Guest: Kelly Cassels What should you be doing today to be able to celebrate a meaningful Father's Day in the future? I had an awesome conversation with my brother-in-law Kelly about how to move past the anger and hurt from the past to a place of experiencing the joy of being a dad with a family that loves and appreciates you! Kelly and I both agree that the most important thing you can do is to get your life right with the Lord - to accept the free gift of forgiveness and salvation made available through His only and only Son Jesus Christ! Once that relationship has been forged, then prayerfully ask God to help you be the man that He has created and designed for you to be - and be ready to see God at work! And Scripture tells you how valuable a meaningful relationship of an older man with a younger man is to the wellbeing of both! Titus 2 tells us that an older man should be teaching younger men. If you're an older guy, look to discipline a younger man. If you're a younger guy, find an older man walking with the Lord and glean wisdom from him. And finally, just a word of encouragement to that older guy who looks back over his shoulder and sees a wake of disappointment left behind - today is the day of salvation and transformation - God isn't done with you yet! Surrender your life to the Lord and ask God to restore the years the locust has eaten - and see what He will do! T4M guys - just a reminder that Training4Manhood is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) ministry and you can make donations either via Zelle (info@training4manhood.com) or by visiting the Training4Manhood website.

What happens when a gifted person becomes dissatisfied with the assignment God has given them? In this episode of Silent Leaks, we explore one of the most sobering stories in Scripture—the rebellion of Korah in Numbers 16. At first glance, Korah's argument sounds reasonable. He speaks of equality, fairness, and shared leadership. But beneath his words was a hidden leak: resentment. Korah was not an outsider. He was already chosen, already serving, and already blessed. Yet he became consumed with what God had given someone else. What began as comparison turned into jealousy. Jealousy became bitterness. Bitterness became rebellion. And rebellion brought destruction. This message challenges us to examine the hidden places of our hearts: Have we become dissatisfied with God's assignment for our lives? Are we celebrating others' success or secretly resenting it? Have we confused position with purpose? Are we seeking influence, or are we faithfully serving where God has planted us? Through the story of Korah, we discover that some of the most dangerous sins are not the ones everyone sees, but the ones that quietly grow beneath the surface. Resentment is a silent leak that can drain gratitude, distort perspective, and damage relationships before anyone notices. Join Pastor Dr. Peter Eley as he unpacks the spiritual danger of comparison, the power of contentment, and the importance of embracing the calling God has uniquely given you. This was a Space Show program featuring Chris Carberry, co-founder and CEO of ExploreMars, discussing space policy, Mars exploration, and his new book “Future Spacefaring Society.” Chris explained that Explore Mars has always been agnostic on launch vehicle selection, supporting both SLS/Orion and Starship/Blue Origin developments while advocating for lunar missions that deliberately advance Mars capabilities. The discussion covered current NASA budget challenges, the need for entry descent and landing technology development, and the potential for human settlement on Mars in the 2030s through a hybrid approach combining NASA and private sector capabilities. Chris also promoted the upcoming Humans to Moon and Mars Summit in Houston, Texas, which will focus on topics like food systems, commercial space capabilities, and physical/mental health challenges for lunar and Martian missions. The Space Show Presents Rick Fisher, Tuesday, June 9, 2026Quick SummaryThe Space Show featured a discussion with national security consultant Rick Fisher about China's space program and its implications for national security. Rick explained that space has become a major component of American global national security considerations, with China positioning itself either as a major antagonist or cooperative partner depending on Earth-based conflicts. He detailed China's lunar program, including their Lanyue lunar lander and their manned capsule, while warning that Chinese dual-use systems on the moon could potentially extend Earth conflicts to lunar territory. The conversation covered China's energy independence efforts through nuclear fission, space solar power, and fusion energy development, as well as their reusable rocket capabilities with 20-25 Chinese companies developing reusable launch vehicles similar to SpaceX's approach. Rick also