Welcome to another episode of Thrive in 40, a quick tip to kickstart your week in 40 seconds or less. In this episode, Jennifer Tracy, writing coach and host of the MILF Podcast, shares her tip to get out of your head and reconnect to your body. Something I didn’t know or learn until I was in my late 30s was how not in my body I was, just really walking around in my head and my thoughts and not in touch with the wisdom of my feminine body. And so once I did learn that through a form of movement, it changed everything, it changed the way I told my stories, it changed the way I stood in my own story, so I just wanna invite you wherever you are to put your hand on your chest where your heart is and breathe. Just feel into your body and continue that through the rest of your day because she has wisdom to share with you and she has stories to tell. Jennifer hosts a very special edition of the MILF Podcast, as she reflects on a recent occurrence in her life: her son’s diagnosis with ADHD. Although this diagnosis did not come as a complete shock to Jennifer, it made sense to her. Throughout the years, her son has struggled academically and, at times, with panic and anxiety attacks, so this diagnosis served as a revelation for Jennifer and her son. Jennifer opens up with complete vulnerability as she shares what it has been like going through the motions of this experience. She talks about testing, visits to psychologists and medical doctors, research, and the value of properly prescribed and moderated medication. Like all great parents, Jennifer puts her son’s happiness and well-being above all else. That is why she chose today’s episode to share such a personal and intimate story from her life. We hope you enjoy today’s episode and take advantage of the resources linked at the bottom. Full show notes: https://milfpodcast.com/70
“Always listen to your heart, because even though it’s on your left side, it’s always right.” — Nicholas Sparks On this episode, I reveal the surprising true story behind the creation of Sex Ed The Musical. I don’t want to give too much away right here. Let’s just say it required a fuckton of failure, a lie to some big-time studio executives and staring at someone a lot smarter than me. Not necessarily in that order. QUESTIONS THAT WILL BE ANSWERED IN THE NEXT 9 MINUTES What really sparked the idea for this podcast? Why is your past not at all relevant to your future? Exactly how many Shamans do I know? And in case an episode of just me talking about me isn’t enough me, below is a link to me talking about me with someone else who’s not me. Here I am on the MILF Podcast also explaining the story behind this podcast, except much longer and to someone a lot taller than me. Did you ever tell a lie about yourself that actually turned out to be true? Share your story in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.

Finally, Jennifer reflects on the importance she places on kindness, compassion, and empathy. Full show notes: https://milfpodcast.com/50
Every once in a while you meet someone who stops you in your tracks and forces you to take notice. That's what happened to me when I first met Jennifer Tracy. Jen was a guest at The Self Care Project, an event I co-hosted in late 2018. Here I was, standing on the stage, watching the ladies in front of me receive all of the gifts our incredible speakers were sharing. Jennifer was light a ray of light, embracing the day like no one else. I knew I needed to meet this woman and hear her story. Well you are in for a real treat! The rich, complex, and sometimes messy lives we lead as women allow us to birth remarkable stories and experiences. And those are the stories that heal us and connect us to one another. We need that more than ever. There is no “village” to raise our kids. We create the village; on the internet; in our kids’ schools. Within these communities, we find the antidote to feeling profound isolation. Providing listeners with the conversations on MILF podcast is a way for me to help mitigate that isolation for moms in all stages of motherhood. At least for one hour. I never felt so alone as when I was first home from the hospital, by myself with my newborn, and I was certain that I was already failing. No one was telling me that, but no one was there to tell me that I wasn’t. I needed support. I didn’t have it. I didn’t know how to ask for support. This is ultimately why I created the MILF Podcast, it’s why I’m a novelist, and it’s why I’m driven to bring women together to create powerful connection and community with them. (I also like to push boundaries of societal norms and what is “appropriate” for women’s roles, which is why I chose the acronym MILF as the name of the show. Not only did I want to turn MILF (and its original definition) on its head, reclaiming and redefining our sexuality as women with children, but I also had a deep desire to embolden femininity in its most powerful form (creating and sustaining life through our divine sexual bodies) and the fierce strength of that which translates to so many other creative forms. I’ve also learned everything I know about motherhood by literally Following other Moms who paved the way before me or alongside me. Much of my formative years were spent as a film student in Boston, France, and Australia, and then I moved to Los Angeles to work as an actress. I pressed pause on that path when I became a mother. After giving birth to my son in 2009, I used writing as a form of survival and therapy, exploring motherhood, postpartum depression, and its struggles. Telling my story in essays and articles online ultimately inspired me to write my first novel which ultimately led to working with other writers who are finding their voices in story which then led to starting this podcast and hearing the stories of brilliant women I’d love to follow every week who are also figuring out how to balance motherhood and their creative lives as entrepreneurs, artists, and badass women! In a very special edition of the MILF Podcast, Jennifer reflects on her year and all that 2018 brought with it. Over the past year, she experienced great joy, as well as great pain. However, there has been one constant in her life that she is beyond grateful for, and that constant is love. Love is the great connector that binds us all together and affects our lives in profound and indescribable ways. Jennifer takes the audience through her journey of romantic heartbreak, the loss of a dear friend, and the key to self-love. She is a true believer that everyone loves differently and that is not a bad thing. We all love in ways that are specific to our own unique experiences and personalities. Finally, she talks about the amazing journey she began when she decided to launch this podcast. Jennifer is a staunch proponent of the healing power of story. Her goal in starting the MILF Podcast was to provide a safe forum for mothers to share their stories. As she so eloquently states, the healing power of story is essential, not only to the MILF Podcast, but to life. As we enter the New Year, Jennifer gives a genuine and heartfelt thank you to the audience and everyone in her life that have shared in her love. Cheers to 2019 and what lies ahead!
