In a world moving at 5G speeds, how do we ensure our children stay grounded in timeless truth? In this heavy-hitting episode of Digital Dad Diaries, host Roosevelt "Rozaay" Butler dives deep into the "Source Code" of fatherhood. Joined by a special guest from the Islamic tradition, we put two of the world's greatest wisdom blueprints side-by-side: the Book of Proverbs from the Bible and the Story of Luqman from the Quran. We aren't just talking about rules; we're talking about Legacy. From establishing an "Identity Anchor" in a sea of social media noise to mastering the "Gentle Giant" balance of discipline and affection, this conversation proves that while the platforms change, the frequency of a godly father remains the same.
This sermon teaches that true gentleness is not weakness but using whatever power, position, or knowledge we have to help others as Jesus did, and that lasting growth in gentleness comes not from self-improvement alone but from being transformed by a close relationship with Christ and remembering how gently he has treated us. Can we help you with your walk with God? We'd love to hear from you! https://www.thebibleway.com/contact
Summer “Stingers” in the North Georgia Mountains: What's Buzzing Around Your Eaves? By Fred Talley, Faith Pest Control Well, neighbors, summer has officially arrived in Jasper. The sun is out, the lake is calling, and if you're like me, you're spending as much time as possible on the back deck or out in the yard. But there's a downside to this beautiful North Georgia weather: The stingers are out in force. Up here in the mountains—from Talking Rock to Big Canoe—summer is the peak season for things that fly, buzz, and pack a punch. At Faith Pest Control, we're getting the calls every day from folks who walked into a yellow jacket nest or found a “paper lantern” hanging over their front door. Here's the breakdown of who's who in the world of North Georgia stinging insects this summer: The “Ground Troublemakers”: Yellow Jackets If there's one bug that can ruin a backyard BBQ faster than a summer thunderstorm, it's the Yellow Jacket. The Hiding Spot: Unlike honeybees, these guys love to build nests in the ground—often in old rodent burrows or under railroad ties. The Danger: They are notoriously cranky. If you run a lawnmower over their “front door,” they'll come out swinging. And unlike a honeybee, a yellow jacket can sting you multiple times without losing its stinger. The “Eavesdroppers”: Paper Wasps You've seen these nests—they look like an upside-down umbrella with open honeycombs. The Hiding Spot: They love our North Georgia architecture! You'll find them under the eaves of your house, behind shutters, or tucked into the corners of your porch. The Behavior: They aren’t quite as aggressive as yellow jackets, but if you get too close while painting or cleaning your windows, they'll defend their home with a painful sting. The “Gentle Giants”: European Hornets These guys are big—sometimes over an inch long—and they can look pretty scary when they're bumping against your porch light at night. The Hiding Spot: They usually nest in hollow trees, but they aren’t above moving into an attic or a wall void if they find a gap in your siding. The “Attraction”: They are the only wasps in our area that are active at night. If you leave your porch lights on, don’t be surprised to see these big fellas circling the glow. The “Drill Bits”: Carpenter Bees While the males don’t have stingers (they're just “all bark and no bite” hovering in your face), the females do. The Damage: Their real “sting” is to your wallet. They bore perfectly round holes into your cedar siding, decks, and fascia boards. If left alone, they'll turn your beautiful mountain home into a piece of Swiss cheese. Fred's “Stay Safe” Summer Tips Before you grab a can of spray and head out there, keep these things in mind: Watch the Flight Path: Before you start weeding or mowing, stand back and watch your yard for a minute. If you see bugs consistently flying in and out of a hole in the ground or a crack in your siding, you've found a nest. Avoid “The Swat”: If a wasp flies near you, try to stay calm. Swatting at them is interpreted as an attack, and that's when they call for backup. Check the Kids’ Playsets: Check under the slides and inside the “fort” area of backyard playsets once a week. These are favorite hiding spots for wasps. Don’t Block the Exit: If you find wasps entering a hole in your house siding, do not caulk that hole shut while they are inside. They will find a way out—and “out” might mean chewing through your drywall into your living room! We've Got the Gear to Handle It Look, I know a lot of folks like to “DIY” their pest control, but when it comes to stinging insects, it can get dangerous fast—especially if you have an undiscovered allergy. At Faith Pest Control, we have the protective gear and the specialized treatments to knock out these nests safely. We live and work right here in Jasper, and we want to make sure your summer stays fun and sting-free. Give us a shout at Faith Pest Control, and let's keep those “mountain stingers” in the woods where they belong! The post Summer “Stingers” in the North Georgia Mountains: What's Buzzing Around Your Eaves? first appeared on Faith Pest Control.