discussed the Artemis program's goals of establishing a semi-permanent presence on the moon by 2036, requiring 79-81 space launches and approximately $30 billion in total investment. The discussion concluded with analysis of Taiwan's potential response to Chinese aggression and the role of other Asian countries like India and Japan in balancing Chinese space ambitions.Detailed SummaryDavid and Rick discussed the role of space in national security, particularly regarding China's lunar program and its implications for Taiwan and the South China Sea. They also touched on UAPs (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena), with John contributing insights about China's interest in UAPs and the government's handling of the topic. The conversation highlighted differing perspectives on the significance of UAPs and the potential motivations behind government secrecy regarding the subject.David, Rick, and John discussed concerns about Chinese influence and espionage in the United States, including allegations against politicians like Feinstein and a California politician. They questioned why such activities are tolerated despite being known. The conversation then shifted to SpaceX's upcoming IPO and its performance. The conversation continued with the guest continuing to discuss China's space program and its broader implications for national security.Rick discussed the increasing importance of space in American national security, particularly in relation to China's space activities. He explained that space has become a determinant factor in global security, with both countries positioning themselves as either antagonists or cooperative partners. He praised President Trump's focus on returning to the moon through the Artemis program as a way to deter conflict and secure American access to space. He noted that Trump's second-term goal of establishing a permanent presence on the moon could help prevent conflicts not only on the moon but also in low Earth orbit and potentially on Earth.Rick was asked about China's energy strategies and vulnerabilities, explaining that China's reliance on oil passing through the Straits of Hormuz presents a strategic weakness. He detailed China's multi-pronged energy approach including nuclear fission plants, space solar power research, and fusion energy development. When asked about space-based data centers, he indicated China is following the American trend with plans to launch such facilities in the near future, potentially on a large scale to support AI functions on Earth. The discussion was cut off before John's question about potential lunar conflict could be addressed. Our guest discussed the potential risks and challenges associated with China's lunar lander program, particularly regarding the Lanyue lunar lander and its propulsion stage, which could pose hazards to other lunar missions or bases. He highlighted the need for deconfliction and transparency from China regarding their lunar lander operations. Rick also mentioned the deployment of hopper drones by both the United States and China around the moon, noting the potential for these to be modified for combat purposes if tensions escalate on Earth.China's potential space ambitions were brought to our attention, noting that if China were willing to use technology for political intimidation in low Earth orbit, they might extend similar activities to lunar or Martian environments. John suggested that getting to space first could provide an advantage in staking territorial claims. Dr. Kothari asked three questions about China's plans: circumnavigating the moon with astronauts in 2027, deploying thorium molten salt reactors for terrestrial use, and developing reusable rockets. Rick acknowledged limited knowledge about China's reactor plans but noted that China has 20-25 companies working on reusable space vehicles, with the potential for first stage recovery this year.Rick discussed China's space launch vehicle developments, focusing on the Long March 12, Long March 10, and the proposed Long March 9. He explained that Long March 10 could become a popular reusable launch vehicle, while the three-stage Long March 9, if developed, would be the world's most powerful space launch vehicle with a massive 19-meter payload fairing. Rick speculated that China might be developing the three-stage Long March 9 to avoid the complexity of low Earth orbit refueling required for Elon Musk's Starship, though he acknowledged that many technical details about its feasibility remain unknown.Rick discussed the potential impact of China's Long March 9 rocket on SpaceX's Starship, noting that while the first stage would be reusable, it remained unclear whether China would pursue reusability for the second stage. When asked about credible resistance movements in China, Richard explained that while there is a will among some people to resist the government, the Chinese Communist