That's the sum total of much of today's show. In all seriousness, the GOP social media scene (which is not reality) was on fire all weekend long on stories of infidelity, inappropriate public behavior, and interview answers from Trump on gender and abortion that Stigall tries to handle in a nuanced way. Of course, in 2023 - political nuance is mostly dead. But he soldiers on nevertheless. Plus, a vicious and cold blooded killing in Vegas, John Fetterman further erodes any shred of dignity left in Congress, and Russell Brand is accused of rape all of the sudden. - For more info visit the official website: https://chrisstigall.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chrisstigallshow/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChrisStigall Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/chris.stigall/ Listen on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/StigallPod Listen on Apple Podcasts: https://bit.ly/StigallShowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

I'm back! I took a 2-month vacation but now I am back with my San Diego Local News podcast. We will cover Poway Road Canyonization, San Diego Housing Crisis, Micro Units, Vacant Homes, Pt Loma Gay Marriage, Ben Kalasho in El Cajon, Escondido Joor Muffler Man, National City Bike Lanes, Snapdragon Stadium, CA's Flavored Tobacco Ban Backfiring and more! It's Wednesday September 6, 2023. Here's what John Riley thinks: Poway Road Canyonization Powegians are freaking out about all the development along Poway Rd. The 4-story Fairfield development is going in at the site of the former Poway Bowl and thrift stores. A recent letter to the editor said it was the “canyonization” of Poway Rd with tall buildings on either side. https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/pomerado-news/opinion/letters-to-the-editor/story/2023-08-29/our-readers-write North Park Micro Units An apartment building in North Park has an innovative approach to helping solve the San Diego Housing Crisis. Their micro units of approx. 600-800 sq ft offer an upgraded, minimalist living environment. The complex has very few parking spaces. They hope residents will use mass transit, bikes, or walking. https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/business/story/2023-08-27/micro-unit-apartment-building-north-park San Diego Vacant Homes Are evil rich people squatting on vacant homes and keeping them off the market? Well, there are 16 million vacant homes in America and only 500,000 homeless. That makes sense in the Rust Belt, but not in San Diego. Less than 1% of housing units are vacant for more than 6 months a year. Even if they were fully occupied it would barely put a dent in the housing crisis. https://sdhc.org/news-release/residential-vacancies-study-published/?fbclid=IwAR0STswGoFGw2zCkLIhpJ1kbuiL4sIFFDiz6mEHo96MDqBveJdJ4LBdbBag https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/opinion/editorials/story/2023-08-11/san-diego-housing-package-gloria-sb-10-homelessness-poverty Pt Loma Gay Marriage A pastor at Point Loma Nazarene University was fired from his post for disagreeing with church doctrine on gay marriage. Wait…  didn't Christ preach about loving thy neighbor? Why is the church so slow to evolve? https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/religion/story/2023-08-18/san-diego-nazarene-pastor-fired-for-same-sex-marriage-stance Ben Kalasho, former El Cajon Councilman, wanted for arrest Former El Cajon City Councilman, Ben Kalasho, is wanted by the police. He and his wife were busted for contempt of court and failed to show up for his 8-day jail sentence. This is a guy that used fake social media profiles to disparage local residents and business…  while he was on city council. He also runs the Miss Middle East USA Pageant and reportedly failed to pay the winner the prize money….  And, get this, offered another contestant a rigged win if she slept with him. Where is Dog the Bounty Hunter? https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/watchdog/story/2023-09-01/arrest-warrants-issued-ben-kalasho-el-cajon Escondido Joor Muffler Man Every time I drive through Escondido I smile when I see that big statue of the guy holding the muffler. In this episode, we are bringing in Noelle McBride, who talks about navigating divorce in the context of a very conservative religion.Noelle McBride was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. After being blessed with three children during a 17-year marriage, she went through a difficult and heartbreaking divorce. Despite this hardship, Noelle experienced much healing and hope in her personal life through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Desiring to help others navigate the same trial, Noelle shares the promises and peace of the gospel in her book Beauty for Ashes: Divorce and the Latter-day Saint Woman. She is a professional motivational speaker and teacher with over 20 years of experience counseling many women in groups and one-on-one. Noelle currently leads workshops for women focused on overcoming the trials and the hardships of divorce based on gospel principles. She currently serves as an ordinance worker in the Seattle Temple and in the Stake Relief Society Presidency. After a season as a single parent, Noelle eventually remarried a widower in the Columbia River Temple. They are now raising all 6 of their children together and learning the joys of navigating a blended family. On rainy days you can find her curled up in front of a fire with a warm cup of tea and a good book.Ready for hope, peace, freedom, and support after crisis in your relationship? Aug. 1 marks the 10th anniversary of marriage equality in Minnesota, a long-fought battle that made Minnesota the 12th state to give LGBTQ+ people equal marriage rights. The very first legal same-sex wedding that took place in Minnesota ten years ago today was between Margaret Miles and Cathy ten Broeke's wedding at midnight at Minneapolis City Hall. They were married, surrounded by a crowd of people, by former Minneapolis Mayor R. T. Rybak, who married 46 other couples in the City Hall rotunda in the wee hours of that morning. One Minnesotan who fought for those rights is Monica Meyer. Monica worked with Minnesotans United for All Families and OutFront Minnesota, which are LGBTQ equality nonprofits. She joined MPR News host Cathy Wurzer to reflect on the fight for marriage equality in Minnesota.Use the audio player above to listen to the full conversation.Subscribe to the Minnesota Now podcast on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.   We attempt to make transcripts for Minnesota Now available the next business day after a broadcast. We have never laughed this hard before during an episode. Which seems ironic because we are talking about S.E.X. and answering a question  you asked regarding how we talk to our kids about sex in a more inclusive way. While we aren't experts, we can share our experiences. For context, here is the question that was submitted: “I feel it's important to talk to our children openly about sex and boundaries.  My oldest son told us he was gay a couple years ago. I would love for you guys to talk about how to address that with our kids whose sex lives might look different than our own. What does your ex husband wish he would have known? Honestly I hear a lot about talking to your kids about it, but they only talk about how to address "traditional" male/female sex. What do we need to educate our child differently? Where are those resources?” ⭐️ Ready to trust your gut after any form of betrayal? Today we're talking about Riley Gaines' recent run-in with trans activists at San Francisco State University. Gaines, an athlete who famously competed against Lia Thomas, gave a speech on fairness in sports, but what started as a peaceful event turned violent when a trans protester punched her in the face. She was then chased down by a screaming mob who trapped her in a room for hours and claimed she couldn't leave until they were given money. We discuss why violent events like this tend to stem from trans hatred of women and how there probably won't be consequences (but why it's good that she's pursuing consequences anyway). The good news is that normal people are starting to realize how ridiculous it all is. Another example of men skipping the line is a British man who identifies as a woman who has gained accolades for his mediocre ballet, being accepted to a prestigious dance academy. Meanwhile Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird, who are both successful female athletes, are fighting for men to compete against women. We explain why affirming lies is evil, no matter how kind you think you're being.