The eco-tourism that is helping to protect mountain gorillas in Uganda.Myra Anubi is in Uganda visiting the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. It's one of the few places that gorillas still exist in the wild, and even better, in recent years their numbers have actually been rising and they are no longer considered critically endangered. This is partly down to the hard work of Dr Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka and the Conservation Through Public Health organisation. They engage with communities living close to the gorillas, who were often poaching them and destroying their habitat, to help them better understand the animals and tap into the potential for eco-tourism. They also encourage other forms of enterprise, supporting local coffee farmers with training and investment.Myra meets former poachers now involved in conservation and speaks with local farmers - often women - who look after the coffee plantations. She talks to the village conservation teams involved in protecting the gorillas. And of course, goes into the forest to get a glimpse of these incredible creatures herself.People Fixing The World from the BBC is about brilliant solutions to the world's problems.

Michael welcomes returning guest Lars Kure Juul, author of The Happiness Sweet Spot and his new book Compassion in Action, to discuss why leaders gravitated most to the compassion chapter and how it led to deeper work on self-compassion and implementation.Lars argues compassion is active (beyond empathy): interest in others' difficulties plus a desire to act, building trust, psychological safety, and high-performing teams. They explore leadership challenges amid rising burnout, declining engagement and belonging (citing Gallup), and why strong leaders aren't loud.Practical themes include presence and deep listening, avoiding distractions like phones and laptops, asking better questions (“tell me more”), and servant leadership as serving others and the future by downplaying ego. They critique leaders hiding behind complex systems, emphasize belonging (seen, able to contribute, proud), and frame compassion and humanity as the next leadership revolution.Connect with Lars:https://www.gntlgiant.com/https://www.linkedin.com/in/gntlgiant/?miniProfileUrn=urn%3Ali%3Afs_miniProfile%3AACoAAAASe5YB8EcFe2HlD2gLYVSp9OeaRmTXCxcConnect with the podcastJoin the Hospitality Mavericks newsletterTune in via your favourite podcast platform - here More episodes for you to check out here A big thank you to our episode sponsor Monotree. They help hospitality operators strengthen operations and scale company culture by creating a "Branded Front Door" for your workforce.Head to their website to sign up.This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podcorn - https://podcorn.com/privacy

Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com Robin: EVERYTHING WAS HOLY…. What are five things no one would know about Burt Ward who played Robin in the TV show Batman? ### 1. **A Speed-Reading Sensation** Before hitting the big time, young Burt became an accomplished speed-reader. He was tested before the American Medical Society in Beverly Hills and clocked a staggering **30,000 words per minute with 90% comprehension**—far beyond average reading speeds. ([Classic Movie Hub - CMH][1], [TV Banter][2]) --- ### 2. **World's Youngest Professional Ice Skater** At just **two years old**, Burt was featured in the magazine *Strange as It Seems* as the **world's youngest professional ice skater**, thanks to a traveling ice show owned by his father. ([Wikipedia][3], [Classic Movie Hub - CMH][1]) --- ### 3. **He Did (Most of) His Own Dangerous Stunts** Unlike many stars, Burt performed most of his own stunts, even though his face made using a stunt double difficult. This led to multiple emergency room visits—**dozens**, he says—due to injuries from stunts like being tied to a table with a real buzz saw inches away or suspended above Bengal tigers. ([Wikipedia][3], [Express][4]) A Reddit user humorously shared one of Burt's more wild stories, recalling how during one stunt he was flung from the Batmobile when the door unexpectedly opened—and cracked an arm. ([Reddit][5]) --- ### 4. **Musical Collaborations with Frank Zappa** During *Batman*'s peak, Burt recorded several tracks produced by Tom Wilson and arranged by Frank Zappa. Notably, he released a single featuring "Boy Wonder, I Love You" (written by Zappa) and a cover of "Orange Colored Sky." ([Wikipedia][3], [Classic Movie Hub - CMH][1]) --- ### 5. **Rescue Work for Giant-Breed Dogs** Beyond Hollywood, Burt—and his wife Tracy—devoted themselves to canine welfare. In **1994**, they founded *Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions*, significantly impacting the lives of giant-breed dogs. Their nonprofit has facilitated **over 15,500 adoptions** and often houses around **50 dogs at home** awaiting forever families. ([Wikipedia][3], [People.com][6]) Additionally, their