With the rocks finding new ways to hurt me, I'm falling a little too often for comfort. I'm now into Massachusetts, so I know that the rocks will only grow more vicious as I head north. I need to work out what's happening before I hurt myself really badly. Along the way, I had conversations with some fellow travelers. First, I met Brian, or B. Then, I ran into two indomitable young women, Moose and Princess, out on their own epic adventure. I'm using Polarsteps to record my AT thru-hike this year. If you'd like to follow my progress between episodes, as well as photos of my journey, please go to https://www.polarsteps.com/mightyblue and click on the follow button. I used my hike in 2024 on the South West Coast Path in the UK to help raise money for my absolute favorite charity, Parenting Matters, on whose board I've been privileged to serve for over a decade. You can learn more about the hike and the organization–and donate–by visiting Hike with Steve - Empowering Parents, One Step at a Time | Parenting Matters %. Our entire series of videos from our Woods Hole Weekend in 2022 is now FREE and available at my YouTube page at Woods Hole Weekend - Trailer There, you'll find all sorts of tips and tricks that our guests took away from the weekend that helped them with their own hikes this year. This week we're picking up where we left off last week after I shared my own journey selling my condo in PR — and this time we're going deep on buying real estate on the island. I sat down with Krystal Vias, a proud Nuyorican and founder of Buy The Block PR, who's on a mission to reconnect la diáspora with Puerto Rico, one block at a time. Krystal didn't step foot on the island until she was 38 and that first trip changed everything. Now she's helping thousands of Boricuas navigate the confusing, often antiquated process of buying property back home, from finding trustworthy realtors to avoiding land scams. We get into the real talk: the identity crisis so many of us in the diaspora carry, conscious investing versus gentrification, and why speaking perfect Spanish is NOT a requirement for belonging. If you've ever thought about buying property on the island, this episode is your permission slip.WE GET INTO:00:00 – Intro: Welcome Krystal Viaz, founder of Buy The Block PR01:26 – Krystal's story: first trip to PR at 38 and falling in love with the island02:26 – Financial education roots + losing her brother-in-law to colon cancer04:49 – Why there's no Cash App or Zelle in PR (and why that's by design)06:44 – What Buy The Block PR actually offers07:40 – Krystal's podcast, By The Blockcast08:14 – Navigating identity: being "from here but also from there"10:34 – Dealing with backlash: "you're not really Puerto Rican"12:37 – Misconceptions about buying property (it's not just hopping on Zillow)13:44 – How to actually find listings on the island16:30 – Vetting real estate agents, lenders, and contractors18:43 – Common scams and red flags to watch for20:17 – The risks of buying land (inheritance issues, unpaved roads, protected land)22:27 – What you need financially before you start looking25:41 – Conscious investing vs. displacement and gentrification30:05 – Airbnb, tax incentives, and long-term rental income34:09 – Building remote income to fund the move37:24 – "Spanish shame" and the myth that fluency is required39:37 – Internal pressure vs. external validation of Latinidad41:25 – The history behind Puerto Rican migration policies43:41 – How to get involved with Buy The Block PR45:19 – Closing thoughts: ownership, privilege, and being about itKEY TAKEAWAYS:Puerto Rico doesn't have one central MLS like the mainland — off-market properties, Facebook groups, and word-of-mouth are huge parts of the processYou'll need a trusted, vetted local team (realtor, lawyer, mortgage broker) — and red flags include people who go dark on communicationLand purchases carry unique risks: unresolved inheritance issues, unpaved roads, no electrical/water access, and protected land you can't build onMainland buyers typically need a second-home loan (20% down) unless they can prove 2 years of remote or island-based incomeLong-term rental income in PR can be tax-free — a lesser-known incentive worth knowing aboutConscious investing means asking "how does this affect my neighbors and community?" — not just "what's my ROI?"Not speaking fluent Spanish does NOT disqualify you from reconnecting — the real barrier is internal permission, not languageCONNECT WITH KRYSTAL:Buy The Block PR Website: https://www.buytheblockpr.comBuy The Block PR Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/BuytheblockPRTAKE THE NEXT STEP WITH YO QUIERO DINERO:

Marilyn Gilchrist is a professional dog trainer, and "Who Am I Now" is her conversation with Michael Shikashio, lifted from his podcast The Bitey End of the Dog. Kevin Allison sets it up and returns at the end with his own thoughts. This is a companion episode to Still Dog People: Two Truths, released earlier in the week. (Content note: graphic dog attack) An hour into a routine welfare check on a foster dog, Marilyn stood up to leave. The dog grabbed the lead, she dropped it exactly as she had twice already that afternoon, and every muscle in the dog went tense. The weeks after taught her that the wound in her leg was the smaller problem. She had built a career and a self on being good with dogs, and now she could not be in a room with one she did not know. Genesis 32:24-31 | YOUR BREAKING POINT — What YOU Fear Most… Isn't Your Greatest BattleThe thing YOU are most afraid of is not the real battle. It feels like it is. It has YOUR attention, YOUR sleepless nights, YOUR knot in