Party effectively prevents such movements through extensive digital surveillance and control systems. He compared China's digital surveillance capabilities to Iran's and highlighted how Israel's ability to take control of Iran's digital systems and use them against the regime should serve as a warning to China about potential threats from Taiwan and Israel.Ajay asked Rick about Taiwanese opinions on potential reunification with China. Rick explained that while many Taiwanese benefit economically from China relations, over 90% of the population values their democratic freedoms and would not willing give them up to become part of a Chinese communist dictatorship. He noted that the Chinese Communist Party's failure to acknowledge historical atrocities under Mao, including the deaths of 50-70 million people, undermines their historical appeals to Taiwanese people.Rick talked about the potential for Asian and oceanic countries like India and Australia to balance China's space activities through collaboration with the United States and the Artemis program. He noted that as these countries develop their own heavy launch vehicles, they will gain more autonomy to pursue lunar and Mars programs independently of potential Chinese-American conflicts. Richard also praised NASA's Artemis program revealed on March 23, which aims to establish a semi-permanent presence on the moon by 2036 through 79-81 space launches and $30 billion total investment, describing it as essential for winning the race to the moon and potentially deterring Chinese aggression. Our guest also discussed the relationship between China's space program and the US, noting that while competition exists, cooperation could follow a similar path to Cold War-era US-Soviet relations. He expressed confidence that the Artemis program would continue regardless of political party in power, though funding levels might vary. Richard believed the program would maintain strategic importance in the Earth-Moon-Mars system and would only be disrupted by major global conflicts. The conversation ended with David thanking Rick for his participation and discussing upcoming shows featuring Chris Carberry from Explore Mars and guests from Peruvian satellite systems and Luxembourg.Special thanks to our sponsors:American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Helix Space in Luxembourg, Celestis Memorial Spaceflights, Astrox Corporation, Dr. Haym Benaroya of Rutgers University, The Space Settlement Progress Blog by John Jossy, The Atlantis Project, and Artless EntertainmentOur Toll Free Line for Live Broadcasts: 1-866-687-7223 (Not in service at this time)For real time program participation, email Dr. Space at: drspace@thespaceshow.com for instructions and access. The Space Show is a non-profit 501C3 through its parent, One Giant Leap Foundation, Inc. In San Francisco, 2014, four great storytellers took the RISK! stage at SF Sketch Fest: Stephen Tobolowsky was directing the New York premiere of The Miss Firecracker Contest with Holly Hunter in the lead and a stalker with a ticket for opening night. The question of whether to go on becomes a different question entirely when Holly disappears into the basement holding what looks like a butcher knife. Dana Gould spent years as pen pal and friend to Maila Nurmi, the actress who invented Vampira, destitute and barely known, living in a converted garage. He reads from the last letter he wrote her. (Content note: child sexual abuse) Nato Green landed a yard-work job at 16, took about fifteen years to figure out what his employer actually wanted, and has some thoughts on what actually protects kids. Brendon Walsh got his hat ruined, his face rearranged, his brass knuckles confiscated, and his name put on a court docket, in that order. Today, Greg Fisher takes us back to the Appalachian Trail in the 1960s, when he and two other 16-year-olds took a 17-day hike on the trail in New Hampshire, taking in the awesome Franconia Ridge along the way. For Greg, that led to a more than 50 year love of the trail that continues to this day. He shares his stories with Steve as he looks back on that long history, returning to it earlier this year when he reunited with his hiking buddy, Doc, for the first time in over 20 years. Today on Black Dragon Biker TV: Full Patch Outcast MC Brother Challenges Jake Lang to Mutual Combat We break down the viral video where a patched Outcast MC member steps to Jake Lang at a rally for Karmelo Anthony. Lang refuses the mutual combat challenge. We also examine Lang's hateful rhetoric at the rally (blaming Black mothers for Austin Metcalf's death) — especially ironic considering he was recently saved by a Black man during a chaotic incident in Minneapolis. This raises bigger questions for Black 1%ers in today's racially charged climate: What role should we play instead of fighting each other? Raw talk. No filter. Join the discussion.