company *Gentle Giants* produces natural pet food aimed at boosting pets' longevity and wellbeing. ([People.com][6]) --- ### Bonus Tidbits: * Burt actually chose his own stage name: swapping “Gervis” for *Ward* (his mother's maiden name) and altering “Bert” to “Burt” because it had more punch. ([Wikipedia][3], [Classic Movie Hub - CMH][1]) * He holds a **Guinness World Record** for portraying the same live-action superhero in the most episodes (120 as Robin). ([Facts.net][7], [The Famous People][8]) * In **2020**, Burt received a star on the **Hollywood Walk of Fame**—a fitting tribute to the iconic Boy Wonder. ([Hollywood Walk of Fame][9]) To understand the deep meaning of redemption in Greek scripture, it is essential to explore the key terms used by New Testament writers, primarily agorazō and its cognates (exagorazō), and lytron with its related forms (apolytrōsis, lytrōsis). These words paint a picture of redemption as a decisive, costly, and legally binding rescue from the slavery of sin and its consequences. Key Greek words for redemption Agorazō (ἀγοράζω) and exagorazō (ἐξαγοράζω) The verb agorazō means "to buy or purchase" and is derived from agora, the Greek marketplace or slave market. The related verb exagorazō, which means "to buy out or buy from," intensifies this meaning. Bought at a price: The use of agorazō emphasizes that humanity was on the auction block of sin but has been purchased by Christ. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 6:20, "For you were bought with a price" (ēgorasthēte timēs), underscoring the high cost of this purchase. Freedom from the Law: The more intensive term exagorazō highlights a targeted purchase designed to remove something or someone from their previous state. For example, Galatians 4:5 says Christ came to "redeem those who were under the law" (exagorazō tous hupo nomon). This signifies not just a general purchase but a deliberate act of freeing people from the curse and bondage of the Law. Lytron (λύτρον), apolytrōsis (ἀπολύτρωσις), and lytrōsis (λύτρωσις) This cluster of words emphasizes the idea of a ransom payment that brings about release. Lytron (ransom price): Lytron specifically refers to the monetary price paid to free a slave or captive. In Matthew 20:28 and Mark 10:45, Jesus says he came "to give his life as a ransom (lytron) for many," directly comparing his death to a payment made to secure the freedom of others. Apolytrōsis (completed redemption): The preposition apo is an intensifier, making apolytrōsis a "stronger form" of the word that denotes a complete and finalized liberation. This is the word used when describing the future, full redemption of believers' bodies at the resurrection (Romans 8:23) and the day of ultimate redemption (Ephesians 4:30). Lytrōsis (the experience of release): This noun refers to the deliverance or liberation that results from the payment of a ransom. Hebrews 9:12 explains that Christ "obtained eternal redemption (lytrōsis) for us". The holistic and progressive nature of redemption The deep meaning of redemption in the Greek New Testament moves beyond a simple, one-time transaction to a multi-faceted and progressive work of God. Past: An accomplished fact The price for sin has been paid through Christ's death on the cross, accomplishing a decisive and objective redemption for all believers. The sacrifice of Christ is the ultimate ransom (lytron), securing our justification and the forgiveness of sins (Romans 3:24). Present: An ongoing reality The power of redemption is at work in believers' lives, delivering them from sin's power and purifying them to be a people for God's possession (Titus 2:14). As part of this transformation, believers are no longer slaves to sin but bondservants of righteousness (Romans 6:18). Future: A complete deliverance Redemption is not yet fully realized. Believers "groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies" (Romans 8:23). The final stage of redemption will be the complete liberation from corruption and the resurrection of our bodies when Christ returns (Luke 21:28). A covenantal and communal significance Understanding the Greek word for redemption also brings with it significant implications for our relationship with God and others. A treasured possession (peripoiēsis) 1 Peter 2:9 refers to believers as "a people for his own possession (peripoiēsis)." The Greek term highlights that God did not simply purchase us to release us, but to acquire and preserve us as his treasured property. This identity echoes the Old Testament concept of Israel as God's segullah, his special, prized possession. Motivating holiness - HOLY MOTIVATION BATMAN The knowledge that we belong to God motivates believers to live holy lives and not grieve the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30). The infinite cost of our redemption, the blood of Christ (1 Peter 1:18–19), calls believers to live not for themselves but for Christ.