the stomach every time YOU think about tomorrow. YOU have been bracing for it, preparing for it, praying about it — convinced that if YOU can just survive that one thing, YOU will finally be okay. But Genesis 32 reveals something almost no one sees coming: the battle YOU are staring at is not the one that is actually about to change YOU.Because on the night before the thing he feared most, this man ended up completely alone.Everyone he loved had been sent ahead. The noise was gone. The distractions were gone. And in that silence — in the dark, with no one left to perform for and nothing left to hide behind — something happened that had nothing to do with the enemy he had been dreading for twenty years.Someone met him there. And what took place between them lasted all night — a struggle so intense, so personal, so unlike anything he expected, that by the time the sun came up, he was not the same person who had walked into that night. Not because he lost. Because of what it cost him to win. Here is what most people miss. There was a single moment in that struggle — one touch — that changed everything in an instant. It did not end the fight. It marked him. And he walked away from that night carrying something in his body for the rest of his life that told the story of what happened when no one was watching. What was touched, and why, is the heart of this entire message. And there is more. Before it was over, he said something — a demand, a refusal, a decision not to let go — that most people are too proud, too tired, or too afraid to ever say. And the moment he said it, he was given something he had spent his entire life chasing the wrong way.A new name. A new identity. A permanent change. But the reason it happened — the thing that had to break in him first before any of it could — is the part YOU have to hear for yourself. Because YOUR breaking point may not be YOUR ending. It may be the exact place YOU have been trying to avoid, when it was always the place YOU were meant to be changed.Press play — because what YOU fear most is not YOUR greatest battle. This message will show YOU what the real one is, and what is waiting for YOU on the other side of the night YOU thought would break YOU.Thank you for joining me today. As a precursor to "Exposing the Matrix: Layer 9 - Religion and the Counterfeit Church, we explain what the Noahide Laws are and why they have become the subject of growing concern among many Christians. In this episode of The Fact Hunter, we examine the origins of the Noahide Laws, how they are understood within Judaism, and why some believers fear they could one day be used to restrict the public proclamation of the gospel. We discuss the biblical claim that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone, the conflict between that message and any system that rejects Him as the Messiah, and what Scripture says about standing firm in the faith during times of increasing opposition. Whether you're hearing about the Noahide Laws for the first time or have been researching the topic yourself, this episode encourages listeners to test every claim against the Word of God, remain grounded in biblical truth, and be prepared to faithfully proclaim Christ regardless of the cost.Support us: Zelle 719-651-0642Website: https://www.foundationsinfaith.netClosing Song: "Hold The Line" https://suno.com/song/2fed8431-ccc2-4c88-a713-2a449a85ae52

2 Chronicles 20:14-25 | IT'S NOT YOUR FIGHT — The Battle YOU Feared… Was Never Yours to WinThere is a battle YOU have been trying to win that was never assigned to YOU.YOU have been strategizing over it. Losing sleep over it. Running the numbers, rehearsing the arguments, bracing for the outcome YOU are afraid is coming. YOU have been carrying the full weight of something as if the entire result depends on YOU getting it right — and the exhaustion YOU feel is the exhaustion of fighting a war that was never yours to fight.2 Chronicles 20 was written for the person carrying that exact weight. Here is the situation. A massive threat was coming. The numbers were not close. There was no strategy that made sense, no plan that added up, no realistic outcome where the people facing it came out alive. And the leader did the one thing most people do last instead of first — and the response he got back was not what anyone braces for when they are outnumbered and afraid. He was told to stop preparing for the fight. Not fight harder. Not fight smarter. Stop. And then he was given an instruction so strange, so backwards, so completely opposite to what YOU do when an enemy is closing in, that most people read it and cannot believe it worked. It should not have worked. By every rule of war, it was the most reckless thing they could have done.It is exactly what they were told to do.Here is what most people miss. There was a specific position they were told to take — a place to stand, a thing to do while the threat kept advancing — and the moment they did it, something began to happen to the enemy that no soldier in that army lifted a finger to cause. They never swung a weapon. And by the time they reached the battlefield, what they found there stopped them in their tracks. What they saw is the part YOU have to see for yourself. And there is one more thing. What they did in the days after the battle — and what it took them three days to finish gathering — reveals something about what is waiting on the other side of a fight YOU stop trying to win in YOUR own strength. It was more than they could carry.Far more than they expected.Press play — because IT'S NOT YOUR FIGHT. The battle YOU feared was never yours to win — and this message will show YOU