In this week's episode we discuss the issue of what does it mean being part of the process in terms of explaining Torah and psak. Two stories from people who found themselves in situations they didn't choose and had to figure out what to do from inside them. Guest-hosted by the captivating Cyndi Freeman. (Content note: references to torture) Sofia Javed is a Pakistani-American interpreter hired to work in Uzbek and Russian at Guantanamo Bay, where she is ordered not to sympathize with detainees and then immediately put to the test. What starts as a potential crisis in a cellblock turns on a single, surprisingly mundane demand. (Content note: physical abuse, domestic violence) Heather Minter grew up in an evangelical fundamentalist family that uprooted itself for the mission field in Papua New Guinea, leaving her and her brother in a boarding school dorm run by a cruel and volatile house father. The faith that held her together through childhood eventually came apart in college, and what filled the void turned out to be its own kind of trap. Sometimes a fish is just a fish, but sometimes it's a euphemism. At least, that's the disagreement in the Gemara. What is the basis of this disagreement, and what does it teach us? Here's my approach.-----The Torah content for the month of Iyyar is sponsored by Naomi Schwartz Rothschild in memory of her mother, Breindel Bracha bas Mordechai z”l, whose yahrzeit falls on the 8th of Iyyar. We raised a ton of questions, developed some excellent ideas and half-ideas, and rounded it out with three meforshim, including a surprisingly counterintuitive read from the Metzudas David. And with that, we have finished our SIXTH year of Monday Night Mishlei, our 17th chapter of Mishlei, and the last pasuk in the "second book of Mishlei." That's right: we've had shiur on every single pasuk in Chapters 10 through 24 (with 25 slated to finish on Thursday). NSFC: Spirituality, Sex, and Longing in the Song of Songs 2/6 Rev. Dr. Katie Hays The Earth is Sexy. The SoS overflows with imagery from the natural world – flora and fauna, sights and smells, an extravaganza (orgy?) of appreciation for a well-watered spring. The lovers meet and make out (make love?) outside; they compare each other's beauty to things they've seen in nature; nature stirs their desire for each other. Can this sexy appreciation of the earth lead us to a love that drives care, justice, and reclamation of our planetary home? 10/10 Minute Bible Study and Prayer Daily (SafeHouse Church)
In this powerful episode, we examine the three ways Scripture reveals the enemy: the devil who accuses the brethren, the devil who studies our weaknesses and tempts us through lust, pride, desire, and deception, and the devil whom Jesus has already defeated. Through passages such as Revelation 12:10, James 1:14–15, 1 John 2:16, Hebrews 2:14–15, Colossians 2:15, and Revelation 22:14, this message reminds us that Satan may accuse, tempt, and attack, but he does not have the final word. Jesus Christ has conquered sin, broken the chains of bondage, and restored our access to life, freedom, and victory. This episode is a call to recognize the enemy's devices, reject condemnation, resist temptation, and walk boldly in the freedom Christ has already won. The devil is real, but he is also defeated. Through Jesus, we are free—and we have the right to the Tree of Life. offering : Zelle: offering@safehousechurchgso Cash app: @safehousechurchgso Paypal: paypal.me/ministryaid
Power Up: **Acts 8:4–10 (KJV)**Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city. But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.In this episode of Seeing Without Seeing, we come together in prayer and faith to seek the Lord concerning the pressing issues affecting our world today. Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text!Length: 1 hour 35 minutesSynopsis: Tonight (6/4/26), in our Thursday night Machshavah Lab series for women, was not a shiur but an exploration with an agenda (which I explain toward the beginning and won't divulge here). We read the famous aggadah about the four Tannaim who entered Pardes - R. Akiva, Acher, Ben Zoma, and Ben Azzai - along with several other sources that comment directly or indirectly on it. Our goal was not to conduct a comprehensive analysis, but to read through the facts and think aloud about what we were reading. We certainly accomplished that goal. What remains to be done is to fully develop an understanding of the fate met by each of the four in a manner that enlightens us about the correct and incorrect paths to truth.-----מקורות:תלמוד בבלי חגיגה דף יד עמוד ברמב"ם - פירוש המשניות חגיגה ב:ארמב"ם - מורה הנבוכים א:לא-לברשב"ץ - פירוש להגדה של פסח: ארבעה בנים-----The Torah content for this month has been sponsored by Meir Areman, l'zeicher nishmas Zelda bas Ziesel, his grandmother, whose yahrzeit is on the 21st of Sivan.