Young singer and seeker talk's about her relentless pursuit of learning from her elders, peers and on the bandstand.
Zoe Chait is a California State Parks Lifeguard working in Half Moon Bay, CA. Zoe started as a junior lifeguard and has progressed to lifeguarding professionally along with traveling the world chasing waves and competing. At 18 years old and just a few years of Lifeguard experience under her belt she's able to offer a very unique perspective on life. Zoe has faced many unique challenges working in Half Moon Bay which is characterized by approximately 50 miles of rocky coastline, dangerous waves and beaches, with minimal resources. It is also home to Mavericks, which happens to be her home surf break. Zoe is currently chasing a professional surfing career in big waves and (as she refers to it) "small waves too". Zoe and I discuss her unique perspective from these two worlds, how they are interconnected, and what she thinks about lifeguarding. Zoe also had the opportunity to perform unique off-duty rescues in her hometown which showcase a tight knit community and reflect a global sense of helping others as a lifeguard.Thank you as always for listening!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-lifeguard-project/donations

Project 2025 is a 920-page bloated opus about taking our fragile democracy and turning into Christian Nationalist nightmare if Trump gets back into the oval office. And Beth read it!! Well, skimmed some portions because oh my god was this bureaucratic gibberish. But that's the point; onslaught us with so much information, we're too numb to fight back. Listen to part one on Strange Country where Beth and Kelly detail how the Project 2025 authors, an assortment of Garbage Pail kids, pin all of society's ills on “wokeness,” abortion, and gay people having rights. The plan is to get rid of all those things. Theme music: Big White Lie by A Cast of Thousands. This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit andrewsullivan.substack.comCarole is back to discuss her travails at Harvard, teaching in the Department of Human Evolutionary Biology. She originally appeared two years ago to discuss her superb book T: The Story of Testosterone, the Hormone that Dominates and Divides Us. She's now a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, and an associate in Harvard's Department of Psychology, in the lab of Steven Pinker. She's also an active member of the newly established Council on Academic Freedom at Harvard. We talk here about her own experience in the last few years, targeted by the woke left on Harvard's campus, and about Harvard itself, and whether the Ivy League can be reformed.