exactly what YOU are supposed to do instead, and what is waiting for YOU on the other side of it.Thank you for joining me today. Mark 5:25-34 | REACH ANYWAY — Every Door Closed… But God Left One OpenTwelve years. Everything tried. Nothing worked.YOU know what that season does to a person. YOU spend everything YOU have. YOU go to everyone YOU are told to go to. YOU do what is supposed to work — and not only does it not work, YOU end up worse than when YOU started. And by the end of it, YOU are not just sick of the problem. YOU are sick of hoping. That is exactly where Mark 5 begins. The person in this passage had run out of every option a human being can run out of. Money, gone. Options, gone. Permission, gone. And it was worse than YOU think — because there were rules in place at that time that made it flatly forbidden for someone in that condition to even be in that crowd, let alone reach for anyone in it. Legally. Publicly. Religiously.Every single door was closed. Except one. And what she did with that one remaining door — the one thing that had not been taken from her, the one thing nobody had the authority to shut — is the entire reason this story is still being told two thousand years later. Here is what most people never notice. That day, she was not the only person touching Him. A whole crowd was pressed up against Him. People were bumping into Him, brushing past Him, making physical contact with Him from every direction.Only one of them left different. Something separated her from every other person in that crowd — something YOU cannot see in the passage unless YOU slow down and look for it. And once YOU see it, YOU will understand why some people are around God for years and never receive anything, while someone else reaches once and everything changes. There is also something she said — before she moved, before she reached, before anything happened — that she said to no one but herself. And it is the single most overlooked sentence in this entire passage. And then there is what He did next. He stopped. He was already on His way to something urgent, something that could not wait, something a powerful man had begged Him for. And He stopped everything — in the middle of a crowd — to find her. Why? And the first word He said to her when He found her was not about her body. It was not about her healing. It was one word — an identity word — and it gave her something she had not even reached for.YOU are going to want to hear what it was.Press play — because every door may be closed on YOU, but God left one open. REACH ANYWAY. And this message will show YOU exactly which door that is, and exactly what happens when YOU stop asking for permission and finally reach.Thank you for joining me today. The summer before she turns 16, she decides to get her first kiss over with and arranges a late-night meeting with a boy she barely knows. The kiss becomes something she spends years trying to forget, for reasons she only understands much later. Kevin Allison hits the bottom of a lost decade with no career, no money, and no plan. He picks up a book about taking dictation from God and starts a notebook of his own, never sure whether the answers are wisdom or just his own voice talking back. How often do car buyers get fooled by a deal that looks just a little too good to pass up? In this episode of https://Drive-Radio.com – The Extra Mile, host John Rush and co-host Luke Cashman take a deep dive into the hidden world of automotive scams—and the costly mistakes that even experienced buyers can make. From fake online listings and cloned auto-parts websites to counterfeit products and payment app fraud, the conversation reveals how scammers exploit urgency, emotion, and the promise of huge savings. Have you ever seen a car priced thousands below market value and wondered why? John explains how scammers copy legitimate listings, mimic trusted websites, and pressure buyers into making quick deposits via platforms like Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App. The discussion also uncovers lesser-known risks: title jumping, salvage titles, mismatched VIN numbers, and the dangers of buying vehicles or parts from out-of-state sellers without proper verification. Even something as simple as installing a used engine or transmission can turn into a financial nightmare when labor costs pile up, and warranties disappear. Why do so many scams succeed? What psychological tricks do scammers use to rush buyers into bad decisions? And what simple checks—like verifying VIN numbers, researching websites, or trusting your gut—could save you thousands of dollars? If you've ever searched for a used car, auto part, or online “deal,” this episode will make you think twice before clicking buy now.

New research from Zelle highlights a growing financial trend known as the avoidance economy, where young adults struggle to settle debts for group activities. A significant majority of Gen Z consumers report that they are not fully reimbursed after paying upfront for shared travel or social events. This lack of repayment often leads to strained friendships, increased personal debt, and social withdrawal, such as ignoring group messages to dodge financial obligations. Experts note that while social media encourages lavish lifestyle expectations, the actual costs frequently exceed what many individuals can afford. Consequently, digital payment tools are becoming essential for simplifying reimbursements and preserving interpersonal trust. Ultimately, the data suggests that these unresolved financial tensions are significantly impacting the emotional and economic well-being of the younger generation.