-----If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider supporting my work via Patreon, Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal — links below. One chilly Seattle night in February 2014, four storytellers on the RISK! stage said some things they probably wouldn't have otherwise said out loud. Dan Savage told the story of his early days writing Savage Love in Seattle, doing drag to hide his identity, and one late-night encounter that left him genuinely bewildered by his own desire. (Content note: murder, sexual assault) Kelleen Conway Blanchard grew up carrying fragments of a story no child should know: her cousin Pam was murdered in her apartment, and the man everyone suspected walked free. Twenty years later, a phone call changed what Kelleen knew, though not necessarily how it felt. Summer Waldron was freshly divorced, newly medicated for depression, and committed to a long-planned threesome. Then the night itself unraveled, pulled apart by side effects, a panicked call from her mother, and a body that had simply stopped cooperating. Emmett Montgomery nearly died of hypothermia on a high school survival trip in the Utah desert, hallucinating through every bad decision on the way there. Mighty Blue On The Appalachian Trail: The Ultimate Mid-Life Crisis
As I did before when I finished the Appalachian Trail in 2019, I got a friend of mine, Glenn Hebert, from the Horse Radio Network, to debrief me following my decision to leave the trail last Thursday. It never feels good to report upon something which you've been unable to complete but, as you'll hear, I have a plan!! My disappointment at not finishing what I set out to do has been tempered somewhat; first, because I was able to complete 5,000 miles on the Appalachian Trail, and second, because there is a way forward for me and my hike. I used my hike in 2024 on the South West Coast Path in the UK to help raise money for my absolute favorite charity, Parenting Matters, on whose board I've been privileged to serve for over a decade. You can learn more about the hike and the organization–and donate–by visiting Hike with Steve - Empowering Parents, One Step at a Time | Parenting Matters %. I hope you want to support this critical mission. Don't forget. Our entire series of videos from our Woods Hole Weekend in 2022 is now FREE and available at my YouTube page at Woods Hole Weekend - Trailer There, you'll find all sorts of tips and tricks that our guests took away from the weekend that helped them with their own hikes this year. Check it out. I often ask listeners for ideas on who to interview, and I'm sure several of you say, "I could do that. I've got an awesome story to tell." You're the person we need to hear from. If you'd like to be interviewed on the podcast, just register as a guest on the link below, and I'll be in touch. Come on the show! If you like what we're doing on the Hiking Radio Network, and want to see our shows continue, please consider supporting us with either a one-off or monthly donation. You'll find the donate button on each Hiking Radio Network page at Hiking Radio Network . Additionally, you can join our membership at Steve (Mighty Blue) Adams. It's worth checking out what is on offer for you there. If you prefer NOT to use PayPal, you can now support us via check by mailing it to Mighty Blue Publishing, 3821 Milflores Drive, Sun City Center, FL 33573. Any support is gratefully received. In this week's episode, we have a deeper discussion of why the proposal that R Menashe of Iliya was trying to create something similar to the Aguda of the 1920's is deeply flawed. We examine the very basic differences between the two time periods, and how this affects how we understand what his idea really was. We similarly look at how the basic pattern of R Menashe life and how he travelled a lot played a part in his ideas. We also discuss the phenomenon of political parties and how the contemporary system has amplified the basic flaw of political parties. This week's episode is sponsored by Binyomin and Orli Cohenbash in honor of my daughter Racheli's wedding to Ari Sherman You can now help Rabbi Wittenstien create new and original content via our non profit 'The Jewish History and Tanach Foundation'. Dr. Eligar Sadeh, Tuesday, May 5, 2026, #4535Quick summaryThe Space Show featured a discussion with Eligar Sadeh, editor of the Journal of Astropolitics, about the recent Space Symposium in Colorado Springs and cislunar space governance. Sadeh explained how the symposium focused heavily on establishing U.S. dominance in cislunar space, particularly through the Artemis program, with emphasis on being the first mover in establishing governance structures and rules of engagement. The discussion covered concerns about NASA science budget cuts, the sustainability of the Space Launch System, and the role of public-private partnerships in lunar development. Sadeh noted that while the U.S. space community emphasized military and strategic priorities, international scholars, particularly from developing space nations, were increasingly contributing to astropolitical research through his journal. The conversation also touched on challenges with Starlink satellite congestion and the potential for space asset disruption, though Sadeh emphasized the importance of establishing international governance frameworks to prevent harmful interference in space.Detailed SummaryEligar discussed his recent activities, including his work as an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado, his involvement with the journal Astropolitics, and his focus on lunar governance and astropolitics. He highlighted the growing interest in cislunar space and lunar governance, noting a significant increase in paper submissions to the journal and plans for a special issue and international conference on the topic. Eligar