Although we picked up on some nice points over the course of our reading, we didn't have time to analyze it in-depth. That will have to wait until next week (בג"ה).---מקורות:משלי כה:יאLenn E. Rambam's philosophical work, Moreh Nevuchim (the Guide for the Perplexed) was initially decried as heretical and kicked off the Maimonidean Controversy that pitted rationalism against tradition. Although few truly oppose The Moreh nowadays, it is still apprached with caution in many Jewish circles. What is the Rebbe's Shita regarding Moreh Nevuchim? Should we study the Guide for the Perplexed and, if so, how and when should we learn it?

Welcome back to the fifth installment of our bite-sized journey through the teachings of the Rambam. In this episode, we explore the idea that Rambam, early in his life, harbored an ambition to write two significant pieces of work – a book of prophecy and a book of explaining Rabbinic writings. However, he realized that the feat was beyond his capacity. Instead, he embarked on the road to write this guide, particularly focusing on the first part, which deals with explaining and clarifying terms as a substitute for going through the individual books. The process of piecing together the significant principles that would otherwise have formed chapters in other books, now strengthens the chapters of the guide. These are organized meticulously, although that may not immediately strike the reader. It's a journey filled with flashes of enlightenment that gradually illuminates your understanding. The guide also touches on the importance of analogies, frequently used by the prophets and the rabbis. Just as King Solomon tapped into the power of analogies and built layers upon layers of understanding, so too does Rambam help the learners trace the bigger picture. Indeed, the secrets of the Torah may be right in front of us, but we require the light of analogies to reveal them. Analogies serve as a light that illuminates the hidden jewels of wisdom contained within the divine texts. So, join us as we continue on this path towards the knowledge of God, making sense of the divine knowledge through the guidance offered by Rambam. Moreh Nevuchim - Guide for the Perplexed: Episode 5 - How to Discover the Secrets of Torah An 8 part series going through the 4 introductions of Rambam's classical Jewish philosophical text.