The sex described in the Song of Songs is neither transactional (the joining of families and property) nor procreative. It's just the pure pleasure of wanting, enjoying, and wanting again the complete union of one person with another. The church has long interpreted this erotic state of being as a spiritual state of being.   Host: Dan Panetti   There is a great description of a young David - before he defeated Goliath and before he took the throne of Israel - that I believe gives us a glimpse into the character of a “man after God's own heart.” These character qualities are not only valuable for us to consider and contemplate, but also to recognize that just a few verses before this description is made of David that God reminded Samuel that “the Lord sees not as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).   What are those character qualities of “the heart” that were important enough for God to record and share with us today - the description of David is found in 1 Samuel 16:18 and is the topic for our discussion today:   One of the young men answered, “Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a man of good presence, and the Lord is with him.”    T4M guys - just a reminder that Training4Manhood is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) ministry and you can make donations either via Zelle (info@training4manhood.com) or by visiting the Training4Manhood website.

This classic RISK! episode first aired in March 2014, and the four San Diego storytellers behind it cover a remarkable range, from white-knuckle confession to gleeful filth. Tommy Galan traces a drinking habit that began at age eleven and nearly cost him his family, until three little words from a bar owner reframe everything. Justin Hudnall grows up on the motto "you don't miss what you don't have," then goes looking for the Vietnam-veteran father he never met. (Content note: suicide, sexual abuse, eating disorder) Meanwhile, Joy Keller lands in Los Angeles broke and answers an ad promising pay to meditate, which pulls her toward a guru selling enlightenment by the thousands. And Lesley borrows a coworker's copy of the film Secretary and recognizes a desire she has hidden since childhood. After the heat of last week, the temperatures have fallen and rain is starting to wash out the air. I've continued to put in the miles, including another 20-mile day that enabled me to get out of Pennsylvania. As a wise man once said, Pennsylvania sucks, but the people are great. Along the way, I managed to interview an incredibly shy Marley Joy, who headed up a group of wonderful Amish women to give us trail magic at the Lookout Hostel. I hope you want to support this critical mission. Don't forget. Our entire series of videos from our Woods Hole Weekend in 2022 is now FREE and available at my YouTube page at Woods Hole Weekend - Trailer There, you'll find all sorts of tips and tricks that our guests took away from the weekend that helped them with their own hikes this year. Check it out. I often ask listeners for ideas on who to interview, and I'm sure several of you say, "I could do that. I've got an awesome story to tell." You're the person we need to hear from. If you'd like to be interviewed on the podcast, just register as a guest on the link below, and I'll be in touch. Come on the show! If you like what we're doing on the Hiking Radio Network, and want to see our shows continue, please consider supporting us with either a one-off or monthly donation. You'll find the donate button on each Hiking Radio Network page at Hiking Radio Network . Additionally, you can join our membership at Steve (Mighty Blue) Adams. It's worth checking out what is on offer for you there. If you prefer NOT to use PayPal, you can now support us via check by mailing it to Mighty Blue Publishing, 3821 Milflores Drive, Sun City Center, FL 33573. Any support is gratefully received. Additionally, you can "Zelle" me a donation to steve@hikingradionetwork.com. Or "Venmo" me at @‌Steve-Adams-105. They both work! If you'd like to take advantage of my book offer (all three of my printed hiking books–with a personal message and signed by me–for $31, including postage to the United States) send a check payable to Mighty Blue Publishing at the address just above.

IT seems like Gen Z has an issue with paying back their friends. We found a report from Zelle that breaks down how many people struggle to get paid back by people and how many people try to avoid paying people back Thor has gone at Taylor Swift many times before but this one takes the cake. The wedding between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce happened over the holiday weekend and Thor was NOT happy about it but also mostly about how Swifties make her out to be humble and perfect when she clearly isn't. Today is national video game day and we found a list put together by Collider that lists the best video games of all time and a fan made list to see how well they match up!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Radio producer Jon Nelson curates and guest-hosts an episode built from three listener submissions RISK! never quite knew where to file, all circling childhood faith and the certainties grown-ups pass down. Jana Fisher is eleven and the most devout girl in her friend group until a sleepover becomes a contest over who is truly saved. Jesse Bradley-Amore is twelve and watching cartoons when his mother appears with a police nightstick and a frank approach to sex ed. Stephen Harder, fresh out of Bible college, arrives for a youth ministry interview at a megachurch and learns the being who scheduled it may not work there. Nelson, an avowed agnostic, threads it together with his own reckoning with faith and his late father. Back in March 2014, RISK! tripled down on a single subject, and this classic episode was the result. Josh Healey is 17 and smitten with his drama club co-president when she casts him, a boy, in the first ever co-ed production of The Vagina Monologues. The soccer team has questions, the college feminists have objections, and the cast is heading toward open revolt. Amy Salloway, fresh off a massage therapist's humiliating refusal to touch her, lands at a size acceptance conference in Seattle. It turns out she's one of the only straight women in the building and starts to wonder if that's negotiable for a weekend. And Elna Baker arrives in Hollywood for the pitch meeting of her dreams while her own body quietly sabotages the room.