also mentioned the prominent role of defense and military interests in the current space industry, particularly with the Space Force's increasing budget and focus on space superiority. The conversation touched on personal updates, including Eligar's children's current activities and his relationship status.Eligar discussed the emerging focus on cislunar space at a recent space symposium, highlighting the strategic importance of establishing governance structures and securing gravitational high ground in the Earth-Moon system. He noted that while the Artemis program aims for aggressive lunar exploration and potential human habitation by 2032, there are significant challenges with the Space Launch System's sustainability and the reliance on new commercial capabilities like SpaceX's Starship. Eligar emphasized that the civil program appears to be a cover for establishing U.S. superiority in the cislunar domain, particularly in response to geopolitical competition with China and Russia. The discussion focused on concerns about proposed NASA science cuts and their impact on the space community. Eligar noted that while there was awareness of these cuts during networking discussions at the Space Symposium, there was limited pushback, with many participants appearing to align with the Trump administration's direction. The conversation then shifted to broader governance challenges in the cislunar domain, with Eligar emphasizing the need for maintaining space as a commons and establishing rules for interoperability among the 62 states participating in the Artemis program. The discussion concluded with a reference to a 20-year-old paper co-authored by Eligar and David on public-private partnerships in lunar development, which remains relevant to current space governance challenges.Eligar discussed the challenges of establishing a permanent lunar presence, highlighting issues such as freedom of movement, resource utilization, and the harsh lunar environment, including metallic and adhesive dust. He emphasized the need for reusable and sustainable lunar transportation systems, suggesting that achieving a cost of $100 per kilogram with Starship could be crucial. Eligar also explained the concept of cislunar space as the gravitational high ground incorporating Lagrange points between Earth and the Moon, which provides access to various orbital domains and the lunar surface. Joe noted the disconnect between desired goals and current capabilities, advocating for increased repetition in accessing lunar space to support a permanent presence. The discussion focused on NASA's lunar mission plans and budget constraints. Joe expressed concerns that the Moon Enterprise would likely crowd out other NASA programs due to limited congressional funding, similar to previous large initiatives like the Space Shuttle and International Space Station. Eligar agreed that SLS is not sustainable, noting it's only planned for up to Artemis 5 with a cadence of one launch per year, and emphasized the geopolitical aspects driving the lunar race, including the need for reusable transportation systems and establishing a presence in the Aitken Basin for potential mining opportunities. The discussion focused on the Space Symposium's emphasis on getting to the lunar surface first rather than focusing on sustainability or cost efficiency. Eligar noted that while there was general support for the Artemis program and Accords, there was limited discussion about alternative lunar surface models or modifications to the current Artemis plan. The conversation highlighted a potential disconnect between the symposium's rhetoric about achieving rapid progress and budgetary realities, including concerns about over-reliance on Starship variants and cuts to science programs. John suggested that the science program cuts might be a strategic budget maneuver similar to defense programs, with the expectation that Congress would eventually restore funding.Eligar discussed NASA's proposed permanent lunar presence around 2030 and debated various technical choices in rocket design and propulsion. The conversation then shifted to concerns about space congestion, particularly with multiple satellite constellations being planned by different countries, though Eligar noted that cislunar space remains decades away from similar congestion issues. David raised questions about the global scope of the astropolitics journal, with contributions coming from scholars in developing space states who are focused on using space for socio-economic development rather than military dominance. The group discussed perceptions of Jared Isaacman and NASA's leadership in space governance, particularly regarding the Artemis program. Eligar explained that while there are good ideas in the current approach, there are concerns about U.S. dominance in space policy, noting a European concept of “equivalence” where different countries could develop governance approaches independently while maintaining interoperability standards. The discussion highlighted the tension between U.S. efforts to establish space superiority and the need for international cooperation, with Joe emphasizing that China and the U.S. are the dominant powers in space, making other countries effectively choose between aligning with one of these powers. We also discussed the growing importance of satellite communication