today, I'm sharing 5 simple ways to protect your inner peace, especially when life gets chaotic: Start Small: Forget the all-or-nothing mentality. Just start with one tiny change—like drinking more water or moving your body a little each day. Something is always better than nothing. Pair New Habits with Old Ones: Got a good habit already? Use it to build a new one! If you drink tea every night, why not use that time to read a book or listen to something uplifting? Focus on Progress, Not Perfection: Life isn't going to go exactly as planned, and that's okay! Celebrate the small wins, no matter how tiny they seem. Live in the Gain, Not the Gap: Stop comparing yourself to where you think you should be. Instead, focus on how far you've come and celebrate the progress you've made. Surround Yourself with Positivity: Whether it's a supportive Facebook group (like ours!), uplifting podcasts, or daily affirmations, fill your life with things that lift you up. We've got to ditch that all-or-nothing mindset and start embracing the little wins. So grab your cup of tea, and let's get into how you can start making those small but mighty changes that will keep your inner peace intact. Can't wait for you to hear this one! Let's do life big, together. ✨ Join the 75-Day Challenge With Me: kathireuter.com/75 Hey there! Thanks for listening! ⭐ Help me spread the word about Do Life Big! Isn't it funny how things can change in a year? This time last August, we were driving to the beach with our kids and we drove past the Duluth Rowing Club. Fast forward to this summer, and every single week I spend time in a boat with 8 other women of all ages and experience levels. If I've learned anything about being a beginner, you learn by doing, not watching!  That was also my motto when my mom and I took a sourdough class earlier this year, when Drew and I decided to become beekeepers, and when my girls and I tried our hands at starting our very first garden. I have so much to learn in all of these new hobbies, and honestly, it feels so good to be so curious!  Of course, those little imposter feelings can hit deep…. And then I remember I'm not an imposter, I'm simply a human brave enough to be a beginner. So today, I want to walk you through the lessons I'm learning while I find myself being a beginner again, and most importantly how you can invite more joy, curiosity, and NEWness into your life, too. Cheers to never being too old for learning something new! Let's dive into the beginner's playbook! In this episode, we're going to talk about five steps for dealing with failure when you start something new. I love this topic because failure is a given for entrepreneurs, and starting new things is essential for our success. If we cannot handle failure properly and if we don't start new things, entrepreneurship will be unsuccessful. I've been an entrepreneur for 14 years, and I can say that most of the reason I've found success is because I've picked myself up again and again after many failures over the years. I'll share two of my biggest failures with you, so you never feel bad or stupid or worthless after failing. Failure is proof that you're trying, doing your best, and taking action. We don't learn anything when we succeed; we learn and grow when we fail. Action Plan: 1 - Face the fear of failing: Sit with your fears and understand that failure is a growth tool. 2 - Go down the outcome rabbit hole: Explore the worst-case and best-case scenarios of failure to put it in perspective. 3 - Evaluate past failures: Reflect on previous failures and identify the valuable lessons and skills you gained. 4 - Make a plan: Set a goal and create guideposts to stay accountable and overcome your fears. 5 - Take action: Don't let fear paralyze you - take the first small step to move forward. Get in touch with Megan if there is a specific mindset and self-care topics you'd like her to cover. Go down the outcome rabbit holes. Have you ever tried something new and it is so... awkward? You feel like you are faking it and it is just uncomfortable. In this episode, discover the challenges and rewards of adopting new habits and embracing a fresh identity. I share a personal story of when I decided to act like a smart kid, emphasizing James Clear's concept of habits as an embodiment of identity. I discuss how connecting values to desired habits is crucial for long-term integration. I acknowledge the initial awkwardness of adopting new habits and offer the idea that "faking it is making it" as a way to reframe beginner moments. The importance of perseverance in the face of doubt is emphasized. I embrace being a perpetual learner and encourage listeners to bravely embark on their journeys. The episode concludes with wishes for clarity, value-based habit formation, and self-compassion. Embrace the transformative power of "making it" even when it feels awkward! I'm really excited about the new weekly format for this podcast! These episodes will be a mix of new & old, solo & interview segments. Everything will be tied together with a show intro that includes a weekly mindset for you to focus on. This week's mindset is to pace yourself. Rather you're focusing on balancing your life, working on a single goal or building something bigger than yourself, pace is key. Your pursuits are lifelong and not burning out should be the goal underneath everything you're working on. Pacing yourself leads into starting something new. Rita of ritalynn.ca joins me to discuss her approach to do just that. I've added Almost Daily Podcast (ADP) episode 590 to give some extra context to getting started and reshaping your view of failure. Next you'll hear my Cerebral Palsy story (ADP episode 125). CP is part of my life but doesn't define it. It will give you a clearer picture of why I do all of the things that I do. If you are looking to build something bigger than yourself, document your journey or share an idea there's a good chance you're going to want to use social media for it. I give my POV on content - what's working best from both a content creator and marketer's perspective. Next is my review of the book “There's A Hole In My Love Cup” by Sven Erlandson. This is one of my favorite books for working on the relationship you have with yourself. The journal prompts in the book jump started my journaling habit. The music playlists he gives in the book are pretty amazing too. The final topic for this week is becoming a non dieter. I believe this is the ultimate goal of anyone trying to lose weight…they just may not know it yet. Two ADP episodes “566 & 567” go into detail on how to adopt this mindset, while also discussing the differences between this approach and the anti-diet / stop diet culture movement.
