If you've taught or attended a high school course in the last decade, you've probably watched a Crash Course video. Their dozens of playlists on topics from Biology and Environmental Science to Economics and World History hold hundreds of videos and have collected over 2 billion views. Maybe even just hearing the title conjured John Green's urgent cadence and the characteristic cartoon aesthetic in your mind, or the show's outro, if you couldn't hit the pause button fast enough, where John thanks the producer, the graphics team, and mentions, “The show is written by my high school history teacher, Raoul Meyer…”Today, Mister Meyer not only continues to teach, but earlier this year reached out to me about a new film project he's working on with his brother Luke, scheduled for 2026 release, tentatively titled THE TEACHERS PROJECT. It's described as “a compelling, character-driven journey into the lives of American educators as they navigate the intensifying culture war that has enveloped the nation's schools since 2020. As political battles over sanctioned ideas, books, and lesson plans range from national headlines to local school boards, the film reveals the devastating consequences of this chaos and conflict for teachers, students, communities, and the future of American education.”And Raoul joins me to talk about Crash Course, the state of history teaching and the often untold stories of teachers wrestling with all of it.@mistermeyer on BlueSky

Chris opens the show by reacting to the news that Paramount is mounting a hostile takeover in the wake of Netflix's Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition (1:00). He is then joined by Timothy Simons to talk about the Golden Globes nominations and why the awards show can still platform lesser-known titles (4:15). Along the way, Tim runs through everything he's been watching, including recent ‘Succession' and ‘Girls' rewatches (14:55). Later, they discuss the degree of difficulty required to pull off what Rhea Seehorn is doing on ‘Pluribus,' the show's biggest fan theories (29:52), and ‘Landman' S2E4 (48:34). Brian Walshe is on trial in Massachusetts for the first-degree murder of his wife, Ana Walshe, who disappeared in January 2023 after a New Year's Eve party at their Cohasset home. Walshe initially pleaded not guilty to all charges, including murder, misleading police, and improper disposal of a body. However, in a dramatic turn during jury selection in November 2025, he pleaded guilty to the two lesser charges—misleading a police investigation and improper disposal of a human body—while maintaining his not guilty plea to the murder charge, which will now proceed to trial Prosecutors allege that Brian Walshe beat Ana to death, dismembered her body, and disposed of it, citing evidence such as a damaged, bloody knife found in their basement and incriminating Google searches on his devices related to dismemberment and body disposal. The trial is expected to last anywhere from 2-4 weeks. Dr. R. Carlton Wynne speaks at the Reformed Forum Annual Theology Conference, held at Lakeland Church in Gurnee, Illinois on September 27, 2025. Dr. Wynne explores how the vast portion of the Old Testament covering the monarchy and prophetic periods (approximately 417 chapters) points to Jesus Christ. Dr. Wynne first establishes the central, Christ-centered scope of all Scripture, affirming that everything in the Old Testament looks forward to and finds its fulfillment in Christ's person and work, including his death and resurrection. The address then moves beyond viewing Christ merely as being prefigured in the Old Testament through "scale models" or "macro typology." Instead, it seeks a deeper sense in which the pre-incarnate Christ's power and heavenly kingdom principles were actively revealed through the history of Israel's kings and prophets, positioning these figures and institutions as intrusions of heavenly glory mediated by Christ himself.