systems for military purposes, with Joe noting that multiple countries are developing Starlink-like systems following the Ukraine war. They explored the challenges of denying access to these systems and the potential for kinetic attacks on satellites, with Eligar emphasizing the importance of establishing governance structures and rules of the road in space. The discussion concluded with Eligar providing an update on the journal Astropolitics, which is growing in influence among emerging space powers and has expanded its editorial board with new members including someone from the Romanian Space Agency.Eligar then mentioned plans for a special issue of Astropolitics journal focused on lunar astropolitics, governance strategy, and policy dynamics in cislunar space, with a global conference planned for early next year and publication expected in a year to year and a half. He agreed to provide David with contact information for potential guests for the Space Show and discussed the possibility of updating a previous article with Haym and himself in the fall. Regarding the timeline for returning humans to the Moon, Eligar expressed doubt about the 2028 target, suggesting 2030 would be more realistic due to ongoing challenges with the lunar landing vehicle. The group discussed public-private partnerships in space, with Eligar noting that realistic timelines for landing vehicles are now around 2030 rather than 2028 due to delays on both Blue Origin and SpaceX sides. Joe raised questions about international public-private partnerships, particularly in countries like India, while Eligar shared insights about emerging space capabilities in countries like Brazil, Cambodia, Thailand, and Indonesia. The discussion concluded with plans to follow up on these topics in a future issue of Astropolitics journal, with Eligar offering to rewrite and get the paper peer-reviewed.Special thanks to our sponsors:American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Helix Space in Luxembourg, Celestis Memorial Spaceflights, Astrox Corporation, Dr. Haym Benaroya of Rutgers University, The Space Settlement Progress Blog by John Jossy, The Atlantis Project, and Artless EntertainmentWe use Zoom phone numbers for program participation. For real time program participation, email Dr. Space at: drspace@thespaceshow.com for instructions and access. The Space Show is a non-profit 501C3 through its parent, One Giant Leap Foundation, Inc. It's summer 2014, and Bailey Swilley has a boyfriend she's been trying to leave for months and a father who is about to make that the least of her problems. When her dad goes into cardiac arrest, the family descends on his hospital room in Memphis, and her Taiwanese grandmother, who has never previously mentioned being a healer, begins issuing instructions from a witch she met on a Carnival cruise. The spells escalate. So does everything else. Nick Hornedo has been falling for his girl best friends since he was a teenager, and he knows it's a problem. In high school, a girl named Chloe pulls him into corners to talk, says things that sound like promises, and kicks him in the groin. He keeps finding reasons to stay in the game. It does not go the way he imagined. Between the two stories, JC Cassis drops in with a deathbed anecdote about a grandfather who wanted everyone to know they should be working harder. This one goes deep. "Into the Mystic" first aired in February 2014, and it brings together three accounts of the uncanny from three storytellers who had no map for what they were experiencing. Christine Lee, an Episcopal priest, has spent years navigating the gap between the faith she teaches and the faith she actually feels. When a parishioner with a seriously injured knee agrees to be prayed over, Christine finds herself in the stairwell of her church, watching something she cannot explain. (Content note: emotional abuse, child psychological abuse) Lulu grew up in 1970s Pittsburgh with a mother who was cruel and checked out. That summer, a neighbor's adult son with schizophrenia becomes her unlikely companion and proceeds to fill her head with detailed, terrifying visions of the Rapture, the Antichrist, and the Tribulation. Jen Kwok is with her then-fiancé's family on Staten Island when his father collapses from a heart attack on Christmas Eve. The days that follow are brutal, and something extraordinary happens on the bus ride back to the city. Guest-host Taj Easton is in the chair this week, presenting these two stories on the long shadow of patriarchy with a particular attentiveness, repeatedly asking the same leading question: Are straight men okay? Cassidy Krug arrives at Stanford a diver of moderate ambition, then spends nine years being screamed at by a coach whose legendarily ruthless style drives her to the Olympics. Fifteen years after retiring, she still isn't sure whether what got her there was abuse, or maybe exactly what she needed. (Content note: domestic violence) Thomas Brazzle grows up desperate for his ex-Marine father's approval, but the man abandons his family after Thomas intervenes on his mother's behalf during a vicious assault by his father. Thirty years later, at his mother's funeral, his father reappears, and Thomas is stunned to find he's still desperate for the approval of a man who brutalized his mother, abandoned them all, and is now a stranger to him.
